Changing Bootsequence - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I would like to develop software for my Kaiser that when the phone is powered it will only, and I mean only, send out a text message to a pre-programmed number. I would like to know how difficult this would be to implement and if you could link me to any guides of programming this. I am familiar with C, C++, and Java so hopefully tackling the programming language of the Kaiser would not be too cumbersome. I'm not asking for someone to do this for me, I'm just asking for help and assistance to where I would find documentation about the Windows Mobile Operating System to do so. Thank you.

maybe the simplest wayt woiuld be to put the program into autostart?
you'll still have a ptoblem with hard reset/flash though...

This is wrong section dude.

Could you possibly point me to the right section?

Cooking Help

Since all of you have made it so easy to understand the basics, I'm trying to cook!
I'm using the latest official Tilt ROM posted here, but I'd like to import the latest CE OS version from a different ROM. I don't even know if this is possible, but I figure someone would know how if it is.
If I extract the base ROM and the ROM with the target CE OS, how would I go about importing this OS into the Base ROM?
Someone at least tell me shut up Newb and read or point me in the direction I need to go. I've looked and the only thing I can find is some references to XIP being difficult to port.
Is this where the main operating system of the device is stored?
Anyone willing to help?

I think you just asked the single hardest question about cooking. The answer is there's no "simple" easy way to do it. Most of the files you're looking for will reside in the SYS\OS* folders. The really good news is that as long as you keep the OEM\OEMDrivers folder alone you can port pretty much anything you want from a similar device (Hermes, Polaris, Wizard, etc) and it should work on the Kaiser.
But it is *truly* a VERY slow process to port enough to make things work without porting so much you break it again. And when you have a ROM that won't even boot its a ROYAL PAIN to track down which of dozens of changes you might have made between compiles/flashes is causing the problem. In my experience it's usually something really simple like extra characters in initflashfiles.dat (from editing in Notepad), or some registry setting gone awry.
Anyway, good luck to you!

Question about Windows for IPAQ rx5720

Hello Guys,
im new to this forum and i like to read some threads here from timt 2 time.
And since i got my own pocket pc, i wondered if anybody could help me with a question.
The Windows Mobile Version of mine is a spanish one. And i would lik to have an english version of it. Is it somehow possible to install a language packet or to get another version of WM?
I hope you guys can help me with this. I know this isnt exactly a pocket-pc-forum, but maybe you know something.
Ill tried to search the web, but i got no result
Please help me, any answer would be very kind
Best regards
Just like Windows desktop OS's, you must reinstall the OS to change the language.
It's not an easy process if you are not familiar with your device. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a forum devoted to your device. You should find a lot of information there.
Hey N1c0_ds,
i thought i have to reinstall or flash a new rom/OS.
I can read as much as possible and i dont fear the work
And because im not very familiar with my pda, i think it will be some work to me....
Thanks for your advice... i guess you meant the Other "HTC manufactured phones" forums. Ill have a lokk at these

getting started in programing for WM6. pls advise

hi folks,
i love my phone and will like to contribute...
i studied years ago turbo pascal but i figured that programing languages basically have similar flows?
i will like to seek advise from pros on how do i get started?
can i
1) know what programing language or tools do i need?
2) know what are the usual errors or problems so that my climb will be easier?
i am really sincere and i hope the pros can take some time to advise me...
yours
leo
I would say, the easiest way to do some application pgrogramming, is to use the Visual Studio 2008(Tool) and C#(language). The platform is .Net framework 3.5.
You can download the latest Windows Mobile emulators, and use it along with Visual studio to test and debug your programs. Once you are satisfied with the program, you can build the cab using Visual Studio(which you can install on the real windows mobile device).
Please post specifics if you need more info. I am sure most of the poeple here are willing to help!
Please try the search function before posting even though this is the Q&A section
This question was just asked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452400
sorry bro . . .
its fine, just figured you might find a little information quicker there
ok specific Q can i rely solely on "WYSIWYG" interface? rather than hardcode like C etc?
Nope. Solely WYSIWYG won't get you anywhere.
But you can use it. For example the CompactFramework.Net (CF.Net) has a WYSIWYG interface, but the underlying functionality you'll have to write yourself.
If that is what you meant...

Requesting Info for Foraying into Smart Device Development

Howdy..
I've been a bit of a PC Programmer for a long time, and I'm wanting to get into creating applications for windows mobile (6.1 preferrably).
I've been looking and looking and have been getting quite a lot of conflicting views and suggestions.
I'm asking if anyone knows exactly what they're on about with creating applications (I'm thinking VB 2k8 with .net compact framework - though I'm not sure there's any other?)
If they could give me pointers on how to get started, or maybe a walkthrough (minus the actual programming) of what programs to use, how to compile and test..
My mental image of what I'm looking for is similar to how you used to do it with Visual Basic (6 is the last one I messed with) where you publish the program to an exe file? But yeah...
Any info is MUCH appreciated.
mod edit: Thread moved
Ah sorry mate, I thought that post was in the bounds of instigating a development discussion.
Would you be please able to then move this topic to the correct thread?
There are other programs out there to write software for ppc, but that is one of the best.
You will need the wm6 sdk to develope programs for wm 6.
Here is a link on developer resources so you can get a complete overview

Dual Boot

So I was thinking of having Froyo installed on my HD2 but have a few questions that maybe someone here can answer. Currently I have stock tmo and anastasia skins for different programs. My questions are:
What does dual boot mean?
Will I lose winmo completely?
Will I be losing my skins?
Can I swap between Operating systems? And if so how?
I hope someone can help me with this before I have anything installed. If anyone has froyo and can incude screenshos that would be great too.

You don't have to be that harsh on somebody asking something that isn't 100 described into detail...

If I may suggest, you could better post your questions in the HD2 ROM Development section of this forum.
But it would be even better if you post at either HD2 Android Development General or the HD2 Q&A subsections...
And to answer your questions (as far as I know (I don't use Android))
- dual boot means you have a choice at start-up to boot into windows, or directly boot to Android
- you won't loose Windows completely, as Windows is needed to start the programs to get Android running. (so until we have a stand-alone Android ROM for HD2, you will have some kind/build of Windows
- skins/themes applied to windows/Sense should remain
The last part I really don't know if it can, or how
(if someone knows more about this, and is willing to share, give it a shot )

Thank You for your help. As for the other response, no worries I know that some people are smarter than others in these topics but the time it took him to open the thread and write "use the search function" couldve been used to either say "I dont know" or answer the questions? Mods please consider this issue solved and close thread.
