A2DP Worky? - G1 Android Development

Anyone been able to make A2DP work with the root? Not in any hurries, just a curiosity what has been the experience with this part of the Cupcake branch...

I wish... It's the number 1 thing I want on my G1, after an on-screen keyboard

Is it possible to modify the Bluetooth profiles in root?
From what I have been reading all the profiles are software based so this seems like it would be just a slight modification of code.
Can anyone confirm?

According to http://andblogs.net/images/snapshots/
Bluetooth is working atleast in some form in cupcake

Awesome, thanks!
Seems like cupcake includes the A2DP profile, but I wish it could just be enabled via root.

What I'm wondering is if we can compile a new libbluetooth.so to include these profiles and just push the new file into the /system/lib? I'm guessing that they didn't include this library with the android source though.

This might warrant a cup install to see if it tethers with my Alpine headunit in the car properly
Caller id/phonebook access would be kick ass!

Thanks for the info, korndub !
Did you build from source?
Is stereo BT working in these:

?
Is the phone generally usable?

Can't select bluetooth headset in audio tab
Hi,
Have installed this little app and trying out the features which I find interesting but my Bluetrek G2 headset is not shown in the drop down list box in the audio tab.
Is it possible with this add-on installed to listen to music thru the BT headset?
thanks
Mark
Mmmmmmmmm, yes this is intreaging, what the hell is it.

You made it man!!!!
This tool makes me hear Stereo Streaming Audio over Bluetooth!!
I used Himalaya with WM5 and Motorola HT820.
How it works:
1. After install delete your paired Headphone, hten pair again. You get a new Service called Audio.
2. In the new Tab "Audio" select you Headphone.
3. Softreset
I was searching for that for so long! THANKS!!!!!
I don't think this works on the Jasjar, I am now going to hard reset my phone it stuffed up all my audio, I should have asked first.
Extremely Disappointed !!!
Unfortunatly this thread was originally created on buzzdev's forum, the Himalaya wm2005 section. And I regret saying that stealing threads is not a profesional way of spreading info on the net.
As for the origin of the addon and for most of the answers for your questions, I suggest you go to the original thread ( Follow link below ).

However, there are still some problems!!! The stereo streaming audio over bluetooth headset (HT 820) gets pausing after a 1 minutes or 2 mintues or sometimes 30 seconds!
My xda II (WM5.0 1.62c 07CHS) can transfer streaming audio to HT 820 stereo bluetooth headset already without using this addon, but the above problem is suck!!!!
I have heard from someone say that my cpu is too fast and I have to slow it down by using hack master. I have done it but no luck!!!
Anyone can help????

My BA's bt disconnects when the ba goes off (automatically after 2min) and wont come on when the ba comes on. I also use HS820. how do you go about yours?
I installed this patch but it's now causing many troubles specially on soft reset...I tried to remove it from the Control Panel (Remove Programs) but it fails and says it's not removed completely & if i want to remove it from the installed programs list so i chose NO...Is there any way to get back to the old BT module or should i go to the painful Hard Resst..

Well, think again...
I know of some old Dos games that was ment to run on a 80286 (a what ?!? ) that can't really run well on a Pentium: The cars drive way to fast

Stereo Blue tooth...

So the questions arises.. repeatedly. I don't know about the rest of you.. but I would like to sit my G1 down when I get in the car and pop some music on.
We all know it's soon to be possible.. the question is.. who wants to make it happen NOW?
There's currently two ways to go about it.
We can either
A. gank the A2DP update off the cupcake source and start coding for it..
or
B. Be really nasty about the whole ordeal, and start working on it from debian.
But really.. why be redundant?
The real question is, I do suppose -- if anyone else has beat me to the punch and ganked the cupcake bluetooth update for their images, or has anyone here already started work on a music player? I'm terrible at laying back and doing apps by myself for anything. I get distracted and forget So who wants to play with me? (HOT!)
Why not start releasing our own MASTER update.zip compiled version of whatever is on the android git? I hear it all works now...
It basically all does, except for motion sensing and closed-source apps such as the Google Maps, etc (I use AndNav and AndNav2 as alternates). Little strangeness around video recording, but overall it is pretty good.
Cupcake is out on the g2 or the vodafone magic check it out

