Backstory:
Installed a couple of custom clocks on my Sprint HTC Touch Pro through provided .cab files. Didn't like them.
Ran Diamond TF3D Config to restore default theme.
Start/Settings/System/Remove Programs showed the entries for the clocks.
Used "Remove". The Remove program reported that uninstallation was not complete. Asked if I wanted to remove the entries from the installed list.
Confirmed. After a soft reboot, the clocks still showed in the installed programs list.
Deleted the clock directories from \Windows\AppMgr.
Deleted the clock entries from HKLM\Software\Apps in the registry.
Tried to remove the clocks from the "Remove Programs" again. Same result.
At this point, searched the registry - there was not a single mention of the clocks.
Then searched the built-in and removable storage cards - same.
The clock entries still appeared in the installed program list.
SOLUTION:
1) Open MemMaid.
2) Use Jump To/Databases/Database Usage.
3) Scroll the list of database entries until you find SwMgmtMetadataStore. Select it and tap Browse.
4) Scroll the list (these are installed programs) until you find offending entries. Select an entry, tap Database/Delete Selected record.
This solves the problem.

The last post by Lemkus has the solution.
Thanks a million!
I've also tried everything to get rid of "Davis Andreas' Batti" from my uninstall list but to no avail. Finally worked using MemMaid....thanks acrh2
Yay! That worked! Thank you and Lemkus!
worked for me too but in the today screen the bar is still on top of the screen! Not coloured but it still indicates the battery.
any ideas?

I have installed programs (games mainly) and removed them using add/remove on the PDA. Which never really worked as they dropped out the add/remove screen but were still available for use. So I manually deleted the files using explorer.
The result was they all went but left their shortcuts everywhere. They are viewed as an icon as something like a plain white file with blue edging, along with the programs name, which if selected read with an error saying something like error please reinstall or remove... I have tried (at least I think) to remove them from the registry but with no joy, does anyone have any good ideas?
windows\start menu\programs\ and remove the shortcut
I generally like the HTC Home plugin, although I do not particularly like the font that HTC chose for the large clock display.
I have looked through the registry, but have not been able to find the clock font details.
I do like the iPhone clock font or the font type as shown by robinVerdegaal in this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355277&page=4) post:
Does any one know how to just change the font of the clock without disabling the HTC Home Plugin?
I have another question too:
Does anyone know how to update/add in to the list of cities and towns in the HTC Home weather list - once again I tried to find in the registry, but was not successful.
Many thanks

HTC Home Plugin Customizer
Not sure it is the last. In case of doubt, do a search into the forum.
& enjoy
Thank you for the reply.
I had actually tried this program, but I was not able to get it to work.
I had tried it under a few different scenarios.
I had first changed all of the HTC Home Plugin customisations back to the defaults (by resetting the appropriate registry hacks to get back the 4 button HTC Home screen layout i.e without the Quickdial and Music Player buttons).
I then did a soft reset.
I then installed HTC Home Customiser.
When I run the program, I get the following message:
"An unexpected error has occurred in homecust.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information".
The Details are as follows:
"homecust.exe
IndexOutOfRangeException
at homecust.homecust..ctor()
at homecust.Program.Main()"
I have also tried to directly add the seperate icon files and font files into the HTC Home program files and the edit the registry to find them, but still get the same error readings.
So now I'm stuck as to what to do next.
Thanks
T
@Turnipio:
I had the seem problem initially with the same exception. You need the latest Home plugin for it to work and you can find it here.
Thanks.
I'll try it out now.

You're right ! I've forget this detail. Thanks
Turpino, just be careful with the latest plugin as you may have a problem with the "automatic" profile selection. I've tested it and remark this problem.
I've been asked to 'lock down' a couple of Intermec CN50's (running Windows Mobile 6.1) by removing certain items from the Settings Section.
The devices have custom settings applied to them via cab install which i've already finished, my problem is that I'm having trouble removing the last of the icons that my company wants removed.
In the System section of Settings i need to remove the "Regional Settings" and "Screen" icons so that users can't see them. Why these two icons have to be removed i do not know, but it's what i've been asked to do.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to remove these two items? Creating Registry Keys and using a Hide = 1 doesn't appear to work, and i cannot find .cpl files for these two items. I am currently unaware of any other methods to remove items from this section.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
To remove definitively HTC shortcuts/icons who reappared in the start menu do the following process.
in the registry, go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEn able
Change 1 to 0
SoftReset and magic.......
All it's work great !!!!

how do you actually delete the ones you want to get rid of? i under stand this is to stop them reloading but how do you get rid in the first place?
file manager
go to windows>start menu>programs and delete them from there.
Might be an easier way I've not heard of though?
Thanks czar.nik
I have made new folders using activesync in my windows/start/programs folder. The new folders are programs, apps web, etc.
Using the phones file manager, I have cut and pasted the appropriate icons in the start menu to their respective new folders that I created. Ex: I put opera and IE in the web folder, camera, video recorder in the mutimedia folder and so on. After I did the cut and paste, when I look at the windows/start/programs folder with either activesync or the phones own file manager, the icons that I cut and pasted are in their new folders, and not in the windows/start/programs folder. But, when I open the start icon on the phone, the icons I cut and pasted to the new folders still are visible, along with the same respective icon that I cut to the folders.
I did all this to unclutter the start screen. I have installed the touch X remove reappearing icon cab and have validated the registry change to 0. But, the supposed cut icons are still there, cluttering up the start page. Any ideas on how to get rid of this things forever??!!
Any solutions......anybody?
"Fun & Info" can be removed somehow?

