Dear All,
I would like to ask what is the latest WM2005 ROM version? and is it the best ROM? if not then what is the best version? I have found some on buzzdev.net but I don't know because this my first unofficial upgrade.
I have XDA II with loader 1.01.
Thanks a Lot,
they are all based on the same core rom with improvements
newer versions == more improvements
other then that it's all about how big a ramdisk they are installed
hi rudegar,
sorry, but I must disagree.
they are not based on the same core...
and there's much more differencies, than just size of RAMdisk.
take care
buzz
and what the difference between rom kitchen n rom?? i've read the post by buzz in buzzdev.net, there is 40mb in rom kitchen n 20mb in rom.. what type should i use??
thanx
Updates are good

I agree with Buzz.
I think that windows mobile 5.0 is based on windows CE 5.0 architecture and there can be updates to both and the size of a ram disk is not that important as long as a device is capable of running your desired apps without running out of program memory. A newer roms is likely to run better and be more compatible with apps but can still contain bugs. I think that I got more performance from reg editing and ocing that upgrading from 2003se to 5.0 but i always try a new rom.
Buzz do you use ms voice command and any idea on the problem it has with AKU 3.2?
p.s. a rom kitchen is where roms are cooked!
"I think that windows mobile 5.0 is based on windows CE 5.0 architecture"
well we all agree on that one
the place that buzz set to streigth was when i said that
all windows mobiles were based on the same leaked 2005 rom
What I have seen is ROMs based on AKU 2, AKU 2.3, and AKU 3.2. of course each with it's own personal customization and may be some tweaks for performace. From the experiance what is the main differances between AKU versions and what is the best customization from the features and the performace point of view?
I have tried all the wm05 roms here but i got nothing but the sad thought that i don't have a compatible wm5 device. All of them have many flaws and none of them work correctly or as fast as they should be.. not even 03se. After many upgrades and downgrades i found out that the best one is the qtek rom and nothing else. It wasn't suposed to work on wm5 so don't upload versions with bugs and so... try to get a version that will not move slow, will have all the original programs, all the original programs will work and let the user install whatever he wants, don't make roms with preinstalled programes because that only makes them work slow .
Try AKU 3.2 ROM as they r latest and the stable one .
agree with you. stable and fast.
Hi there,
Anyone knows about any cleanest ROM with latest updates (OS patches, HTC patches) and no other stuff in it?
I would go for Alex's UltraCLEAN ROM but it looks like the OS is too old comparing to Helmi's/Dutty's/Schap's ones.
So far the best I ever used is Helmi's Clean ROM, no custom splashscreens, no custom graphics, just completely clean ROM (I appreciate any performance tweak, not bloody graphics )
But it looks like it's out of date these days...
Any hints?
Thanks,
Gabriel
ROM OS versions
To be clear:
Duttys New years Rom 2k8 Fixed [DualTouch v2] TouchFLO: v5.2.1933 build 18533.dutty
Dutty's SupaLite Rom v5.2.1948 build 20000.dutty
Alex.HTC.156.UC4.ROM v5.2.1620 build 18125.0.4.2
Schap's WM6 Pro 4.30 ROM v5.2.1948 build 18548.0.7.0
Helmi kaiser aku.0.7.0_04_clean v5.2.1978 build 18578.0.7.0
See the difference?
Hmm isn't Helmis the latest OS version rather than the most outdated?!?!

Ha! You see? you got the point
How can he have such build (acting as a newest one) and be almost 3 months out of date?
Any fake going around?
FWIW, I stripped and released the Folders & OEM packages from the HTC ROM found in this thread.
thats not exactly how is works
Its not always the newest builds that are the best
But the builds usually is ported from other devices, like polaris, touch dual or w/e.
I have portet the build in my kaiser to herald, (norwegian) and I portet polaris os to herald (wwe) its the same build, I duplicated excatly same edits, removals of files...did exactly the same setup. But there is a very noticeable diffrence in speed and stability on the two ports, even though it has same apps, same setup, same os build.
I dunno if this explain anything to anyone
But do not make the mistake beliving newer os version is better.
cheers
IIRC (and I could be completely wrong here) the 5.2.1978 build was a fake.
Something to consider with these build versions is that not all of them are built for the Kaiser - some of them have been ported from other releases for other models of device.
Some people only believe in using builds that were intended for the Kaiser, others think that there are benefits from using new versions.
As with all things in software, with fixes come more bugs - newer revisions might have one thing fixed, but another three broken. You never can tell.
Beyond ROM versions, there's also software versions which can be even more significant. For example, we're seeing roms with a much newer version of the camera software now.
So there's an awful lot to consider really.
Alex 1.6 rom is using the most updated at&t rom which should include all the basic patches from bluetooth hot fix to the other stuff. If you want newest NetCF on there, you can cook that in. Many of those roms have been tweaked out, so using Alex's rom, I think is the cleanest. A little bit more understanding of these version numbers would help you understand more about these roms.