I would like to do that as well...wait, I ust my car's stereo, where I basically have the same songs in my G1, but only in a louder setting.
How's this project coming along ... I hope one of you guys can pull the cupcake bluetooth stack and get it working on the G1 .... this is all I'm missing for now .. I just wish I had the time to try it myself
How about you post when you've actually created something instead of posting "gee i wish you guys would create x feature."

VZW Visual Voicemail Version

Can anyone tell me what version of vvm is running on your stock TP2? I'm more curious to know if it still opens automatically, unlocking your phone in your pocket and ruining your afternoon, than I am really caring about the version number.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
version # 1.1.9.11
I do not have it set up (and have never used it before), so have no idea how it works. I manually opened it to see the version number...
Two phones both with same version mentioned.
Unless you are running the app in the background I dont see many ways to accidentally have it open in your pocket.
Haven't gotten a voicemail yet, but I will say that 1.1.7.7 on my Touch Pro would wake the phone up, and open the VVM software, exposing my start menu and everything else to random button presses. This worked regardless if the phone was locked or not.
Will report back when I have some VM's to test.
Visual Voicemail on the TP2? Is this the Verizon or Sprint version?
edit: whoops, sorry. NM.
1.1.9.11 is on the stock tp2 verizon
verizon has an updated version available through the browser.
its version 1.1.9.41, no idea whats different. ive attached it
The update version posted above appears to support bluetooth audio playback, but doesn't like our ****comm bluetooth stack. Can anyone come up with a workaround?

I haven't tried this (don't have VVM activated on my phone) - but I noticed in the BT settings that there was an option for the system audio to be routed through the headset. You might give this a shot. Although, then you'd have ALL system sounds routed through headset.
I did notice that a program called BTAudioOn that worked on my Touch Pro didn't work on the TP2 ... I'm assuming because the TP2 has the Widcomm stack instead of Microsoft ...

Yeah, the only way to make it work is to route all audio through the headset and manually open the audio channel. Not only is this a terrible solution but it will run your headset battery down very quickly
I've heard about vvm on the tp2 and will probably purchase one, once they are in stock again. In the mean time I installed this cab on my titan and was redirected to verizon's website to pay $2.99/month for the service. Is this what you guys are paying? Or is it just for those of us trying to steal it from another phone?
Thanks
Where did you find that CAB file? Was it somewhere on Verizon's Website? I have a TP2 with MM 6.5 ROM and installed it. It seems to be working except for the fact that I can't play the files through the ear peice. Anyone know which version the Imagino is using?
Where'd you gret tp2 with 6.5?

the elite team just released a hard SPL (unlocker) a couple days ago. With that you would be able to flash any number of custom ROMs already available.

Voice dialing on android?

Hi,
Forgive me for my poor english... So, I used to have a HTC Touch HD, where it was possible to speach to dial some number. As an exemple, I push the button of my headset, and I say "My wife Mobile" and the phone dial the phone number of my wife.
Is there some application like this on android? I'm searching for something hand free, cause I will be on bike to use it...
Many Thanks.
P.S. i have a HTC Desire, official HTC Rom.
If I'm not mistaken, this is working in froyo (2.2).

Hmm... I'm looking for a voice dialing application for 2.1 too over BT and I don't think there is one available at the moment.
There are a few voice dialing applications that work via the phone, but you need to use the phone to launch these to start with.
As far as a hands free environment for the car - there doesn't seem to be anything suitable.
Alas 2.1 does not support the hands free dialing over bluetooth part of the bluetooth communication stack.
This is tracked on Android issue board:

Froyo DEFINITELY works with bluetooth voice dialing. I use it every day.
No one knows when the office version comes out.

