HTC Thoth
The successor to the HTC Athena -- AKA the HTC Advantage series -- will apparently be the HTC Thoth. According to both unconfirmed sources, it will use the same general shape as the current model: a tablet with a large display and a detachable keyboard (see image at left).
The Thoth will supposedly sport a WVGA touchscreen that's considerably larger than the one on the Whitestone: 4.8 inches.
It will run Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro on a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor and sport 256 MB of RAM and a 5 MPx camera.
It is expected to hit the market in September.

Qualcomm Processor again? I hope it does utilize it's full potential this time.

How long before we have a ported ROM for Kaiser?
FYI - portions of the WinCE the Diamond uses along with some of the updated HTC programs have already been "ported" to the Kaiser and other HTC phones.
HTC Raphael goes wiki

this is a sick ass phone!
How long to US release. Its obvious the touch pro will NOT work in the US which is extremly retarted!
nice looking phone
Out with the credit card. Again.

[WMPU] Whitestone, Firestone and TP2 for T-mobile confirmed D2 gets release date!

Well according to this article over at WMPoweruser the afformentioned mobiles are on track for release: (I appologize if this has been posted)
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=3428
Whitestone: Its the Touch HD equivalent for USA but with a little twist. It still runs at 528 Mhz processor but its on a Qualcomm 7600 and not a 7200. I'm not sure what the main difference is, but lets hope its video drivers I also like the design better than HD... One smooth back instead of the bulging camera and that stand is nice. Screen size is smaller though and has 256 instead of 288 memory.
Stated for release in September on Verizon.
Firestone: This is the new Touch HD. It will have 8mp camera and runs 600Mhz 8250 Qualcomm and has a screen size of 3.6 (like the whitestone).
In regards to design i think Black/Whitestone is better, with mroe rounded edges than looking like a brick all around!
Stated for release in August for EU.
Athena 2 - Interesting tidbit... it runs the same processor as Firestone but at 1Ghz... Does this mean you can overclock the Firestone? time will tell
Tungsten : This is the Touch Pro 2 for US. It will be available in May on T-Mobile.
Also according to Coolsmartphones, Devicewire.co.uk has listed Diamond 2 for release on April 10th (guess who is happy about this? I will be in the UK from 10 to 20 )
[EDIT] It seems (reading the comments below) that Qualcomm 8250 does not exist. The name of the Snapdragon processor is 2850. So lets just hope its just a typo.

Am i the only one who thinks the tp2 is disapointing?

Hear me out.
It looks nice enough but im a owner of a x1 which i think looks better, but this is not my point.
I look at the specs of my x1:
288mb ram (ram on gpu - but never proven)
512mb rom
480 - 800 wvga 3.0" screen
3.2mp camera
wm 6.1
qualcomm msm 7200a cpu (528mhz arm 11 core + 256mhz arm 9 core)
1500mah battery
+ all the standard stuff
now the tp2 specs
288mb ram
512mb rom
480 - 800 wvga 3.6" screen
3.2mp camera
wm 6.1 (with free upgrade to 6.5)
qualcomm msm 7201a cpu (528mhz arm 11 core. not sure if it has second core???)
1500mah battey
--------------------------------------------------
To me the specs are almost the same and by the time the tp2 gets release it would be about 9 months after the x1. Dont u think the specs should have been a lot better?
Well although they may look the same on paper, the Diamond2 (essentially the same as the Pro2 software, processor and GPU wise), scored extremely high on core player's benchmarks, especially compared to the XPERIA. Go here to read more. And in addition, I think HTC made leaps and bounds with tweaking its newer devices and TF3D (probably the same stuff the fine folks at XDA have been doing for years) to make them much faster, despite having almost the same hardware.
Plus, the tilting screen is a huge plus for me. The Kaiser, with its beautiful tilting screen, is admittedly my first Windows Mobile device, so now I kind of expect a tilting display (I'm spoiled now). I think HTC may be including real, fast, uncrippled GPU drivers this time, so the devices will be faster like they are (NOT CONFIRMED, just my own suspicion). And I believe the processor has a second core, simply because I'm pretty sure all of the Qualcomm MSM7xxx processors do. So IMHO I think it's a little better than the X1 because of its speed and its bigger screen, although I've never owned an XPERIA so I don't know for sure.
Dave
They could have, at the very least used a 5MP camera, but then... I think they'd reason out that it's not the main reason you're buying HTC.
it better have drivers or i am seriously thinking my next phone will be a toshiba with a 1ghz snapdragon cpu.
I just hate that the touch pro 2 does not have a dpad or softkeys.
x1 has bad benchmarks because it has really bad drivers. as far as touchflo goes thats software that and device can have. (as the new touchflo in the tp2 has been cooked into a rom and cab form for the x1 and touch hd).
i cant see how they can release a product 9 months after and just twick the hardware a bit and the ask for the £500.
im waiting for a phone with a bit jump in specs
The TP2 is better, but not by much at all, so I am either going to go with the Toshiba TG01, SE Idou, or Omnia HD.
Well
At least is the best option to upgrade from Universal
Is not the best for sure but it´s something imprivement
Otherwise wait to december and you´ll see the new 2010 models!

