Tips for Flashing:
1) Remove Sim Card and Memory Card inorder to avoid mishaps and possible interruptions to the flashing process or damage to the cards.
2) Follow step by step instructions. Although most flashing is standard across WM phones some different things have to be done for different ROMS and phones.
3) Make a back up of your original ROM, using one of the many utilities provided around. I will post up links to some of those soon.
4) Make up a back up of all your contents, and contacts because a flash erases everything stored to the phone's ROM memory.
5) Make sure nothing distrubs the flash process and it is being done from a computer with an uninterruptable power supply, so you do not damage or brick your phone.

This will sound retarded, but any way to RLOD your phone by flashing?

OK so here is the situation...after having this phone almost a year (and flashing it a billion times) it can no longer hold a charge. I tried changing the battery but the phone cant read the battery as being anything other than critically low.
Now I can't flash anything right now because the battery is under 50% charged (or at least thats what the phone thinks)...is there any way to flash the phone using mtty to the point where you could not even load up the bootloader and detect what radio/ROM is on it? Thanks in advance for the help guys. (obviously I want to know this because the phone is still under AT&T warranty)
anyone know?
If your phone can stay powered long enough to flash by SD, then I would just flash the stock ROM and return it. The condition it's in should be under warranty.
I'm no expert, but it is possibly a software issue since you blame flashing for the cause, and so flashing a complete package with SPL might solve it. Flashing SPLs is risky, and most likely not necessary if you're going to return the phone. But cmonex did just made it possible to flash by SD. -just so you know
Try the stock ROM, send it back.
SD Flash
Flash using your mircosd.
1. Download and extract rom to be flashed
2. Rename *.nbh file to KAISIMG.nbh
3. Transfer file to root of the SD card
3. Hold down camera button and press soft reset
4. Follow on screen instructions
BTW this is all in the FAQs file for the kaiser/tilt. Check the stickies on the kaiser general forum.
This is the only way I flash, and IMHO the safest and fastest.

long time..but i have a question!!!

is it possible to flash any hard spl through the sd??
because i seem to have a connection issue when trying to flash normaly even tho the phone is connected to active sync...

1. This is not the right forum to ask in. This is for ROM Development questions only. (That way we can all keep track of new ROMs and such.)
2. No. Flashing through SD requires either a properly signed NBH (which you can't get without working for tmobile if you have a wing or HTC if you have anything else) or a phone that already has HardSPL, defeating the purpose of flashing a HardSPL ROM.

Something Went Wrong - HardSPL

First of all, thank you to all the modders out there. Next, thanks to everyone who gave a little time to help me with my problem.
A little background: I have an ATT Tilt, it is about 18 months old and for the most part has been functioning great. I have had several different ROMs on here - I probably have had 12 or so ranging from 6.1 to 6.5 and back. I have been using HardSPL for as long as I can remember. The most current ROM I had was a clean 6.5 Build 23003. It was working really well, except for sometimes I couldn't get the phone to come out of sleep mode and I would have to soft reset. It started happening more and more frequently, so I decided to reflash to Ultimate-X2.V6 -23004. As I was reading through the thread, he recommended HardSPL 3.34 and Radio 1.71.xxx. No problem I said, so I went off to flash 3.34 to replace my 3.56 SPL. I was using a 1.65 radio, but I never got the chance to upgrade.
So thats where the problem starts. When I try to flash the 3.34 SPL (following the instructions and using JumpSPL) it flashes, but then the phone doesn't reboot. I figure the SPL wiped out something, so following the recommendations in the Ultimate X2 thread, I attempt to flash the ATT Stock ROM. I start the phone up in bootloader mode (the bootloader still says 3.56 - interesting eh) and then flash the ATT Stock ROM. The ROM installs but the phone never reboots...
I have tried flashing Radios and other ROMs and redoing the SPL, but the phone just doesn't boot. I can reliably get to the bootloader screen, but it still says 3.56. I tried following the Wiki for "Kaiser Stuck in Bootloader" and flashing ROMs or SPL that way, but it still doesn't work.
I would also love to give you guys that diagnostic information (I should have done this last night) because I was able to view it, but now when I try to boot KAISDIAG.nbh from the memory card it just sits at "Loading...".
I have tried just about every step of different ways of flashing, different SPLs, etc. If there is anything anyone can recommend or try I am more than willing.
Let me know if you need more information or I need to clear anything up.
Again, I appreciate everyone taking time to read this and offer up their expertise.
Thanks,
OutrightLie
Only thing i can suggest is flashing 3.56 again with th SD card. Then 3.34 with the SD card. Or have you tried that already?
Just wondering... do you removed SIM card before flashing your new HardSPL?
I *think* I have tried that.
Does JumpSPL do anything other than put the phone in Bootloader mode? Or is all I have to do, just copy the *.nbh to the memory card, rename it to KAISIMG.nbh and then let it go. If JumpSPL does something more, I may be in trouble because I can't get to an OS.

