These are my ROMS. My ROMS are going to be feature a sleek user interface that is also finger friendly, while maintaining enough RAM to carry out the daily processes. These ROMS are based on what you guys want from them. If you have any suggestions or questions please post below. Remember this is in development. I am working very hard to get this to everyone on here at XDA. I hope everyone of you enjoys my effort and work put into this ROM Suite.

Q & A
Q: Their are other ROMS that claim to be finger friendly.
A: I know this. Hehe. I plan to do this better though.
Q: When will this be released?
A: After all my slaving at 2am-4am in morning is done I will send out the private betas. Once everything is working good and smoothly I will post public betas and will continue development until the desired results are achieved.
Q: What can I do to help?
A: I am willing to take any help. I will post if I have issues and if you could help me with them I would appreciate it greatly.
Beta Builds
My ROM's come in 3 Editions.
Extreme: This is the full featured build with all the extras and features.
Professional: This is the productivity version. This is meant for professionals that there main concern is stability, support and speed.
Lite: This edition is basically a stripped down version. This will be the fastest out of these ROMs as there are hardly any programs.
Build 1119
EXTREMELY EARLY BUILD. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FINAL.
This build only comes in one edition.
Edition: Extreme
Download:
Edition: Professional
Download: In Progress...
Edition: Lite
Download: In Progress...
I take no responsibility for anything that may happen. That being said; these builds are thoroughly tested, and you should not encounter and problems.
Cool man, keep us posted.

Thanks man. It will be available asap.
Check out Mort Buttons, runs on motor script and can be used as homescreen plugin, very customizable, with regards to the start program icons list, i know placement as in length vert to other so must be able to increase the size via reg, so you could say have 3 x row with larger icons.
Paradox, hopes u understand what i'm saying

So.. is this "screen shot" just a picture you created in photoshop?
Are you programming anything, or just visually constructing what you want the skin of an uncreated application to look like, hoping that some one else will make the UI happen, and planning to cook in some touch-friendly applications?
Where's the picture?
Great idea with this rom,,

When looking for Beta testers, please put me on the list . Rom looks like fun.
You say you plan on doing this better than the other multitude of touch-based UI's out there, but you're going to do it without any programming skills?
I don't really mean to be so negative, but why not just use your graphic skills to completely reskin an already great UI like PointUI or something? You won't have to go through all the trouble of building an extensive app from the ground up, which is very much alot of work.
Either way, good luck.
I can program html, css, asp, flash and alot of webstuff. I also know alot of xml. And I can cook roms. I dont know C++ or anything thought program a today list haha.

Reply!
No,sorry! This is a Windows Mobile 6 Screenshoot! is impossible to build it, simply because che start menu bar born with the operative system and there is no application, no plugin witch can cover it or changes the appearence color.

i think to skin them you should replace tapres.dll in your windows folder... and i think that homescreen is from a vox,which can run on WM6 and not a skin... again corrections are encouraged...
QTEK-METANOL, This is impossible on WM5. Your screenshot is from WM6.
i've seen somewhere in here xdadev,how to change icons on your wm5 to wm6 icons... but the bottom bars still have the separator bar...
just search for it
now i explain you!
the icons and some details like sim picture in contacts menu can be changed to other (WM6 for exemple) hacking and editing the tapres.dll file in \windows folder.
But it's different as soon as the language and from a device to an other.. the system file cannot be trasfered to the pc for edit... but if you want to spend some time for this.. you can find a lot of file of other devices.
I think it's lost time! Our cookers are working hard to give us a stable WM6 rom for Tornado device! Hope.. ""soon"" we'll have it.. so why modifing so hard a nice OS as WM5?
We must trying to encourage the cookers to moving to give us the new WM6 for Tornado!!
Don't you think like me?!!!?!!!

i guess we will have wm6 for our tornado in a couple of weeks hopefully, would y be willing to pay 40bucks for it?

thats whats really sad...
people ask money just for a THEMES that they did...
then rudely ask wm6 rom developers when the wm6 rom is coming out which they are putting up here free to upload...
its just sick!!!
I would like to say that I appreciate the work that giuseppebitonti has done, but I too feel that selling themes on a site like this, where people actually work very hard to produce useful additions to our phones for free, is just way out of track.
giuseppebitonti, you have every right to ask for donation, but what about people who don't own a credit card? Shouldn't they have the right to use your theme? And if you don't want it to be used, then why even bother to share it? And, for the record, you are not asking for donation, you are asking for payment!
At least make this clear.
PS: I don't mean to be offensive here, I'm just making my point.
Thank you My_immortal to appreciate my work. I decided to update the site to give you WM6 skin theme because I like what did you write!

