i need some help looking for a GOOD app for locking the phone on standby and ALSO which takes the LEAST amount of MEMORY.
Thank you=]
which device are you using?
if it has a G-sensor.. try one of the apps in the diamond section.. like Gyrator or Gsen..
might work.
You can also ask the user "ageye" to add this option in G-profile..

HI all,
New to this forum.
I got an XDA Orbit 2 and I am trying to investigate its features. Can someone tell me how I can change the Windows mobile screen to make it more user friendly such as showing waether, missed calls etc.
I found some apps on this forum but I did not know whether I could install them on my mobile.
Possible I want apps which do not change the bootloader.
It already has touchflo installed.
Thx
with touuchflo installed you should have weather features installed.
however, if you would like to change touch flo design, you can install applications like HHC(htc home customizer) and probably Touch Settings.
You will find this apps using search feature of this forum
HI,
The today screen is like a normal windows mobile screen. So I was thinking of changing it to something more nice.
In order to open touchflo I need to slide my finger up, so basically the today screen does not show all the things in one place.
The most important thing is that anything that I install should be uninstalled easily so if it does not work I can uninstall it wo problems.
Thanks
plug-ins for Orbit 2
Hi Newera,
Not everyone will understand what you require because the touch cruise comes with the HTC home plug-in as standard and they don't realise that O2 have their own version of the 'today' screen.
I have an Orbit 2 from 02 and I have a nice working setup.
The version of the HTC Home plugin you want and which I know works with the Orbit2 is:
HTC.Kaiser.Home.Eng.0409.6Tab.Schen
Other versions of the plugin will not have a working brightness tab and the weather may not be able to download and other shortfalls but I can guarantee this one works on the Orbit 2. Just search the forums for this file and you should find a link to it.
Should you have problems finding it, send me a pm and I'll mail it to you.
Once you have the cab file you put it on your storage card and install it from there and soft reset your Xda. You can then set your tabs as you like them and adjust what appears on what remains of your today screen to your liking.
I also highly, highly recommend downloading slide to unlock:
S2U2-1.05-WM5
It's a fantastic programme and much better than the standard lock feature on the Orbit 2.
There's also a much better HTC calculator interface:
touch_calculator
Do a search and you should find them on here easily. Again, if you have problems, just let me know.

RLToday? Thats what I use. Requires some work but can produce some good results.

hey, i like touchflo,, i guess. probably cuz im a little too nervous and inexperienced to start seriously messing around with my phone, but i do hate how the calender on touchflo works. I cant see specific says without clicking on them, and the whole thing just seems a little elementary.
is there anything you can suggest that will work with touch flo, and required just a simply installation, because im not quite sure what most of the tech abbreviations mean, and how to manually configure settings.
So from your experience, what is the most intuitive program.
would it also be too much to ask to see some screenshots of the programs.
thanks a lot....consider it my christmas present
just a side note,
if you have a program on the phone, and then update the framework, must you reinstall the initial program...the reason i ask is , i have a program to prevent the screen from being responsive when i call came in, but after a few updates, ie. framework and advance config, the screen blocker program isnt working
any suggestion?
i believe there is already a post about this and to the best of my knowledge the answer to your second question is no
SBSH Touch Calendar looks awesome. I haven't tried it yet as it costs $25 but I'm thinking about buying it. Give it a shot and post up here!

