I am looking for somebody to please attach to this thread a .reg of virgin (or nearly) settings stored in HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera
I'm trying to figure out a problem I've read about in other threads with unsatisfactory resolutions (hard reset and/or disable a feature). There are actually two problems.
1. My camera started locking up after taking pictures and pictures would not save. In Camera\Image there's a setting EnableEncodePortrait that controls whether the camera automatically rotates the picture 90 degrees. If you disable this, the camera WILL take pictures again, but...
2. The Album shows all new pictures rotated incorrectly 90 degrees. Basically, every picture is portrait and not landscape.
Now, these two problems seem to oppose each other. If you want the pictures autorotated to the correct orientation, you need the setting enabled. But if you don't want the camera to freeze you need it disabled. lol
Obviously somewhere along the line in my tweaking I've fouled something up. I'm thinking it's just a matter of finding some setting to tweak back to an appropriate value, so I wanted to compare the registry from a virgin install to mine. I would hard reset myself, but then I can't test to see if I fixed the problem or not.
Can I get a hand, my fellow tweakers?!
Thanks!

EDIT: I've found that my problem was the Diamond 2's gsensor. After I uninstalled that, and set EnableEncodePortrait back to zero, my problems magically disappeared.
are there anyway to have camera work proper with diamond 2 gsensor?
i dont think the solution is to uninstall and forget about it. i never have any problems with camera. i know the camera uses the accelerometer to decide whether to have the picture in landscape or portrait. i have an issue with double rotate in album though. ill have to get some proper screenshots of what i mean. other problems i have is teeter freaks out. i solved that by deleting the entry for it in gconfig. the rest i havent decided yet.
thanks
i uninstalled and live happily ever after~

Hi, first time poster! Anyways I recently acquired the HTC Fuze which is my first Windows mobile phone and everyhting semmed to by working fine until today. Now whenever I enter any games, the camera, or any program that requires the G-sensor it always assumes I am in landscape mode and I am unable to move to portrait mode even when the phone is fully up right.
The sensor still seems to work, but only in landscape mode. I have applied several tweaks and added several applications, but none that were anything major and none that have to do with the G-sensor (at least I think). I have also tried calibrating it several times and the every seems to work right it just won't leave landscae mode. Anyways, is there any way I can fix this without a hard reset (trying to avoid)? Also my phone is still under the ATT 30 day return policy so should I just return it and get a new one?
Thanks to anyone that can help!
does the calibration tool give any feedback?
are you sure your taking the pictures rightside up w/ the camera?
some games require u to flip out the keyboard for landscape or portriate mode, have u tried toggling the keyboard?
Yes, the calibration tool seems to work fine.
Also about the keyboard, yes I have tried that and it seems to work for some applications, but some applications stay in one mode regardless of whether I have it flipped up, down, right, left, or with the keyboard out.
Okay. it now works again, but the when I want to take a picture it is in landscape mode still. I can take a picture in portrait mode, but all the photo adjustment modes (when you tap the screen) are still in landscape, but I think I might know what caused that. I made of few adjustments to the registry to get some more camera modes and i think that might have caused it. Also, why do American cellphone carriers have to stifle innovation by removing the front camera?
Thanks for your advice Orbitrix.
G-sensor only works sometimes
Usually, the G-sensor does not rotate the phone when it is supposed to in various apps-like photos. I have tried adjusting the timing in Advanced Config and using the calibration tool. Sometimes it works perfectly, but usually, nothing happens. This is VERY frustrating!!!
Anyone have any other fixes?
Rom version: 1.90.707.4 WWE
Rom date: 8/23/08
Radio version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol version: 52.33.25.17U
Some progress??
I just noticed, that if I open the Pictures/Video program, so it brings up the screen of thumbnails, then open a photo from there, the G-Sensor doesn't work when I tilt the TP. However, if I scroll through the photos in the TF3D interface, then select a photo from there, the tilt works very quickly. (I reset interval to 75).
Hey all,
I just got (and totally love) the Fuze. I've already flashed it to NATF's 2.2 and it's just amazing. The only problem is that somewhere between yesterday and today, the camera has totally flaked out on me :-(.
I'll take a picture (and regardless of if its set to store on the memory card or internal mem) and once I opt to save it, the Fuze just hangs with the "Windows thinking" ball spinning. After a while it goes back to "Albums" and the recently shot picture isn't there.
I implemented the GPS fix and have been toying in Advance Config -- but I don't think any of those changes should have affected the camera. Even weirder, the picture counter is incrementing and I do have open storage on both the card and internal.
Any ideas?

same thing happened to me.
Turns out autoconfig has a bug for the fuze.
For the camera options in autocofig
there's something called portrait, and was initially disabled.
changing it to enable breaks the camera.
took me days to figure that out...l o l

Thanks! That was the problem and now the camera works fine! Is there a FAQ or something this should go into? Without your help I would never have found that.

haa..np at all..just sharing something that i've found out after hours of hard resetting, flashing, installing, etc... l ol
maybe tomorrow'll be you helping me...
cheers!

