What exactly are you looking for ? Some chef to tell the wife and kids he will be in his office for the next couple of days cooking you your own personal rom?
And what are you offering him/her for this personal rom and days/month of his hard work ?
Grab an existing rom with a M2D Diamond theme and go down the list of apps you want and pick a rom that has most of these apps and load the rest yourself.
Or of course the best way to get exactly what you want, is here and here

No offense but , seems like your asking a lot for nothing in return.

Is it possible to use the Polaris Rom or it's OEM's to Cook something for myself? How do I extract the OEM's out of a existing ROM?
Or is there a library with OEM's available, maybe it's we all can create a OEM library.

Check the Kaiser wiki, it is all there. Kitchens. tutorials, OEM packages. The links I gave you will lead you to everything you need.
Have fun and we will be expecting a new rom to test

You can't just use another device's rom/sys etc...and you have to be careful in how you do this.
I do some customization for people in my roms but I seriously don't see anything all that extraordinary about this rom. The build isn't current and you can pretty much get that look by skinning any recent rom with the skin from that rom...which is available in his second post as was already pointed out.
so I guess what I am saying is that there are chef's like Kareem that use their builds to give you the look and apps you want but no chef is going to use that rom as a base for kaiser or even bother to port it because we are all working on newer stuff. Som of us are happy to entertain requests for additional apps or removal of certain things but really other than Kareem, none of us is going to build a custom rom for one person.
You need to read everything you can on cooking and ask questions. I did dump that rom to see what is in it. Most of that rom, you can find inside just about any rom the the current chef's are cooking.

Unless you want to brick your kaiser then never ever take another devices files(SYS, OEM, etc.) and copy them straight over to kaiser kitchen. Go through the kitchen tutorial at the wiki if you haven't already.

I have it running right now and there is no extra's, secuity is enabled and cannot change any system reg files. That kind of tells me it is the original one not touched.

well i also thought the same but if you see, you will find that across the forum the OS and the build quoted for the ingenetics rom is Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
that doesnt match the OS and the build for this one OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.0.0.0. I am confused as to where is that original rom that ingenetics sumitted here ?????
You might want to go to the Howard forum and look for InGeNeTiCs and ask him or you might want to PM mfrazzz also as he was the person that was in contact with InGeNeTiCs
Try this one:
http://www.savageground.com/downloads/mfrazzz/15342.zip
I just uploaded this. I think this is the original one that I (and others) started with.
And just for the record, I never was in contact with Ingenetics. I actually only started working with the rom to prove it was no different than the first Faria Vanilla. Then I found it it was very different and took off with it as it worked so well (for me and many others).
BTW: If this is the original (as I believe it is), it will have the "phone home" code and the check for the specific device it was made for (ie: you'll have to remove that stuff). I'd have to go back and look for notes I made to remember what all was done and where...
Thanks, it is differant, it was made for an I-Mate K-Jam
Ingenetics
Would the original rom dump (rom-HTCLogo.nba, rom-OS.nba, rom-Radio.nba, rom-Splash.nba, ROM-ExtROM, boot.rgu) be of any use to you? I will upload it if you need it.

Dear,
I think this may not be the one. The reason being that after I flash, it shows your splash and the speedometre! So this is one that you have cooked. This also shows OS 5.2.318 and build 15342.0.0.0 but what I have read at numerous places is that the build for the original was 15342.4.0.01. But thanks for doing this for me if you have the real one, it will be a great favour.

Alber
I would like that. Thanks

Hi, are you the Ingenetics?? I saw this name here. Well yes please. Is this the real dump that Ingenetics provided to XDA-Developers? I need it in that case. I would then also have to see how to put this together to flash it or at least get the .nbf file.
Please let me know. thanks a lot for the help

