I think I've killed my o2 mini!! Pls help this poor fool!

OK. The story goes like this....
I recently (about 4 months ago) bought and xda II mini. Love the phone, works(ed) brilliantly. Previously owned and loved an xda II and the mini has not disappointed.
So the phone’s working fine, and I’m bored one day and am cruising through the o2 website. I see there’s a ROM upgrade for the mini (1.11.00 WWE). I download and run the software which works a treat. All was just fine for about 3 days…until last night.
After using it for a voice call I press the power button to put it into sleep mode. The phone freezes. Not thinking this is overly strange I do a soft reset. Not suspecting that all is not well I put the phone down. After about 10 mins, I notice the backlight has gone off but it hasn’t gone to sleep. Strange. I touch the screen. Frozen. A couple more soft resets later I realise that once the backlight goes off OR I press the power button, the phone freezes. So I do a hard reset. Same thing. Uh oh.
I decide to run the ROM upgrade software again hoping this will rectify the problem. It gets worse. There’s no ExtROM on the phone. Now I’m at a loss. What’s gone wrong? What did I do? Why isn’t the ExtROM being installed?
Can anyone please help me install a clean 2003SE WWE for an o2 mini on Optus in Australia, or am I up the proverbial? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I’m not keen on sending it to Queensland for repairs.

IMATE JAM is DEAD, does not boot....
I also have a similar problem, the story goes like -
My IMATE JAM was going perfectly fine, it also had the latest WWE ROM, no issues. Now for some reason, I download from www.pocketgear.com and install the trial version of "Pocket Mechanic" which also installs "Pocket Hack Master 2005". While trying out Pocket Mechanic, I use something called "registry cleaner" which is supposed to cleanup any incorrect/unused registry entries. After this I try "Pocket Hack Master 2005" which is a software to test the CPU speeds. As soon as I run this program, the screen freezes and my phone is dead. I try and reboot the device, but it is stuck at the blue boot-up screen. I am unsure whether my PPC died because of registry cleanup or because of "Pocket Hack Master 2005" software.
Anyways, now, I decide to re-install the WWE 1.12 ROM and start using the device. But, no luck, on the PPC - the blue boot-up screen does not go away and on the installer screen - "Checking information on your device... Please wait...." and is stuck.
I think the device is not booting up and hence is being not recognised by the PC as a USB device.
Please help... I am dead...!!!!

Well, in case anyone's interested. It appears the phone is back to normal. I trawled and trawled through this site and picked up tidbits of information on how to upgrade a ROM. I downloaded 1.12 and tried installing that which worked as badly as everything else I tried.
I decided to install the Asia shipped ROM (1.11), the instigator of all this mess, but via NemesisDE's method on page 4 of the sticky, instead of running the .exe file as per usual. For some reason, it appears to have taken it!!!
Yes, I'm excited. Even though no-one responded to my post, I got the info I needed from this site. Thanks so much to everyone who contributes here. You'd be surprised how some seemingly ridiculous things, help novices like me.

htc Touch Cruise / Polaris / 3650.

Hello all,
A simple question.
How can one tell what kind of a unit he has, is it WWE or is it ASIA or maybe another, I have bought my unit 2nd hand and since then had problems with the softwares and radio roms.
I have used WWE rom, and I just can not get all my contacts in, I have used ASIA and for a few days all was working fine, till something happens I reset the unit and either data is lost or the radio has no signal etc.
Another question, is it possible to stop the Automatic Customization after a hard reset???
Your help would be much appreciated.

WWE or Asia depends on installed ROM. Type can be Polaris 100 or Polaris 200, AFAIK, and is visible during hard reset.
What ROM are you using now? Looks like trouble with ROM or bad device.

For the moment I am using a cooked rom Khanx 1.6 Pro.
I was really fed up with the Original Rom as I said it was fine for a few days, working smoothly, even backups by SPB were fine, and suddenly one day the unit froze and I had to reset after the rest nothing worked, all data lost.
Even after Hardreseting I was having problems with 'VDDemon' each time, only after re-installing the rom for a few times I was able to go back to working with it.
I mainly use the unit for telephone (ofcourse), mail, notes and sms.
By the way when I enter bootloader, I can see POLA100 MFG, and the SPL-2.20.Olinex, CPLD-2.
And what I meant about the Automatic ..., when you hard reset the unit you get a windows saying that in 3 seconds and automatic instal is beginning, how can one stop this instal????????
So really I am not even having fun with it at all.

