Hey all,
Checkout this site I have been using, you can download several rintones or make your own for free.
http://audiko.net/
This is the one I use on my phone.. http://audiko.net/ringtone/mobb+deep/quiet+storm+instrumental/822822/en.html
1) right click where its says: "Download mp3 ringtone on desktop"
2) Select "Save Targert As" onto your destop or wherever you desire and there you go..
Haven't downloaded a song yet but the website appears to be very good. I use a program called mp3Trim to achieve the same result, but if you are struggling for insipiration then that website is great!
Thanks for sharing! great site.
cellsea.com is great.
Ringtones, wallpapers, and more.
And it's all FREE!

hi i am using windows 5 on an xda orbit device - i have collected some cool sounds i would like to be used as text notification sounds but i have no idea where to place them so that they can be utilised for this purpose.... could anyone tell me the format of sounds required and where on the device i need to place them.
thanks in advance
Anything Windows Media Player can open you can use.
Put them in the Windows folder and they will show up in the drop down menu. Rings should go in the rings folder.
Put them in the Windows folder and they will show up in the drop down menu
hi thanks to both of you for your input - when i do as you suggest the sound i wish to use still doesnt appear in the drop down menu and so i cant select it.
- this is the method i used -
"on the orbit" - file explorer -my device-windows - "paste sound file" then exit.
then i go to - sounds and notifications, notifications, event - messaging new text message - then drop down options menu but no sign of the file !!!!
am i not doing things correctly ? any further tips or instructions would be very welcome.
thanks in advance

That isn't quite true, for sms sounds you can only use wav files in WM5.
many thanks Xeno1 and all who contributed
exactly as you said i converted the mp3 file into a wav file using Easy CD-DA Extractor dropped it into the windows root folder and like magic the file was present in the selection drop down box ........ very happy now thanks to you all .
Hey all, got a question. I searched the boards for this but wasn't able to find an answer that worked.
I know you guys aren't using the lame sounds that came with the phone, so I gotta know--what's the trick? We've got an mp3 trimmer app that would work great, if anything other than phone calls worked with it. How do I get my mp3s to work as notification tones? Do I need to convert to .wav? If so, what's a good app to use, preferably on the phone itself?

nope MP3 is just fine but u need to "CUT" the file from were ever u have it and go to "MY DEVICE IN FILE EXPLORER" and hit "application Data" then "SOUNDS" and then hit paste!
and then goto into settings and hit "Sounds&Notifacations" then hit notifacation sounds and when it loads scroll to "incoming Text" and pic your MP3 File!
hope you understood that
they have to be small files, but they can be .mp3s i would think at least smaller than 200kb
edit the file with mp3 trimmer or you will need a wav/mp3 file editor like 'cool edit'.
put the files in this directory to have them appear in the settings - sounds -notifications - new text message:
application data\Sounds\
Works like a champ, guys.
Cheers!
theres no way to have it rotate through a few is there?
I'm wondering what app ppl are using to download mp3's on theory android devices. I've been using gtunes but am starting to see it not finding mainstream music. Also not thrilled with its permissions.
What's the best app for downloading free music?

Any input would be great, Thx

I doubt you will get too much help with that here, seeing as most of those apps are legally questionable... not sure that helps

Thanks, i used to use that too. I have been using gtunes but i think more often than not it doesnt find what im looking for, which is mainstream. I have since downloaded "Free Music Download" (orange icon white headphones as the icon) and it works better.
I've discovered a method of using the web browser xscope to download the music files via mediafire or megupload. In Google type, site:mediafire.com (artist name) (album name). Packages usually come in the form of .zip or .rar files but also as .Mp3 for single files. Pick the link of the files you want and allow it to finish downloading. You will need a .zip and/.rar expander to reveal the .Mp3 files in the album. I use the app, android zip.UnzipLite and unrar, both found in the market. You will need to navagate your SD card to find the files located in the xscope download folder with one of the two applications. Place files into the media/audio folder on your SD. I hope you guys try this out it works quite well for me and never really have to worry about syncing to get a new album on my phone.

Sorry currently not. But this feature is scheduled on the next release to support. Normally we will deliver a new release to our users on every weekend.
Getting better and better.
I discover File Expert couple of months ago. By far my favorite. I don't even look for an alternative by now.
Great job guys.

Okay guys, I'm going to give a testimony.
I've used Astro, ES, Linda and then this. This is a COMPLETE package. I love how I can grab some files from my laptop wirelessly, have root access, and have a beautiful file manager all at once. This has been the best file manager I've ever used, and I highly recommend it.
ES gone now...

Hi,
thank you for recommending FE! We think it's time to change, Astro and ES are good app but we think we can provide more useful and powerful alternative.
Amazing app, I switched a couple weeks ago. I put in feature requests on your forum, mainly for a refresh button for the toolbar.
Some other things that would be nice:
more archive support (7z for example)
And the 'download any file from the browser's feature astro has.
I use FE primarily, but because it lacks 7z support and the browser download feature I am forced to keep two other file managers handy.
Anyway this app is still superior to all other file managers, keep up the good work!
This is a really cool app. One request:
Option to show Toolbar only when at least one item is checked, or by pressing Menu while at least one item is checked.
Also, for some reason it takes a while (around 1 full second) for the Operation menu to show after I click on the button. Should it take this long?
I'm totally trying it!!!! As soon as I get home

Hi,
thank you for suggestions..
7zip support is already on the schedule
Can you please describe what is the ability to "download any files from browser"? What do you mean when you talk about this feature?
Thanks

No, it's not. I have tested the popup speed when touching the Oper button on various phones and tablets, all of them shows the menu immediately. I cannot feel any delay.
What's your phone?

My phone and more information is in my signature. See below. I avoided the problem by putting the cut, copy, and delete functions as buttons in the toolbar instead.

Hello, I want to download some mp3 to my Note PRO. On my laptop, I visited: http://www.stafaband.info/download/mp3/lagu_ost_swallow_the_sun_drama_korea/
There is a list of about10 songs with links to download
However, when I typed the same URL on my Note PRO, the URL was automatically changed to:
http://m.stafaband.info/download/mp3/lagu_ost_swallow_the_sun_drama_korea/
- Anybody knows the reason?
- Instead of having a list of about 10 mp3, only four are listed. Do you know what is going on?
- I clicked the first one: "Swallow The Sun Drama Ost mp3". Then, clicked "Download Link" on the linked page. Rather than downloading the file, a multi-window showed up to play the song. I can save the file. Could you please tell me how? Can I also specify the save location?
Thanks.
- Hit the options in the browser --> Show desktop version. Then delete the M in front of the url.
No, you can't set a download location. It automatically downloads into the Downloads folder.
Thank you. Where is the "options" in the browser?
So, after downloading the mp3 to the Downloads folder, I just use Astro to move to any folder I want. Am I correct?

Top right, the three vertical dots next to the URL bar. If the browser hides it, long-press the left softkey (recent apps).
Yep, after it's finished downloading (check the notification) you can use any file explorer to move it to the desired folder.