Also there is a 12-day trial.

hey, sorry for the repost, but ive been searching, and really havent been able to find what im looking for. It may just be that i dont know if the mentioned programs im looking for are compatible with the touch pro. Im not looking to mod my task bar, or anything concerning manilla files. Just a program that allows me to see into the future a little better. is this spd diary program compatible with touch pro and free?
thanks for putting up with me
Try thumbcal, i's great. Version 0,5 is free after that it gets a little better but it's not free anymore, 12
Have a look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381588
This solved my problem - if this is installed, you switch the screen off, then on again - all appointments as well as current date/time is displayed.
Ive used Thumbcal and only just installed the SBSH touch cal, have to admit looks and operates great. So much more features and ability to manage apts etc. First impressions i think its alot more comprehensive then Thumbcal, but just my opinion.
Ok forgive me for actually posting a new thread. I am about to give up on the fuze and thought I would try to ask a few questions first.
Background: I was an early adopter of winmo phones (had a Wallaby, Alpine, Hermes, gave up on a kaiser and went finally to a Nokia n95 until my current trials with the iphone and the fuze) Frankly, before I was the mom of three kids I could manage to keep up with the technology, but now it all might be more than I can handle. You tell me if these are stupid questions I should know the answer to already.
I tried the iphone for 30 days, loved the out of the box ease of use but couldn't believe there was no voice dialing, cut and paste, video, etc. Now I am trying the fuze.
I managed to load up energy rom 3.0 the first day I got it, so that is what I am running. It is beautiful.
Problems:
-lower screen flicker (looked it up, changing to less than optimal brightness does not stop this from happening intermittently)
-youtube wont run (says there is not enough storage space to run - req 8mb - but I have more than 12 free)
-Even though I have it set not to delete my email off the server, it does. Then each time it connects it deletes ALL my mail off the phone. This appears to be a new problem, but a big one.
-browsing is clunky with IE and opera. Can I run safari on this thing because it worked great on the iphone - much more smooth and quick on the att network (sorry, true).
-finally found a storage card that the phone could actually see. Now I am wondering if there is an easy way to move all sorts of files over to the card. Are all files safe to move to the card? Can I move programs? Can I move my more than 300 contacts over there?
-google maps finds me in budapest more often than Austin TX (where I really am) what gives with that?
- I do miss that nice big screen on the iphone. So when is the fuze 2 really going to get here? Anyone think it is worth waiting for? This fuze is costing me a 2 year contract and I could wait...
Thank you in advance! I have spent hours in this forum trying to find answers to my questions. Now I am just asking and I hope I won't be flamed out of existence.

I don't think I can answer all your questions but I'll have a go

I read that pulling out the battery for a little while and letting the phone rest helped this. I haven't tried and it doesn't bother me enough to want to. I don't think there's a solution though...

I haven't installed the youtube app to test yet but do you really only have 12mb free? the phone has over 300mb of storage, at least on some ROMs.

Which e-mail do you use? I haven't had any problems like this using gmail. It's possible you need to look in your e-mail settings online to see if they are set to keep e-mails on the server as well. If you're using POP mail that's a possibility. I use IMAP on gmail which functions very well, even marking e-mails you read on the phone as read online.

You can try www.skyfire.com or Iris http://www.torchmobile.com/download/download2.php
Skyfire works great for me, I haven't tried Iris yet but it uses Webkit which is what the iPhone's Safari browser uses

You can install programs to the storage card, but I don't recommend moving them manually. The registry still thinks the programs are on the phone storage. Other files such as music or pictures should be fine though. You can set your camera to take pictures to the card as well. I don't think you can store your contacts on the memory card, why would you need to? Contacts are nothing more than text, surely they aren't taking up much memory at all.

That's an interesting problem. It sounds like the GPS doesn't have a full lock, are you outside when doing this? Try running a program like QuickGPS to help the phone get a lock.

The Touch Pro 2 is supposed to be out later this year on AT&T. Apparently it's out right now but that's the HTC branded version and it's almost $1000. It's a 3.6" screen at 480x800 resolution, that sounds pretty good compared to the iPhone to me. Running WM means it'll still be a resistive touch screen which means it will never be as fluid to use as the iPhone's is. Still, with an interface like TF3D or SPB Mobile Shell 3 you can enjoy swiping your finger just as much.
Hope I was helpful on some points
I suggest trying different ROMs. Not that there is anything wrong with the one you are using but each one suits different users differently. I am a fairly new user to winmo (about 6 months) and one thing that surprized me the most is how much research and time it takes to get the device working to my satisfaction. I love the fuze, I like to tinker and tweak things.

