Names in call history lost - how to recover? - General Questions and Answers

For some unfathomable (and at this moment, irrelevant) reason my activesync partnership decided it had to re-sync all my contacts on my Windows Mobile device (it is a Touch Diamond with stock 1.93 ROM).
No contacts or calendars were lost.
However, because the contacts were re-written, all I see on my contact list are the numbers, not the names associated with those numbers.
The call history remains, but it no longer shows names. It is one long list of numbers, which is not very useful. Calls made after the contacts re-sync do show names as usual.
Is there any way to re-associate the call history with the names?
How does the call history - contacts list association work anyway?

Outlook contacts sync

I have the following situation:
I previously had a Nokia 6680, which I used to sync with Office Outlook, through Nokia Pc Suite. The problem is that all my contacts phone numbers, was filed as "Other" , in the Outlook contacts field, and now, when I synced again with my XDA III, I realised that ActiveSync doesn't sync the "Other" numbers. So, on my PDA, it appears only the contact names, but not the phone numbers.
The only solution I found, is to change the field section in Outlook, for all the contacts, one by one, but that would be terrible for my over 400 contacts.

Tool to unlink multiple merged contacts

After using Kies to sync Outlook with my Captivate without any major issues (To sync my Contacts and Calendar) it stopped working after a recent automatic update. Now in order to sync I have to do a driver recovery before I connect my phone. When I synchronized earlier today, for some reason, it put duplicates of all my contacts in the "Not Assigned" group, but it also linked these with the existing contacts that I had painstakingly organized in several groups. So, if I delete any contact in the "Not Assigned" group it also deletes the contact that I have placed it its corresponding group. It beats me why Android links all contacts by default without giving the user the opportunity to choose?
I have over 1,500 contacts and unlinking the contacts one by one is not practical. It took me a long time to put all my contacts in groups in the phone given that the Outlook categories do not correlate to the phone groups. Whenever I added a couple new contacts in Outlook all I had to do was assigned them to their respective group in the phone after I synced. I guess what I'm looking for is a tool or a script that I can run to batch unlink the merged contacts. Removing all the contacts and resynchronizing is not practical either as I would have to group even more contacts now than when I grouped them over a couple days when I first got the phone.
Kies, Kies... has the potential to be an indispensable tool, but it just falls flat on its face if you ask it to do anything. Even the most fundamental function (Connect) it a PITA. It looks like Samsung spent more time on making the GUI look pretty than it did making the actual functions work.

[Q] Hiding SNS contact details

Hi.
I have the samsung galaxy S and have just recently synced my phone contacts with my facebook and twitter accounts.
The only annoying thing about this is that obviously it also pulls information about the contact such as phone numbers, email addresses, etc. from the sites too. I have found that many of my contacts have old or disconnected telephone numbers as they have not updated them. This is not too much of a problem as I have their current phone details, etc. stored on my phone anyway, but I want to be able to hide the numbers or email addresses that have been pulled from my facebook/twitter account so they do not show on my contacts page.
I have marked up the relevant numbers as default, but I was wondering if there was a setting anywhere that would hide any numbers from twitter/facebook that have not been set as the default number.
Thanks for any info on this.

[Q] Contact issue after syncing them to Android

I bought Samsung Note II to replace my iPhone mobile. I synced all contacts to MS Outlook then to Android. I had 2 issues after doing that:
1- phone numbers that were under "iPhone" phone number field were change to "other" phone number field in MS Outlook. So when I synced them to my Android, this phone number "other" was not synced!
2- some contacts has more than 3 phone numbers. when I open them from the contacts, all numbers are shown, but when I open them in the phone dialer, only the first 3 phone numbers are shown!
By the way, if I add new number in the Android contact editor, it will be shown in the contacts and phone dialer even if it have more than 3 phone number!!
I really stocked in that I have lots of contacts in my phone

Exchange Contacts Sync

Hello and sorry if this was repeated. I sync my contacts from Outlook.com using HTC (m8 & m9) stock mail app. The second mobile number in a contact is always showing as "Car" number not as "Mobile" Number in my phone. Sometimes, some additional strange changes is happening in my contacts details too. My question is this a problem relates to Android, HTC, or MS Exchange service?
