Hey, when i hear music over in ear headphones, then it is pretty quiet.
My old LG was much louder with the same mp3 files.
Only when i use the build-in speaker, then it is loud enough.
Somewhere i read that that is limited by the EU to prevent hearing damage.
But that doesn't help me, because all my MP3's are almost same db level (mp3 gain).
Is there a way to get it louder? Ofc. does my phone has root.

It seemed to work for me on my Galaxy Y. I'm not sure about any other phones, I haven't even tried it on my Miro.

As I told someone else , Do what i did, find the app called earpiece in the play store. After you install it, open up a music player, play a song, crank up the volume and open earpiece app. Next.thick the audio trough earpiece box and see what happens. You should hear a huge difference and the sound isn't distorted. If nothing changes just click and un click it a few times untill you hear a difference. And also if that's not enough you can also thick the volume boost box but that, as far as I can tell makes your treble stronger and leaves out the bass. Anyways just try it and I can promise your volume will improve.
Btw this works great with the headphones, I haven't tried it on the speaker phone. So just try it out and tell me if it works
Well i've tested gamer649's app until now. And it doesn't work for me. I cant hear any changes, even with 100% loudness.
Earpiece also not worked for me. It only worked with the built-in speakers, but there was no change on the headphone loudness

Regarding the earpiece app, did you remember to click on the " Audio Trough earpiece"?
Try it and if you don't hear any changes try it again a few more times. Sometimes it takes a little while until the app changes the volume( even dough in my case it starts right of ).

Well, of course that works. It can change the loudness of the speaker on the back and from the front, but has no effect on the headphones. They still have the same loudness even when i pull it up to the max ...
You can always try custom ROM like me - CM10 works fine on J, minus few minor bugs. It's pretty loud and the equalizer is just some nice stuff. :good:
Hmm yeah, would be an idea.
But before i try that, i want to try to get it work. I've also written sony an e-mail, and they said, that they had to limit the loudness because of an EU law
we've already tried fixing the loudness in the stock firmware itself but it didn't work... no im on CM10 and enjoying the music !!!

Media player now its loud, havent test it in incoming ringtones or bluetooth.
It doesnt sound well when SRSWOW is on.
The problem is that there is not enough power available from the audio amplifier. This can't be corrected with software.
What this .cab does is probably that it tries to increase the amplification beoynd the capabilities of the device. This may make the sound seem louder, but as you have noticed, it also increases distortion. There is no workaround for the laws of physics...
So we are really really stuck with a very inferior product.

Did you change the dll file in the registry so that if points at the right one? Its been written a couple of times the the SRSWOW cab going about set the wrong values in the reg. So I think this should be an easy fix if you do a bit of searching. Try the Daimond forums.
Either this problem varies from device to device, or then Ijust dont understand how loud you guys need...

@WizP: I'll do a search for the fix.

I have my volume set to the halfway mark. I'm talking about the conversation volume, only settable while in a call, not the system or ringer volumes.
Those that are reporting low volume, is it the ringer, system, or call volume you are complaining about? In other words, is it the front or the rear speaker that's producing low volume?
The ring volume is more than fine, it's just the speaker volume when in a call, when outsuide you can hardly hear it
Yes, I concur.
I've got my in call volume at maximum and you can still barely hear the other person.
Before you ask, I don't have a screen protector covering the earpiece.
I still wonder - I havent had any problems with incall voice. Can hear person very clearly even outside in traffic noise.
Could this really be single device problem, or maybe operator dependant?
With that audiopara file in my raphael (ROMeOS V.1.05) the speakerphone volume is now hugh, the music playback is loud, but a little disorted, but j think that there was no serious change in incoming ringtones (though j use only wav files-that are much louder from mp3's.
As far as the disortion a new modified audiopara file that suits well with Raphael should make the difference.
J will try some mods with SRSWOW..
Worked here... But the sound is VERY distorted..
Couldn't find a way around it with SRS (Tried treble reducer) and no luck.
I can´t even here when I´m talking to somebody, but I still have that plastic over the earpiece but still! There´s NO sound at all through it (well really really low), I have max volume, will it get better with the screenprotecter that doesn´t block the small speaker?

REMOVE THAT. It's the same thing if I tried to yell to you with a wall in between us. Sound has difficulty traveling through a medium, specially a piece of plastic.

Well... yes sit can because:
1. There are several related problems that are not seen in all devices.
2. Not all Raphaels [Touch Pro] are the same model, make or version.
or maybe operator dependant

It can never be related to the operator because:
1. The operator's interaction with the device is the one of a comm carrier.
2. It's only possible influence would be with/thorough the radio, never the ROM.
3. The operator cannot directly interact with the hardware.
Cheers.

how do you install this?
The sound is distored cause tripp modified the values of the gain but put it too high. If some one could put lower values it would be great. I tried but didn't manage . I also tried to put the values of the HTC NIKE but it resulted in a lower sound that the original one.
How to install audiopara (to 'ekerbuddyeker")
Get in /Windows,search for audiopara3.csv, MAKE A BACKUP, use resco exp. and copy the new audiopara to /Windows, soft reset and done.

