As everyone knows that WM even 6.1 stupidly tries to make adjustments to a custom wallpaper (Today -> use this picture as the background).
Is there a way to prevent WM from doing that?
If it's not possible, is there something out there that can take a pre-made theme and somehow change the background image and reload that theme again? I know you can create themes and all but I have a lot of wallpapers so I would like that to be done automatically, not manually one by one.
Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

if i got you right,you have problem with transparency...run default WM picture viewer,if you can't find it in start>programs look in windows folder for an app called "pimg", run it, find picture you want...hold stylus on the picture until menu appears or press right softkey select "set as today background..." after that set transparency to 0% and hit ok....you have a opaque wallpaper

I Deffinately don't want to discourage the development of you own app but if you don't want to spend a lot of time on this I believe it has already been done. If it is not to your liking, full steem ahead!!
Thanks for letting me know but would you please tell me if it has already been done then what is the name of "it"? Where can I find "it"? Did some search but to no avail.

I'm interesting too, but to make a mortscript to do the same like this.
I want to change the wallpaper, using a registry key which contain weather and show the background according to the weather.
Could you explain which registry key and how to refresh the today screen please ?

Edit : only thing I've found in registry is that :

But I don't see how to give the full path, I mean 32 is for my 32.jpf file which is located in special path.

I guess to change the background for the today you have to overwrite some files in \windows, the stwater_320_240 and the stwater_240_320 (maybe in your device the files have other numbers, because these are related to your device's screen resolution ).

About the reloading/refreshing of the today screen, I don't know how.

Does anyone know how i can make the favorite people pictures to look better in the little frames. The pics look good before i assign then to people, then they get all blurry. i know its something to do with the pixels, but does anyone know what software can make these photos look like good digital photos.
There are two ways to add / change the picture. One is in the contacts program (under all persons), where Windows mobile takes over and resizes your 256x256 picture to an unsharp 200x200. The other one is to use the Menu option under the Contacts tab and then "change picture". In this case the size will remain 256x256 resulting in the sharper pictures.
can you explain the steps to get the pictures sharp than blury.. step by step please.

To get higher quality pics on your TF3D favorite's tab:
1) Go to the "People" Tab of TF3D
2) Select a contact
3) Click Menu (right soft key)
3) Select "change picture" or "add picture"
4) Select the contact pic that you would like to use.
5) You now have a non blurry display pic.
The key is to add the pictures through TF3D and not through Pocket Outlook.

appreciate the info, how ever I might already have pre-existing pictures sync'd with my outlook. so if I add the contact it will be blurry... if I do it the way you recommend then I would have to go through 200 contacts and re-create their photos.
any better ideas or am I stuck with it being blurry?

never mind, i am reading about the 480 x 640 resolution.. sounds like a lot of un-necessary work just to have clairity.

You'll have to do them individually as far as i know, or leave them blurry. I have been doing a few at a time. If it's any consolation I've sync'd my contacts several times using my mail2web server, and the higher res pics have remained. I just used TF3D people tab, i didn't resize anything. Added a few people and changed the pics each time i've flashed. Didn't take me too long to get through my 325 contacts at the rate i flash

Can I delete the images now or do they have to remain? I don't want a folder full of TF3D images if I don't have to.

Okay they seem to remain. . dunno if it'll survive a reboot, but I don't wanna screw with it right now.

If you don't use TF3D, another way to do it is to use the HTC Album. I put all pictures of my friends in a folder and then just went through each image one by one using the 'save to contact' from the menu. It's relatively quick and easy to do.
Side note: One thing I noticed is when I had an image which was exactly 640x480 in size, it didn't sync to Outlook via ActiveSync. It came up with an error message that "The following contacts failed to synchronize from the device". After some fiddling around, it appears that it didn't like the image being 640x480. I reduced the dimensions slightly (e.g. 600x...) and then it worked perfectly. Might come in handy if you get this error...

I am new to the HTC Fuze, about weeks. I have resized the pix to 256 x 256, 640 x 480, 480 x 640 and after the contacts resets the picture is poor quality again. How in gods name do you stabilize this issue. I love the phone but this is pissing me off.
I am no stranger to resizing. I resize in Photoshop...