Sorry, about that. Yep, that looks like that was one of the first builds based off of Ingenetics that I did. I'm looking on my hard drive, but right now I still haven't been able to find the original version (I may have cleaned it off when I was trying to recover space. But may be in some backups I have).
@theloon - Please post the original stuff that you have
I had been curious about this for a while as well....
So far, the closest to the original i found was mfrazzz and mezozoy's versions that were posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310833&highlight=ingenetics
but i think those are the ones that were just listed... never been able to find the original after a lot of searching...
it seemed like a good idea to start from the original just to have a completely clean ms base that I could screw up since i have no idea what im doing, but the edited versions that are just about vanilla have the things taken out that I would try to take out anyways....
what has been hard for me to understand: granted many of the other builds came from different devices and so some compatibility issues would have to be fixed. but if the original InGeNeTiCs was a dogfood rom, how are there all of these fixes to get many of the basic functions working correctly? its just strange that it would need to be fixed to just work correctly (not customized)
Ingenetics rom
i think thats been touched aswell because ive been using it for a couple of months an the camera is not orginal neither the Comm manager...i would love to have all original... juss to say i have WM6 on my phone Mfrazz if you have it you can PM me with it plz
thanks!
Mfrazzz, could you pm me also with it.
I might have a copy of it! I have a folder on my computer I named InGenetics Org ROM. This is from a while back. I kind of remember that the InGenetics Rom was only going to be available for a few days and I think I downloaded it.
What I have is is a Nk NBF file that is 58,369 KB. I also have it as a Winrar at 42,347 KB.
If this sounds like it might be it how can I post (make it available).
Let me know
Also theloon says he located the original 318, which is in his most recent kitchen. see post #288

Hi, can you give me these please

Just WM6 itself.

Has anyone made WM6 as itself, i.e. no other stuff added for MDA Vario I?
Or the next closest but limited software?
Thanks,
I can recommend doing a forum search for tnt 1487 ( or is it 1437) touchflo.... within the posting is a link for the barebones wm6. also, if u pm me, I can direct you to the rom im using, which is very slick. it is a custom variant that was done by a friend of mine. im on my wizard now, so I will post the direct links later if u can't find it.

Not a big deal !
In that case there are many links available in threads all over the xda-forum,I just gave you the hint to search & seek,if you had gone through the threads where all the Roms are posted you cud have found many links, almost all the kitchens provided by the cooks have plain (vanilla) base rom in them, or you can port the plain Base Rom from any Stock Rom,I doubt,if you'll be able to get a Original Microsoft Wm6 release anywhere, whatever you'll get will be either ported or custom build vanilla Rom,just for reference I'm posting here one link to the kitchen by Faria,

Kitchen Making - Base roms

When I want to make my own ROM are all the base rom that people start from the same just different build numbers or are ther different versions? I want to try and make my own ROM, I found "double_ofour" page and think I will start there, my main question is do we all use the same base rom?
Thanks

Why didn't you put this post in double_ofour's thread ?
If we all used same base rom, don't you think our Build would be the same ? The answer is no.
Where can Ifind other base roms I tryed searching, but all i find is ones people have added all there own stuff in.
How do I know the differance between roms other than build numbers an versions?
When you cook your own ROM, you need to put in what you want and take out what you don't. You can try looking for a "Vanilla" ROM which has very few things added into it, but pretty much once you have learned enough to be able to cook your own ROMs you should have enough knowledge to remove the other stuff people added in.
Build numbers and versions are specific to the core operating system itself. The person who made the ROM may or may not have changed the version number you see on the top left of the splash screen when you power on the phone from having been completely off.
Thank you very much that is helpfull.
Pick the ROM you like from this forum, dump the ROM and add your own OEM packages...(can use hypercore for this)

How to: Become a cook

Everyday i'm looking thru this forum trying to figure out how to cook roms.
I'm sure there are others out there trying to do the same. All im finding are kitchens and easybakeovens.
I really need help trying to become a cook like ttran itje ivan etc. or even better.
I made this thread to put all the links and all the programs needed to do this in on place.
If your willing to help herald please contribute we need more COOKS!!
Just to have more varieties of roms thanks
I have looked and haven't found much... and what I have found is very vague if that.
On top of that when I try to take a part someone elses rom's I always get errors and such.
Be nice if we got help.
What the hell doews IVAN released his Easy bake oven!!! Please do not use it for cooking! It MIGHT work!
hahahaha. lol sorry. But that would be the first way tos tart. clean rom ... kitchen... an dall OEm packs needed.....
good luck
Ivan's Easy Bake Oven is great.... if you can get it to work properly... of course it is called easy bake oven so its user friendly but I want something more advanced... you try to tell me you use that to build all your rom's?
Until he comes out with his new oven I am stuck using the redclean boot screen and all the apps he has in the sys folder because no one tells you what to do and what not to do.

