I seem to remember the jack from the head set breaking the socket on mine a few years back. I took mine apart and reset the socket. Everything works fine now as long as I dont use the std head set (use b/tooth instead)
Just search these forums and you'll fine a lot of posts about this.
I would try Orbs solution first though.
Mav
this happened to me b4 .. i had to change the socket :S
try cleanig it first, if this doesn't solve the problem find someone good with these devices and make him change the soket 4 u ((i used a socket from a broken universal))
there was a post from some russian guy regarding this matter. that's how i've fixed mine. try finding that post, but in short, you need to open your uni and fix the contact on headphone socket. you probably pluged in headphones with bigger jack...

Just out of interest, have you installed "SRS Wow"? That has a habbit of stpping the sound from the speakers. If you have, uninstall it reset and try again.
Jay
If not SRS WOW install issue
Get the Media Player to play any audio file and while it is playing carefully wiggle a very thin screwdriver in the audio socket. You will know if and when it works when the music will be heard out loud. Sometimes the contacts within the socket get mis-aligned by the earphone plug being pulled out, in particular if the audio works fine with earphones. Doesn't mean you need to replace the entire socket.
It works. Yesssssssssss

I have a hard time hearing the LG G2x's ringer even when using really loud or obnoxious ringtones. Is there anything I can do to plug my device into a System, PC, MP3 Player, BT Paired Speakers alone,et.. AND MAKE the Ringtone/Ringer come through these External speakers So that I can hear the ringtone on these really loud OTHER device's Speakers?
I have tried to just plug a 3.5mm (male to male) cord into an expensive MP3 Speaker system, and I was able to hear my audio (music, and application sounds) great, and loud! - but when I put a call into the G2x, the ringer/ringtone was SILENT. I don't know what else to do, there seems to be no options to force ringtone to ring through external speakers (even the PC would be fine if there was an app that had a type of UI on the PC for such a thing, I think mp3 players, or even ipod players may be an answer too, I just don;t know how ir could be set up,... But maybe I'm over-thinking this and it's actually something really simple that one of the more Android-tech-Savvy people can answer. I'm new to the Andriod scene and like the G2x, but I need it to be set to ring through LOUD speakers so I can hear it in another room if need be. Any suggestions would be great!

Hi everyone. I just got an HTC One X on AT&T today from the store. Up until today I had owned an SIII also from AT&T. The music player on the SIII kept freezing and the auto correct wasn't working so I changed to the One X. I listen to music a lot on my phones so I expect the music player to be reliable. Anyway, the music player on the HTC One X is great, however, it's been skipping to the next track without my touching the screen before the current song is finished. I was questioning my sanity because I figured maybe I was bumping the screen, but the player just skipped to the next song a few minutes ago and my hand was nowhere near it. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to eliminate it?
Naturally, this is somewhat discouraging as I've only had the phone for a matter of hours. A friend of mine is pressuring me to get an iPhone 5 (blasphemy!) and I'm actually considering getting one since android is clearly not cutting it at the moment. I understand there are other music players on the market but the simple reality of it is that I shouldn't have to download a 3rd party music app, plus, I actually like the stock app.
Thanks for reading!
EDIT: My library is all MP3 files, not an internet radio type thing if it wasn't obvious. The skipping doesn't happen too often, maybe a few times an hour. Beats audio is enabled when this happens, I haven't tried without.
Same Problem!
I have the same problem, when I'm listening to music the voice dialer suddenly pops up and starts dialing numbers from my call history to recent dialed or received numbers. this is so irritating. I installed an app called "headset Blocker" from Google play, it stopped the problem. But my question is why doesn't this phone support other companies earphones? And also whenever I put my headset into it, it displays the symbol of a headphone with mic, is it normal? If not what is the solution to this?

The reply above also raises an interesting point. Are you listening with headphones that have controls? Could you be pressing them, to make the track skip? If they are headphones meant for an iPhone, the buttons may not be doing what you think they should. Or their might be a short in the headset or the headset jack on the phone, that is making the phone think you are pressing the headset button. Have you tried another set of headphones, or listening on the phone's speaker?
Otherwise, try a factory reset, and if that doesn't solve it, swap it for a new one. Its not Android itself, I've never had this problem. Just a hardware or software defect with your particular handset, which can happen on any device, including the iPhone.

What do you mean by "support"? Do you mean, why don't the control buttons work on some headsets? Its because those controls were designed to work for an iPhone. Unfortunately, there aren't many headphones with buttons that work on Android out-of-the-box, but the mic should work fine (as well as the earphone audio, of course).
If you are trying to use a headset designed for the iPhone, and want the buttons to work, try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.chobirich.tools.mediabutton&feature=also_installed

