Hi all,
I have two E-Mail accounts set up on my Touch HD.
1) - Imap connection to GMAIL
2) - Sync connection to Nuevasync, through to Gmail for Cal and Contacts.
Now when I chose to manage folders in number 1, if I choose one of Google's default folders (All Mail, Spam etc) they sync correctly. If I choose folders created under the Inbox, although I have the option to check their check boxes, the E-Mails in them do not replicate onto my phone.
Is this a limitation with Gmail as in the Web GUI they are not shown as folders, but they do work fine in Thunderbird using an Imap Connection.
Many Thanks,
Paul.
I have the same problems. the subfolders emails are not mapped to my phone.
sorry for bringing up an old topic but I am having the same issue on my wizard have you by chance found a solution?
Thanks,
yonu

Hi all. Apologies for this post, it should be such a simple thing.
When I activesync my HTC Touch HD / Blackstone to my PC, I'd like all the emails synced and then removed from the phone. Does anyone know which setting this is? I can't find it on activsync or in the email settings. I have yahoo and they were on that account on my mobile while i was away. i've just added mail to the list of things to sync and the emails have left the yahoo folder, gone into outlook on the pc, then outlook has been added to my mobile as an account and all the message have been copied to there.
What i'd like is to have 2 folders - yahoo & hotmail - with emails to be dumped onto their respective account folders when i sync with outlook on my pc. Any tips on how I set this up?
Thanks in advance.

Something you might want to try is if Yahoo or Hotmail support IMAP. That way, when you change an email on device, it affects the server copy too.
Outlook on desktops has support for rules, which may be of use for you. (I think google is more likely to be helpful than I am!) I know from personal use that rules can delete duplicate emails, and move emails around...
for info of anyone reading - IMPA was the way. I wassn't sure what imap was, but basically it maps to the server store rather than downloading stuff, so the messages dissapear from the phone once you download them from the server to your computer.
I have gotten google sync working in all Android 2.0 roms through exchange. It syncs mail, contacts, and calendar without the need for google apps. To get this working open email, and make a new exchange account and put in your gmail email address and password and then select manual setup. Select exchange account. For Domain/Username put in "/[email protected]" without quotes. The password should be filled in from the previous field. The Exchange server is "m.google.com" without quotes. Check both boxes below and hit next. Select the checking frequency(or push) and amount to synchronize. Select which options you want below, then select next. Put in an account name and display name, then hit done. If you have corporate calendar installed, then your calendar will synchronize and so will your contacts and email. Now you have push gmail, contacts, and calendar. Because exchange will only synchronize a month of emails, I also setup my gmail as an IMAP account so I still have access to my old emails. The android email app is not as good as the gmail app IMHO, but it is a temporary solution, and new emails seem to show up faster this way!
AWESOME! The best I could do was use an app to back them up to vcard and that still eff'ed up all the names. Great work!
This is just the exchange synchronisation option from android nothing to do with gapps.
This thread isn't specific for Dream G1
I don't have Exchange, I just use Outlook at home with my POP3 account, is there any software I can use to Sync my Outlook emails to my phone (Android 2.2), just through USB sync? I can't find any.
I've got my contacts & calendar sync'ing fine, through HTC sync software.
This is so frustrating not having emails on my phone, I'm almost thinking of installing hMailServer onto my WHS box..
Appreciate the feedback.
HTC Desire HD.
configure your outlook to leave copy of messages on the server and add the same account to your phone using IMAP (or if you do not have IMAP access, set it as POP3 and also leave messages on the server)
I would have replied the same as the previous poster but maybe OP doesn't have a data plan?
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
That won't really sync with my outlook though, it's just checking the emails remotely, which I have been doing. I file all of my emails that I want to keep from my inbox into sub-folders, so I really need to sync my phone with Outlook.
Anyone else have some options before I start looking at setting up an SMTP server? Surely there's got to be something that will sync Outlook emails?
I was very surprised that the HTC sync software didn't do it!
I'm assuming by the lack of responce my only option is to setup a SMTP server..
I did find one cleaver idea, but isn't suitable for me, posting if anyone else is searching for a solution:
- Use Gmail (or similar) to pick up your email from your pop account
- Sync Outlook & phone with Gmail
The issue I have with this one is I use multiple domain names that I need to email out from..