Absolutely agree with you itje. The latest HTC OEM apps also go a long way in helping you determine how "latest" a ROM is. CE OS Build alone shows only part of the picture...
Ok - I've looked through a bunch of threads. I just want to put WM 6.1 as you get it from HTC on my Tilt.
I live in the US so I don't have access to it.
All the ROMs I see in the threads below are all customized, etc... I just want the standard WM 6.1 ROM. Where can I get instructions on how to do this?
you can dl it from:
http://member.htc.com/downloadfiles....0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.zip
sorry, the link doesnt work... needs ID and password....
you can find it in kaiser wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282
you will need to unlock the CID in order to flash the HTC branded ROM

or you can wait a few days and nothrills will be releasing a wm6.1 rom. All his roms are pure htc roms except for performance tweaks everything else is as it would come from htc themself.
Really????? I didnt know that... A good news for me.. haha
Meanwhile you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399150.
I like it... almost comparable to shogunmark's rom. You can read through the thread.. only 2 pages... maybe because of new chef, not many want to try.
I'm glad that i try... stick with it now...

You can look at my lite rom. It contains only files from MS and HTC device drivers. All custom applications have been removed. I also included the ROM Folders so you can customize it!

3.28.405.0 (Radio 1.65.16.25) original HTC WWE (World Wide English)
Look for the ROM titled 3.28.405.0 (Radio 1.65.16.25) original HTC WWE (World Wide English) in the Wiki or check this thread for mirrors...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393535
This is the HTC 6.1 world wide english (WWE) release. If using a Tilt you will want to install the latest Jockey 3.28 hardspl first. You will also need an ATT Keyboard fix cab file (see the thread) and will need to uncheck the proxy in Settings/Connections/Connections/Proxy Settings after at&t network settings are auto-configured.
You could also try the latest at&t 6.1 (almost OFFICIAL) test ROM titled ATT 19213 build with 1.65.20.29 radio. See this thread for mirrors and more...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391708
I am using both with good results. Both are full 6.1 ROMs, are stable and contain all HTC improvements for video and general performance.
Both are very similar at their core. The at&t ROM is bloated with at&t specific features and additional junk. You can eliminate much of this from your user interface but will lose storage space.
I am running a nearly identical set of apps on both with good results.
EDIT: a newer at&t test version is now available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400276
I can see that most of the advanced chefs are cooking diamond based roms for kaiser and pure kaiser ROMs is undergoing not much change ( May be the CHEFs want more challenge ;-) ). I would personally love to see a very stable and very fast Kaiser based rom. DIamond ROM in kaiser , not doubt slows the performance....

If i'm not mistaken, rom posted by hang.tuah is a kaiser rom. Here take a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399150
-The pure HTC Asia WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
Fast and stable IMHO.
Hello! I'm considering upgrading my OS on my hTC Vox, but I wondering about a few things:
- Do any of these WM 6.1 versions support Scandinavian language/letters (Æ, Ø, Å)?
- How is the performance vs. the original WM 6.0 version?
- What about the battery time? Increasing or decreasing?
- Is the different versions stable, or is someone full of bugs?
- How much free memory in the different versions?
- Can I easily change back to my original official ROM?
- uSPL is for all devices, not only for operatorlocked devices, and it's necessary to get the unofficial ROM's to work?
Anyone who has experience with some of the versions?
Which would you recommend?
The versions I'm talking about:

EDIT:
Do this language pack work with all the different versions? Just download to the phone, and install?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384186
EDIT2:
Added two more questions.
Very nice question
I was going to ask the same
Hope everyone can share their experiences flashing their phones with the different roms.
I can't wait to flash my Vox... I'm tired of the fabric's rom
- Do any of these WM 6.1 versions support Scandinavian language/letters (Æ, Ø, Å)?
By default, no, you will need to install the fonts.
- How is the performance vs. the original WM 6.0 version?
6.1 is faster than the original, especially in some parts like file exploring but overall, it is snappier
- What about the battery time? Increasing or decreasing?
Decrease, but depending on how you use it, it may seem shorter, but enough for one day's use.
- Is the different versions stable, or is someone full of bugs?
There is some bugs in some features but i guess you won't be needing it anyway. The only prominent bug SD encryption doesn't work.
- How much free memory in the different versions?
no idea
- Can I easily change back to my original official ROM?
Yes, it is easier than flashing custom roms, just execute the flasher from your carrier or htc then follow the instructions
- uSPL is for all devices, not only for operatorlocked devices, and it's necessary to get the unofficial ROM's to work?
uSPL is for VOX ONLY. It unlocks the cid not sim lock. Every device will need it to flash a custom rom.
Hi Vener
Did you try the roms pointed by Voxonas?
Which one would you recommend?

I don't think it would be nice to upgrade to a rom that makes battery duration to decrease... unless it has a kicking awesome incredible new feature
only one rom is not nearly enough. also, is there anyone working on a manila2D rom. m2d works better when cooked with the rom
Is that even possible? Magician only has 32MB ROM. When I used to cook Wizard ROMs, it wasn't hard to hit its upper limit and it had 2x the ROM space.
maybe when the cook rom tools be release
there will more 6.1 roms can be cooking and testing
but it is important that cotulla or other ones can release the tools
or teaching how to cook