I'm trying to use the default WM 6.5 today interface, chome is it?
Anyway, some things bug me compared to TF3d and TF3d2, so I'm asking if there are some experts who might be able to help me out?
Is there a way to get the Pictures today plugin to point to a different folder than the location where camera pictures are stored? I've tried using the today chome editor, but can't get anything to take. I have a folder on the root of my storage card call Pictures were I store photos from my desktop. I'd like it to point there.
I find both quick launchers to not be very effective if you have many programs you want to add there. Is there another way other than the start menu to have a quick launcher? I liked the one in TF3D. I find continuely scrolling left or right one program at a time to not be very effecient.
The same goes for Internet favorites as well. A better way other than scrolling left or right to find the one you want?
I'd appreciate any advice. If there isn't a better way then that's ok, I just figured I would ask. Probably just me.

if you like tf3d why dont you run tf3d?
You can always create a folder in the start menu with links to your pie favorites. It's pretty easy to do. I don't use the pic panel, but go here:

See the last value? Maybe if you change it to \Storage Card\Pictures, you'll get what you want. It's just a guess.
Hey guys,
ive searched all over and found only two cabs for the stock album and they both dont work...i install it gets to the end and says the program has insuffient privleges to install.
Does anyone have any suggestions? or know where i get a working cab for the stock album please??
Im running stock 1.43 rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have album running in the background this can prevent a cab from writing over a file being accessed. also install bsb tweaks and allow unsigned apps (not sure what this does but it sounds relevant and can't harm). see if these help. Otherwise i just use resco photo manager anyway
Thanks for suggestions optiknerv ive done the bsb tweak but still the same. I can access the album on the silder but it just comes up blank and doesnt show pictures. It does however show the number of files but no image comes up.

i think you can't install the cab because the album process is running in the background. install a fully featured task manager, kill the album process and then install the cab you want.
anyway do the images show on sense but not in album? can you see anything accessing album direct from start menu? are you viewing the correct folder where your pictures are?
I can view the pictures if i use the start menu and then go to multimedia but they dont show on sense just blank screen with number of images that i have. Would a fully featured task manager be touch x longpress task manager??? sorry still trying to figure out the wonderful world of WM.

not sure if deleting the contents of \Application Data\HTC\HTC Album\ would help forcing album to refresh the cache? this could make it worse though but its nothing a hard reset wouldn't fix if it all goes tits up

Sweet task manager thanks for that bud.
Um yeah the pictures show up in the link labelled album but they dont show up on the sense interface for photos and videos which sucks coz i like the way you could landscape scroll and what not with a flick of a finger.
I killed the process and install album cab but still no go...ill try another cab from earlier on and see how that goes.

taking a look at my process tree i presume album searcher would also have to be killed. but since you can view images in album not sense i wouldn't have thought that album is your problem. try taking a new picture and see if that pops up in sense. would have thought this would also refresh the cache on the rest.

Try deleting that folder contents listed above first. If not then HR or wait until someone with more knowledge than myself gets out of bed lol.
Ok does anyone else find this weird....i have try all the above mentioned methods and even hard reset to factory standard and now when i install one cab file even if its remove top bar or change to cookie tab home screen the same problem comes up. I cant view pics in the sense album using slider and i cant set an alarm i can get into the menu but it just comes up blank.

Trying to find an old (perhaps lost) wallpaper. It was installed on my HTC Desire S with GB 2.3.6 (can't remember carrier, it was used). I have been loading several custom ROMs and have now settled on one, but want to copy my old wallpaper back onto sdcard. I have searched the web for hrs AND also extracted images from several custom ROMs looking for that darn image.
Can anyone help?? It was a simple background with a slight texture to it. The color was a sort of light brown or dark beige. I am rather sure it was in stock gallery or theme(s) when I first used the phone. Was perfect. Not too light or dark with good contrast against icons.
BTW, whenever I load a new background (480x800) from web, the phone crops it and then 'expands' the crop (when applied) causing it to loss resolution (maybe a Go Launcher problem?)

I don't know what the wallpaper is, but the other problem is easy to fix. Simply edit the image beforehand and add a 240x800 space on each side, to give you a 960x800 image.
Some launchers let you select a portrait version of the background, some don't (such as yours it seems).
Found the wallpaper!
Eureka! Found the WP I have been seeking. It is a background that is part of the Hi-Black theme, which is part of Go Launcher EX. now I have extracted it and saved it so I can use it whenever I need it. Note: image attached
Also found out how to fix cropping that Go Launcher was doing to custom WPs. Good, making progress.