VisualROmstudio... but i guess it is still in process....
hypercore is really messed up on vista, visual rom studio won't let me edit the OS, bepe is confusing as all heck, looking at ppckitchen now.
Thanks for the list. There is also a new HTC Rom image editor in the development forum but its beta and I get errors with it too LOL

Hmm.. that one looks extremely complicated. I know how to extract the dump with imgfs but not sure what to do after that... everyone says use bepe's kitchen but... that doesn't help since his kitchen doesn't really have instructions on what to do. I have tried to merge the JustClean rom from the easybakeoven with other roms and still no luck.
I have even tried the package tool... and it doesn't create any packages so not sure what the point is.
It would be nice if someone could respond with info that would help us in some way.
I have found the issue with creating packages... its with ASerg's recent ROM
The other ROM I liked and wanted to merge (Touch IT 7.0) works great now except for some missing files... the RGU files seem to be missing for half the stuff but the ROM is not yet complete so I understand.
I have asked ASerg and a couple others for OEM and SYS folders with no luck so I guess I am out.
OK. I'm working on a port of PPCkitchen for these ROMs. If you want, I'll post a step by step on how to cook from scratch, all the way to creating packages, etc. I also created an unreleased EasyPortKitchen so that you can port things. But truly, the best to learn is the way we all learned, trial and error. While trying to do one thing, you learn 20. Mind you... I have VERY limited time... And Just2Clean is almost done.

WOW... you do alot IVAN.
And you are completely correct every time you learn how to do one thing right... you also learn how to do that same thing wrong.
I think it would be nice to have at least some help... I finally figured out some of the issues but still since there is no documentation to any of the tools its hard to "seek help" Its not like a car or computer where you have an instruction manual and you just choose not to use it.

[KITCHEN] Basic ROM kitchen for aspiring Magic cooks [PC/MAC]

Hi guys,
Over at the HTC Hero forum I have been developing a kitchen to help ordinary people learn how to build their own ROM. It allows you to do basic things such as rooting a shipped ROM, adding apps2sd, modifying the task killer memory threshold, etc.
The appropriate settings are now in place to make it work for the Magic.
Here is the link to the kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Before you flash your new custom ROM made from this kitchen, please make a Nandroid backup first of your existing ROM!
Thank you, and enjoy!
Just a question - is there a Wiki page which lists all the shipped ROMs available for the Magic? I couldn't find any on my own. I only found the ones at the htc.com site.
...
Hi man, i just want to thank you for your kitchen, i dont know a answer to your question
but i want to reserve this post,
my plan is to make a short instruction on how to port a rom from hero, using your kitchen... (hope its ok with you)
not a full how to, but som guidence... cause i am still learning and still making many misstakes...
But i am gonna try to make my best.
I DONT HAVE TIME TO MAKE IT NOW... LATER.

That's a good idea, and that also gives me another idea for the kitchen.
Usually when we port a ROM from another device, we just replace the other device's boot.img-kernel with our own device's boot.img-kernel. Although there may be issues with driver incompatibility, this is the general way to get the ROM booting. (Also you have to make sure you use the correct base address when using mkbootimg)
Wow
sorry it's off topic but damn good to see dsixda over here on android. I remember your roms from my diamond and elfin. Now i think a nexus one is my next device if you're cooking for em lol. As for the kitchen i think this is an amazing idea to get some more chefs in the game.

Hey man, I remember you ;-) The kitchen is working for Nexus One. However, I'm not cooking ROMs this time because public ROMs are too much work when you want to satisfy hundreds of people at once The kitchen will take the load off the cooks and also provide an enjoyable learning experience for people who want to customize a ROM the way they like it. We already have someone who has made a public ROM from this kitchen, and hopefully there will be more!
I am still looking for the downloadable shipped rom. hopefully it would be found soon. i looked on the htc site but i guess i am still lost. but thanks again for something great.

ok so the base has to be magic for it to work, so in total it is to maske it easier to modify roms to your liking? no porting ect?

Yes you need a Magic ROM as your base. In theory it should work with any Magic ROM, but I'm not 100% familiar with all the variants of the HTC Magic so maybe there are incompatibilities?
I'll be working on porting ROMs later in the day.. I have to try the new porting scripts on my Hero first.
ok, i will give it a go when we can try porting a bit more fun working with android 2.1
i just noticed a problem with the T-Mobile myTouch 3G ROMs, as my script only looks for "HTC Magic" in the build.prop and not T-Mobile myTouch 3G... I'll get to fixing that soon. I'll check for "sapphire" instead, which is more generic.
Ok I have put up an update to the kitchen, version 0.24. This one should recognize all ROMs from all variants of the HTC Magic (e.g. T-Mobile myTouch 3G).
Also another option has been added, which will allow you to port a ROM from another Android device to your Magic (it will boot up but you may have to make some changes to get everything working properly, such as drivers). Has been tested on an HTC Hero.