Man, if you are having problem with EMAIL
just go to GMAIL
i cant believe the time i waste at hotmail....
I have the PRO and dont found a way to keep the emails at server, then, just go to GMAIL, configure to that (keep in server), and CONFIGURE: to gmail get the emails from HOTMAIL. Well, im so happy when i saw that option!
Now im much more happy with my htc touch pro as email stuffs

Install the attached cab to fix this (named after jmckeejr, the person who found the fix. I'm just the "cab man", lol)

I'm using Opera Build 16643, and my browsing experience is very smooth. Perhaps you haven't found the right version of Opera?

Don't know about this one. Perhaps try installing the attached cab I made for myself, and it may help? (this enables aGPS, if it isn't already, so if you don't have a data plan, you'll need to go into Settings & disable it)

We don't flame people who provide details about their problems/concerns, who search first, and who aren't militant about getting a response.
I hope something I provided helps.
In regards to the GPS problem with your location, tap the clock on the homescreen and make sure it has your timezone selected as your "Home City". Google Maps uses this as a default location just to speed up GPS fix time.
If the setting is correct, go to Start -> Settings -> Clocks and Alarms and make sure your city is selected there too, since this is a somewhat known bug in the newer version of TouchFlo3d v2 (sometimes called TF3D2, extracted from the HTC Topaz and Rhodium).
For your browsing experience, check out the new version of Opera Mobile 9.7 -- turn on Turbo Mode and it's SO FAST! I'm loving it, even my friends with iPhones are jealous
I hope this helps you somehow
I got the sprint tp2 with the stock ROM and i cant seem to figure out how to keep the apps running like activesync...
I was looking at the registry but did not see anything...
Please help me....
Are they closing when you tap the X or do they just close on their own while running in the background?
Well Active Sync was not updating as mail arrives like I had it set and It looked like WM was closing the program... It seems like am not the only one having that problem... Thank you for replying to my post..
Well, winmo will close apps when it needs to for memory purposes. It does this to keep you from bogging down. But, the TP2 has enough ram that this should not be happening unless you are doing a lot at once.
I tend to leave about 4 apps open all the time updating and then add my normal use on top of that. I rarely have things closeon their own - but when I do it tends to be when I am using a memory hog browser like opera or skyfire.
hey guys not sure if any of you are experiencing the same problem with advanced task killer
but as the title describes, every time i open advanced task killer the same apps that i killed previously is on the list again showing that its in use...is that just the way it is or is there a way to shut those apps off for good?
and then on top of that, every time i kill the same apps the amount of available memory shows a diff #.
any input is much appreciated.
I think the closest thing you can use for now would be the auto kill feature lol but that's not an amazing option either! As for memory I've experienced it an all and perhaps someone can explain to us both! I'd really like to know..

Hi - I think that the processes that you're referring to in ATK are kindred of those found in the Windows OS and the like - they are processes that need to be running for the phone to function.
I too noticed the vast difference in the available memory fresh after each kill - I've pegged it down to the old rule of thumb, smart phones need to be rebooted every 48 hours or so - just like a computer, rebooting is the best way to free up RAM (or in this case, sweet sweet x10 memory).
Personally I reserve ATK for when I exit an app that doesn't in fact have an "Exit" option in it's in-app menu; just to be sure that the process has been killed.
Hope that eases the brain strain
ive started to use fastreboot.. reboots the phone without having to switch it off.. does it instantly and helps free up ram!
This does not really resolve the issue does it. I need to restrict programs to start on reboot, thats all I need. I know there are applications are causing the battery drain.
Im left with this stupid device now.. really want to move away now.

Re: Advanced task killer diff...
Well there aint much that can be done about that. Just gotta hope someone manages to root the phone and then you can delete those programz you don't like!