I did remove it the first time, and a few times after that while trying stuff. The first time - for sure. Other times, it was in or out while I was just playing around with stuff. Hopefully something I did subsequently didn't make the problem worse.
Are there any steps I can take to if I did leave the SIM card in during a troubleshooting flash that screwed it up?

From SD. You will need kaisdiag.nbh and then rename Spl to kaisimg.nbh. Have those both on root of card.

I will try that. I need a memory card reader here at work, so this may have to wait until I get home. The only roadblock I see, is right now I have just KAISDIAG on the memory card and it gets stuck at "Loading..." when I attempt to boot. It didn't do this last night, but this morning it seems get stuck there.

I have one in my share folder. Might wanna get it and format the card..remember it has to be fat32 and replace the kaisdiag and SPL just to be safe.
I will give it a shot when I get home tonight - unless I can find a memory card reader before then.
Thanks!
Follow exactely this thread

Note your sdcard should be formated FAT32
I just got home. I copied the KAISDIAG.nbh and the 3.56 bootloader (called it KAISIMG.nbh) to the memory card after formatting it to FAT32. It attempts to load the KAISDIAG, but stops at "Loading...". I tried both a 2GB SD Card and an 8GB card, still no luck.
Any other things I can try?

Rogers RUU for EVO 3D that doesn't boot

ROGERS RUU RECOVERY METHOD FOR ROGERS EVO 3D PHONES
Hello, I am new to XDA and I don't know much about rooting, but unlike most noobs, I am not here to ask for help.
A few days ago I was trying out rooting and was pretty pleased with what I could do, so I went ahead and tried to flash my stock rom to VIPER rom. This did not work as planned, as I tried to flash my phone with a CDMA rom, and not a GSM rom. My phone is a GSM phone. This obviously left my phone hanging at the HTC screen, and I thought I wrecked my beautiful 500$ phone. After 5 hours of frantic research, at 3 o'clock in the morning, I discovered something called an RUU. Unfortunately, most of them were for US phone providers, and me being from Canada, I had a rogers phone. After trying a few(and failing), finally, I found an RUU that could work, but it was an executable, and would not connect to my phone. As I had access to REVOLUTIONARY, I could still access my files on my sd card, and wondered if I could extract the PG86IMG.zip and put it on my sd card to do a factory reset and reinstall everything. Luckily, it actually worked and my phone was brought from the dead and ran as if I just bought it.
So in the next few posts I will explain how to do it for the few who are in the same situation as me with a ROGERS EVO 3D. This most likely will not work for any other phone. It might work for another supplier's GSM EVO 3D, but I have not tested it and I don't recommend it unless you have nothing else to try or you really want rogers bloatware.
Procedure
PROCEDURE
This procedure SHOULD work if you have a ROGERS EVO 3D phone, as I imagine they are all the same. However if it doesn't, you must realize that you are doing this at your own risk and I am not responsible if your phone gets damaged in any way.
NOTE: This will set the phone back to its original state when you first bought it.
If your phone was SIM Unlocked, it will not remove the Unlock.
1. Make sure your phone is charged. I don't know what could happen if you run out of juice when flashing back to stock ROM but I don't want to and I have a feeling that neither do you. Just leave it plugged in to the wall for two hours just to be safe.
2. Before you do anything, make sure that you can get into the HBOOT. This is fairly easy, just take out the battery, put it back in and then hold both the power button and the volume down button until the HBOOT shows up. If it does show up, great, shut off your phone and move on to the next step. If it doesnt show up, keep trying. After 3 tries if it doesnt work, there are three reasons for this.
A) Your phone isn't charged. Plug it into the wall for two hours.B) Your HBOOT is screwed up and you cant reach it. I can't help you with that. Look somewhere else or take it in to your warranty/provider.C) You are having hardware problems. Faulty battery, phone charger not working, power button not working, volume button not working, all things you might want to check if you can. Look somewhere else or take it in to your warranty/provider.
3. Access your/a microSD. You might have noticed when you went inside your HBOOT that it was searching for a file. That file is actually the file that we need that will allow us to reset the phone to provider default. There are two different ways to access this.
A) Take out the card and connect it to the computer using a adapter. This is probably the easiest way and is almost guaranteed to work.
B) Since you have rooted your phone (and are in this unfortunate position) you might be familiar with a tool called REVOLUTIONARY (Previously called ClockWorkMod). Note this is only available if you have REVOLUTIONARY installed. You can access it in the HBOOT by scrolling down using the volume buttons to RECOVERY, hitting the power button to select, in REVOLUTIONARY going to mounts and storage and then select mount USB storage. Connect the usb adapter in both your phone and in your computer. It will show up in My Computer as if it is a flash drive. I used this method.
4. Download this file: http : //www . filefactory . com/file/49tsgwxc6bd3/n/FACTORY_RECOVERY_File_For_ROGERS_EVO_3d_zip (Remove the spaces. I am not allowed to post links till 8 posts in total so I must do this.)
Mirror:
5. Put the attached file onto the hard drive. Extract the "FACTORY_RECOVERY_File_For_ROGERS_EVO_3d.zip" and place the "PG86IMG.zip" on the root of the microSD. Plop the card back in the phone, turn off the phone once again and re-enter into HBOOT. The phone will find the PG86IMG.zip file and then ask if you would like to update. Scroll to yes, press the power button to select it, and watch. This process should take up to 3 - 6 minutes.
6. Once everything is said and done, it might reboot, but if it doesn't you can reboot it yourself. Start up your phone, and watch in amazement when your ROGERS screen appears and the phone comes back to life.
RE-ROOTING
This guide is pretty much a slightly modified version of zedomax's guide on youtube, and should work for any CDMA phone (but I can't confirm it) and certain GSM phones, including Rogers.
Re-rooting is a bit more sketchy as rooting for the first time (at least it was for me).
This guide is only for windows computers (Since the mass population of people only use windows, and if you have a mac, you probably have an iPhone. If you have Linux, you probably know how to make a unicorn pop out of the phone, so you don't need a guide.)
Before you do anything, you need to check the HBOOT version. This is absolutely crucial. Some HBOOT's are not supported, so if you try with the wrong HBOOT, you might totally destroy your phone. For good this time.
To be continued...
I realise that there may not be many people in the same position as me for a while, so feel free whenever to send me a message if you need help. I will most likely keep the files for a few years on my external hard drive.

