New error: "Your OS ROM isn't customized for your hardware." - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I was using my phone normally, (chatting on msn and got a text message) when the phone locked up completely. Mine hasn't ever just locked up before but I waited a minute to see if it would recover before I finally used the stylus to do a soft reset. But instead of booting now my phone just displays this message.

Rebooting the phone from that just gave me the same message. I could still get into the boot-loader etc so I did a hard-reset on the phone. Still got the same message.
I was about to try flash a new rom to it when I thought I'd try pull the battery out, wait a couple of minutes and put it back in. Now my phone boots again!
I'm not sure if it would have worked without the hard reset or not but obviously some hardware had got itself into an error state and a hard/soft resets wouldn't clear it.
Good luck.

heh. thats very interesting.

hmmm what rom were you running?

It was ROMeOS 1.62 but I suspect it was a hardware problem as opposed to just something in the ROM because a hard reset didnt fix it. Not until I pulled the battery out did it boot again. I figured that seeing I had reset it and had to set the rom up again I'd change to ROMeOS 1.70
I just posted it because I hadn't ever seen this before and figured I'd save someone else panicing for a few minutes.
Maz

This message typically means that OS loader could not initialize the hardware. If the ROM you are using was cooked with a XIP from another model, it's possible that there are some weird compatibility issues.
Another possible cause if corruption of RAM of NAND flash data...

just had the same problem on mine. Thank god for this forum! i was freaking out

BTW, I am running one of NATF's ROMs, too lazy to look up the version right now

OMG, just got the same problem on blackstone...
Same resolution except that I had to wait 15 minutes with the battery out before it worked again...
Thank you very much for the post!!!

If my theories on this are correct, your battery is loose. Open up your phone and check if your battery slides around.

Solved - Bricked after removal of pim.vol

Hello.
I don't like to post a request for a first post
but that's I'm gonna do
I owned a HTC Tornado (Sda T-Mobile) since one year and seven months bought on ebay an occasion
It's running on Wm5 (never installed Wm6 or 6.1)
Last time I've reinstalled my os (from an image) and I've forgotten to put in that last os image
the active sync preferences
so I've done what I've done two times, delete the file 'pim.vol' in the phone
by renaming 'pim.vol' by 'pim.vo' or something like that
from memory that was difficult so I've decided to move that file to another directory
after that I've made a mistake with the synchronization of outlook and the device by deleting the wrong profile
anyway it was late in the evening and I left that situation to go and sleep
I left the phone charging during the night
since that operation the phone is blocked after entering the sim pin code,
I left two pics to summarize the situation
the first shows the phone with the sim card inserted

the second one shows it without the sim card
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f74/veigne/IMG_0920.jpg
I left it a few hours but no change on the screen
I've tried the reset operation with the soft keys and the one with camera button and the communication button
it doesn't help
I've read on that forum that the problem can come from a defective battery, I'm gonna try to find a new one
maybe on ebay maybe in my town I'm located in Lyon France
I saw a similar post to mine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399910
I saw in a post that there is a battery on the rom that keeps the date and clock time,
I'm gonna try to take if off and replace it
Thanks in advance for your opinions
Bye
You just need to flash the phone with some working ROM. If the phone is not CID unlocked, you will need to look for the original rom for that phone.
The pictures show no extra-ordinary problem. What you mean is it stuck in the booting.. this may happen because of some corrupt in system files.. you can solve it by just hardresetting. if hardreset is not working try reflashing the rom. But becareful not flash with wrong rom and be sure to super cid if the rom not a original one.
Solved
In fact I made the mistake to push the power button to long (more than 1 second)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363680&highlight=reset
to hard reset your phone
Turn off phone, press both softkeys and then press the powerbutton for exactly one second!
Thanks Guys
and thanks for the forum

[Q] Boot Password Problem

Hi all, after switching on my Asus tf101 today i have been prompted to type in a password before it will boot. this has appeared from no actions/installs that i can think off, i have not even installed any new apps or updates in a few days now.
I have tried to resolve this problem with google searches but have unfortunately found nothing relating to this issue, the only additional info i can provide is where it asks "enter your password" there is a small Android droid with what looks like its a tool belt around its waist.
I have attempted a long press restart which has not resolved the issue, there is no SD card installed, and to my knowledge no security software has been installed that might have caused this.
Help appreciated
edit: have tried using all my standard passwords it could be and all failed
also using standard rom and never tried rooting it
Can you take some pics and upload to an image site?

thats all that shows, when turning to portrait it does not show anything extra just that one password box.
cheers
You may be the answer to some peoples prayers m8. Post in the android 2.2 thread HERE and show them your pic. They can probably help you out.
have posted to it, fingers crossed we can help each other out, ill hold off any recovery attempts until they have checked it out but if in mean time anybody has recomendations on how to resolve please make your suggestions and ill try them once iv heard from the guys doing the 2.2 project.
Nice one. It sucks that your new device is like that though, but maybe some good will come out of it.
Happened to me yesterday. What were you doing before this happened? I was trying to go into recovery and accidentally kicked off a data wipe. I had to power it off and do a data wipe so it would boot again.
i was using the camera earlier this morning, but nothing else, i simply put it on and it appeared .
setup adb, unfortunatly my device does not allow su commands to run
This happened to me the first time I powered up my Transformer out of the box. I called customer service and they promted me to do a factory reset. It really sucks when you turn on your device for the first time and you are prompted to input a password.

