Is there any reg hack or other solution to use the phone's built-in mic even when headphones are connected?

yes, i am looking into this too atm, i have an advantage but when i wanna take a call and dont have the bluetooth activated; it stays on speaker or if i plug in the earpieces; the mic is deactivated

I read about that new A2DP functionality for music so I got some interesting idea about turning my TC to a car mp3 player. My TC has 8gb so it's cool to have such amount of music in car without need to change discs or something.
There are new car cd players that support bluetooth, my question is how all this stuff works together ? Has anyone tried ? Is it comfortable at it's current state ? I mean will it connect automatically and will the cd player controls work to browse the music stored on TC or will I need to use the TC to navigate songs(less comfort while driving)... What about sound quality, is A2DP provides good sound ? What should I expect from such a setup ?
I would answer half of the question myself only If I would already have the bluetooth supported cd player, but my one doesn't support it :-( so I am thinking about a replacement and will it be worth or not.

I use my Tytyn2 for this purpose with a pioneer B65 Head unit. The quality is good enough for a car considering the background noise and far superior to using a FM transmitter. You will have to use the TC to control the tracks and the display on the head unit does not show track info.

Doesn't seems to be comfortable solution then... There is no interface that will allow head unit to control it ? :-((... Anyone else tried this ?

I use a Jabra BT320S to hear music in car using the line in of my head unit. Sound is good and obviously i have the TC to control the music. SOme programs have very finger friendly buttons. I'm very happy

This is the solution you are looking for.

Install WM5torage on the PDA, and set it up so that the PDA appears as a mass storage device.
Plug the PDA into the headunit with a USB cable.
The headunit should now see the tracks in the memory card of the PDA.

since i'm an owner of an saxo vts, which is equal to say been roubed evey time. i just do not have normal player, i instead add amp. connected to the normal audio pre-installation.
Then a audio cable from the PDA to the input of the amp. this also means stereo no front back sound distribution.
i also thought about the bluetooth but then, i realize that with TomTom, phone call , plus blue streaming, the device was not power enough.
Ah since then no one broke in, why because there's actually nothing there to robe.

My Solution
X-Kent. I have been using bluetooth in my car for nearly a year now and it's definately the way forward. Forget plugging it in via USB!
My HU is a JVC BT-1.
First of all the quality of your A2DP can be configured using the 'Advance config' program (found on this forum). I also use a Sony bluetooth headphone receiver and at first my Orbit 2 sounded a bit...cheap! However by cranking up the sample rate to 48000, bit pool to 58 and the max bit pool to 80, it has increased the quality from a decent FM quality to CD quality. This is just in my experience and audio purists would argue otherwise. Nonetheless this applies to my reciever and my car BT.
Next is that if you use BT in your car you would change the tracks by using the phone NOT the head unit. But I think this is FAR better and safer. I have my phone mounted next to the wheel, and not only can I see what track is playing on my phone, I have big pause and next/back track buttons to press and I can even see the album art. Far better than the crappy text display you get on a head unit (unless you have a v.expensive one!) If you did use USB then it would put the track names on the HU and allow full control, but why when you can use the lovely phone touch functions.
Finally (this is where it comes into it's own). The BT-1 has a small mic that you can locate anywhere and you can make calls in the car without touching anything. The BT-1 allows voice dialling and you can speak to people thru your car. And because it's BT then you can have the phone in your pocket. The Headunit is intelligent enough to automatically pick up the phone when it's in range and link them together. No buttons required. If a call comes in and you're listening to music, the ring comes through the speakers of the car. You can then pick up and it pauses the music. When your conversation's done, the music starts up where you left off!
If you use Sat Nav, even if you're listening to music or having a convo, the voice instructions are also routed through your speakers.
Why use anything else other than bluetooth? Hope that helps

What bluetooth headsets will work with the touch diamond?

other question: why should there be any headsets not working?
i have a really cheap but nice looking samsung headset, no problem to get paired with the diamond. should work with any other headset, too!?

My existing is just a cheap iTouch bluetooth headset and it works perfectly.
I don't think Diamond has any problem to work with other brands.