This is the best method. You can actually pull multiple accounts into GMail (up to 5, I believe), and then you can also set Gmail up so that you can send as one of those accounts. The latest version of Gmail for Android lets you choose which account you then want to use - right there on your phone.
I have several accounts set up on my phone, all send and receive ok, but when I open up any of the accounts (except the exchange account) they only show unread mail. Any other mail in the inbox is not visible, although when on my computer outlook displays all inbox mail. Only had the phone a few days and cannot see what I settings I need to change, cannot find any threads relating to this.
It's a pain because I cannot lookup previous emails for info. etc.
Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction
IMAP vs POP
I am assuming that you have your outlook set up to access your email account using POP which causes Outlook to physically download and remove the data from the server. If you change your Outlook settings to use IMAP instead then the data will live on the server and you can access it from your computer, your phone, another computer using web-access etc.
To get this set up you can search the web for IMAP directions for your specific provider and outlook along with your phone.
Hope this helps.
Bob
Try to increase the sync duration for the seperate accounts. Are you going to individual accounts or trying to look at it from the combined view. Removing the account and adding back might help too.
Thanks for the replies, I had worked around the problem by forwarding any email from the 2 problem accounts to gmail. However they are POP accounts so will try altering to IMAP to see if that cures the problem.
Thanks again
So I setup my s8+ and setup my Gmail on the native email client. I selected as items arrive because I like having up to date email. When I go to delete a message on the S8+ it deletes, but shows a "deleted" sign and next to it "undo". I have since changed the setting to not ask to confirm, it still does it though. Now when I delete an email on the phone, it comes right back after a few seconds, I tested this with my Gmail opened on the website and it doesn't show deleted, however if I simply read them on the phone or mark them as read, it does correlate with Gmail and marks them as read. Testing the reverse, if I delete a message on Gmail, it does delete it automatically on the phone. What could be the problem? I've tried changing the web settings to auto expunge set to "off" and when a message is marked as deleted from the last IMAP folder move to the trash (used to be archive)
Maybe a bit more condensed. Basically the stock email app (s8+) has deleted emails keep popping back up. I have gmail on there with the "auto, as items arrive" setting. Marking as read does sync however., any ideas? Thank you!
My Gmail app has been doing this for a long time while using a secondary e-mail account within Gmail (My hotmail account).
I've never had a problem deleting Gmail e-mails though.
Just to clarify, this is for your GMAIL account correct?
Yeah, I am using the native Samsung Email client on the Galaxy s8+. When setting up my @gmail.com account., everything comes in quickly, marking as read works fine, the issue is when I delete an email, it comes back as soon as I refresh.
I have the same problem. And I think the reason is that your mail provider has the IMAP roth path folder named "INBOX"
But the samsung mail app has it as "Inbox"
This is why it works with Gmail and not other providers.
It can handle the incoming to place in correct folder. But when you delete it sends a request to the IMAP server to delete mail xxx placed in folder Inbox (Not INBOX)
And because there are no folder called Inbox on the IMAP server, nothing is removed.
Older samsungs/Android had both the option to "erase on server" and set "IMAP Root path folder" but the latest version don't
I have several accounts setup in the gmail app. Only one does this, my exchange email account for work. And it's not new and it's not related to the phone. This has been happening for years on multiple android versions and multiple devices when using the gmail client.
With third-party customers everything is in order and even with native problems did not notice.
"Unfortunately the stock android email app has the IMAP root folder names hard-coded in the app. They cannot be changed by user. The app expects the folders to be named
at the IMAP server exactly like this
Inbox
Outbox
Drafts
Sent
Junk
If IMAP-server uses different names the synchronization will not work properly"
So as I mentioned before. If Imap folder is named Inbox and not INBOX there might be problem. And it cant be fixed in other way than changing to a mail app that allows for manually setting the IMAP root folder name to INBOX
Me, too.

On my S8 phone I have 3 accounts (Gmail and TELUS) plus my Exchange account for work - and that's the only one that has this problem (Junk Folders messages reappear). Thank you for your post. Don't HAVE to have my work account on my phone so will remove it and hope that resolves this pesky issue.