Hello!
Is this a recovery for Android 4? If not, were you able to update back to 4 after recovery?

No unfortunately, but then I didn't attempt to fix it either. I just stayed with the stock OS because I didnt feel like I needed to update it that badly.

[Q] No USB "soft brick" fixes?

Hi All!
I've run into a big problem that I can't fix, which is a new one for me. Not because I don't know how, but from hardware issues.
TMOUS Pyramid, S-On, HBOOT 1.27, 4ext R3, (was) running Viper 5.0 when this happened. 16gb Class 6 SD card was in and is used for mass storage as well as CWM backups. Approx. 4.5gb remained.
I backed up Viper 5.0 to return to a CM 10.2 install by restoring a backup when this all happened.
Worst part is, I was hoping to adb fastboot and fix this manually by starting at stock, but it would seem my USB port is dead. 3 cables, one new, not one will connect the phone to the computer.
I've tried flashing from the SD to no avail (S-On), and without USB connectivity I can't flash a stock RU, much less commands in adb.
What is my recourse for repair? I don't want to sink a lot of money into this thing replacing a USB socket, but I do need an Android phone. (using a Nokia N95 at the moment and I'm getting envious of LG Allys'...lol)
Why can't you flash from sdcard using smartflash in recovery?
Trust me, I've tried flashing different roms/firmwares and even extracted a stock ICS 3.32 RU and tried flashing that to no avail. It just sits at the HTC screen.
It takes about 4 minutes to flash a stock zip as PG58IMG, which tells me it's writing something, but it still sits there and does nothing after I reboot it.

Well as i understood, you can try to copy/paste rom/nandorid to your SD via some card reader or with another phone, n95 has micro sd slot as i remember, and after that turn back your sd into your sensation and flash rom/nandroid ?

OK, to clarify a little...
I can use any SD card I want and 4ext will find it. If I have any nandroid backups, I can turn on smartflash, navigate to the backup and restore it, as long as the MD5 checks out of course.
Same thing if I have flashable .zips on the card: I can turn on smartflash and flash any working firmware/rom I want, add the gapps package if needed and reboot.
In ANY situation, when the phone reboots, it stays on the HTC logo screen and never boots.
IDK if the partition structure is farged or the boot sector isn't being read correctly, but without USB I can't see whats going on in ANY partition.
It would be great to find a flashable package with a root file viewer, maybe Aroma file manager?
No USB connection work on RECOVERY, nothing on bootloader?????
On the PC no sound when connectiong

Not one cable works, and I've tried 2 computers, one Winblows and one Crunchbang...no data + or - connection.
So no, I cannot adb or flash a RUU...
Impossible either to charge the battery with a charger. If USb not recognize..????
Try QHSUSB_Drivers_(x64) or QHSUSB_Drivers_(WinXP_32)

I guess I could "manually" fix this if I could find a file manager that allowed me to work with MTD0/misc and possibly copy the files from another "working" Pyramid. The problems are almost exactly the problems I have with mine, except mine doesn't even boot, although I can get to recovery and (supposedly) flash roms and restore from previous backups, which show up in the "info" section upon next reboot into 4ext.
I've worked with base Qualcomm chips and SoC before, sending commands through terminal and such, but I had working USB...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
This was what I've found on it so far...I wonder how many Sensations are borked and sitting in a drawer because of this?
Nothing at all?
Good, time for me to run this thing over with the car and get another nearly bulletproof Infuse... this time without an exploding battery.
