Respected forum members -
Can anyone point me towards information on how (or whether it is possible) to install multiple versions of ActiveSync (versions 3.8 and 4.5) in Windows XP?
I still use an older WinCE 3.0 device (Casio E-125) alongside my HTC Touch Pro (Raphael), and need to be able to synchronize both devices with my desktop PC. The older device is not recognized in ActiveSync 4.5, nor are various necessary file conversion options available for the Casio there; the newer device is not recognized in ActiveSync 3.8.
[Yes, I have Googled the query - to no avail.] Thanks, in advance!
you should be using ActiveSync 3.8 for your casio and WMDC (windows mobile device center) for your raphael.
you can find a link in the GUIDES thread in the Q&A section.

Thanks for your reply. However, the Touch Pro manual specifies the use of WMDC only for Windows Vista users. Are you saying that it can also be used in Windows XP [Professional SP-3]?
I'll check out the guides thread that you mentioned.
EDITED: It is as I remembered. WMDC is for Vista installations (only), not XP. The request for help is continued.
my bad.. didn't notice the XP thing
Insight?
Can anyone else shed some light on this thread's question?

I Have JASJAR With WM5
What's My Problem ?
Thanks.
Your problem is windows vista, the drivers that come with WMDC are not compatible with the upgrade program. You need to either use XP or get the drivers from Activesync and install them instead of the WMDC drivers.
Thanks .
But From Where I Can Download Drivers ?
Read his post again.
get the drivers from Activesync
Meaning, use Activesync.

Do you mean install Activesync in Vista? Is that possible? Will Activesync run with Vista?

Hi there, my smartphone Tornado (SP5m) won't be detected properly on my Windows 2003 server (w/o SP1), USB drivers seems to be the problem... can someone send me their drivers (via link, PM, etc) so I can test using those drivers instead. I definitely want to sync my Outlook contacts to my smartphone...
Any help would be appreciated, thank you all for your time!

I use Windows 2003 server and I never had any problems with ActiveSync v4.5. If you connect your phone after installing ActiveSync, it will be detected as an RNDIS device.
Do you have the latest ActiveSync update?
It works fine on XP SP2 and Vista but not with my Windows 2003 server ?!
It sure detects it as an RDNIS device and then it tries to install the drivers, then I need to click on "Continue Anyway" (because those drivers have not passed the Windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with this version of Windows) and then an error comes up saying "Cannot install this hardware" (see attached picture)
Does yours have SP1 installed?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
Yes, I have SP1 and all latest updates installed. I'm sorry but I never had had this problem and I don't know how to assist you. You can try removing the drivers and reinstalling ActiveSync 4.5.
I had a similar problem once on XP SP2, not sure if it will assist you, but in my case my mini-USB cable became some what defective, in a way that it did not let the PC identify the mobile even though it DID see when i connected it!

Can you please send me your driver (.inf) so I can try yours instead?
Okay, so I have read the wiki... I am using an AT&T Tilt.
The ROM upgrading sections on the wiki give very detailed instructions for flashing, CID unlocking, etc, but it's all using Activesync. Activesync does not run on Windows Vista.
I do have an old XP box I can use at home, but I was kind of hoping to take my laptop to work and do it there. My laptop runs Vista.
Is there a way to do this using Vista or is XP the only way?
yes, you can do everything on vista, here's my guide for flashing:

I think karhoe moved everything to his blog. The Vista instructions are embedded in the pictorial. I don't think you can SuperCID in Vista.
FYI, I've used the Windows XP mode within Windows 7 RC and it works great for ROM flashing since, unlike, Virtual PC 2007, the new Virtual Windows XP can access the USB ports.
