A friend of my bought a new O2 XDA Zest. He found a problem. Everytime when he took off battery, the time/date all set to factory default. Even worse, all his calendar items went away as well. He would like to know if this is a design issue or just his phone's problem. Taking off battery is essential to him as he travel around world a lot and he has a few SIM card from different countries.
I'd say that was a hardware bug. Mine retains settings fine when you remove the battery.

Dirty touchscreen with oil
Hi Everyone!!!
Sorry about my English but i'm from Hungary and don't speak very well the english language.
My problem is i have a Xda Zest and the touchscreen dirty with oil and the touchscreen doesn't work. Only the touchscreen dirty with oil becouse i disassembled my phone and the screen is not dirty.
What could i do to fix this problem. If somebody could help please help me becouse i couldn't disassemble the touchfoil.

I have a new XDA IIS - ROM 1.31.00 WWE
I often find that the screen alignment is out, even though I have aligned it a few minutes before.
Started with a screen cover but took it off in case that was causeing the problem - no difference.
Any suggestions ?
There is a hardware problem in particular S/N series of Xda IIs that causes misalignment every second. You need to send for replacement at your distributor.

The story started before 1 week when happily i decided to buy a full housing spare parts for my omnia and hopefully it should looks like new...the package came and i opened my omnia to change the parts...the cover didnt fit 100% but with some small patents finally it fitted...the phone booted up and everything looked "ok"...the next day i realized that call quality was too low, sometimes call dropped(cause of the too low signal) and inside building i have no signal...
Now guys does anyone knows anything about that?

Greetings all. I'm not convinced my problem is specifically related to the One S, and I certainly haven't got anywhere near rooting yet, but you Guys are expert at nosing round in the bowels of this phone & the OS, and I'm getting totally flummoxed as to where I've gone wrong.
I've owned this phone since June and it was originally locked to O2, was unlocked and used on Giffgaff, an O2 offshoot - probably irrelevant. One of the apps I particularly wanted to use was Google Sky Map, duly installed and run successfully for a day or so. Other apps installed, as one does, but when I came back to Sky Map, the app was frozen, as were seemingly all compass function apps.
Various uninstalls & reinstalls later, a system reset and a factory reset and this function still was inactive. Returned to HTC for fixing. No better - all worked OK for a short while then stopped. Returned again and this time internals were swapped ,but now the microphone wouldn't work. Third return and an unlocked sim-free handset was returned.
As soon as I loaded my profile from Google, initially it worked, but later most of the sensors again seemed to fail. I've tried the full factory reboot then logged in with a totally new Gmail account, but no change. Phone Tester app shows only readings from proximity and light sensors - no gyroscope,compass, mag. field or accelerometer. Accelerometer did show one set of readings this morning, but nothing since. Lookout AV has always been installed. Incidentally, almost exactly the same profile worked perfectly well on my previous phone, a Wildfire S.
Should I shoot myself or the phone? I admit I'm not any sort of phone expert, but I don't think I'm that dense as to so consistently screw this thing up.
Any ideas people please, in (moderately) simple terminology?

Just in case one of the myriad readers of this thread should have just a quiver of interest ................. I believe I've found the answer.
It's always been difficult to pinpoint the problem, and certainly HTC haven't twigged what's happening, as before I sent the phone back to them I TOOK THE FLIP CASE OFF!
That's why it would work for a short while after return, until I replaced the case. I can only guess there's something like Carbon Black in the plastic back shell, and that's what's been interfering with the sensors.
It may also be relevant to the big Home Button problem, with the screen flipping between Home & Helicopter views. Has anyone investigated whether there could be sufficient signal degradation to trigger this problem caused by the use of a case?

I spoke to an HTC rep, and he said they would not give an unbranded handset back. If that's the case, I want my phone unbranded. I'll take it to them and hopefully get an unbranded one.
Well good for your HTC rep. They can't go giving out unbranded sets like that. What is the World coming to?
Notwithstanding - the previous clutter of O2 apps was pleasantly noticeable by its absence as was the O2 splash screen.
What a lucky little customer I am and it's only taken 4 months to sort out.
Hi guys, I always like to flash new roms to my phones, and I've never had a problem before. It happens now that, I flashed the Nexus5Experience Rom to my Moto G and everything was working good, then I tried to go back to stock, everything was working perfect but the vibrator, it just won't work, it randomly vibrates, tried to go back to the other ROM, factory reset and everything but, it wouldn't work. One thing I did I had never done before was switching the filesystem in TWRP.
When I say 'randomly vibrates' I mean it just vibrates sometimes, sometimes not. Vibrate on touch wont work, vibrate on keypress on Google Keyboard wont work, vibrate notifications won't work, even tried to amp up the vibration intensity, it doesn't do nothing.
I need your help, is this a kernel/firmware/rom problem or is it hardware and if it is, do you think it can be fixed without having to replace the phone? (Since I can't because I live in the Dominican Republic and I bought it from Amazon).

Had to replace my original after 4 months because of same problem. Worked intermittently as you're stating. It's most likely hardware not software related. Crude test: volume down to vibrate. If its not responding smack the side of the phone. If it starts working again 99% your problem is hardware. The way the vibrate motor looks to be soldered to the board not an easy do it yourself fix if you can even find a part online anywhere. Sorry you are unable to send in for repairs.

Aw it sucks I tried doing what you said and it does work when I smack it but then stops. I was planning on selling this one to buy the 2014 version, this may be a liability to do so.

No problem. Sorry about your luck. Someone who knows what they are doing can probably fix it for cheap or swap out the vibrate motor with a different one. Read one guy used a iPhone vibrator and it worked. They cost next to nothing online. Might be worth a shot.

So... Like the title said, i can´t draw a line on the display from my S7.
If i touch the blind point again it get a "point", so the touch works on this points. (don´t know how to explain it good).
On the picture you can see it perfectly.

Do you have any idea? Is it a software problem or maybe a hardware problem?
(One thing - i CAN´T delete the phone at the moment, so a full wipe wouldn´t be possible at the moment)

yes, it happens with both apps too....sooo....I have the feeling that the screen is broken.
So I just orderd (ordered? order?.....hmmm.......) a new display for the phone and I will try it with this one then.
Sry for bothering the xda with the problem - I will give feedback what the new screen will do.

Same problem
I have the same problem but only on the left border of the screen. To replace the screen it costs 180€ and I don't have the money. Does anyone know if I could fix it without replacing the screen?? Thanks!