Well for me this file really fixed the sound of my device, specially the earspeaker!! Now I have to lower the system sound so I don't get deft
I recommend everyone to use it...
So do u actually mean that this cab file has increased the volume on a call or just the general sound???
Have you noticed the extremely low volume of the G1 speaker. i can bearly hear the audio whever i play mp3 or video files. Even the phone ringing is relatevly low compared to any phone i have ever owened!!!
Is there a way to alter the hardware setting and get higher volume out the speaker???
Seems fine to me, doesnt seem too low, mayb its the mp3 ur using. I raise the volume of my files with itunes, but even the default sounds on the G1 seem fine.

Yeah, adjust music/video volume using the keys on the side of the phone while playing a song.
I'm sure you already did that so.... there's a program called volume control that let's you adjust every volume setting the phone offers. Also, my speaker has never been that loud anyways but that program helps a bit.
Any one of you guys know where i can but a new speaker phone peace/thing for the G1. I blew mines out with the volume hack. -.- Thanks in advance.
I've noticed the low volume on Cyanogen's ROM, but on every hero ROM I've tried it seems MUCH louder.
I've noticed it too, but I've always used Meltus' AudioHack app to correct that problem.
The only thing I noticed on the G1 that is weak would be the vibrate. That is pretty weak.
My phone started doing this before donut was out. I was using Xrom, and thought it was the rom causing it. I'm running Dwang 1.13 now, and discovered that my issue is being caused by T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail apk. The speaker would work great until I opened VV. The VV apk, routes the media sounds through the headset speaker, like when holding the phone to your ear in a phone call, but it doesn't always re-route the media sounds (and ringer for that matter) back to the loud speaker. There is a hack/apk/widget out to fix it, claiming it to be a cupcake issue, but I only had it happened to me after using VV.
To figure out if you have the same issue, block the loud speaker with your finger and play a song. If it gets louder when you remove your finger from covering the loud speaker, then you have a different issue. If it stays the same volume, block and unblock the headset speaker to see if it changes.

If you are running MT3G/Magic You can also try this on the G1 to see if you get better sound
CM's system usually doesn't add the MT3G Sound XML
Download and run this: http://drop.io/tfwtv3d/asset/volmt3g-signed-zip
If this doesn't help, use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517745
i had this more then one , dont know for sure bit this is after i did a switchrom, a simple reboot is a fix

This problem is really annoying, can someone post a link to the fix for me, I haven't been able to find it.
This also happend to my phone. Started with the last stable before the whole google thing with cyan. Tried a hero rom and it was pounden out sound.
So if anyone does have any insight on how to fix this, with reasoning, that would be nice. No "i did this and reset and it just worked" stuff.
Thanks
Also wish my G1 would be louder when a phonecall came in. My older HTC Juno was extremely loud which I prefer because Im not where my phone is 100 percent of the time.
I would also greatly appreciate some insight on how to make the speaker louder with some tweaks and or apps.
Thanks in advance.

Use Meltus' audio hack, it makes the phone really loud. I suggest using g7-6r2
Aye, that should do it
Also, for people experiencing routing problems, my files might also fix that too.
The G7 files included fixes so that they would run on the Cupcake/Donut/Hero/Sapphire. It might fix it, i'm not promising anything though

+1 If your G1 is quiet download Audio Hack from the market and it will not be quiet anymore. People tell me all the time, "dude your phone is ridiculously loud". I love it..
Meltus' app is amazing, i used to hate when i went to show everyone a video from youtube and you cant hear nothing when your out in public. Def recommend it to anyone who thinks their speaker is low.

Your welcome.
My G1 speaker is terrible!
The other end hears constant echo, and it's very soft for me to hear anything.
The kick drum in some songs in Pandora sounds really ugly. It sounds like it would if your headphones were broken, but I am sure my headphones are fine. I am not an audio expert so I do not know the technical term (fart noise maybe?). It is really annoying and it ruins the songs, especially songs with loud kick drums (Deadmau5). Does anyone else have this problem? It happened on every ROM I've used.
Negative. What version of Pandora are you using? I have the "Red Unlimited" app installed on mine and I use Smart Android's Equalizer application.