Yes, that is normal. All it means is that headphones are attached. A bit obvious (as in, why do you need an icon to tell you that?). But intentional, nonetheless.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
I am using a pair of Sennheiser headphones, there are no controls on them. I performed a hard reset but the problem persists although less frequently. Do you still think I should exchange it for a new one? Since you brought up software defects, I will add that when I restart the phone or power it off, then back on; when I unlock the screen the dialer is shown instead of the home screen. This only happens during the first unlock, so to speak, after restarting. Of course I just press the Home key to get back to the home screen, but it's still a nuisance.
No controls in my earphone.
No, I'm not using earphones with controls. I'm just using an earphone I got from my previous android phone because the At&t version of HTC One X did NOT come with earphones. But I must say, when I listen to music without the earphones, everything is perfect, but when I insert my earphone the voice dialer keeps popping up, the clarity of music deteriorates, tracks go forward and backward and what not. This is also happening while watching videos using earphones. That is why I asked if this phone supports all standard 3.5mm jack earphones or only HTC earphones.
I was listening to audio on my Skyrocket in my car when I noticed the track I was listening to sounded off. I was listening to this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-DuC0tE7V4 (Lollipop by The Chordettes. yeah yeah, wtf? I had Lollipop Chainsaw on my mind for some reason at the moment..)
I noticed that the right speaker wasn't really coming through, or at least not completely. I don't know if this is isolated to my phone or if this is a CM10 issue. To double check this, I listened to this track via bluetooth to my cars' speakers, direct audio input, and also just listening on the phone itself and each time I couldn't hear the "far" right side of the track. I also tried this track as well and found the same issue (Dude Looks Like A Lady by Aerosmith)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf0oXY4nDxE
Anyone familiar with either of these songs will immediately recognize that something doesn't sound right (no pun intended). If you're not familiar, listen on your computer with some headphones and if you're experiencing the same thing as me then you'll notice it.
Is anyone else experiencing this or do I have a faulty install/phone on my hands? Sadly the warranty just expired, so I'm hoping it's not my phone, but I don't want to go and change my ROM unless I absolutely have to.
Sorry for the bump, but can someone please help me with this? This takes not even 30 seconds to test. You don't have to listen to both songs for more than 10 seconds each to realize if you're getting real stereo sound (minus the time you potentially get hit with the stupid YouTube ads.)
Hey, when i hear music over in ear headphones, then it is pretty quiet.
My old LG was much louder with the same mp3 files.
Only when i use the build-in speaker, then it is loud enough.
Somewhere i read that that is limited by the EU to prevent hearing damage.
But that doesn't help me, because all my MP3's are almost same db level (mp3 gain).
Is there a way to get it louder? Ofc. does my phone has root.

Try using this app from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.SpeakerBoost&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm1vYmkub21lZ2FjZW50YXVyaS5TcGVha2VyQm9vc3QiXQ..) It seemed to work for me on my Galaxy Y. I'm not sure about any other phones, I haven't even tried it on my Miro.

As I told someone else , Do what i did, find the app called earpiece in the play store. After you install it, open up a music player, play a song, crank up the volume and open earpiece app. Next.thick the audio trough earpiece box and see what happens. You should hear a huge difference and the sound isn't distorted. If nothing changes just click and un click it a few times untill you hear a difference. And also if that's not enough you can also thick the volume boost box but that, as far as I can tell makes your treble stronger and leaves out the bass. Anyways just try it and I can promise your volume will improve.
Btw this works great with the headphones, I haven't tried it on the speaker phone. So just try it out and tell me if it works
Well i've tested gamer649's app until now. And it doesn't work for me. I cant hear any changes, even with 100% loudness.
Earpiece also not worked for me. It only worked with the built-in speakers, but there was no change on the headphone loudness

Regarding the earpiece app, did you remember to click on the " Audio Trough earpiece"?
Try it and if you don't hear any changes try it again a few more times. Sometimes it takes a little while until the app changes the volume( even dough in my case it starts right of ).

Well, of course that works. It can change the loudness of the speaker on the back and from the front, but has no effect on the headphones. They still have the same loudness even when i pull it up to the max ...
You can always try custom ROM like me - CM10 works fine on J, minus few minor bugs. It's pretty loud and the equalizer is just some nice stuff. :good:
Hmm yeah, would be an idea.
But before i try that, i want to try to get it work. I've also written sony an e-mail, and they said, that they had to limit the loudness because of an EU law
we've already tried fixing the loudness in the stock firmware itself but it didn't work... no im on CM10 and enjoying the music !!!
Just bought Nokia Coloud Pop, and its is not working on my device(A110Q).
When I play music, only background music is being played, the voice is not audible
There a button on the headphone(remote controller), when I press, the voice is also audible along with the music, mean to say, it works fine with the button pressed, else not.
I called Nokia, they said the headphone is only for high end nokia devices.
So what I want to ask is that is there any way out?
are there apps to fix the problem, or any converter?
and out of curiosity, what causes this problem? I've faced this miss match of headphone with mobile phone many times.
Thank you in advance!

I damaged my earphones and tried using samsung's earphones and faced the same issue that u faced. I just applied tape on the mic so that it will always stay pressed and now it works perfectly. That's the best method
use earfones without mic
those works perfectly
Sent from my Micromax A110Q using xda app-developers app
people are suggesting crazy ways! dude, this way you can damage your sound IC, better buy a new headset, it won't cost you above 500 bucks, and will definitely save you the poison of getting your sound IC replaced.
'Jugaad' can sometimes prove drastic!
Thank's note......!!
Thank you very much man for posting this question.
I always had to hold the pin right when ever I heard something from my phone , but after I tried holding the remote button
the audio play's perfectly . Now it's just enough to hold the button without worrying about reseting the pin over and over again....
