Skype beta lite without gsm network - General Topics

can the option call of "skype beta lite" for symbian work without using a GSM mobile as skype beta for windows mobile ?
personally, I download on a N72, but I did not even call the icon, and in the section of the help it says that "skype" is not yet available in your country? I think I should send the link by sms to someone who is in the country where it already exists, and ask him to send it to me via the Internet? so I call the icon, but I do not know if it will work? and if I could use the call without GSM network !
what do you think?

IS Free SMS possible ?

Hi
I am a T mobile USA costumer, I am using the latest NBD 8.3 Rom. I saw a program called SMS service and under it i saw send SMS using GPRS. If i enable it can i send free SMS using Tzones. Since I dont have Tzones can anybody in this Forum who has Tzones try this and give me a reply.
Actually, if you're able to access the internet through GPRS, anyone can send free sms's, it doesn't matter if you're on t-zones or not. All you have to do is put this link - http://sites.mobile.yahoo.com/sms/sendsms in ie and you can send and recieve all the free sms's you want over GPRS.
US only?
This only seems to work for US numbers ?
u can only send but u cannot receive on yahoo SMS, did any body try the option i said before?
I don't have NBD 8.3 since I cook my own ROMs and I can't seem to find a copy of it to try out or I'd try it for you.
You can recieve SMS's on it, you just need to refresh the screen since it's made for PC use and your PPC screen doesn't refresh itself.
To get it to work in different countries, you probably just need to go to your countries yahoo page and find it's link to it's free sms service. -- I just check for links from other countries and couldn't find any for yahoo free sms so this might only be a US thing.

[Think Tank] Skype on non-Verizon

Hi all. This is my first ever new thread so go easy on me. A while back we had a think-tank to make GoogleMaps work for navigation outside of the US. I figured if that was allowed then this request should be...
Skype makes SkypeMobile for android but it only works on Verizon. I figure there is no reason the smart people here can't mod the APK or phone ID to force it to work on my T-Mobile G1 (even if only over WiFi).
Is anyone up to the challenge?
-Sorry if this has been discussed, but I did try searching first and only found links to an old Skype Lite, which is not the same as Skype Mobile from Skype.
As far as I'm aware, even the official skype app on android uses minutes to call a cheaper number to call your skype contacts cheaply. If I'm not mistaken, on the verizon app there's no way to make data/wifi only calls. Fring's better for that
Skype Beta is available for T-Mobile Android devices. it does call out to a number to make the skype calls, but it calls out to the same number every time. THE SAME NUMBER EVERY TIME.
Hey, doesn't T-Mobile have a "Favorite 5" program or something?

mghtyred beat me too it.
You can also do something similar with Google Voice's call out feature, I believe it's option 2 from within the automated menu to make an outbound call. Ofcourse you would need to add it to your 5 Faves first.
By the way, I can't remember if Skype's number is a 1-800/1-877 number or not, but T-Mobile prohibits those from My-Faves.
Technically, they frown upon you adding GV's number as well, but I don't know if they've figured out a way to track that yet.

This.
Fring works great.
Nimbuzz is an option as well
T-mobile no longer has myFaves and they found out people were setting the Voice number as a fave and it still costs now.
The only way you have myFaves with the G1 is if it's an old plan it's not available now.

Call Skype over WIFI (Or 3G)

As most of you know the Verizon Skype app sucks because it only routes the call over Verizon's voice network (and in the latest version they let you keep your wifi on, but the app does not use it)
Iv recently found a nice app called Nimbuzz http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.nimbuzz
Nimbuzz can connect to Skype and let you use it as true VoIP, it will let you make and receive Skype called over 3G and WIFI. (your phone does not even need to be activated) And its not even limited to Verizon users. Fore free, it is the best Skype client for android (better than the official android app)
I just wanted to share my find with XDA.
great find, i know a few ppl looking for this! i appreciate the info

VoLTE on hammerhead..

Hey Dev's, greetings!! Great work on the ROMs!! I have only one request. Can we get volte on Nexus 5? It is among the supported hardware and only there is no software. I don't want developers shoutung it isn't possible. If so, please tell why. It was fine by the phone in Japan. Also I heard that it is possible if we use SIP . I am a noob so if you could tell me how. Basically volte is communication by system dialler to network. Also, there is an app called Jio4gvoice. If someone could analyse the app and describe what it does, it would Hasten the work. Please help...
Gosh.. 119 views but no comments?
The app acts as a bridge to your phone and a jio server through internet, which then converts the signal and redirects the call to the other person.
Volte is different. Calls are directly connected to the recipient. What you want is someone to make an app which "voice calls" to their server, and their server needs to convert the call and redirect the call to the recipient's number. Can a normal server handle this? No. Only the mobile network company have the resources to do this. Not only is this impossible for a developer, it is non sense to even ask this. Only way is if Google adds support for volte through a firmware update which is highly unlikely.
Please Google a bit before making such requests

Can't somebody find out the SIP details of the app and integrate it into Pixel Dialler? What about IP calling? Stop revoking and u too get your facts right.

Let's say someone gets the details from the app and integrates to the dialer, great jio voice calls will work. What about other operators? And how different would it be from jio4gvoice app? Can you use jio4gvoice to make voice calls from another operator? No. You want it to work on all operators? Then
That "somebody" can only be an operator. Who can provide such facilities.

Dude, jio4gvoice is a VoIP app right? Can't we use IP dial if we know the prefix/settings of the app.? Also, SIP is used in Japan on TMo for volte. How can I get the sip protocol necessary? From the operator or Jio4gvoice app?
