PocketGBA question - General Questions and Answers

So I was trying to get PocketGBA to work on my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone.
The CAB wouldn't install at all (I probably should have taken that as a hint) and Direct Installation always crashes. From what I can gather from the debug file, it is trying to allocate memory but failing every time. Finally, it just gives up.
Is there anyway to make it work or did it only run on WM5 and doesn't work on WM6?
If it is hopeless, then what other alternatives do I have?
Thank you for your time.
edit: I think...I figured it out...and it's because...I'm an idiot. I'm guessing I have a Windows Mobile 6.1 Smartphone...
Doh.
Doesn't seem like many options for Smartphones.

I see alot of people mentioning this software but i am unable to even install it on my S710. I am aware that it is for pocketpc but is it possible to get it to run on a HTC S710?
Well, obviously it is not possible to run this app on smartphone. And the reason is that it is a ppc app.

Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile

Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile is an application for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 PocketPCs and Smartphones that allows you to use your Windows Mobile device as a Bluetooth SideShow device. Installation instructions are below. This is a beta release.

I've not got this working with my wm6.1 ipaq ppc (classic) with widcomm stack.
please let us know if you get it working with your device (hw&sw versions) and any comments.
Also if you find any gadgets that you recommend let us all know.
Samsung i600 is working perfectly, but there are very few sideshow gadgets and most of them suck .
The mobile app says it is a beta and has expired, does anyone know if there is a newer/better version out there I've been looking all over the place and cant find anything? Am I the only person who thinks sideshow is really cool???
i am also getting a similar message that beta has expired ... any help

Ive had the cab for this for ages, but only recently have I had vista to be able to use it.
Ive had it working well on:
HTC S710 VOX
HTC P3450 ELF
HTC P3450 ELFIN
Doesnt seem to work on my Polaris, doesn't seem to save my user name. Always get asked to "Selected Current User" and can never turn on any gadgets in windows. Anyone else with the same problem?
thats what the expired cab did for me. have you uninstalled the old one and reinstalled the new one?
i'm using it for the media centre gadgets, but i have TV Pack 2008 and they dont work with it :-(
i've been waiting years for sideshow and now the thing i want to use it with isnt suported

yeah tried to install the new one but doesn't work. Apparently Microsoft are working on this but I don't think they will release anything soon. They stated that "We have seen this issue, and are investigating the cause. It seems to be sporadic." Testing this on Windows 7 beta so don't know whether this is the cause or whether it might be the ROM I am using.

How to make Pocket Informant work in int'l OS?

Hi
I have an HTC Touch HD with Swedish Windows Mobile 6.1. I very much want to use the PIM program called Pocket Informant. But when I try to install it, I am told that my platform is not supported
Is there any way that I can still go ahead and install it? Or is there a great chance that it will not work, even if I should not be able to install it?
I am quite annoyed that I cannot easily replace my Swedish OS license and installation with an English one, but that's another discussion....
I guess my question merely is; Is there a tweak that can be carried out, to run English Windows Mobile programs on non-English installations? I don't know Windows Mobile that well, so I have no idea whether this would actually be possible.
On Windows based PC's, this works. So I thought it might be the same on Windows Mobile devices?

Due Yesterday for Windows Mobile?

I dont know if any of you have heard of the program called Due Yesterday for Palm OS, but its a program that allows you to keep track of classroom assignments and schedules. I used this program extensively untill i upgraded to a windows mobile HTC Raphael. Now im stuck without this program and i was hoping someone knew of a similar program.
Ill let the link speak for itself about the program:
http://www.freewarepalm.com/database/dueyesterday.shtml
don't know of such an app, but you can run palm os apps on windows mobile with this http://www.styletap.com/
I tried it a while back and it worked fine.
hope this helps
This seems like a really neat application but is there anything for free?
Or how about an actual program that i can use? thanks.
As with ISiCK, I also used Due Yesterday on my Palm(s) before getting a Raphael and am interested in an equivalent application for Windows Mobile.
In short: *bump!*
I know this is an older thread but has anyone found anything close to Due Yesterday for Windows Mobile? I have it running with styletap but I'd like to be able to sync the information with my PC.

[Q] ipaq hx4700 bluetooth

hey guys, im really sorry but i dont know where to post this first. so i'll just start here.
im after some info or/and advice about my ipaq hx4700. now i know this model is pretty outdated... but i like it .
now my problem is that some of the software i am trying to use only works with Microsoft bluetooth stack.. but the ipaq hx4700 comes with built in Widcomm drivers. is there anyway that the widcomm drivers can be replaced with the microsoft ones? i understand there may be conflicts along the way,but is it possible? maybe via editing registry? or if not... are there any apps/software/drivers to mimic the microsft bt stack? maybe progrmmed visual studio??
ive tried every rom i could get my hands on.. from windows mobile 03/05/06/6.1/6.5 most of them are 'cooked' roms, but still wrong divers. good OS tho. i have read a few pages on 't'internet' where ppl have replaced micosoft drivers with the widcomm drivers via registry + installing the DLL files, but im not sure on how to reverse the situation with the appropriate drivers. i can do this operation in Windows XP but not really familier with CE. ive also read that you can extract the ROM and change part of the OEM section, then rebuild and flash. i have all the software and hardware for such operations, but for some reason i cannot extract any of the ROMs :/
Any help or advice would be really great.
Thanks.
