I just flashed my stock ADP1 first to JF1.30 and then to JF1.43 with the radio firmware also.
I have voice search, and amazon store, but no latitude anywhere...even though I'm running Maps 3.0
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey guys, I just installed the new Orkut app just to see what it's all about (just signed up for Orkut... morbid curiousity) and it says I should check my data connection and then load the app again.
Every time.
Anyone else had this problem?
I'm running DamageControl 1.0. Thinking of trying this out with another ROM to see if it's a problem with the Eris frameworks.
It's a known problem with the 2.1 roms, in most of them apps like Orkut and Bank of America online don't work. The only rom that I know it works on is Darchlegend v4

Here is the new Google Maps 5.0 apk for the ones that cannot update it.
Push it via ADB.
I have the streetmap available as well dunno if it was updated in the 5.0 though.
It is taken from a Samsung Galaxy S so the devices that are not compatible with new 3D View and new stuff may not work.
To be Confirmed.
Don't forget to backup your apk before trying to push via ADB.
EDIT : I've re-extracted it from my device, this time with Titanium Backup, and I guarantee this is 5.0
It looks like Google Maps 4.5.0 and Street View 1.6.0.6...
I Tried this with no luck
Fixed
Only available for those devices :
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1079043
You probably need to add G2 / Desire Z + HD to this list though.
And it seems there is no need to update streetview as it is still 1.6.0.6 after the update.

Yeah, for the ones who cannot update it.
Like everybody on Cyanogen Mod usually cannot update their system apps like GMaps.
with maps5 is possible to cache all country maps on cache ? or only the already navigated roadmaps?

IT WORKS!
On my Nexus One w Cyanogen works fine, the compass like a charm... and it installs fine withoot problems.
Works fine @desire2.2
3D and compass works great, unable to rotate.
Is there a way to update this via SideLoading? I tried (via Sideload Wonder Machine) and got the error message "INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS." Any tips, suggestions would be appreciated!
What's the deal with the rotate not working?
Droid X - 3d rotate works
Nexus - rotate doesn't work
Archos A70 - rotate doesn't work
Everything works but rotate on my Nexus...
Updated via Market on HTC Inc. running Cyanogen 6.1 and everything works but rotate. According to Google, rotate is supported on the Incredible. Anyone know what might be the issue?
Rotate on droid works. But it doesn't work on my milestone. Im running got telus froyo. Any ideas?

simply installed it on Desire. works fine. thanks!
i wasn't able to find it any other way...
For this to install you need a rooted device?
It will replace the maps that I have it installed on Htc Desire?
Can I install simply by transfering the file to memory card and then install?
Thanks
you can use "adb install -r com.google.android.apps.maps-2.apk"
to install it
I noticed that there are new version of google maps 5.7.0 & gmail 2.3.5.
I don't know why I cannot update them on my Xoom. My Xoom is on 3.2 Tiamat ROM.
Can somebody help me to update it ?
Thanks
You need to be root. Follow this post for Maps Update.

No root, 3.1 3g xoom
Gmail on the market isn't compatible with my xoom. What up with that?

My xoom has already got rooted . I've also already tried the method. The problem is I cannot find any googlemaps in the market.
The GMail on the market is for anything up to Android 2.3.4 only since your Xoom has Gmail 3.2 which is newer than 2.3.4, remember 3.2 is a higher version #, Honeycomb 3.1 comes with Gmail 3.1.

Is there anyway to find out the version of gmail in xoom? When I check in setting>about, there is no statement about the version.

Version code, not the user-oriented VersionName is used by the market to determine newer APK. They must be Max SDK filtering. Its actually listed as incompatible on honeycomb.

Manage Applications in Settings or Titanium Backup will show it. Honeycomb 3.1 comes with Gmail 3.1 and Honeycomb 3.2 comes with Gmail 3.2, both are 3.x while the market version is 2.x.
I have a completely stock US WIFI only Xoom and Maps updated to 5.8.0 automatically.
I have posted a couple methods for updating Maps in the Tiamat rom thread

Which Tiamat ROM are you using? Manta Ray states that not being able to update maps is a known issue that is being worked on. Looked under the "Release Notes" section on the first post here:

Hi,
I just installed the 4.2.1 rom from aokp but I can not find out how to download any apps. There is no marketplace or google play app. Do I have to find the .apk and download it manually? If so do I need a special version for 4.2.1?
Thanks
Download and flash Google Apps. Goggle "gapps" and download the version for your ROM.
As previously mentioned you need to download the latest version of Google apps for ROMs based on Android 4.2.1 (Such as the latest version of AOKP) and flash the zip package in recovery. Google apps compatible with Android 4.2.1 can be found here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.

Thanks a bunch. I must have downloaded the wrong one before. Thanks for the links, that did the trick.
Wow, you all are really quick with the answers. Kudos.
Course, now bluetooth seems broken. It seems to be a a2dp issue. I'll post again with a different title but basically when I tried to listen to music/podcasts it is fine for like 3 seconds then turns really staticy and garbled. I heard the latest nightly from 13-01-28 addressed this so I flashed that which is definitely better but the voices seem off like they are speaking at 80% speed. Weird.
Thanks again you all rock!
A suggestion for you is to get Goo manager. Some of the devs have the gapps right there when you select the rom version for download, Lets you download them together. It'll help you get the right gapps for the rom your looking to use.
Hi,
I´m on the SVHD Rom but still didn´t get the google maps v7.xx update or the new whatsapp update.
Is this only because I use a ICS Rom?
JB Roms aren´t an option due to Hitachi-panel

You won't get Google Maps v 7.XX update, it's JB only.
Not sure about WhatsApp.

In the playstore description it´s written that it will be rolled out for android 4.0.3 and above. But I´m wondering how long this "roll-out-wafe" takes.
Well, while writing the op, I got the whatsapp update

I was also wondering that 4.0.3 thing, but in the article about maps v 7.0 on android police, the .apk-s for 4.1 and 4.2 were included that's why I though it would be Jelly Bean only. If it's also for ICS, then, I'm happy.
Well today the google maps update arrived
