Using BT Headset to contol TP D pad w/TV out? - General Questions and Answers

Does anyone know of a program that will let me remap what the buttons (volume) on my BT headset control? I would like them to control the up and down on my phones D pad when I am using the TV out on my Touch Pro. This way I can kill two birds with one stone. I can put to use one of my old crappy headsets and walk around the room while doing a powerpoint presentation. It seems pretty simple but in searching around I havent found anything...
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the only data hardware key on your headset is the Call button. the volume keys don't transfer any data to your device.
I doubt you can remap them.

ahhh yes. Didnt think about that. Darn it. foiled again.

It is still possible for you to use the call button for 'down' to go forward a page.
Check out my posts on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435742.
You should be able to adjust this to suit your needs by putting a value of 40 in vjkeypress for down.

just wondering.. but why not use your phone for powerpoint presentations rather than the headset?

Buttonless (MS) Voice Command?

So, here's my situation:
After I go to the gym, I like to go to the hot tub. That's simple. What I do is put my Mogul in my backpack and play music through my HT820 Motorola headphones. Also easy. Problem is: I have shuffle through my WHOLE collection of music on my storage card to get anywhere, which can take minutes sometimes. Enter MSVC.
This seemed like the best thing for my needs, the only problem is that it requires hitting the blasted Voice Command button on the phone in order for it to do anything. Which, in my case, is not exactly possible (As the steam would probably degrade/destroy my phone). So, I was wondering whether or not it was possible to assign the Voice Command button to the right "M" button on the headphones. Unfortunately, after pairing the devices on the offchance that that button showed up under the "buttons" menu, I realized it wasn't going to be quite that easy. So... In summation... Is this possible at all, or is there some other means of accomplishing it?
Bumpity bump bump, as I could really use some help on this.
Did you want someone to read through the posts on assigning buttons for you and retype the answers here? I have some time next Thursday and can do that for you.
are you sure you are using your headset right , I have a sony ericsson hbh 970 stereo headset, and that has a button on it, that activates VC for me ! maybe you need to press and hold something.

Don't worry about it.

Button mappings for audio player

Hi guys, Just wondering if there is any media player that will allow me to set the next track function to lots of different buttons.
Basically i want to set all the face buttons well 1-9 and * and #, just so when its in my pocket i can prod my phone to change the tracks and not have to find a specific button. I have wmp and tcpmp on my phone now so if theres a way for either of those that would be great.
Cheers.
Fed
p.s cool forums btw already found plenty cool stuff on here.
Ok guess not, nevermind. What about my headset, it has the button to accept calls etc could i map that to the next function? ive tryed in wmp but doesnt recognise it. Also when i double click the button on my headphones it rings one of my contacts which ive done accidently once or twice now, anyway to stop this?
Cheers.

Wake up Topaz with front buttons

I've been searhing a week now, all the internet, all this forum, and i still can't believe nobody didn't need (or think) to wake the Diamond 2 with some other button then power button? I tried all that i found on this forum, like key remapper programs (they are really good programs and usi it), but they do not work when phone is in stand by. I'm using the phone also as navigator on motorcycle, so i have the phone in the transparent top pocket, and need to wake up the phone with front buttons. Is it inpossible? Before on omnia i had this possibility in control panel, but disapointed, that htc didn't make it? Hope someone has an idea how could be done this...or is it actually so simple, and i didn't figure it how? Please, someone help me, i like this phone a lot. I have the essential rom installed at the moment, if this help. Thanks.
have not tried it - but TD2 Tools has an 'Any Key WakeUp'-Option
changing HKCU\controlpanel\Keybd\DefaultKeyLock from 1 to 0
easy one!

[REQ] Call Confirm on Bluetooth

it's been a while I really wanted a special app, but now it's time, two days ago i bought a new BT headset a Samsung bhs3000, the problem lies in the answer button press (read by mistake) redials the latest dialed number. with a call confirm app like Call Confirm so it stops the redialing, BUT I want it either just started when bt hedsetet is connected or/and between certain hours. Is anyone having any suggestions?
only thing I've found is just the reverse of what i want, it turns the call confirm off on bluetooth connect.
I would like to see in the app:
dialog box with something like "would you call?" buddy picture, Number , buttons: call and cancel.
maybe 2-3 simple themes say dark, light, and anything else? (not necessary)
opportunity to have it running regular, on/off at BT connect, between certain hours and on/off bt connect AND times.
do not know right away if I got everything so input is warmly welcomed.
I've been looking for something like this for a while as well. The best advice I can find is, buy a Bluetooth earpiece (headset in your case) where you don't accidentally press the button. I was directed to one with a slider that keeps the button inaccessible. But I don't want to buy a whole new earpiece, and I suspect you don't, either.
Now there is an app in the market, for free, and I forget the name (sorry) that changes what happens when you tap the Bluetooth device's main button. Default is voice command. You can set it to anything you like (or nothing). But I emailed the dev, and they have no control over the long-press of the Bluetooth's main button (seems to be universally redial).
Call confirmation would be a good feature overall. When you call (with Contapps, for example, it's easy to accidentally call if you forget long-pressing a contact calls them, you might think it would bring up a menu) you should be presented with the contact's picture, name, phone number, and maybe other details, with a "swipe to call" and a cancel button.
If something like that were especially elegant, it would even be worth laying down some coin for.