Same problem
Got my transformer today worked for about half an hour then when I turned it on was greeted by the password prompt. Please Help. OP have you had any luck?

[Q] Unknown Baseband?

I'm on the latest stable CM7 with Trinity's kernel. I decided I'd see if a Virgin Mobile Sim would work so I put it in and, it didn't. No biggie. I put my old (Wind) Sim card back in and it now can't find any networks.
It says, "Error while searching for networks." When I take the sim out and turn the phone back on, it doesn't recognize that there is no sim and the same error message pops up. The Baseband version is now, Unknown Anyone know what's wrong and any solutions?
Thanks in advance,
Juf

Turn off phone. Remove the battery. Press the power key to make sure the phone is drained completely. Replace battery with correct sim. Turn back on and hope for the best. Once in a while this phone gets confused and this happens. It should be okay though.

No luck, I'm going to try draining the battery and see if that helps.
I guess them version mobile sims are dangerous. This is a very strange issue.
Quick update to anyone who finds this thread through search and wants to know what happened. I ended up flashing the newest nightly which fixed the baseband issue, then I flashed the old stable release back on and that's where I am now
PS I switched back to the stable release because of that pesky low mic issue everyone is having.

[Q] Bricked S3. SWA Failed. Phone is stock! glitchy boot screen [w/pics]

Hey Guys,
I have a peculiar problem with my girlfriend's phone. I've been stumped for almost a week now trying to unbrick her phone without making an attempt to root to try other things, but here's the scenario:
Phone is completely stock.
One day she came home and her phone was stuck at the Verizon screen.
I'm not sure what version was her Rom prior to the brick, but the phone recently told her there was an update about a month ago. She installed the other updates prior to this one.
I ultimately ended up performing a factory reset, and a cache wipe from the recovery, and it still wouldn't get past the Verizon Splash Screen.
I then used the Verizon Repair Assistant as suggested by many members on the forum, and it looked good for a second. It started updating all the apps, and survived past the splash screen, and into the welcome screen to get started. I started the activation process and boom, the phone reboots itself. I noticed something strange about the boot screen though. It started to look like it's glitching out.

This one is like VZW's version of the Nyan Cat! Ha.
I then tried the Odin route, Installing VZW-I535VRUCNC1-20140430102617 onto the phone. Same result.
The last thing i tried while writing this thread was removing the AIM, and attempting the no activation WiFi, which it ultimately did take me back into the phone...
I moved fast enough where I was taken back into the UI, but I would see errors like
"Unfortunately Samsung Keyboard has Stopped"
I was able to swipe around on the screen for a bit before it froze, but the weird thing is when i press on the softkeys, I could still hear the water drop sounds. Then it would either go back through it's boot looping, or it would shut down. Pressing the power button won't work here, and only a battery pull would allow it to go through the boot cycle again.
I feel like a noob still, even after being able to successfully root 3 generations of the Samsung Galaxy Phones, (Epic, S3, and S5.) but I'm totally stumped on this one.
Seems like something is locking it up,
Any help would be appreciated, and if you are local (Silicon Valley, Bay Area), I'll buy you a coffee, or a beer. hah. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance!
Anyone?

SystemUI Crashing at Random and other weird behavior

Hey all,
My Pixel 3 standard started freaking out today. I have initiated an exchange, yet thought perhaps someone may have had/fixed similar issues. I was in the middle of playing a game and my screen kept shutting off. I closed the application and found that SystemUI was crashing at random intervals, which is what was causing the screen to blank. The phone was also very slow at this time and wouldn't respond to several inputs. I also had a few instances where the phone opened random apps on its own. I tried going into safe mode and I don't seem to experience the issue. I am presently unrooted and on the latest November OTA. I've also tried removing any apps that updated today as that's when the issues started.
I've started the exchange process, yet it's five days out for a replacement and it's going to be painful to be without a fully functional phone for that amount of time.
Any ideas of what to try? I thought perhaps crash logs, yet I'm not sure which to parse...
Thanks!
I too started seeing System UI isn't responding message. Tapping to wake the phone or pressing hardware buttons had a delay in both normal mode and safe mode. I tried reapplying an OTA image from December and same result. So I tried Factory image vs OTA image, same result. Turned off always on display to see if that improved. Same result. Removed any case and screen protector to see if that was contributing, but same result.
I'm having a harder time getting google to initiate the exchange as I bought my device off swappa and can't access the original owner's email or order id. Never thought that was needed - until now. Buyer beware. I bought pixel 1 and 2 straight from google, but went secondhand with the pixel 3. My mistake.

Have you factory restored?
I have tried to factory reset my phone and I'm still having this problem.
It happens at random when getting an incoming call, I can't see the caller screen, the UI is frozen, can't silence it pressing the buttons, can't wake up the screen until the phone decides to let me use it.
It's so annoying.
I am stuck with this issue during this lockdown, can somebody help? Or tell me what worked for them?