Could you try device for few days with "bare" ROM, meaning no other software installed? Maybe it's software incompatibility.
For stoping customization check thread I mentioned, think it's described there. But I might be wrong, it could be some another thread. In any case, I remember reading about it here and a way how it can be stopped.
My Polaris is stable as stable Windows device can be...

Help! Problem with windows mobile 6.5

I am repeatedly facing the following problem.
When a call arrives, the contact pops up on the screen almost immediately, but it takes around 5 or 6 rings from the callers end for me to hear the ring on my phone.
Eg. You call me and i will see your name on my screen but it will seem for you as if i picked your call only after 6 rings, but only then my phone rings!! HELP me a lot of people are complaining that i am not picking the call immediately due to this...
Never faced this problem in wm 6.1 or earlier versions.
Somebody kindly assist me

I had the same problem. I think it happened when the screen was locked.
It got better after upgrading to a 23001 build.
Which build do you have on your phone?

And yes u r right i think it happens when screen is locked. Even otherwise i think it happens.

Weird... I use the same ROM and this is the FIRST ROM where I don't have this problem.
(I tried many 6.5 ROMs before and with all of them I had this Problem)

Hey it aint fair, nobody answers my question anywhere (( If only anyone can answer this.

Maybe it's becoz you are running some software that is not compatible with WM65. Like some builds of MS Voice Command. But you have to sort it out by yourself.
Edit: The way to find problem apps for your ROM:
Backup all your data;
Hard reset;
Install your apps one by one;
Every time after installed a new soft, soft reset, and check the problem occurs or not, if not, install next one, soft reset and check again, until you got the problem occured again.
Then you know it's the last installed app crashes with something. (Maybe not crash with the ROM, but other apps installed before it. To sort this out, you have to change the sequence of cab install and test again. For example, after already know the probs app, hard reset and only install this see what happen.)
What if you did not find it until installed last app? Congratulations, you already solved the problem.
This is the most foolish(time consuming) way, but it works on most cases for probs sorting.
Edit2: BTW, last time when I have similiar probs as yours, by using above-mentioned method, I sorted it out that it was caused by MSVC. (Edit3: Also if my memory is still correct, another badass for WM6.5 maybe the WM6.5 lockscreen,)

What radio are you using? Did you change radios and see if that makes a difference?

No Sound

Hi, I've got an Imate Jamin (win 6.1) that was working fine till a couple of days ago. It would freeze once in a while when I sent out balance check SMS but it was ok otherwise. Now thought, the call alert sounds are gone, it only vibrates. Windows Media player runs the files but I get no sound at all. The voice clarity during call is good, its as per usual but I can't even get screen tap sounds out of it otherwise.
Anyone else with the same problem? And can anyone help me out? I thought maybe it was all the soft resets from after the freezes that corrupted the windows or something like that but flashing the PDA with another ROM hasn't helped.

And back to to original rom doesn't solve it? I had the same thing with my magician and solved it by flash back to the original rom.

I googled the problem and found out it was a common problem with their model, its the hardware messing up. My set was under warranty so I had it fixed. Now I got other problems...

I have using HTC S710 for almost 3 years now. It has been a very good phone and i just love it.
I have recently started facing a problem where when i open my QWERTY keyboard screen goes blank and shows a bright light.
all other things functions well. like if m playing songs it will continue or if i wish to dial some1 i can.
Can some1 suggest me how to fix this.

You can restore the factory settings or reflash the rom. If the problem persists, the cable or screen of the phone may be broken.

I have already done the reset available in phone.
i have also tried updating and putting new ROM but everytime i do that i get errors like " Image currupted" or " Invalid vendor ID" I have even tried unlocking the phone using USPL n stuffs but no use. (Probably m not doing it rite )
The problem with phone is when openin the QWERTY keypad the display goes blank or hazzy n returns after some 30 seconds(Display time our time)
Dont know wat to do
and now the green flashy led is also not working
whenever i connect my phone to PC it shows RED light there
dont know wats happening

Most probably the flex cable that connects the upper and lower body has a problem. Probably the connector at the lower part has come loose slightly and opening the device pulls the flat cable edge to bend the connector so that you see the effect you describe.
You will not be able to fix it without opening the device - and this is not simple with the VOX. Do not try to fix that without opening the device as you may completely kill the flat cable this way.

You will not solve a HW problem with new SW. Get a good dis-assembly guide for the VOX - this will help you.

As off now i have just completed updating a new ROM (Windows Mobile 6.5 Official by frauhottelmann) It is nice and good but as u suggested hasnt resolved my problem

Be careful nitin !!! you'd better bring it to a service center , than you lose warranty just because seal is broken when you try to open it ..

There is no warranty after 3 years, I think - at least not in Germany