Are you using Pandora One?
DeadMau5 on mine actually had the same broken sound you're describing. It's just a lot of bass that has to do with the quality of the file. After I upgraded to Pandora One, it went away because of the higher bitrate. Now it makes the same noise if I turn it up super loud. If you don't have Pandora one, just do the 1 day trial and go onto your phone and select High Quality under settings to see if that helps.
I was searching all over the play store for a way to boost the music sound and nothing was working in fact it would make the sound worse and lower than it already was and this is another thing we can't change without root permissions but luckily I found PowerAmp and this app literally made the music almost 50% louder so if you like your music louder I suggest you give it a shot and it can easily be found on the play store! Make sure you learn to use the equalizer and pre amp features because it makes it extremely loud but if you go into the settings and turn on the gain levels you can make it so loud that it's going to hurt your ears so just a warning lol.. Google Play Store PowerAmp!
My issue is not so much the speaker but the ear piece for calls. It just seems very low. I have issues hearing everyone unless it is cranked.... and it is still not loud enough.
Does PowerAmp affect the ear speaker too?
Update: I am guessing not since this is a "music player"

No this is only when you're playing music or videos through the PowerAmp player. Have you tried adjusting the hearing settings in settings then accessibility and Hearing? See if that may help or you can go through Settings then Sounds and Vibration and tap Sound Quality And effects and go through the entire process.

@mmw68666
What are you trying to say? Lol..
It should be noted that the lower the bitrate of the audio file being played, the lower you will be able to increase the pre-amp level before getting massive distortion. I bought PowerAmp long ago and have used it almost exclusively, and the pre-amp I generally set pretty high, but most of my audio is FLAC with some 320WMA mixed in and the rare 192 and lower for rare stuff I had to rip from Youtube or other less than ideal sources. With FLAC files you can boost the pre-amp quite high and lot lose any quality or introduce any distortion. Using my Sony MDR-XB500 headphones and FLAC files, and the PowerAmp pre-amp, the audio levels easily get to painful/damaging-to-your-ears levels without distortion, but "standard" bitrate music (192kbps-ish) starts to distort pretty low on the pre-amp.
Hi!
1º Sorry my English. I try to explain but maybe i don't use the best words.
I don't know if is only my phone or not.
The volume on headphones is too low, I try with originals and others headphones (apple, beats, sony...) via bluetooth , USBC, USBC-Converter... and is horrible
I don't want to have a disco on my heads, :silly: but yes, I want to listen my music a few strong as a others phones.
Maybe is a limitation on Europe, because the quality of sound is so good, but the volumen... Meh
Thanks!!!
I read on theverge and mashable that there is suppose to be a DAC/AMP coming as an accesory. But so far I have only seen the freebuds.... My Galaxy S8 is certainly louder than P20....The Quality itself seems good though.
The only trick I know is too enable Dolby Atmos, then go to Music profile, and then "off" then you get a little more loudness and a graphical EQ that is flat. I think that should be a profile without DSP stuff going on. But most natural to me sounds with Dolby atmos disabled. But then it really struggles with volume.
Spotify has this option for example so you can set it up I think. Personally I dont need more volume. Usually using a bit more than the half of the bar.
It is a bit quieter than other phones I used but definitely not too quiet. Maybe you should go check your hearing ?
In ear headphones can be really damaging to hearing when listening on louder volumes.

Your concern is right, vol are very low even with 3rd party headphones , average volume I have to set is around 60-70% always
volume is low when there are too much noise in the background. maybe bcoz of the noise cancellation (or maybe you have ear problem). im using both apple earbuds and the huawei earphones, Pulsar+ player with in-app EQ manually adjusted + Dolby Atmos EQ adjusted to music. volume is too loud for me at 60%, my base %%% for me even in my ASUS Zenfone 5

Good increase in volume. Hope that helps someone.

My wife's mate 20 pro have similar low volume issue with her bluetooth headset and I did this to resolve the issue.
You are going to need to change the Bluethooth audio codec in the "developer options"
You'll need to search for how to get into the developer options on the internet because I can't link as a new user.
I believe you'll need your bluetooth headset connected before you can make any changes otherwise the option to change will be greyed out.
Basically I changed the Bluetooth Audio codec from ACC (which seems to be the default) to SBC. After this, the max volume dramatically improved.
For some reason, options like
Bluetooth Audio Sample Range, Bluetooth Audio Bits Per sample, Bluetooth Audio Channel Mode, Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec are greyed out even when the bluetooth headset is connected while I checked on another android phone that these are options you can actually play with.
I wanted to change these to see if it'll actually improve bluetooth audio. Either way, I'm happy that changing this works. Let me know if it help for you guys as well?
Settings -> Sounds -> Dolby atmos -> pick "music" -> adjust all levers in the equaliser at the bottom of the screen to +x dB. I maxed out all levers to +12 dB. And voila you've got more volume without changing any relation between different frequencies.

Thanks a million m8! Works for me. Now I can't have volume much above 60% without being uncomfortably loud.
P.S. had to reboot my P30 Pro after changing the codec setting to SBC before the new setting was activated.
Most things depend on what headphones you are using the stock Huawei headphones are so-so... not really worth it either Apple.. When I plugged in my Sennheiser the sound was x2 louder, after that I also got Huawei AM61 sports bluetooth headphones which are great as well. Pay attention to OM as well it is not recommended to use more than 32 OM on a phone without an amplifier.