I have an old Motorola Bluetooth headset (4 Years) and it will not pair with my Diamond. Looks like its time to upgrade to a Jawbone!! hehehe

Theres a app called btAudio (keep a google-eye open for newer versions) that does exactly this, it will send ALL sound to the headset, despite of what windows had in mind for the sound (as in if it was gonna use headset or build-in speaker)
Tho, it sometimes chokes when you dont shut down the app before you disable the bluetooth headset or phones bluetooth function, but i guess that kinda makes sense (its even sayd in the program to not do that, but im a sucker for trying such things hehe)
And another thing, this happend for me too (taken from comments on some site, linked below)
The program runs well however if you try to make a phone call with the blue tooth ear piece while the program is active the program is not available after the call is completed.
I had to reset my phone to enable the program again. - source of comment
Guess thats related to windows not being to happy theres multiple apps using the headset, lets hope for a next version which auto-disables when calling and re-enables when u hang up.

Got the manual that Jabra put up on their support site for a day or two before taking it off. Manual says it also supports A2DP and can stream music.

And what about battery life? Could somebody using bluetooth stereos write how long the Diamond can last, and what is the overall impact on battery life while listening to music?

It also works on my pc and my PS3 as a wireless headset/mic!

I have proper enclosed stereo headphones Dell DH-200 with volume control, next and previous track plus play/pause buttons and it all works fine with HTC DT. The only think I am not sure about is which profile it is using, the sound is not as good as when I have it paired with my laptop, which would suggest a low speed profile as opposed to HQ.

You can change the bluetooth profile in Schap's Advanced Config. I've set bitpool to 70, max to 76 and min to 64. Now the sound quality is waaay better.

I can't connect my Jabra 320's (worked with SE W880i) to BT Stereo, it only see's the headphones as a handsfree unit on the HTC

Jawbone. Nothing else comes close (for hands free anyway!). And the new one even matches the Diamond... sort of!

Has anyone suffered the sound periodically dropping out for a second or two, mainly during the first minutes of connection but still persisting now and again several tracks down the playlist?

Is there anything available that will force my HD2 to use the internal mic while a headset is plugged into the 3.5mm socket?
I often use my HD2 to listen to music in my car using a 3.5mm jack to jack cable into the aux in port just near my handbrake which works a charm.
When I get a call the music is interrupted and if I answer it I can hear the caller through my car speakers however they can't hear me as the phone is in headset mode and is expecting a mic to be plugged in.
I don't think it's a simple case of re-routing which mic is used as while that may technically work the caller would be able to hear themselves delayed through my cars sound system. I need the phone to send the mic into speaker mode so it has a detection system that stops the caller hearing themselves but send the output through the headset socket.
I hope that makes sense?

seems strange that it does not working .. i use this way to listen music & gps instructions and it is working ok, with the phone's microphone.. try i different 3.5mm jack (stereo) .. or you have a cooked rom ?

yeah it dosnt work cuz if u look @ the original headset it has 3 lines which meant 2 for the stereo ear pice and 1 for the mic, i have the same prob i dnt like the origenal headset so i use mine which means i have to unplug it every time i get a call, but i think the only way to use good headset with mic is to buy the iphone headset, its the same priciple with a better sound quality of the headset

If your jack has only 3 contacts, the phone can sense there's no 4th one, so there's no mic, and uses the internal mic. If your cable has 4 contacts, it will try to use external mic even if there's actually none.

wow, i was just asking myself the same question. i have a pair of sennheiser earphones(without mic), when i take an incoming call the other side cannot hear me most of times. but, sometimes the internal microphone is activated and i can speak using my earphones. this seems a quite random problem, i don't understand. even with skype, sometime i can use earphones, some other time i'm forced to unplug using the loudspeaker...boh...

i want my phone mic since my built in carstero mic is to far away

yeah .. im experiencing the same problem as well. Its random . Therefore, i do not know if the HD2 supports the use of mic when we plug in out earphones. From what i tried, sometimes im able. Other times im not . i dont know whats wrong as well. Anyone here has a solution ???

if you want the voice on the car stero the ngo to the bluetooth settings moor or advance whatever and select play system sounds or something like that

the smartphones have a standard 3.5mm jack, so you could use any 3.5mm
headphones in order to hear something. But what about remote control buttons?
Will for example the buttons on a SonyEricsson headset, connected to an
HTC phone work?
I think, if it is implemented on a firmware level, it won't work, but if intercepting
the button signals is implemented in the player(s) itself, then perhaps even the
remote control buttons should work on other phones, if supported by the
player.
And what about normal headphones ? Are they usable for phone calls ?
Can you just listen to the other party through the headphones and your

From my experience, microphone + headphones work from every device if they have a 3.5mm jack.
Control buttons usually don't work from a device to another, because their signals are hardware specific.
Normal headphones are usable off course only to hear stuff from your phone.
In call, your built-in microphone will be used.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.
