Activesync on Windows 2003 server? - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hi there, my smartphone Tornado (SP5m) won't be detected properly on my Windows 2003 server (w/o SP1), USB drivers seems to be the problem... can someone send me their drivers (via link, PM, etc) so I can test using those drivers instead. I definitely want to sync my Outlook contacts to my smartphone...
Any help would be appreciated, thank you all for your time!

I use Windows 2003 server and I never had any problems with ActiveSync v4.5. If you connect your phone after installing ActiveSync, it will be detected as an RNDIS device.
Do you have the latest ActiveSync update?

It works fine on XP SP2 and Vista but not with my Windows 2003 server ?!
It sure detects it as an RDNIS device and then it tries to install the drivers, then I need to click on "Continue Anyway" (because those drivers have not passed the Windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with this version of Windows) and then an error comes up saying "Cannot install this hardware" (see attached picture)
Does yours have SP1 installed?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty

Yes, I have SP1 and all latest updates installed. I'm sorry but I never had had this problem and I don't know how to assist you. You can try removing the drivers and reinstalling ActiveSync 4.5.

I had a similar problem once on XP SP2, not sure if it will assist you, but in my case my mini-USB cable became some what defective, in a way that it did not let the PC identify the mobile even though it DID see when i connected it!

Window Mobile Device Center Problem...I need Your Help!!!

Dear All
I have a very strange problem here...i was using the Jwright WM6 rom till this morning with no sccuess in getting it to connect to my Vista laptop by all means...the only thing i could do is to connect to my desktop pc which has Windows XP & it connects succefully...so i thaught it's something related to the crossbow not being compatible with vista WMDC
Till this morning a friend came to me with his Universal running Jwright 1.90.96 WM5 to install a program so i connected to the Vista WMDC & it worked like a charm...so i downgraded mine to the same WM5 version he is running & i was shocked when it didn't connect & kept trying to connect till it gave me red error sign with no explanation
I used the same USB port, the same original cable on the same laptop under the same windows user...
Any explanation for that????!!!
I really need to sync with my vista laptop as it's my main PC at both work & home...
Thanks All
Have you updated WMDC from beta3, coz that has sorted alot of problems. If yes, try creating another user account, or try logging in as an admin, and connect wm device from there.
otherwise, REINSTALL VISTA, sorry to tell you that, but this is the easiest and the quickest way some times. and i mean it...
What kind of built of Vista are you running?

i'm using windows vista ultimate 6.6.6000 build 6000

Upgrade To Jwrightmcps 2.02.02

I Try To Do It , But It Cannot Upgrade.
My PC Uses Windows Vista Ultimate With Windows Mobile Device Center
I Have JASJAR With WM5
What's My Problem ?
Thanks.
Your problem is windows vista, the drivers that come with WMDC are not compatible with the upgrade program. You need to either use XP or get the drivers from Activesync and install them instead of the WMDC drivers.
Thanks .
But From Where I Can Download Drivers ?
Read his post again.
get the drivers from Activesync
Meaning, use Activesync.

Do you mean install Activesync in Vista? Is that possible? Will Activesync run with Vista?

Need Getting Started CD

OK, a search on this gave me everything so I have to start this thread asking for a copy of the Getting Started CD. Sorry if it's already been discussed.
I can't get my pda to sync via usb. I deselect the "Enable advanced network functionality" and it still doesn't connect. Can someone post it or does anyone know where I can download one online? I'm hoping it has the correct drivers (Vista 64).
For vista you don't need the getting started CD... only the Windows Mobile Device center installed... also after the initial connection the Windows update should download it autimatically.

That's what all the instructions seem to say. I've uninstalled the existing devices, connected, installed, disconnect, uninstalled the device, install, etc and I still cannot get my pda to connect via usb. Can't seem to figure it out.
Check if activesync (on the PDA) connection settings... It should be set to connect via USB... Also you can download the WMDC from the M$ site...

Yeap, did them both. To get USB as a cradle connection option in ActiveSync in the PDA, I have to select the "Enable advanced network functionality". However, if I do this, I cannot make a connection. I remember when I had my HTC TC, I had to deselect the "Enable advanced network functionality" in order to sync via USB. But when you do this, you don't get the option to sync via USB when cradled.
I think I'm missing the USB modem driver. I'm found the zip file but I'm still looking for installation instructions.
And I think you should reinstall your OS, because there are some serious issues on your side...

OS meaning PDA OS? I did that 3 times, twice with cooked WM6.1 and once back to WM2003. I was able to establish connection with my factory WM2003.
nah... I ment the Vista (did I mention a hard reset anywhere?)... in my school, we have several verisons (ultimate, business,...), i386, x64 alike and we didn't have any problems like the one you described...
Worth a try...
Try download and manually (instead of through Windows Update) the Windows Mobile Device Center v6.1 update for x64 versions of Vista.
Visit this link to download them:

Yeap, did that too. Thanks though, it's appreciated.
I wonder if it's my firewall settings. Time to explore that option. I remember the old ActiveSync sometimes required manual fixes to the firewall.
Guys - I'm going to end this thread because I guess the thread title doesn't accurately identifies my issue and I don't want to double post elsewhere.

Sync with PC

hi,
i own a htc cruise but the problem is i do not know what should I install in order to transfer the file or sync with outlook contact using cable from my cruise to pc or vice versa. I already install activesync and it does not work. The status is not connected and everytime I plug in the device via usb cable, it gives me error, device not recognize.
help me. what should I install? thank you.
Hope you have installed Active sync
Hi,
I think you need to instal Active sync. This is available on the CD which comes with TC. Otherwise here is the link to download.

Hope this helps.

If you have Windows Xp see previous post. In Vista you need:
for vista 32 bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=46f72df1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914
for vista 64 bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...56-7825-43B2-AC89-2030ED98ED95&displaylang=en

Windows 7

A hot to for anyone who makes the same mistake as me. You can't (or I couldn't) flash from Windows 7. I tried all day following the guide on here incase I was doing something wrong, however soon as I tried with XP, it worked first shot.
Now that I understand this system I will do a tiny bit of work to see if I can get it to work under 7, unless somebody already know the trick?
usb drivers? did activesync or WMDC install correctly on Win 7?

yeah, it comes with the latest version of WMDC / active sync. USB drivers were installed from Windows update so it would sync with the device.
The difference I noticed is when the XP would send the Treo to the bootloader (red, blue, green, white), the Host computer would recognise a 'HTC usb Hub' or something of the like.
Ya. I did it to my Treo 750 through Windows 7. Just follow the isnstructions here. It also doesn't work on vista unless you follow these steps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511763
On Step 2 it says this is only for Vista users, but follow those steps too.
