Best homebrew games for Pocket PC? - General Questions and Answers

There are a bunch of homebrew games listed here. I was wondering which are the best? They can either be native PPC (2002) applications or something run inside an emulator. My tastes lean more towards RPGs and strategy games, especially games like Shining Force or Fire Emblem. Turn-based wargames are also OK.
Thanks!

Im having difficulty in finding games for this phone.
The only ones ive got which are worth playing are Poker and 10 pin Bowling from the microsoft website.
I keep finding flash games but they want a keypad.
What games are worth looking for? I know there is an Age of Empires game...
Hey,
heard about scummvm?
It's a lil Virtual Machine for old Games like Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones.
Scummvm is designed for point-and-click adventures.
There is a PocketPC Version also.
look here:
http://www.scummvm.org/
I love it, but most games are hard to handle, so you have to try a lil bit
Have fun...

Inspired by your thread i tried to search for age of empires
I found this Site http://www.filaomobile.com/
It is linked from a german site which says AOE Gold 1.25 is free downloadable for PocketPC. But it's not possible for me, to open that site, cause i'm at work and Webpages in Category "Games" are blocked
You could give a try, maybe you'll find aoe on that site.
MS are giving away Texas Hold em for free again.

turn-based strategy games?

Are there any good turn-based strategy games out there on Android? I came across the old Military Madness game and had some nostalgic fun which got me to wondering. Or any oldies I can play on emulators?
I'd also like to play some of the old LucasArts/Sierra adventure games but I think I read the ScummVM doesn't work on newer versions of Android is that correct?
gbcoid and gameboid are the best gameboy emulators. If you don't want to pay for an emulator that lets you save, I use GVBA for my gameboy rpg needs...
i have gameboid and i usually look for turn based rpgs, some examples i got are pokemon, final fantasy, fire emblem, golden sun, riviera - the promised land
www.conquerclub.com
It's obviously not an app, but it's the best turn-based strategy game out there and you can use it on your phone via the browser.
Thanks I'll check it out. Been trying to install some SNES strategy roms and when I get them to download and/or work, half the time it's in Japanese which doesn't make it too easy to play, lol.
You might want to check out UniWar. I tried it on my old iphone, and they ported it over to Android. I'm not sure how large the online population is anymore though.
Advance War 1 and 2 are the best

those are for the gameboy advance so you'll need an advance emulator

Emulators for WM6 smartphone (non-touchscreen)

The Wiki is down, or I'd look there...
I have a WM6.5 smartphone (non-touchscreen).
I no nothing of emulators, just that they exist for old game systems (like NES and SNES) and that current smartphones are plenty strong to run them.
What I want: some kind of SNES emulator and a way to play my old Mario games on my Samsung Jack (WM6.5 standard). I'd love, love, LOVE to get Super Mario 3 going. I played that for many hours as a kid, and I'd love to get it back.
What do I need to know to get an emulator for my phone?
Where can one find the games to load on my memory card?
Anyone?
Anything?
For SNES emulation I recommend PocketSNES. Good performance + possibility to rotate screen. Get it from http://n0p.tonych.info/?PocketSNES
For NES - use PocketNester if you don't want rotation, use PocketNesterPlus if you want it (warning - without rotation it crashes ). Google the first, get the second from Modaco (version by Masterall)
For Sega MegaDrive - get PicoDrive. Many versions on the net, there might be one for a smartphone.
I don't know if these emulators work on smartphone edition as I only have a touchscreen device. But I think you should try, if they work, they will provide you with hours of gameplay.
MorphGear is your best option. Works very nicely.

It is paid though. What I posted is free. But if you want to spend money I think SmartGear is better (more systems and better performance for less cash).
Moved as not software release.

[POLL]Who uses game system emulators on their phone?

I am only using Johns gbc emulator. Any other good ones out there?

I use GameBoid (GBA) and FPse (PS1) emulators. GameBoid is not on the market anyone (no clue why) but I still like it the best. FPse is $4USD. When you use these, you need to get a hold of the BIOS files (obviously) and the actual game files. Anyone know of any good sites to get roms for either PS1 or GBA? Thanks.
Only time I used an emulator was when I jailbroke my iPhone for the very first time back in 2008. It was great for about a month, but I noticed that my phone was running slower and not performing as good as it used to.
Haven't had an emulator ever since.
I'm using SuperGNES on my skyrocket. All the game ROMs i found have played flawlessly. The only thing is getting the controls layed out so that my mitts actually hit the correct buttons lol

Try CoolRom.com They had a ton of ROMS for games I thought I would have no chance in hell in finding.
Thanks for the replies guys

I use GBCoid (Gameboy/Gameboy Color), turn based RPGs like Pokemon work rather well with it. Anything more complex becomes an exercise in frustration though, so I dont bother with other genres.
only gameboid and fpse tried n64 one way too many buttons
I use vNESlight and Blue Tomato (Sega emulator) on my WP7 device...
I use anDosBox to play old DOS games on my Android phone.
I use gameboid for gameboy advance games and FPse for playstation 1 games.
I tried the NES Emulator
For PS1 games I use Xperia Play, umad? jk. I'd like to use mupen64plus Xperia Play version but I can't afford it from my country so I count on N64oid for N64 games. For GameBoy, Gameboid. If you don't have the Xperia Play you can use FPSe.

I use Droidemulite and you can actually use different system roms on it. I have my wiimote connected to it and its really good. I play it on my HP touch pad so I have a nice big screen to play on. Oh the emulator app is free by the way.
I can (and do) play almost every game on my HTC Vision.
Only games I can't faithfully recreate is 2D fighters
snes........
SuperGNES Lite
my Nokia n9 has an emulator that has nes, snes, gba, psx, amiga, and pico all in one. Its the best mobile emulator I've ever seen.
Gameboid to play RPGs like Mother 3 which is free in the SlideME Market http://slideme.org/application/gameboid
FPSE for some random gaming here and there. Playing Monster Rancher Card Battle II currently
$3.99 in Android Market https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emulator.fpse&hl=en
MAME4droid Reloaded (0.139) to play random arcade games
Free in Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zZWxldWNvLm1hbWU0ZHJvaWQiXQ..
I love playing pokemon red on my Evo 3D. Sometimes I wish I had a keyboard so I could play faster-paced games.. Sometimes you lose where the joypad is on a touchscreen.
I tried out a few emulators back when I was using my Milestone.
I had Gameboid and the other *oid ones for nes and snes I think.
I used them with a wiimote for that authentic dpad and buttons feeling even though my phone had a keyboard.
It was a little bit awkward though, with the controller and the phone not being physically connected. It made me nervous balancing my phone on my knee while holding the wiimote with both hands, so I ended up going back to my DS and PSP for most of those kind of games and only playing actual android games on my phone.

Any Decent Looking Solitare Games Out There?

I like most people my age grew up on solitaire, that and minesweeper were the only games we had back in our day... two miles in the snow, both ways uphill and all that jazz. Either way, most of the solitaire apps I've seen on Android look just about as bad as they did on Windows. In fact, the Windows version looks even better! All these Android card apps look like SHlT! I can get high def shooters and race games, but not a decent looking solitaire game? Anyone recommend any slick looking apps?
I use Solitaire deluxe. iirc i got it as Amazon's free app of the day a while back, but i believe they have a free version. It is ok and has a lot of games including a few of the classics. Many games can be configured with different options to make them easier or more difficult to beat.
