Good idea for backlight control

Alright.. as we all know looking at our phones in the bright sunlight is a pain, so I was trying to figure out a good way to control the backlight without having to do too much work. I was thinking that we could assign a hard key to launch an application, and then from there our volume controls or scroll wheel could adjust the backlight. Is there a program that does something similar already?

Why not use a plugin?
Or, if you want a hardware button assigned, create a shortcut, .lnk, name it "Backlight.lnk", throw it in the "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs", and there you go!
Edit: Here's the shortcut attached, just make sure you change it from ".txt" to ".lnk"
That didn't work for me.
Oops, forgot to delete the first few words, here it is, should work.
I kept searching around and I came across this:

This worked just fine. I mapped it to my Voice Record button. Now I can just hold the button, and adjust the backlight with my scroll wheel.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Borg. Check my signture link. I have a link for nuelight3 which allows you to use the light bulb on the camera as a flashlight. I am using it on my xv6800now.
Good Luck.
hTorch worls GREAT!!! and can be found here on XDA
Hey Juke can you possibly supply the cab for nuelight? The link to download it is broken on the page I found...
Nevermind I found it elsewhere. It works perfect! I mapped it to a button. My top left button is Gmail (java), my internet button is Skyfire, my "button 5" is volume control in S2U2, my "Hold button 5" is the light bulb, my button underneath the power off button is Task Facade for easy switching, and my camera button remains the same.
SURE. Here it is.

UPDATE: Tested myself: no it doesn't work for HTC Wizard

How to suspend device with GPS still working?

As we know, WM has its oem locker, which can turn off (suspend) the device after some time period. This unfortunetaly turns off allso gps module.
I want to turn off my device when using GPS for tracking routes (Ozi Explorer), which means turning off display, locking hw buttons, but lets GPS working.
I looking for some app, that can do "turn off my device without turning odd gps" by one of the following:
* g-sensor
* nav sensor
* 2 hw buttons combination
* power button (instead of WM "complete" turning off)
Do you know about some app which can do that?
Touchlockpro, what is great app, unfortunetaly does not support G and NAV sensors in Diamond 2). I did not find any solution yet.
What do you use for tracking route with GPS for power management?
Thanks a lot
Ozi Explorer can do this without any additional software (File - Lock) ...
You can modify your Screen with Ozi Screen Designer, and then you have every function just a click away. The purple button on the screenshot
locks the keys and turns off the screen, logging continues ...

OziMods
Just try to load the PageFile and the Keyfile (File - Load xxx) and look, if it fits your needs ...

Great!
With that setup only screen is turned off, hw keys are not locked, but as I can see there are ways to configure it. I will try Ozi Screen designer. Thanks for perfect tip.

uuups, you're right, seems to be a problem with the Screen Designer CE. The function is definitively 'Display Off and Lock', but the keys are not really locked ... at least not on the TD2 ...
Edit: Just tried it again, Screen Off & Lock doesn't Lock the keys on TD2, no matter if you use the Menu to lock or a special Box in a custom design. On the TD1 it works as it should, so there's a different way to lock the keys on the TD2.

Volume control program

Hello.
I need a program which can control my phones volume but control screen have to open by taskbar icon.
One good example is VolumeX but this is only trial.
Just checked the Volumex website....but could not see if it opens from taskbar (in 6.5 ofcourse). Can you confirm?
You must set it up on the 3rd tab at Start > Volumex Settings

Yes, I confirm that I can open it from taskbar
Thanks....than I need to get Volumex....
Well the Volumex thingy really sucked for me. First of all, it's too complicated. A volume control program should be up-volume up, down-volume down and two other buttons for vibrate and silent profiles. I don't need the default volume and interval checking features. It's like programming your day once more for using the volume control program on your smartphone. And that's dumb. And it has some sort of fade-out feature that is really annoying because it runs so slow that you can actually see the steps of it dissapearing and when you want to actually change the volume it doesn't check for idle state because I was pressing the volume keys and the app was doing it's routine of fading out even as I'm using it. Paying 10$ for this app would be a serious waste. It seems like it's the easiest thing in the world to write an app for controlling the volume, yet there is no good one out there. Too bad as I'm stuck with the 3.1 look on the default 6.5.5 package.
I find the default volume and timer feature useful for work, I use min volume at work and max when I listen music with headphones... but when I end listening I always forget to restore it to min and my boss gets mad... Volumex reminds me to switch to default (min) volume.
Btw it costs 8.90 not 10
why dont just asine a mini prog on the one of the hard keys, like volctrl.exe ie,got one uploaded look @ me pfile

Igo8 (primo) (wince) backlight problem

Hi,
Here is my problem, hopefully someone can make some suggestions.
I have a 5in satnav with igo 8 primo on it. The backlight controls in primo do not adjust the backlight. This Nozatec unit is running wince6 and the processor is MStar semicondiuctor, Cortex-A9-MSB2531. There is a BacklightCTL.exe in \windows. When I run this a windows control is opened with a slider, 0-19, this adjusts the backlight. The control is labelled MStar too. On boot the unit opens to its own menu, not wince. This menu also has a backlight control which works. wince control panel, display, backlight tab, just has backlight timeout settings, both blank, no backlight adjustment. Reg edit shows not backlight setting in the registry. It doesn't seem possible to add an entry. There seems to be no keyboard in this wince so in regedit add new entry opens up a pop-up, incomplete (there is no explorer either), and clicking in the name value boxes gives no keyboard, the only option is to reboot with power button.
I guess igo primo might need a setting to tell it how to drive the backlight but I've tried that and only backlight_methods=45 seems to do anything and that is just to cause the unit to crash on loading primo and reboot. Maybe I need a dll I don't have?
Any suggestions or hopefully solutions?
Thanks
