Oz Instant IM for Tmobile w/MSN - General Topics

Hi there, I have been looking to find a version of OZ that will work with my 8525 on T-Mobile USA, but also that has MSN instead of ICQ. Some things of note:
I know Oz uses SMS, this unfortunately fits my needs.
I have found a signed Oz.cab for tmobile but it has ICQ in place of MSN, and I need MSN.
I have seen other requests for this information but they all seem to be archived.
Some of these threads mention Signed_Move_IM_Link.sa.CAB in conjuction with the signed oz cab.. they dont say what it is or what it does, and none of the links for this file or the extended rom it came from seem to be valid.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
ALSO! if you have any insights on a beter *SMS* type instant message program that has AIM, MSN and perhaps maybe Gtalk, that also could help

Problem with OZ Messenger
Here is my case. I uses an unlocked T-Mobile Dash aka HTC S620. I formated and installed the HTC Rom + upgraded to WM6. I am using AT&T Sim for it. I found the OZ Messenger for T-Mobile @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2002338&postcount=16
It is the one I wanted because it uses SMS and I don't have a data plan. The problem is I am getting this error as Text Messages: 4670 Error Invaild Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number. Does anyone have a clue to what that is? Is there a setting I have to set. So, I can use the T-Mobile OZ Messenger (SMS based) on my AT&T sim. If anyone know any other SMS based AIM+MSN messenger for WM6, please reply/PM me back.
Thanks.
My guess is that it does not work with att. I am not sure, but iirc this needs something on the carrier's end to make it work.
I was looking for an OZmessenger for my t-mobile dash for T-mobile NOT att. The one floating around the xda forums doesn't seem to work for me, I get the same message as you.
I ran into a oz messenger from ATT though, try this out...

I have unlimited SMS with T-Mobile. If I use the OZ, and I'm IMing with a friend who's outside the US, will it send an international SMS, or is it a domestic SMS to the servers (and thus free)?
Can anyone tell me how to use this cab file for my blackberry curve? Thanks in advance...

Looking for SMS over Voip software

Hi,
I'm looking for a software for my HTC S730 which enables me to send SMS via my Voip account from the Internet.
I found http://www.smsoip.be/ but it doesn't work on my HTC S730.
Please help me.
Thanks a lot!!!
Anyone???
There must but some software for SMS over Voip for Smartphone.... right??
sms software
do a search on fring, great bit of voip software. good for voip sms, sips, etc, using it on my spv m3100 with sipgates.co.uk sips account
Are you sure fring is also for voipsms? I dont think so...
thanks
please, anyone?? i want voipsms software for WM standard
WTF
cmon ppl!!!!!!!
hoping for the same thing, you would think there should exist a small app, but apparently there isn't...hopefully someone gets inspired and makes one
Humm.. SMS over VoIP? Is it possible? VoIP would need to provide an SMS gateway; which a phone carrier wouldn't...
How about an alternate solution? Email to SMS/SMS to Email gateways, specifically because they exist? If you find a way to send SMS over the telephone system, let me know.
[edit]
I was being to cocky. Looks like Skype provides; but read that wikipedia article anyway.
[edit2]
There are some web sites that will send SMS (that would be, other than the carriers themselves)... I just found CallWave.

yea there are website, but its real annoying to open a browser, type the address in, and then type the message. there are programs that do what we're asking so its not impossible, they're just tailored for the pocketpc (SMSoIP, IPSMS to name a few)
yea thats right... so voipsms is popular. but no app for SP yet!!

ya, it blows my mind too, lol unless there is and ppl aren't sharing
lol i'm guessing its not possible.... i ran into a program called fring which i think does allow you to do this, but just curious if we can do this without a 3rd party app
NO and NO! FRING does not allow you to do SMS via VOIP.
Im just really surprised by the lack of interest in this topic.
Do you people even know what SMS via VOIP means? It means FREE SMS TO ALL COUNTRIES WITH YOUR NUMBER AS SENDER (e.g. with VOIPBUSTER)

someone suggested
gsm.voipbuster.com and download the java software.
any other ideas=??

Need MMS for Motorola Q-Please help

This is my first post here and this forum seems to be really great and informative. I have a Motorola Q with Sprint and this phone is unable to do Sprint picture mail feature and I think that is so absurd. Pocket PC users were able to do a customized MMS client for their phones and now have the feature to send picture mail and I would love to get something going like that for smartphones but the problem is I can't find a copy for an MMS client made for smartphones that will work and I really have been searching high and low and have found different smartphone copies of an MMS client but none work and its so frustrating and I just really need some help. I was told that I need a generic copy of ArcSoft 4.0.xxxxx or something taken from a Blackjack 1/2 or 5800. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

Does MSN Live Messenger use internet or SMS?

