I have no idea what causes the problem
because I've exchanged to new g1
should I change the sim card too?

I have a HTC Sensation XE on Orange UK which is not rooted.
Since I've upgraded the phone from Android 2 to 4.0.3, I've been having an intermittent problem with the signal. On a daily basis, I will lose phone signal completely and quite often, the only way to get the phone signal back is to either turn it on and off Airplane Mode or Restart the phone. Sometimes this will return the phone signal, but sometimes it will remain with no phone signal and sometimes, it comes up with an error saying that I don't have a Sim Card in the phone. Eventually, I do get back the phone signal back but I have to leave it alone for about 10-15 minutes if it gets into the "No Sim Card" loop, otherwise everytime I restart it or put it into Airplane Mode, it comes back with No Sim Card.
This normally happens when I'm using the phone, but has happened when I've had my phone in the pocket. It happens in weak and strong signal areas. It's very random. Factory Reset will often have no affect and it's happened when I've had lots of Apps installed, and when I've only had the Factory Apps installed.
I've sent it back to HTC 3 times. They've returned it with re-installing the software. It works again for about 3-5 days, then the problem starts again.
I keep thinking it's an issue with the Sim Card, but the Sim Card works fine in other phones with no issues of signal. I've tried other Orange Sim cards in the phone and they seem to work, but I've never left it long enough to see if the signal crashes. I've spoken to Orange but they say there's nothing wrong with the Sim Card as it works in other phones.
I've looked all over the internet for a resolution. Seen many people having the issue, but unable to come up with a resolution. I'm a little unsure what to do. Anyone having a similar problem, or any ideas what to do next?
Hi !
My Htc one S sometimes show the advice that indicate that there is no SIM inserted, even if the sim is there and even if the phone is already power on, it shows the message after some times it's on. Any suggest?
Have you tried a different SIM card? Could be something wrong with the card. Also make sure all the contacts on the SIM and phone are clean.
If it still doesn't work then looks like you'll have to go back to HTC.
My SIM didnt work in my S when I got it.
After some googling it seemed quite common on the X.
The general answer was "get a new SIM". I got a new SIM and it solved my problem at least.
If a new SIM doesnt work, it might be a hardware issue with your device and you should probably return it.
actually I just have one micro SIM and I cannot try a switch. Also in order to try I would need to take the other sim for long time because this happen with a low frequency..
Get it exchanged from your carrier. Shouldnt cost much, if anything at all (Telia here in sweden didnt charge anything at least).
Two months ago my Nexus 5 would start randomly losing signal or say that there was no sim card inserted. After a few reboots it would recognize the sim and let me use it normally, but when the device gets turned off and turned back on again there would be no signal.
More recently my Nexus 5 just says no sim card inserted but when reinserted it gets detected with no signal. Is there anyway i can fix this issue as i got signal yesterday but sadly restarted my phone because of a graphical issue and i lost the signal again. I have also done a factor reset and re-flashed android. Any help would be useful!
(Yes i have tried other sims and same problems)
Current Network: iD
Other Networks Tried: O2,Orange,T-Mobile.
Since the phone behaves the same way with different SIM cards, it could be a hardware failure with the SIM card reader.

Click to collapse
But sometimes it will detect the sim and give me a signal and if i restart the phone it will not detect it again. If it was something wrong with the sim reader wouldn't it just not work at all?
Not necessarily because it should always detect the presence of a SIM card, active or not.
Most likely, there's a bad solder joint somewhere, it would work after a few restarts because the metal would expand as the phone heated up and make contact again. You could try to bake the logic board, might fix it. But, realistically, it's a long shot.

Hello guys. I remake phone to work with 3G (solder sim slot in service just like in guide wrote) But now my phone sometimes (2-3 times in day) is missing SIM card. After reboot the SIM is working fine, but in few hours SIM is missing again and reboot needed. I know that the same problem was with another phone another man (i found out it on russian forums about Photon). Any suggestions? Can somebody help me?
I had the same problem. for me it was just the case. there was not enough space for the sim so it get pressed all the time down on the side
and the other side was coming up. that was making problem with the contacts of the sim reader.
Yea, I would think a loose wire/solder or some clearance issue with the SIM slot...
Hey Everyone,
I have an XT1540 they I am having trouble with, well the SIM in particular. The issue is that It will not recognize any SIM when it is inserted; the phone has to be restarted in order to be recognized. Not a major problem to be honest but more of an annoyance then anything else. I also have an unlocked XT1032 that recognizes any sim put into it no restarting required. Is there any way to get my G3 to recognize my SIM without having to reset my phone each time? Thanks in advance!
This is quite common with smartphones I guess. Sometimes switching on and off the airplane mode helps recognising the SIM card. If it doesn't work, reboot is the only thing :/