Exactly like me. The biggest thing I hate in the TP2 is the old and slow CPU. The 1 GHz Snapragon is SO much faster. I've tested it in the TG01 myself and found it EXCELLENT - see my MWC articles if interested.
Come on, HTC, it's 2009 - the TG01 was already in working order in February (again, I've tested it myself at MWC), why couldn't you put the same Snapdragon in your phones?!
tegra chip + android = perfect touch pro 2

I totally agree!
To answer the thread initiators question - DEFINITELY NOT!
Snapdragon got it all sewn up for me. (Toshiba's TG01 K01 Anybody?)
agree, I'm looking forward to a powerful device with Snapdragon! and it looks like toshiba will have it out many months a head of the ever sooo slow htc.
Device with Snapdragon is powerful, but without d-pad and other buttons is unuseful. Fast CPU is not enough. I have Touch HD and this device is nice, but very uncomfortable and hard to control :-(...
I'm actually dumping my X1 because I hate the keyboard, but I'll probably get a Fuze before the Touch Pro 2 comes out to hold me.

I tested it from a EXPO in Hongkong.
It will be surprise for fans of umpc.
The iMX515 is not a 1 Ghz processor. The iMX515 is an 800 Mhz processor.
I have a mac, how do I flash fiirmware without using recovery mode (I don't have it, simple as that)
I'm very interested in purchasing one of these and playing with it. This looks to be
similar to the others mentioned. I'm new to android but comfortable with the hardware and have other experience with rooting etc. Perfectly willing to risk bricking the thing to help the cause but want to make sure I'm starting with the
best hardware/software possible out of the box. Not worried about $40 +/- to ensure getting the right toy at the start...
Can't post a link but its the "apollo 9.7" currently showing as out of stock at Pandawill
Any thoughts or recommendations welcome, perfectly willing to wait a week or a month if we're dealing with batch issues etc but would like to order asap...

Ainol new 7" 4.0 tablet PC line $99 to $189.

I wanted to get a discussion going about this line of 7" ICS tablets *coming soon* from Ainol. Ainol is a budget chinese brand, but has been establishing a name for itself after becoming the manufacturer of the first ICS tablet. I have played with an older Ainol model, the Paladin, which has a pretty nice build quality to it, but the crippling factor was that it used a MIPS processor that was incompatible with a number of popular apps. This line of tablets uses ARM processors, so there shouldn't be any app compatibility issues. Here are the tablets with a list of key features. I've listed in green what the upgrades are from the previous model.
Tornado $99
Screen: 800x480
CPU: 1ghz Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB or 16GB(+$20)
Camera: 0.3MP front
Micro SD slot
Mars $129
Screen: 1024x600
CPU: 1ghz Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB or 16GB(+$20)
Camera: 0.3MP front
Micro SD slot
ELF II $149
Screen: 1024x600
CPU: 1.5ghz Dual Core Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB
Camera: 2.0MP front
Micro SD slot
Mini HDMI
Aurora II $189
Screen: IPS 1024x600
CPU: 1.5ghz Dual Core Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB
Camera: 2.0MP front
Micro SD slot
Mini HDMI
It appears that they should be getting the Tornado and Mars tablets very soon, but the Elf II and Aurora II will not be available until May according to what I've read. Spemall appears to be a fairly reliable seller of android tablets. You can see them interacting with customers on their facebook page and twitter . They have posted pictures of the tablets and spec sheets on their facebook page as well. You may want to wait to order until they have given confirmation that they have stock on hand.
I like the look of these tablets. They have a nice clean modern look with a solid piece of glass covering the front. Most cheap chinese tablets are fairly ugly and have raised borders over the screen. I would find it hard to spend $189 on the Aurora II, especially since I'm expecting to see a Google/Asus tablet with the same specs coming in July for $200. However, the first three seem reasonably priced to me.
If you want to get a better idea of what these are like, check out this set of video reviews for the original Aurora. I believe they are using the same case/build style as the original Elf/Aurora on these new tablets. Really, the only difference between the original Elf/Aurora and the Elf II/Aurora II is the dual core processor. You can get the original Aurora for $169.

I've got an Elf (original model)
Its pretty nice, build quality is a bit...cheap, there's some creaks in where the bezel connect to the back plate, and this thing is unusable when its really hot.
But it does have a nice dev community and if you're not happy with that, just use some ROMs for the Aurora, they're pretty much the same, save for the IPS display on the Aurora.
But, thy buy a tablet like his nowadays, when the Nexus7 just managed to massively outclass these Chinese tablets