Greetings,
When I purchased my ADP1 for here in Australia I was disappointed at first that the IM client did not come with MSN/Windows Live Messenger like it's T-Mobile G1 bretheren. But I was less upset when I read that the MSN client actually sends SMS's instead of using the internet. Unfortunately I can't find any post confirming/denying this!?
Can someone please confirm this if it is true? Because the JFv1.41 with RC33 installed on my ADP1 has it available under IM, and although somewhat slow to load up (I do have many contacts) it looks/feels as though its on the internet... I am still paranoid I will end up with a bill for thousands of dollars due to SMS's overseas to T-Mobile.
Cheers
Leon
PS. And for that matter can someone also confirm AIM and Yahoo! is not sending via SMS but rather internet? It may seem silly, but peace of mind for many I'm sure.
- bump -
here is the answer...
from how I get charged, i honestly can see that it is BOTH text message and data because u need data/internet to access those messenger services and each message u enter in msn live or aim counts as a text message.
thankfully for me, i have family unlimited texting and internet/data plan for my phone... but those messenger usually lags unless u are on 3G or some better connection.
Is that for RC30 and RC8 or just RC30? I thought it just used data.

The Y! and AIM apps have always been through SMS on TMo builds for all of their phones. I've heard conflicting reports about MSN though but I would put money on the bulk of it being through SMS. Honestly though, IM through SMS is terrible and has been for years. It's laggy, never up to date and loves to double and triple sends messages. It's the price you pay for not having a data plan.
I know palringo is working on a android app. it is in beta now, they use data only.

Joking aside they do have a solid product but at this point I'm just tired of waiting indefinitely. Although, as a G1 owner I should be used to this by now.
Who cares, you should have unlimited data and messaging when using the G1 anyways.

Do you know anything about Australian cellular providers or the OP? No? I didn't think so. If you have nothing to add then move on without brain vomiting on the Post button.
Do I get that right: Every IM messenger from market sends out sms instead of data messages as it normally should? So Hello AIM, Membo IM etc. too?
no the g1 built in IM program uses SMS. Hello AIM uses the internet connection.
Oh, thank god. I was confused by this "The Y! and AIM apps have always been through SMS on TMo builds for all of their phones"....
Thx!

with the g1 plan you get unlimited data, and I think 400 messaging. Or people like myself who dont use the g1 plan have unlimited data, and no messaging but still use t-mobile.
I'm on JF 1.41 RC8 and I just used my prepaid sim in my G1 and chatted on msn for a bit then sent 1 text messages afterwards.
It only deducted the credit for my 1 sms afterwards so I'm fairly confident the IM app (at least Live Messenger) just uses data.
You can use all messengers (aol, icq, msn etc) through standard gtalk application. Just configure jabber transport from other network to gtalk server. Instructions can be googled easily (here an example: http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/general-other-im-news/33739-connect-google-talk-aim-msn-yahoo.html)
Live Messenger Problem
Running the latest JesusFreke RC8 update, with the extra IM clients built into it, and I am receiving the following error when I try to sign into Live Messenger:
Unable to sign into the MSN service. Please try again later.
(Detail: Sorry, the phone number cannot be read from your sim card. Please contact your operator for help).
I have the phone on a T-Mobile contract, and I ported my number over from another network when I got the phone.
Any ideas on what could cause this problem?
Someone on another forum said they could only get live messenger to work while on wifi. Dont know if that helps.
Are you using the stock im apps? They use sms texts to send not data. This might be the problem you are having.
Yes, I am using the stock IM apps. Are there better alternatives?

msn=sms?

Hi all, i was on the phone with t-mo today and the girl told me that the msn\live messenger messages that i send and recieve uses SMSes and not internet.
is that true or was she plain stupid?
i've researched this online and coudlnt get a conclusive answer so i thouhgt i'd ask you guys since some of you have prolly seen the code itself and can answer me correctly and easily...
so which is it - internet or texts?
--
still looking for developers for my project at http://code.google.com/p/bestcardgameever-android/
E.
From what I understand, the IM app is counted towards text messages, this means, google, MSN, Yahoo, AOL messages within the stock IM app is text messages.
I think GTalk use the Internet (wifi/3g or whatever data connection you're on) while other "chat" services use SMS.
But now there's free Hi MSN in the Market (and Meebo has been for quite some time) when you want to use MSN "for real".
/Mats
GTalk will works over the internet, either via 3G or WiFi.
All other protocols will only use WiFi over the internet - any conversations via a cellular network will be via SMS and not over 3G/GPRS.
Regards,
Dave
wow!
that's absurd!
nobody said anything about it either!
why did they do that?!
The crap? That sounds like the stupidest thing ever. Leave it to a cell carrier to come up with a stupid idea like that. Just use Hi MSN or Hi AIM.
The carrier makes money on the text messages, Google gets GTalk usage - and he consumer is - as always - screwed. "Business plan" is another word for the phenomenon...
(Don't get me wrong -I love most of Google's stuff, even GTalk - but as virtually no one else use GTalk, it's pretty useless to me...)
/Mats
