Is there any "Run on sync" tool? - General Questions and Answers

I searched already and found nothing, it was going to be used to force the M2D weather update immediately after syncronizing with the PC.
Just like SPB Weather has, for so many years now...
:/

Windows Mobile has an "event" for syncing. If you use a good app, I think MemMaid has support for this, and I'm sure the many SKTools apps do, you can manually create a scheduled event, eg every time you start syncing, or plug in power etc, you can run a script or app.

Thank you very much, never noticed...
Congratulations on your great set of tools also.
Unfortunelly now Im having problems discovering how can I force the update on m2d weather... :/

Exit/ending programs in Windows mobile.

Is it just me, or is it not a bit tedious to actually terminate a program?
I would suggest adding a minimize-icon to the upper right besides the X-icon. Then the minimize would do what the X does today, and the X-icon would actually truly terminate the program. This would be much more inline with desktop program-use, and to me more logical.
Alternatively the X-icon would offer minimizing or termination when holding the icon. That would be even sweeter maybe...
I'm new to the pocket/smartphone PC thing as of yesterday, but this already bugs me a bit. And I realize this might be daunting task, but it could also be a quite easy fix. But again, I know little of the Windows mobil system.

Most people use a task manager, my favourite is a piece of freeware called Magic Button. Google for it and you should be able to download it, it basically allows you to close applications properly rather than minimise them when you press the x button.

smartskey (spelled the way i wrote it) is the best app for this as it remaps the softkeys and truly closes the app. do a search for it here. everyone swears by it.
some programs go loco if they get terminated
mw programs was never really ment to be terminated
the os kill them when it wants to free memory
guess they made it that way to speed up things
outlook if terminated right when you send and sms get upset
and act up and piles of ppl report it as an bug in this forum
I actually installed the first suggested. Seems to do the right thing, but are a bit unstable. Have had a few issues with it, but I'm getting used to work it as it expect to be rather than using it's "undocumented features"...

If you get it to keep messaging, activesync, and the phone applications alive, and tick in the options to hide when inactive, it works perfectly AFAIK.

i use handyswitcher, is very cool and you can specify the tasks that you do not wanna terminate when you close all like activesync

REQ: stop app from ever running in foreground

hi chaps
right, here's my problem:
i've got a prophet running the latest dopod rom. all's well in pda land. unfortunately, i've had to do some fiddling to get o2's homezone app working the way it should do. more or less. see, the thing is when my device wakes up, the homezone app HZDisplayDataSMP is always in the foreground. so before i can do anything i have to press the OK button. now, i can sort of live with this, as i have homezone functionality, but it's, well, a pain in the arse, to be honest.
so, my question to you guys is this: does anyone know of a WM5 programme that will run apps, but force them to remain in the background. i was thinking of some resident startup item that would keep the app hidden away nicely from my interface, but continue to allow it to do what it needs to.
does anyone know of anything that sounds useful? if so, you're my man. i've got a hunch our good vijay555 might be able to lend a hand, but feel free to throw suggestions at me.
thanks a million, guys
I was asked about a similar app recently, to run apps minimised.
I've had major troubles rebuilding my PC after I installed the Vista Beta and it decided to eat my Documents & Settings and Program Files.
I'm finally back up to speed and able to start programming again, so will try to look into it.
But it should be easy enough for a developer to knock together with ShellExecute.
In the meantime, you might want to use a mort script to find the window by caption and minimise it. Or SK Schema should be able to do exactly what you want, run an event when it finds a window by caption.
V
righto! thanks for the heads-up. really appreciate it, pal. i'll have a look into both of those suggestions.
ps: the only reason to install vista is halo 2 pc. can't think of any other factor which would cause me to pollute my hard drive with such nonsense

Trouble uninstalling Live Search

I'm running a Tilt on Alex 6.1 Ultraclean, but I think that pretty much irrelevant.
I've been trying to uninstall, then reinstall Live Search for about three days now. Used windows' Remove programs utility, tried Pocket Mechanic, and I've deleted every Live Search registry entry I can find. Yet anytime I run the cab, I still get the message that Live Search is still installed. What else have I missed in cleaning out the leftovers?

Activesync slowdown on application install

...or vise versa.
It seems that the device slows down as soon as an over the air sync session starts. Do a hard reset and everyting runs OK. Install Applications, still OK. Now do an active sync, suddenly all the speed is gone.
If you do an activesync before the application install the problem experienced is still the same. any ideas?
I have noticed the strange behaviour on previous ROM's as well, and only now via testing worked out that AS, maybe selects a block for its Data, and then if this block grows the fragmented file data slows the device down.
Forwarded the request to SPB Software, and they are looking into it.
SPB makes some good apps BUT they are known to slow devices down to a crawl... if you dont have to use that app i would recomend using smething other than a SPB product
You speak the truth LOL
What I need is to replace the Auto Profile feature of Phone Suite. SPB Shell s still OK (fr my Kaiser) untill Schapps new interface is available that is!
check out Xda member danielhero he makes some good apps one is called bandswitch i think or com-something. there are a few apps that do what you are looking for just search around some more.

I can never install any new Today plugins anymore

I don't know why this happens but I cannot install any new today plugin items anymore.
I use winmo 6.1 on ipaq 612c.
I think this started ever since i changed the today plugin order using Memmaid. I'm not sure exactly if this the entire reason though. I've uninstalled memmaid but problem still remains. So i reinstalled memmaid because i find it useful for doing other stuff.
Has anyone ever heard of such a problem? Please no hard reset suggestion. thx
nobody having similar issues?
Hi,
What other software have you installed that could be causing compatability issues? Give me a list of what you have, ive not heard of today plugins not showing if installed correctly, unless you are using a different today screen (such as tf3d for example).
You say you cant install correctly? Are you given an error message?
i have done these things:
i have disabled all start ups...
I have disabled all start up plugins
And even after doing those things i still can't install and new apps with today plugins.
To work I have to delete the today dll component first then the today page returns to normal again and main application starts.
This happens with pocket music, spb insight and others (all of them basically).
Multiple today page plugins definitely wont run.
On top of the typical today plugins i have skype and wefi...
