I have the following situation:
I previously had a Nokia 6680, which I used to sync with Office Outlook, through Nokia Pc Suite. The problem is that all my contacts phone numbers, was filed as "Other" , in the Outlook contacts field, and now, when I synced again with my XDA III, I realised that ActiveSync doesn't sync the "Other" numbers. So, on my PDA, it appears only the contact names, but not the phone numbers.
The only solution I found, is to change the field section in Outlook, for all the contacts, one by one, but that would be terrible for my over 400 contacts.

Ok here is a small question. I have added all of my old phone contacts to the phone contacts. But when I am using the Calender of my HTC Diamond ( which is basicly Outlook ) and set up a meeting, I am not able to add any contacts from the phone contacts. THe list of contacts it empty. So that means there is a phone contacts list and a outlook contact list.
Why? I mean shouldnt this all be handeled by windows mobile? Is there an easy way of getting the phone contacts to my outlook contacts? And will the outlook contacts work for calling somebody?
This just doesn't make any sense usability wise to me..
P.S.: Active sync only "sees" the outlook contacts , which are empty on my phone.
Hi,
please specify "phone contact". Are these one your SIM card? Because if not, they should be synced with your outlook contacts(in outlook, they should show in contacts now)
Otherwise you can just copy all sim contacts to your phone.
To answer your question, yes you can call outlook contacts with the phone, ofcourse after sync.

Before I got my WinMo phone I had all my email accounts in outlook, along with my contacts and calendar. I consolidated all of my email accounts into my gmail account. Imported all of my contacts and calendar entries.
I downloaded my emails to my phone through an IMAP connection, I sync my calendar entries between the phone and gmail. Is there a way I can sync my contacts from my phone to gmail without going through outlook on my computer?
I want to eliminate the middle man (my computer) in all the syncing so all of my stuff is available through my phone or gmail so that way if i'm at a friends and don't have my phone or computer I can still access information if need be.
With the contacts, in case its not clear enough, I synced all my contacts from outlook to my phone when I got it. I then imported all of my contacts from outlook into gmail. Now I get a call on my phone and then add that number as a new contact. How do I sync that new number into gmail without going through outlook?
http://www.google.dk/search?source=...ontacts+pocketpc&btnG=Google-søgning&meta=lr=
tried looking here?
I was searching syncing gmail contacts windows mobile instead of pocketpc and gsync wasn't coming up on my search. Ill have to give it a try later. OGG Sync says it does contacts but the only thing I can find on it is calendar.
Thanks for the help
Gsync doesn't sync contacts from the phone to google. Somebody has to be doing this?
Try nuevasync.com
plexo.com + rememberthemilk.com + mesh.com = complete outlook replacement
Is paid service ($50/yr) but is by far the best I've ever used. Will sync your contacts and calendar with device/outlook/google/yahoo etc. I also use rememberthemilk to sync taks online, and Live Mesh for files and photos. Using Linux as a main OS forces you to find all the best-of-breed non-MS solutions, it's entirely possible to ditch outlook and still have 100% functionality replaced with online cloud services.
So I’m using Outlook 2007 (set up with my hotmail account via outlook connector) syncing with my Touch Pro. On my Pro, I also have Windows Live, with my hotmail account syncing with the hotmail server. I have this set up so I will recive my hotmail e-mail and contacts when I’m away from my computer. However, I notice that there are two entries (and sometimes three) for every contact, the Outlook contact, the Live contact, and then sometimes a non-live contact. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Am I just stuck with choosing between my Outlook contacts and Hotmail contacts?
I hope this isn’t too confusing.
Thanks
In the Windows Live options on your device, where you choose to sync your Live contacts, you can select 'merge dublicate contacts'. Have you checked this option?
I have a all our family contacts in Outlook and we have three different HTC WM6.1 phones that we would like to sync with the contacts database. The problem is that each phone just want some of the contact synced. Example: phone 1 just want to sync all contacts with category phone1, phone 2 with categoy phone2...
I have tried but i can't make it work. Any suggestions on how to setup a sync like this? Any other software? Settings/hack for Outlook?
operating systems today are made to be multiuser
if you make 3 login users on your computer
each user will have their own outlook which can sync with
each phone
you can transfer data between the outlook's using export
and import of pst files
what you ask is something I haven't heard about before
sounds very spc and not something the general public
would request too much
Syncing the HTC 7 Pro's contacts (and I suppose in other WP7 phones) with Outlook is a giant step backward from Windows Mobile 6.5 as I had on my HTC HD2. WP 7 phones (at least the HTC 7 Pro, I haven't tried any other WP7 phone) no longer includes full, direct Contacts sync with Outlook (2010 in my case), but only:
-Sync with a Microsoft Exchange server
-Sync with Microsoft 365 (cloud-based).
Those who have neither are stuck with using a Hotmail/Live ID account, install the connector on Outlook, copy contacts to the new folder that is created and then sync this new account. But there are two major problems:
-The new folder will not accept contacts that have no email address (I have 60 of those out of around 2000 contacts). The only solution is to carry a second phone like my HD2, or more realistically assign a dummy email address to these contacts. The problem is compounded by the fact that when you perform bulk transfer of your contacts Outlook does not identify which are email addressless and rejects the whole transfer.
-The "notes" field in the Hotmail account is shorter than that in Outlook 2010: beyond 1024 characters the rest of your note is truncated. This was not the case with Outlook sync in my HD2 which had the same "note" field size as Outlook.
Did I get anything wrong? Please advise. Note that I haven't yet got the 7.5 update to the ROM: I am using 7.1.
As far as I'm aware, those issues are still present in WP7.5.
You might have better luck using a GMail account for your contacts, I'm using one and it didn't have any issues with my email-less contacts, though I agree it's silly there's no direct Outlook-WP7 syncing.
