GPS navigation software/streetmaps for Mexico - General Topics

Hi!
I am living in Mexico and especially as a foreigner it is very easy to get lost here.
So I am looking for a GPS navigation software for my new HTC Touch HD with street level maps for Puebla and other major cities in this country. Buying a seperate device just for GPS (like from Garmin) is not an option.
I did some web search with very confusing results. One product I found was Garming XT which is a no go for me since - as far as I understood - it only works with the provided SD card and I do not want to touch the battery cover every time I need swich the card for running the application.
Destinator 7 seems to have a new 2008 streetmap of Mexico but I have not found a store where to buy it - just some crappy mexican internet sites which don't look very professional and trustworty. There are also some reports of a version 8 of the software but no place to buy it.
It's unbelieveable but Mexico seems to be one of the last white spots on earth regarding GPS street level maps.
Can somebody who has more experience with this GPS stuff help me out with ideas, suggestions and/or probably links to serious stores, please?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I can't help out, but I'm looking for similar for our trip across Mexico at the end of this year.
Tomtom have just released their MExico Map
XT does have the provision to show (MapQuest?) maps of Mexico, but you can buy it as a download (I'm sure.)
If you find anything else, let me know!
Buena Suerte!

GPS For WinMo 6.1/6.5

I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. I am told the GPS is unlocked .. and I thought this would be the challenge to adding GPS to this device. I checked into Garmin Mobile XT and TomTom Navigator 6.
I took a chance on TomTom Navigator 6, as it was only $25 from Amazon .. Well I got what I paid for, it does not even install to the device! The installer hangs very early on.
I would have preferred the Garmin Mobile Xt, except for the fact you cannot use your own memory card. I am also told a new version of Garmin Mobile Xt is coming, and Garmin does not do upgrades well, so I should wait for the new version.
So ... is there anything else out there that is worth trying? I considered Mobium, but I want to buy something outright, not pay a monthly fee.
Just Wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
waze
Waze is the best nav program that i have found and gives spoken word directions
think tomtom7 is required

GPS software for Mexico

Hi I would like to have a GPS software for my HTC HD2, because the one in there (CoPilot 8) doesn´t have maps for Mexico, If anyone have a suggestion please tell me what you think is the bes GPS sw for this device that includes México
Thank you
Try iGO8 or iGO Amigo, I have tried both when I was visiting my girlfriend in Mexico, and the available maps were pretty good.
Thank you I will try that
By the way, she tells me that there are no HTC devices sold in mexico, most people have never even heard of the brand there. How come you've got an hd2 when you're in mexico?
Use Destinator

Hi friend, i'm mexican boy. The best software for GPS in Mexico is Destinator. Find it in Google, the last versión is 8 whit maps from second semester 2009.
Other Software is Garmin, is really great.
Hey, how much the HD2, and where do you buy it?
I bought it in eBay unlocked, and using it with Telcel, even in EDGE it's working great.
I am trying IGO8 and is very good, but I will try the others to see how much info they have of Monterrey
thx
Try Garmin, I use it when I go down there, it works very good, it was also recently upgraded.

Hi to all. Im the proud owner of an Htc evo Fully rooted and also a treo pro both on sprint network. Welcome to forums
Right, CDMA phones are only used in US and a few Latin American countries, the rest of the world uses GSM.
Some of CDMA devices have also the chance to insert a normal SIM card, not sure if your devices can...
If not I guess that link will save you from being connected while traveling on GSM world.

[Q] Hello I am looking for a store in America that I can purchase a smartphone

Hello I am looking for a store in America that I can purchase a huawei ascend p1 simfree
Why not google it? You will get precise answer with precise location to the store.
Why not use online shopping brother?
America's a really big place, even just North America or even just the United States thereof - even that last one is a really, really big place.
It'd be best to do a bit of Google searching based on where in the whole of America you're going to be, or just buy on-line - that way you don't need to be wandering all over when it's possible no one near you will be selling that exact model.

[Completed] [Q] Need Tablet/Phone recomendations!

I need a Phablet or Tablet or Phone that is at least 8" running the most up to date Android possible.
I have made a couple of expensive mistakes in purchasing 4G/LTE tablets that I thought could be used as a phone also.
The latest being the Nvidia Shield. Got one for sale. never used!
I know I can run VOIP on LTE tablets but that isn't what I'm looking for.
I live in Canada and I travel to the USA almost daily. I drive a transport truck and I NEED up to date traffic info so I don't get stuck in 4 hour traffic jams BUT I also need to text and phone back to Canada. Currently I am using the new PadFone S. Great idea but it doesn't receive on the ONE frequency I need to be able to get a continent wide carrier plan that won't put me in the poor house. I currently have Bell Mobility and a T-Mobile sim I have to change every time I cross the border.
Wind Mobile has an unlimited Talk Text Data plan for Canada/USA that is $60 a month. That hits my sweet spot. Currently the other 2 plans are costing me $115. Wind in Canada needs to run on the 1700 band for now. It may change in the future but I can't wait.
My searching is getting me a lot of results but a lot of time I see the tablets do not allow the phone function or are dated 2 years ago.
Maybe I'm spoilt but my TF101 is running Lollipop and I love it.
Soooo I'm turning to learned friends. I Like to play around with anything I own be it cars or electronics but I don`t have the time at a desk to research this more.
Any ideas?

Thank you.
I have seen that thread and went through it but none of the answers actual fit my needs. Lots of different phones but no specifics and I`d have to research each one again.
I`m hoping someone who reads my OP will go " I know exactly what he needs" There can`t be too many of them.
As an aside, Why are all the LTE tablets Data only? Is there a big difference in the hardware required to offer Voice too? Or is it just the Firmware?
You can ask in the thread. That's what it's for.
This isn't the place for such discussion. ?
