How to disconnect GPRS via code? (eg Mortscript)
I mean just launching a script, without use CommManager or the "bubble"...
There must be a way. Some people have written software that turns 3G on/off, so there must be a similar way (without using something that switches the connection off after a few time)...
Thanks in advance for any answer...

Any help?

I knew that command, but it doesn't work on my device (and in others too)...
Please help!
If i'm not mistaken, in the main Mortscript Examples thread in the dev&hack section there's a script to automatically download emails using a data connection. you can see if it contains that script.

Thanks for this trick....
Do you know what is the reg key which is editet with this simple operation?
Is there any possibility to simulate long press red button to disconnect GPRS via code?
I too would love to find a key button way or larger touch screen way to manually disconnect the data connection. The 3G sign is so small - I have to take out the stylus.

well depending on the build of your rom, the long press end key will end data connection if yoyu so wish, you just have to select the item in the settings as decribed above. I dont see the need for script or code to do this if your rom supports the function anyway?
That's great advice - thanks but my rom is obviously different.
ie. In the pulldown menu for button functions - there is no end option. The nearest thing is OK/Close but long holding that changes the speaker/vibrate - it doesn't effect the data connection..
Sorry I was assuming we needed to add a different function to one of the hardware keys. In which case an `end' was not in the pulldown options for button assigning. I finally realized that simply pressing the call end key itself does indeed disconnect the data connection.
Thanks a lot for your help.
no problems my friend

You can either tap the connectiin icon in pick disconnect in the bubble, or press the red-button for a few secs.

Thank you for your reply, but this is a Tornado, not PDA. Holding the Red Button for a few seconds do cut off the GPRS, but it also locks the phone. I'll have to press the "*" key to unlock it. Very annoying.
For Typhoon, you can hold the Camera button for a few seconds, and there will be a dialog for choosing whether to cut off GPRS. But it seems not to work for Tornado... :?
Pressing the red button twice will also work. And that wont lock the phone.

Why not use the Comm Manager (bring it up by pushing the upper left button on the side) and hit number 5, that stops data flow (GPRS). This is the SPM5 I'm talking about; one of the many Tornado versions.
If I open comms manager, option 5 is not selectable (ie greyed out ish).

That means you are not doing data transfer, so no worry. Do you just want G to be invisible?
I supose I was assuming the 'G' denotes the device is holding the GPRS context, which I would have though would affect battery life. It's just if you turn the device off, the 'G' does not show up unit AFTER you have made a GPRS connection (ie open the browser), hence I assumed because the 'G' does not extinguish this means Iam still connected.
Does anyone know if keeping the GPRS context open uses more battery than just GSM, since it's the same radio stack I would imagine?
Hope this makes sense... thanks
How can I do this on a Tmobile SDA (US) ? It's the SP4m if I am not mistaken. Thanks!
hi,
can anyone tell me how to disable T9 perminently via a reg hack? i am using wm6 and i have done the alt-space bar command, but sometimes at power up the t9 mode restarts and does not allow me to enter numbers so i cannot unlock my device and end up hard resetting it. i think this will be easier then bypassing the device lock password.
thanks
If you want to enter numbers, you should be able to just hold down the button that has the number. For example, to enter a "2" press and hold "E".

i take it you didnt actually read the very first post in this thread.......thanks for trying but reading the question usually leads to a better result, lol
Strange... mine stays off with alt-space until I turn it back on -- through multiple reboots, even after one of those endless-rebooting sessions...
my problem is random. it will work fine for a couple of reboots, then lock up, or sometimes it will not get past the first reboot. very frustrating as i am on the road all day i rely heavily on my smartphone. looks like i will be waiting for a rom upgrade
I Have a S620 Italian..
How to activate T9 or similiar?
Thanks
to turn t9 off on an S620 wm6

You can use CeRegEdit to edit your registry from your computer
still waiting for a way to completely disable T9

Apologies if this has been asked before but a quick search of the forums and google came up with nothing.
I have my long press end key set to lock my device, which works great to prevent accidental key presses, etc. while in the pocket or case. However, I think that 5 seconds is too long to have to press the key. Is there any registry setting that would allow for, say, a 2 second duration to activiate the long key press function? Similarly, I am using the tweak that allows for a long press of the phone key to open messaging, but, again, 5 seconds seems overly long. Thanks in advance.

Regarding locking the device, try firing up advanced config and use the lock function which locks the device when you power it off (standby). really usefull.
Where is that setting? Sounds useful but I can't seem to find it.
Thanks,
Steve

Is there a way to assign a button (preferably begin or end call) to toggle wifi? I find myself turning it on and off even when home since it's such a battery hog.
TIA!!!,
Richard
yeah, that would be good
or even an .exe that toggles wifi would be great, so I would put in the programs tab
I hate opening commmanager every time

Yep, an exe would work fine!
Just posted the same on the other thread but here is the solutions.
After a quick search on Google I found a freeware application HButton. This program has a wifi toggle and it can be set to PTT button to turn on/off wifi. I just not tested this program and it is working fine. Here is the link for the program

Even a better simpler freeware program found -- aktogglewifi

I use AE Button Plus. I remapped my Fuze's PTT button to toggle WiFi and the Torchlight on longpresses.

When I was using AEBP to do this, I found two problems: first, the action I assigned to single-press was also being performed by the Home key. (Obviously, that can be avoided by just leaving single-press unassigned or by not using the Home key.) Second, I found that keys on my slide-out QWERTY would occasionally repeat 6-8 times, some random key every 20-40 keystrokes.
Are you not having these problems with AEBP? If not, could you explain in a bit more detail which method you used to disable the AT&T PTT functionality and how you assigned that key in AEBP? Thanks!

My pleasure.
I'm looking for something similar to toggle of/one EvDO on Verizon.
I'm in a poor signal area and my battery gets killed when it keeps going between 1x and EvDO.
I'd like to have some easy way (I do it now through the ##* "secret" menu, but it's enough of a pain that it's not worth it) to do this.
Any ideas?
well for the wifi problem you just could have pressed an hold the answer button. the wifi tab opens and you can toggle WLAN, Bluetooth an phone
I have tried AE Button Plus v2.6.6 and looked at all the possibilities to 'Convert' volume slider to up/down arrows. There is no setting that I can find to do this. Has anyone found a way to do this? It states in the AE Button Plus documentation that this can be done.
Thank you in advance.
i don't know what phone you're using, but every windows phone i've used has been able to do it pretty easily.
in AE, choose one of the volume button and go to the button edit screen and choose "handle by AEBPlus"
select single press and then on the third drop down menu, choose "Press up arrow key" or whichever and you should be set
SortInchKey
I use this and it works well :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3243488&postcount=233
But it's difficult to configure.

3/6/09 - Did a Softreset today and now the Arrow Up and Down do not work. Reverted back to Volume up and down? Retried what I did before, checked settings and they are correct. Does it matter that I have an Unregistered version? I do have the INK in my startup.
Maybe it does...

Apparently it does, because when I installed my old version 2.6.2 it does work. However, if I try to install 2.6.6 I need a new Serial number. So, the newer versions require additional $$$$$. No more free upgrades. That is really getting expensive now. Thanks for your help!
On the wizard there was a cab called smartskey which changed the volume slider. I can't remember exactly what it did though - it might help you.