With this new version, we have 8 ROMs to offer based on the WM6.0 AT&T 1.62 official release. Each ROM adds onto the previous ROM's application list, thus offering a plethora of options and applications for all to enjoy.
f your craving wasn't satisfied with one of the 8 ROMs in this release or the 17 ROMs in Alex's v5 ROMs, all of the ROMs were created by the methods described in the Kaiser ROM Kitchen Tutorial using Alex's Cooking Kits and OEM Package Tutorial.

__Alex__,
Haven't had a chance to try your ROM yet, but I wanted to thank you for taking the time to provide thorough documentation. I really like the direction some chefs are taking in this regard.
Thanks,

Alex, did you solve the issue with the small font of the Palm SMS application? Nice roms!
Great stuff Alex! I have to say I haven't changed from my Kaiser Kitchen cooked ROMs using your base rom for anything.... Even though I try everything released I always go back to it. That base is hard to beat. Thanks for all your work
I'll be loading this morning, just not sure which ROM yet. I have loved your MM ROM and am sure this one will be great as well. So many decisions! Thanks Alex!
I am so impressed!
Not that my opinion matters to anyone, but let me just commend you on a few things.
Wow! You put a bunch of work into this. Quantity, yes of course that's obvious. But the Quality of information is just superb. Discussions have taken place about this sort of thing and I have held out Quentin as the best example. I will now have to include Alex as well. I have watched your releases and have seen a consistant increase in the quality of information. This one (although much is structural and not yet filled in) is a shining example for the rest of the forums to learn from.
Now I be checking out the ROMs... Cheers
Alex - I have been playing with the Home ROM this morning and the only issue i have run into is the HTC Home Plugin is not keeping up with the time. Meaning when i turn the screen on after 5-10 minutes the clock quickly "catches-up" with the correct time. This is something I have seen with the HTC plugin in other ROMS and, at least for me, it keeps the phone from working probably with EAS and direct push. Since direct push is critical for me, I am going to try to the Games ROM and see if direct push will work correctly for me.
Overall awesome ROM, just wanted to pass along my observations from this morning.
Alex,
Looking forward to the HTC Home ROM. Any ETA when it will be available for download?

Jeez. I had to HR the thing yesterday.... 5 hours of setup later, I was back where I wanted to be.
Now, new roms! There goes another 4 hours or so of my day.
Thanks Alex! Downloading the Home one now.
Absolutely LOVE these roms!!! One quick question though. I have looked, but am not sure about what to call it to find the answer. The battery icon on the home screen in the top right corner. How do I remove it, and get back to the standard icon that is usually there?
Thanks
What's the "standard icon" you're referring to? The "X" shows up there for closing windows/apps. As for anything else that shows up there all I recall is the task manager controls. In my opinion however, that corner gets way too much action with those task managers. It drives me nuts. The "QuickMenu" with the built in task menu that Alex included is so simple, convenient and beats the others hands down.
--Cheers
Awesome work Alex!
I'm going to need to cook my own personal kit on top of this, or come up with a list/order of installed programs so that I can bring it up to snuff @ where I have it now, using Alex v4, which I think is absolutely smoking.
Keep up the good work.
Also, I know that dutty puts performance tweaks / battery tweaks in his roms... I assume that is mostly page pool / cache sizes... and was wondering if you were doing the same things in that regard. I assume the battery tweaks are all available with Advanced Settings 2.0...
Great Job Man
I love your wiki page, well organized and lots of info....
Alex,Great Job. I have been running the Home rom for a few hours now and love the apps as well as the performance. I would like to remove what I assume is the VistaHide Battery Gauge from the top of the today screen. Please advise.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Surpurb rom.
Welcome to the club, I for one can't wait to see what you can do here if you've already made such a great ROM in such a short time!
So far, everything I've tried work, SIP changed to PCM keyboard with no problem.
The ONLY thing I would change at this point is just how you title the thread. All (or most at least) of the cooks will title them with the date in brackets and change the date when they are updated. Maybe I'm a little spoiled but it helps when you only have a minute to glance through the forum and see what's new.
Again, great rom and I'll let you know if I find anything that doesn't work.

What kinda lappy are you trying to run osx on? Had a build of 10.4 running on an m6805 emachines, until graphics board inexplicably gave out.