Thanks!
I had this problem too, on both my Sprint Touch Pro and AT&T Fuze. Wouldn't save in photo mode (though video, contacts photo, panorama etc. modes were okay). There was no error message on the Fuze so I didn't realize there was a problem until I went looking for some pictures and couldn't find them. After I figured out what has going on I checked the Sprint version to see if it had the same problem. The Sprint Pro at least gives an error message about not being able to save the file.
I had installed Advanced Config on both devices, so I thought it might be one of the settings in there that had killed the camera. However, telling AC to restore all settings didn't fix it so I've been tearing my hair out looking for other causes. Fortunately I found this thread before rendering myself completely bald.
Is this a bug in AC, or was I wrong in my assumption that "restore all settings" would restore everything to default?
I wonder how many people with Fuzes have this problem but don't know about it due to the lack of an error message.
Cheers,
Elizabeth
Thanks, saved me hours. My pictures would save sometimes, but only half of the picture. Works perfectly again now.
glad someone helped you out!

raphael camera pause
raphael camera saving problem
touch camera issue

touch camera saving problem
omg! this has bugged for the last month or so, and i've been too busy to do a good search on it! i thought i didn't try the right combination. i don't remember changing anything with AC, still thanks so much for the solution funnysam
Does new Autoconfig version fix the bug?
The latest version is 3.3.0.0.
Does anyone know if that bug was fixed?
I ask (instead of providing feedback from my own experience) because I had the older version installed first, and then installed the new version over it, so maybe the bug persisted.
AdvConfig 3.3 doesn't list the option for portrait now.

Hmm, interesting.
I performed a "Reset all settings" did a soft reset, and the option for the Portrait is now visible, with "Enabled (default)" selected.
Once I disabled that option, camera is working great.

Same problems, and this works for me
Thanks, Bros
I'm using AC3.3 and have some weird camera issues. The closest option I can see in AC3.3 is to "Encode photos in portrait mode" and have NO selected. Is this the option you guys are talking about?
Yes. That's the option.
For me, that fixed the issue of the camera taking *forever* to save the picture and then display the options buttons. Even if I left the camera to finish, the picture never saved.
And, it didn't matter whether the shot was landscape or portrait - with that option enabled, the problem persisted until that setting was disabled.
Too bad, because that would be a nice feature!
Thank you!!!
This problem has been plaguing me for the last 2 days. Seems that whenever I get my Fuze working just the way I like, something else happens to irritate the crap outta me. Thanks for posting this!
Hm.. I'm using Advanced Config 3.3 as well and it doesn't display the portrait option. Does anybody know the registry setting this is modifying?
I am glad I stumbled across this series of posts. My experience with the Autocofig Bug gave me several days worth of heartburn. Thank you for the help!! It was much appreciated!!!
Hey, how's it going everyone? I am new to these forums, and I have attempted to do some searching around, but I have yet to find a true answer to this problem. So, I love my Samsung Infuse. I just got it roughly a week ago, and I am basically switching from my iPhone 4. An issue that I am having is that I want to be able to take pictures in portrait mode and landscape mode, but the camera doesn't seem to be designed to take pictures in portrait mode, as every picture I take like that, the picture always comes out at some 90 degree angle. Is there any way to really fix this, so that I can take pictures in both modes? Maybe a handy application that I haven't seen in the market? I just want to be able to turn the phone one way and take a picture, which I don't understand why it isn't implemented in the first place. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
I am not sure if this will help what you are trying to do or if you already tried it. There is a turnwheel kind of icon on 1 of the corners when the camera application is turned on.if you click that, there is a option for scene mode. if you click on that, you will get various options inside. 1 of them is portrait. hope this helps.
^ i dont think that is what the op means.
op you ar eright the previews dont detect the phones prientation, but they show correctly in the gallary so the phone is detecting the orientation. if they are 90deg off when pulled to the computer then it would seem there is a bug in the orientation, i havent tried copying to my computer, nor sure is there is an issue beyond the previews only displaying in landscape mode.
I haven't seen anyone else with this issue, but maybe they've just been silent. So, I take a picture, everything is fine. I look in the gallery, everything is fine. But when I go to share the picture either via MMS, uploading to an app, or uploading to a webpage, the image appears on the page but has been rotated 90 degrees. Has anyone else had this issue? It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be annoying. Somewhere between the gallery and the upload, the picture gets rotated. But if I go into my gallery, the picture is fine. It's only on the site/app that it was uploaded to that it rotates on its own.
Happens in hangouts every time I send a portrait oriented photo. Happens on friends s6's too.
Now that you mention it, it has always happened with pictures taken in portrait mode.
Happens to me also. Emailing pictures they are rotated.
Copied the picture to my computer and when I opened it to edit I got a message indicating that the Exif data indicated that the picture had been rotated and asked if I wanted to rotate it.
Odd that it's not displaying correctly.
Same issue, annoying
This has been happening with the S6 I bought for my wife, and so far I haven't seen anyone post a solution. It seems odd that more people aren't complaining about it though. Hopefully the update they just released addresses this issue, but it's not listed in the changelog. Since I bought it off swappa I'm really hoping it's not a hardware defect.
Hasn't happened since applying the last update, fingers crossed that it's fixed now.
S6 Edge pics rotated 90 degrees
I'm having the same problem, but for me it is more than just annoying. It impacts my work. Perhaps 50% of the time, pictures I post to the professional app related to my job are rotated 90dg. More than just annoying, it's unprofessional.
As far as I know, my phone is up to date with updates. In fact, this problem may not have started until the last update.
Please advise.
I've had this problem both with my S3 with various stock and AOSP roms (and different camera apps) and now on the S6 on stock and XtreStoLite as well. After googling a lot and occassionally encountering other people's flipped photos I learned this is a problem with how the phone handles EXIF data and how certain apps or software on the computer handle it. Apparently the info of rotation is changed (90, 180, 270 and 360) but some apps ignore it while others don't. It could be another case of Samsung messing too much with source codes.
Then again, my cousin has the same problem with his iPhone..
Bare with me. I'm falling asleep messing with the camera in low light....
I've searched here on my phone but I'm only showing 4 threads total in this section so it seems something is weird with that but ...
Anyway, after I take a shot in full manual, all the extra manual toggles disappear... ISO, Focus, shutter speed etc. If I flip the camera to the front and back again, they return. Not even closing the camera and reopening fixes it, only flipping the camera.
A reboot doesn't change this behavior. This is the first time I've really messed w manual mode so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. Thanks.