Are you saying that Froyo has Voice dialing built into the O/S. (ie, no requirement for 3rd party applications)?
Cheers

Android 2.2 (Froyo) does support bluetooth voice dial part of the protocol.

HTC Desire + SonyEricsson MW600

Hello,
I've bought a SonyEricsson MW600 Bluetooth headset for my HTC Desire.
As some know it work fine except the song title and clock on the display...
Does anyone know if its possible to get the song title info on the display?
From what I have found is that the problem is the Bluetooth stack... or the phone does not send necessary info the headset.

Hi CRzz
I ordered the Headset but haven't received it yet, but you might want to check out this app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4441100
I certainly will
The same app is also out for WM and I've read that it may work with the headset....
Regards
Preggy
Doesn't work for me.
Have you tested the 1.3.0 version? You can get it at the dev's site.
I got my MW600 today.
It works fine as headest an Remote-Controller for MortPlayer but only displays the Phone-Nr. instead of the Name. Also no Music-Title is displayed.
The Openwatch APP also doesn't work
Any Ideas?
EDIT:
I spoke to SE :
They told me that there ist atm no chance to get it work to see caller id (Name) an track names etc. with Android Phones. But its under investigation.....
My friend who has this bluetooth head-set told me that it worked with HTC hero.
He got song title on the display, haven't seen it myself yet!

I've asked SE about this and android phones, they told me that this is a known issue. They have the same problem with their own android phones!
I would not be surprised if it work on their own android phone and not on other brands... but it doesn't seem like it in the case.
Does anyone know if A2DP can be uppdated thrue radio update or what is that?
From what I understand A2DP feature is require to be able to get the text on display.

Have received my own MW600 and no, unfortunately - even after modifying all the settings - it doesn't work...
I have asked SE about this and they told me that the phone have support for A2DP and the other required profiles.
A2DP
AVRCP - Phone have support for the profile but can't send info using it, this one used for sending song title to bluetooth device.
HFP - Phone have support for the profile but can't send info using it, this one used for sending contact info to bluetooth device.
Anyone know anything more about this?

Lemme clear up some of the info here.
A2DP - Allows for the sending of high quality stereo audio via Bluetooth, ALL Android phones have this.
AVRCP - Stands for Audio Visual Remote Control Protocol, and allows for the controlling of a media device via Bluetooth, once again, most BT-enabled Android devices have this.
HFP - Required for sending contact or media information over BT to another device such as a carkit, some Android phones like the Desire have this, but most of the time it is gimped to only allow sending from the phone and not receiving.

Nice one there, Sir Boden and Crzz.
Got my MW600 today. All is working with my HTC Wildfire (Froyo) except that there is no display of music and contact info on the bluetooth device.
Guys, is HFP a hardware or just a software/firmware? If this is a software, then I guess our Android is ready for this when someone is going develop this HFP thing.

HFP (like all BT protocols) is entirely dependent on the software bluetooth stack allowing the profile. The stock Android BT stack has HFP support, the HTC Sense stack has gimped support for it. I'd say the MW600 is relying on 2-way HFP communication, which the Sense BT stack has no support for.

Some more info I got from HTC
According to HTC the A2DP/AVRCP that Android 2.2 have is version 1.0.
To get the support one need's 1.3.
Is there anyone developing/porting this from some other phone!?
Just noticed that I'am able to see who is calling on my mw600 in the latest sense hd port. I'm using InsertCoin 1.9.1 rom. very nice!
although built-in player and poweramp won't display track info...
it has always displayed the phone number. Its the lack of media indication that people are complaining of
In that new base I can see the name of person who is calling! I knew that number was displayed all the time. Try yourself the new dhd base.

Hi,
is there any Update on this? Maybe it works with a Gingerbread ROM?
I'am still on Oxygen Froyo Version but going to change the ROM in next time.
If there is a ROM where this will work, it's possible that I will use this
read my last post (page 8) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12840578#post12840578
just be patient. once (IF) the ginger sense ROM is released, we should slowly start seeing an updated AVRCP. 1.3 is all we need.