I do a lot of reading but I can't do what you do, OP! Welcome to our forum! Looking forward to experiencing your skills on my device
And I like how this is a media edition. So many Kaiser users and everyone has a reason they got their phone. Some for multimedia. Some for word processing. Some for orgnization. Some for a little of everything (which I believe lite ROMs are best suited for) but as far as certain people's interests, we need good "edition" type ROMs with good included software to make that experience easier and more enjoyable.
I spent countless months trying so many different programs out for different uses. It is so tedious. It would be so nice for us that have tried a lil of everything to pick the best of the best and throw that into "edition" type ROMs, ya know?

Thanks for the kind words, i totally agree with your ROM philosophy, i developed this ROM for 2 reasons, although others ROMs are good they often contain bags of software i don't\ will never need, and, most are now diamond ROMs......if i wanted a Diamond i would have bought a Diamond!!! Saying that i do like the diamond clock and audio manager!
I use the Read It Later extension for Firefox heavily, and have always missed an WM App that would allow me to read the pages I've marked on my phone.
Well, since I've bought the HD2 I've missed this even more...
Now, it seems that the folks that makes RIL released an API so that anyone can make its own app...
There's an official one for the iPhone, a user made for Android... and none for WM.
I've tried to make one myself, but its way beyond my "search and learn with Google" programing skills.
This way, I want ask if someone is interested or is capable of doind a Read It Later App for WM, HD2 customized, using their API.
The site is here: http://readitlaterlist.com/
It would be really nice to have a "Instapaper" like app for WM...
Thanks in advance!
Request seconded.

It's not only saved pages...
It's like Instapaper for the iPhone.
You mark a page to read later in RIL Firefox, for example, and then can access the link throught the app in the phone to read it.
The good thing about RIL is that you can mark a page in your desktop and it sincronizes with web, so, as soon as you open RIL in the phone the page is already there.
The advantage here is that you can mark pages to read in multiple PCs (I use in Vista/7 installarion in my notebook as well as XP/7 in my desktop) and still have a unified list.

It is very nice.
ATM i'm using the web version, with the shortcut readitlaterlist.com/unread . When you create an account, this shortcut will lead you directly to the reading list.
Putting Opera zoom in 100%, it fits right in the screen.
But it lacks a lot of features. It is actually just a list of links. You have to manually check read itens, press and hold the link if you want to open in another tab.
What I miss the most is some options to store the pages for future references. Now I have to manually do this... It would be nice if the app allow us to send the pages to another apps...
I hate to bump my own threads, but no one can help me?
Can someone at least tell me what programming language would be easyer to make such an app?

Could someone at least tell me what would be the easyest way to make a app like this?
I really miss an app for RIL, since internet version is not that good.
Id also like to have this app on WM or somethin similar. Cant help you build it, though.

Thanks anyway... I'm kind of resign that this won't be done.
Using the web version. Not perfect, but does the job.
I have not used this application/service before, but it looks interesting.
I have checked the API and it looks very simple to use.
The only thing that remains before starting to code is to have a rough design of the application GUI, just to set a rough scope on the functionalities.
Then I believe it is possible to create an "ugly" but functional application in a few days. I can work on this project if I can manage to allocate some spare time on this.
zefiltrin, I think you know the usage scenarios of this application way better than me, as I have not yet used it. Why not make a few sketches for describing the GUI of the application you want to see on your PPC. I mean the buttons, lists, etc. Then I would try to realize them (again, if I can manage to allocate some spare time on this)

I´ll do that! I'm travelling until april 4th, but will try to do that as soon as I come back.
I think I´ll use some of the screeshots of the existing apps for iPhone and Android.
Thank you for your help!
Well, here are some ideas:
I think the home screen should look like iPhone's Read It Later app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The list of things to read could be similar to GReader site, with big letters, two or more lines to allow seing the whole title:
In the "Greader-like" list abobe, there shoud be a search bar and the buttons to direclty mark as read or show the text only view, like this:
Finally, it would be great to have the sharing options like iPhone app (don´t know if the API allow that):
Let me know if this helps...
Ok I will spend some time on this tomorrow.
I started working on this project, I call it "Late Reader" for now. Any better name suggestions are welcome. I think I can post a first beta or alpha in a week.

Thank you very much!
I'll be glad to test it when you release it.
ooh, this would be a fantastic application
I'll be following this with this new account.
Anyway, very anxious to see the result!

OK I should call you hugocbp as of now I guess
I was on a business trip during the week, so I could not work on this project. I plan to have some progress this weekend, and hopefully post you some alpha to test. We'll see.