Try to restart your device. If it doesn't help, delete those icons from star menu entirely (or move them somewhere else), restart your device (then there should be non of these icons anywhere in start menu) and then move them anywhere you want. It worked for me when i encountered this problem, so it's at least worth the try.. Good luck
not working, please help
i installed the cab and tried deleting icons on both the file explorer and on the windows mobile center on my pc. It is not working. The files are no longer there but the icons are, except now they are grey files, not the icons as before. Please somebody walk me through this step by step.
tom
I've also been told there isn't a way to get the original icons off the start menu that tmobile had on the phone when i got it, such as bn eReader, blockbuster, etc. I need help.

I have 4 duplicate shortcut icons in my start menu. They are htc music, footprints, people and calendar. They appeared after i installed then removed a cab file to extend number of icons in home screen from 9 to 16,
Can someone help me to remove them, many thanks. Also does anyone know where footprint images are stored, and is there a way to plot images taken with camera using GPS other than footprint
windows/start menu/programs
Create new folders, move icons around...hide some, and, yes, delete as well...
I have the same problem of having duplicate shortcuts. There are the originals which have the usual icons, and the duplicates do not have custom icons, just a blank icon.
The problem with just deleting it in windows/start menu/programs is that I do not know which is the one with the icon, and which is the duplicate.
I started by deleting HTC Twitter as I do not use Twitter and deleted the one with the icon, and do not want to repeat with the other shortcuts. After a reboot the HTC Twitter icons have returned.
Any suggestions?
If they are returning then just use your file explorer "i use Total Commander" to change the properties to hidden
stylez,
Thank you for the suggestion.
When I look at File Explorer on the mobile I can see two copies of the duplicated icons, when I look on File Explorer on my PC only one copy is visible.
I changed the attribute of HTC Twitter to 'hidden' and it is still visible on the phone.
Try using Total Commander on phone
Thank you for your reply.
Changing the attribute to 'hidden' on the phone makes no difference either!
What I have found to work is:
Hide Reappearing HTC Icons from Start Menu
If you delete the HTC shortcuts to Peep, People, Messaging etc and reset, they always come back. To hide these shortcuts for good (not the apps just the shortcuts) use the tweak below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable
Change to 0 and soft reset. You may need to change their shortcut's properties to hidden by accessing them in Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder.
Posted elsewhere on this forum, I am unable to link to it.
Then delete the shortcut and it does not return.
thank u so much for all ur tips...the last solution works
i looked everywhere but thank u for finally finding me a solution!!!
Hi everybody.
Just deleted my HTC Calendar icon from Windows/start menu/programs. But deleted the original instead of duplicate. Is there a way to recover it somehow ? Or replace it with a downloaded one ? The duplicate is working now but too ugly.
Thank you.

Good tips.
I connected my HTC HD2 to Win Mobile Device Center, and thru the activesync connection, i go to File Explorer on the PC to try to change the attribute to Hidden for those 4 duplicated shortcut files on HD2...but in my File Explorer i can't get Windows/Start menu/Programs folders to appear...I initially thought the whole folders were "hidden" so i have already set File Explorer in my Win7 PC to show all hidden files...but still not showing those 3 folders (Windows, Start menu, Programs), any idea why? Pls help and let me know.

Have just done the same with the HTC Footprints icon but haven't got a duplicate. The program is still there because Footprints is still available as a Home Screen Tab.
Does anyone know how to re create a shortcut on the start menu?
Thank you.

i've just got my HD2 and noticed this too, can't access my windows folder from my laptop!! - total commander it is... for now!
how about this "JSPA Program Manager v3.10"
will it be help ...
shortcut links still appearing after being moved
I'm having some issues with moving various shortcut links around...
I've used JSPA program manager to change my HD2 start menu screen (not the sense home screen). I've created a few new folders and moved various shortcut links into the folders to make the start menu screen less cluttered. However I've an issue, which I can't seem to resolve.
I've created a folder "Skyscape" and moved (or at least I thought I'd moved) 60 various Skyscape application shortcuts to the Skyscape folder. After closing JSPA down, and navigating to the start menu screen, all the skyscape shortcuts still appear. Checking the Skyscape folder I find all the links are there, though they appear in a random order - is there any program that can help organize links & folders into varying order i.e. alphabetically, creation date etc.
I've navigated using 'Total Commander' and 'Resco File Explorer' to My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs and I find that the various Skyscape applications links aren't there... and checking the My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs>Skyscape folder I find all the links as expected.
I've also checked HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable is set to '0' which it is... as detailed in hint 42> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Seems like something is amiss, almost like the start menu screen needs some kind of refresh...
Anyone got any helpful advice or hints as to how I can rid myself of the links on the start menu screen?