I think we are on the same track here, as for buying a new headset it's not a big deal but the thing is that the Samsung one supports apt-x for better sound quality as do my upcoming sgs3 and changeable ear prices. Long press is fine for voice dial well for me it is. But the single press redial is not
Was searching for that app you mentioned but came up with nothing im afraid :-(
I don't need call confirm all the time only when i have the bt hs connected which I have from 08:00 to 17:00 but to appeal to a broader audience the app could work with that too.

one way to handle this on a rooted system would be to remap the key in /usr/keylayout/avrcp.kl, you could even comment the line out so it doesn't respond to it at all.
Yeah been talking to a guy on a big swedish android forum, he told me the same thing as you but not much more like how and what I should edit.
So any ideas? Is it the same on all phones? Got a xperia play Samsung has F ed up the shipment of pebble blue sgs3 to Sweden.
My file well on the play anyway looks like this :
key 200 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE WAKE
key 201 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE WAKE
key 166 MEDIA_STOP WAKE
key 163 MEDIA_NEXT WAKE
key 165 MEDIA_PREVIOUS WAKE
key 168 MEDIA_REWIND WAKE
key 208 MEDIA_FAST_FORWARD WAKE

Gametel bluetooth game controller now available in US. [pic plus review]

The Gametel controller is now available on Amazon.com. I got mine in the mail today. Here's a quick review.
It came with no battery charge, so I had to plug it in to test it out. I was using a USB cable plugged into my computer. At first it only showed a red light to indicate charging, but then a green light came on shortly afterward. This is supposed to indicate that it's on but not paired. I tried pairing with the device using the Gametel software from the market, but it would not work. Turns out you can't use the controller while it's plugged into a computer. As soon as I unplugged it it turned off, and when I turned it back on it paired fine. I tested it again while plugged in and it still wouldn't connect to the phone. No big deal, but it's a minor hassle. It might work fine when plugged into an outlet. It supposedly has a 9 hour battery life, so just keep it charged and this issue should never bother you.
Despite the One X's huge size it fits fine, even with a TPU case. The TPU case has the added benefit of keeping the controller arm from pressing the down volume button. The software has a feature to disable the volume keys because of this potential issue, but it's nice that I didn't need to use it. It says it can provide volume control using the device itself, but I'm not sure how that would work, since all the physical buttons are mapped to SNES buttons for my purposes. You could always slide the phone a little bit to the left and it wouldn't hit the volume key. The phone would be off center, but it wouldn't be too bad.
The controller acts as a virtual keyboard. As part of the software setup it installs an input method in your keyboard settings. As soon as you launch the software it prompts you to change to its input method, which is handy. Then you can launch your favorite emulator and map the keys is uses to the emulator's buttons.
I initially had problems with the default keys that the controller was emitting. I'm used to an SNES button layout, so I will call the buttons X (top), Y (left), B (bottom), A (right). For some crazy reason the A button was emitting the Android "Back" button by default. This was mappable in Snes9x EX, but pressing it still performed the "Back" action which prompted you to quit the game. The B button was emitting the "DPAD Center", which worked, but was an odd choice. It's even stranger because none of the preset key configs in the Gametel software's Advanced Settings have this setup. If this happens to anyone else, just load the Android Gamepad preset and it will work fine. However, it reverses X & Y and A & B from what I'm used to, so I made my own preset named SNES. That way when I configure Snes9x the purpose of the button matches up with the key being emitted.
As for the controller's buttons and D-pad, they are OK. The buttons are great, but the D-pad makes you move diagonally a little too easily. If anyone is familiar with the Xbox 360 D-pad, it's the same sort of problem, but not as bad. Maybe with more time I'll get used to the feel of exactly where to press to avoid moving diagonally. Part of the problem is the D-pad is circular instead of cross-shaped. It's hard for your thumb to feel exactly where the cardinal directions are. This isn't the entire problem, though, because the 360 controller has clearly raised cardinal directions and it still sucks really bad. Thankfully it's not nearly that bad with this D-pad. Pretty much anything is better than on-screen controls.
That actually looks pretty cool.
I don't game enough to need this and touchscreen controls don't bother me enough, but thanks for the review!
As it turns out, the D-pad is really ****ty. This is most noticeable in games with movement in both directions, like Secret of Mana. Zelda wasn't so bad because you move kind of slow and you can adjust your thumb position if you notice yourself moving diagonally by accident. However, in Secret of Mana you fly across the screen, and moving diagonally by accident for a second can really put you off course. In a game like Super Mario World you don't really notice the problem.
I might have to try an iControlPad. I just really liked the Gametel's single-piece design and spring-loaded arm.