No problem! I posted only to subscribe to the thread and let you know I'm the same who created it.
Take you time, I'll be here whenever you're done!
By request (and since my other half runs a HTC Magic, hehe), following on from my Hero, Pulse and Nexus One kitchens and most importantly with the permission of the legend himself that is cyanogen, i'm pleased to present a 'MoDaCo online kitchen' version of Cyanogen's v4.2.15.1 ROM.
Note: As with all of the kitchens, this online kitchen is currently only available to my MoDaCo premium members (those who have signed up to MoDaCo Ad Free or MoDaCo Plus) as it is not yet running on an infrastructure that can support a huge number of users. I don't collect donations - signing up for a MoDaCo premium membership supports future development in many areas and gives you access to great services now and exciting developments in the future!
This is the first CyanogenMod kitchen - if there's something else you'd like configurable in the kitchen, post here or in the kitchen topic and due to the nature of the system, changes can be deployed very rapidly! Of course, let me know if there are any issues too, this is v1 after all.
Click here to view the Online Kitchen at MoDaCo.
Update: a prebaked ROM for Dream / 32B Sapphire and one for 32A Sapphire are now available for ANYONE to download! Sample the kitchen's delights for yourself!
Base configuration (standard CyanogenMod with HTC IME) - download MD5: f1e923f8992911e0c5e8fcaae64ff069
Base configuration (standard CyanogenMod with HTC IME) for 32A devices- download MD5: c65de4774d9b4b704d928cf7f189927d
Enjoy!
P
Update: the online kitchen is now running on new dedicated hardware. Please bear with us as we tune performance and configuration and report any issues via PM!

So kitchen is basically creating an update.zip with custom system apps?
Sounds interesting
Yeah, exactly...
P
By request, added bcrook's EBI1/32A patch as an option - please provide feedback!
P
very nice
Looks pretty cool =)
this is pretty cool.

While I appreciate the effort - you basically used Cyanogens ROM to make a kitchen so you can profit off it. This is all just a way to sell your subscriptions.
I like a lot of the stuff you do, but this is kind of not cool.

Hence my comment above u ....
Its essentially for the newbies who keep creating threads on how to add this and that.

Why not make it FREE?
BTW, you cant add this or that... just remove apps that you don't want.
Double Post.
It appared at the horizon at last !
I always thinking something like this, but the first architecture I imaged is something like YUM.

Because this requires special infrastructure on the host to glue the pieces together and sign the package, requiring nontrivial amounts of processor time, then must serve the custom file, requiring nontrivial disk space. Neither of those is FREE.
Though a potentially useful variant would be to cache every ROM it produces for up to, say, 48 hours, with the countdown reset each time that configuration is requested (and served immediately from the cache). Classic time/space tradeoff, there, but if certain configurations are popular, probably worth it. Though, for all I know, Paul does this.
This is quite cool and similar to something a couple of us proposed on the TheOfficial AOSP/ADP/TMO thread. We ended up with theme profiles, which are heavier (larger download) but don't require the infrastructure. Always love to see alternate solutions, though!
I think you guys are misunderstanding..
modaco is not charging for CM Roms, he is charging for a service he provides. In this case, it is making it easy for people to 1) stop clogging this forum with repeat posts.. over... and over......... and over again, and 2) customize their ROMS to their liking without having to invest a lot of time figuring out how to themselves.
By saying he should be giving this away for free, you are essentially saying that someone like Red Hat should GIVE it's support away for free. I mean, how can a company make a profit off of open source software that other people have helped write??!?!?
This is no different. That is how companies like Red Hat make their money, it's their bread and butter. Not to mention, they provide Certification avenues, this is just one other way they are "making money off other peoples hard work", according to the outraged ones in this thread.
i personally think this is pretty neat, considering I have been through the learning curve of rooting my phone and trying to customize a ROM; It worked but it took me a bit before I got it right and actually was able to use my update.zip. Thanks Modaco
Listen, I'm saying anything about what he has done or how much time was put into the project.
But before I start my argument let's give it a couple days to see how it does; assuming the stats are correct on his site.
If you don't wanna use it, don't.
All the kitchens to date have been for my ROMs, I put Cynoagen's ROM into a kitchen - with his permission - because a) people asked and b) I find it useful.

Yeah, i'm caching each ROM produced, but the number of variants is HUGE and takes a LOT of disk space, so caching isn't actually as valuable as you think. With my Hero ROM IIRC I generated about 500 ROMs before I started to see any real benefit from caching. Crazy!

Now, this is something I might be interested in, depending of course on the type of functionality it will have.
By the way, I don't want to rain on your parade but I just think your current version of the project should be free; that's all.
I remember someone in the the XDA WM forums created a kitchen for roms and cabs and it was pretty cool.
I like your project but will it only work for a specific Cyan rom?
