xda exec video camera - General Questions and Answers

Hi if anyone can help I'd be grateful. When I turn the video camera on, the screen on my xda exec fills with the image being viewed. As soon as I press the record button the recorded image shrinks to the size of the video call camera size. This happens on the 'forward' facing camera even after selecting 'play full screen' option.Switching between the two cameras doesn't enlarge the captured image.I also completed a hard reset with no change.
Any tips please ? Thanks, Julian.

Camera question

Hello,
Is there a tweak or possibilty or tool to let the camera app record video without the camera app visible onscreen. The app must be visible onscreen or it stops recording :/
Let's say you want to do other things on your phone and record video in the meantime. Now every time I leave the camera application (without closing it) and let's say phone someone then the camera stops recording .
Thx in advance.
Anyone has an idea?
iteresting thing.. i dont found any else app.
Sorry i cant help..
I do have another question I've been meaning to ask tho...
Has any one else noticed this..
When you have camera app open ready to take a picture, if you press the black between buttons on the right hand side it makes a Grey dotted box flash around the picture, noticed it helps with the picture taking time, almost like a "hold button half way to prime a digital camera"
Am I tripping or am I right??
Just not heard of any one else ever mentioning this...
Can't help either

I think you mean the frame showing what is actually being captured on your picture (instead of the whole 'wide' view you have before taking the picture).

Sorry you've confused me..
When I open the camera app, it opens full screen with 3 icons,
Flash, shutter(take picture) and settings..
I presume every one else is the same (exept possibly cooked roms)..
When you press settings tab and all the settings are around the screen pop up..
Press the gap between the shutter button and the settings button(a dotted box will show clearly around the middle flashing for a couple of seconds)
Now take a picture, measure the time it takes from you pressing and the picture capture..
Now do the same as you normally would.. Press the shutter..
Just seems way faster with the flashy box going than without.
Can you tell me why?
friendly bump.
I am wondering what it does as well.
I'm sorry, it took me some time to figure it out.
I think this is described in the manual on page 240.
Particulary at the footnote:
'Note If you tap outside the effective focus area, a white box appears to indicate the area where you can use Touch Focus.'
Is this what you mean?

Need Motion Screen Capture Software w/PIP

I am in need of a an android tablet motion screen capture software package that would capture the actions occurring on the screen (lets say it would be what you are doing in a net browser) and at the same time, capture the user's face with the front facing camera in a small window (PIP).
File would be saved as a regular MP4 or H264 format on the SD card for later transfer.
So it would be kinda like a Skype screen with the sender's pix up in the corner and the live screen program as usual. Both being recorded, with audio simultaneously.
Has anyone knowledge of such an animal??
It's operation would be similar to Microsoft's 'Expressions" screen capture program. Sometimes called a "Usability Lab."
I would appreciate any feedback.
Cheers!
Ken

Camera not focusing where taped and gets stuck trying to take a picture

My phone freezes while trying to take a photo. Focus is also not working. The only way to wake it up is to switch off and on the screen by on/off button. Any ideas what is this about? No root, updated to last version...
While recording a video focus is also not wotking.
P.S. Front camera works perfect.
Damn you, I can't post link to video that shows how does it look because I am not a flooder...
OK, phone was returned and received back with camera changed. It was hardware problem. Not at all.

[Q] How to disable auto-play preview in gallery?

When I go into my gallery and click a video from the grid of photos and videos, it starts playing the video without the audio (even before I press play) and loops it as like an auto-generated preview of the video. Then, when I press play, it actually plays the video and audio together and shows the entirety of the clip.
How do I disable this? It's slow and glitchy and dumb. I want the clip to play when I click it, not just the video sans audio. And, to boot, it makes everything about 2-3 times slower to click and load due to a hitch/lag when you actually want it to play the clip.
I'm also experiencing a weird lag in the video player that I think might be a bug.
As I noted in the OP, when I open a video from the grid, it "previews" with white borders. If I click the play button in the center, my screen goes completely black for 1 second, then the video comes back, but this time with white borders, and then actually starts playing. So, I get like a 1.5-2 second lag between when I click the play button and when the video plays.
Does anyone else have this issue? I'm going to try turning video enhancer off and see what happens.

this stops the next video from playing. however, as EYC has mentioned - it's the looping of the video with the white bars that's the issue. my wife has the s7 and it doesn't display this behavior....

Does yours also temporarily go to a fully black screen when you hit the play button, causing the video to hitch between pressing play and it actually playing? That's what I find most irritating.

mine does exactly that. the fact that the video auto loops too drives me insane.
As a workaround to the stock gallery's wonky video player, I'm using Google Photos (which has its own built-in video player).
One of the cool things about Google Photos is you can access it directly from within the camera app. There's a setting called "Camera shortcut" within Photos, which overlays a shortcut thumbnail onto the camera. You can press and drag this thumbnail shortcut anywhere you want - you can even place it on top of the stock gallery thumbnail if you want. After you shoot a video or take a picture, the little thumbnail pops up and you can jump directly to Photos to watch the video or whatever.
Rather than use the work around suggested by Henrybravo, has anyone actually managed to find the toggle box to turn off auto play on the current selected video in Gallery? I have exactly the same issue as eyc and kdfdawg and it's driving me nuts!

This is not the issue! The problem is with Gallery, not Video Player. I've already turned off auto play next. I want to stop Gallery doing the silly silent looping video preview. There seems to be no setting to control this. I think it's a new "feature" in Gallery, and is really annoying. I have an S7 edge running Oreo.

Go into gallery app settings, go to "about gallery", where it says "version xxx.x.xxx.x" tap that seven times. Press back and there should then be "gallery labs" at the very bottom. Go in there, disable "video preview on picture list" close the app (make sure it's closed properly through "recent" then open gallery again and it should no longer show video previews!!
Samsung Gallery used to be good years ago.
Today it sucks. Try a 3rd party app like Gallery.
If anyone has a better freeware/ad free Gallery app,
please post it

Blank XZP 4k video app

hey guys, I encountered some strange problem tonight..
but I want to record 4k video and I swipe then open the app but voila..!! it just showing a black blank screen with no button or any interface.. just like freeze app..
other app like panorama, audio photo, picture effect is normal, video recording using normal camera and slowmo is normal too..
I dont know when it started to happen but first time I receive this phone, 4k run without problem..
any idea how to fix this? please help..
Its the same in safe mode
Have you restarted your device and cleared data from the problem apps? That may help.
I did both clear data on camera and restart and still not work..
ps: finally I did factory reset, and it works.. TT_TT
I was happy to buy xz premium . I recorded about 4 min of 4k video and I can not see it. The phone says "can not play video" I tried video, album or google drive and nothing. Now, I am so disappointed with this phone.
