SIM-unlocked vs. Security unlocked

Hi all;
I bought a SIM-unlocked touch pro2 off craigslist a month back, and was planning on flashing a new rom as soon as hard-spl came out. The instructions say I must be security-unlocked to do this, but how do I know? Once I'm SIM-unlocked, am I sec-unlocked as well? I don't want to brick my phone.
First, what carrier is the phone made for?
What carrier you with?
NOOOO Darn you Taurus *jumps onto the Ratcatcher and leaves*

Sorry, you've got the next one.
Sorry, when I filled out the User CP I must not have saved it. I'm with Telus(well, actually Bell but the phone's with Telus).
Can anybody help me out with this? I'm thinking I'm not security unlocked, but I don't know for sure.
Thanks.
Ya gotta be security unlocked bud. 100% sure.
I 'SIM Unlocked' my Verizon (CDMA) TP2 and did HSPL without issue.. maybe it's different for Telus phones? Not sure, but I'm running MightyROM 11/10/09 without issue..
Someone should clear up the difference between the two (security unlocked vs. SIM unlocked).

If the sim was unlocked by the manufacturers code directly from provider or third party it would likely not be security unlocked. If it was unlocked with the program which flashes to sim unlock, the security unlock is part of the process. Checking the bootloader for security status should also be described in the main unlocking threads for the hspl or sim unlock.

How to check if phone is "unlocked"

I have a HTC Touch Diamond that I am trying to sell on Ebay.
Its a asia-pacific set and I realised that if I want to sell it on ebay it should be unlocked so that it can be used with other telcos.
How do I know if my phone is unlocked? Its already running a custom ROM.
Do you have a Sim-Card from another provider?
Than you can insert it in your phone and try to call someone with it!

So what you mean is as long as another carrier's sim card works on it its "unlocked?"
Also how do you check if your device is cdma or gsm?

Unlocking DoCoMo Fujitsu T-01D

Recently got a Fujitsu T-01D, but I didn't realize that it uses a microSIM slot, which means I can't use a hyperSIM to "unlock" it. I've seen on a couple of sites that it has to be sent back to Japan to be unlocked at a DoCoMo shop. I was wondering if there were any other way to unlock it through the software/rooting.

[Q] Unlock nokia lumia 822

I need help to unlock a nokia lumia 822... is said to come from the factory Unlocked for GSM bands.... but I want to buy this on ebay and not unlocked.... is truth that comes factory unlocked or have to buy some code.... I really need to help me figure this out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mSTAiWgcHs
The only unlocked and unbranded Lumia 822 on Ebay is this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nokia-Lumia...1217732102?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a316b2606
all others are Verizon branded and might cause problems with band width depending where you live. The unlock refers only to sim unlock and has nothing to do with unlocking band width which is not possible because that is a hard ware factor.

Unlocked note 8 AT&T but no gsm sim works

Hi everyone
I’m kinda puzzled with this note 8 and need some advice. Recently got a note 8 from AT&T and since I was traveling I had it unlocked to use by a third party company ( since att doesn’t unlock until Device payment is complete)
I got the code, unlocked the phone successfully. Before I left USA I put a working T-Mobile sim to test if connectivity, no luck, it doesn’t work, I tried a Verizon sim, nothing works....
Note... this T-Mobile sim and Verizon sim if I put it on a different device it will work...
any reason why this is happening

The phone is not unlocked. Seems like an error happened when you got the unlock code. I'd try again.
Did you use this device on the att network? I mean, do you have it activated?
If you unlocked it by codes and the message after inserting the code is something like "unlock successfull" then your device must accept other GSM SIM cards.
Also, I would recommend you place a 5 min call with your device, with the att sim card and then insert again the tmob card.
What is the message when you insert the tmobile card in this device?
I did the same thing by using a Tmobile SIM during the unlocking process, and it worked on TMobile right after I unlocked it. It sounded like you did not unlock it using a different network SIM but using some other method. I am not sure if that mattered or not.
I then traveled to Asia, and I bought and used a local SIM card with zero issues. The 4G LTE was faster in that country than AT&T... LOL
