THANK for this

Could this fix when Gmail just decides to stop sending all of a sudden? I know that this happens frequently for me and for my g/f's mom (who owns a Samsung Blackjack II).

This would be good and on a side issue it could help us (me...) understand how the remodule thing works if the experienced chefs (or at least the ones who now how to remodule stuff?) showed us how to remodule a .dll. The original 'mailtrns.dll' dumped from an official ROM is moduled, this hotfix is just a file so I would be really grateful of an explanation on how to rework this file into a module for cooking into a ROM.
Andy

Re-worked new 'mailtrns.dll' into ROM and re-moduled it....
I currently use Alex's Kitchen (V5) to cook my ROMs and it has been excellent. I dumped the original official HTC 5.2.19212 ROM and use this as a base. As I said I wanted to cook this MS update into my ROM but remodule the new 'mailtrns.dll' file (and obviously just overwriting the mail-providers.mxl file).
I attempted to use the 'package-creator-v2.7' tool which converts the .cab to an OEM and gives you the option to remodule .exe, .dll and .mui files which it did. However just relpacing the files in the \SYS\BaseApps folder didn't work. So I had another search on the whole module thing and still couldn't find any tutorials I could understand, but I did find some posts on the BuildOS and PkgTools. I noticed in the 'PkgToolsBuildos-4.3b1.exe' there is the option to Remodule Packages. So as an experiment I deleted the original 'mailtrns.dll' folder (module) and 'Mail-Providers.xml' file from the \SYS\BaseApps folder and copied in the replacement files 'mailtrns.dll' and 'Mail-Providers.xml'. I then used the 'PkgToolsBuildos-4.3b1.exe' to remodule the files in this folder and then used the older tools and batch files (buildos+package_tools-2.7.exe) to create a new ROM - and it all works
I have since used the same technique to remodule other packags and again they are all working. I still don't know why or how, or what the benefits of modules over files in the packages are, however I seem to recall modules were better due to how memory is allocated or something
If anyone wants to explain all this or post a link to somewhere that does I would be grateful.
The short version is I have re-worked this update into my kitchen based on the official HTC 5.2.19212 ROM and have remoduled it like the original file (mailtrns.dll) it replaces.

Few question about upgrading W2K3 to W2K5

i've heard that WM2003 in himalaya gadget can be uprade to WM2005, it's very interesting and i going to try the uprade, but i have some question about the upgrade, my question is:
1. what's the risk during upgrading? could my device occuring some permanent error?
2. what's the consequence of this? will my device working slower? or working faster?
3. if i don't satisfy with the WM2005 can i downgrade back to the WM2003 OS?
please help me by answering my question
Response:
1. the device may fail, but you can restart the whole process entering the device in bootloader mode and upgrading (happen to me once)
2.Your device will work Faster but sometimes (at boot sequence) will be slower.
that's the price you have to pay. Other thing is there is no MMS in WM5 (dont work for me) and some camera issues, that can be fixed. But is more eye-candy than the WM2003 or 2003SE.
3. If you aint satisfied you can go back to 2003SE just putting the device in bootloader mode and then making the upgrade using a WM2003 ROM (the nbf file)
One thing: Tofclock and Buzz (thanks guys!) are working hard to bring us one stable, better and faster WM5 ROM, so be quiet and wait like me
Hi guys,
I ve also heard that after you upgrade to Wm 5.0 the phone vibratin wont work, is that true?
what else then?
Thanks
Hi dickyw,
my vibration on my Himalaya works perfect...
Hi Guys,
Can anyone help another dumb newbie?
I upgraded my Himalaya to W2k5 OK from the O2 exe file, but I now want to downgrade to 2003 SE.
The folder I am trying to use to downgrade is WindowsMobile2003SE_XDA2_2.20.00CHS-translated.zip
Himaupgradeut.exe gives:- Error 120 Country ID error 1-1-8-n-1
HimaupgradeUt_noid.exe gives:- Error 103 ROM image file not found
XDA image tool gives me:-Unsupported file format error for NK.nbf
I have:-
Boot loader 1.06
CE image 1.72.00
Extended image 1.72.181
Radio image 1.17.00
Am I using the wrong tools, the wrong ROM or an incorrect procedure? I'm doing this for a friend so it's getting very embarassing. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
Another issue to aware of when upgrading to WM5 is that you need to also upgrade to Activesync 4.1 as 3.8 won't work any more. Given that AS can be very tempremental it may take some time to get the sync link back up and working to your satisfaction so if your data is cruitial to your work then backup, backup, backup and upgrade when you have a few days free to dedicate to ironing out any wrinkles.
Then also xbackup doesn't work in WM5 so you are left with options like buying the latest Sprint backup soiftware (now WM5 compatible) or relying upon your PC Outlook to be your "backup data" (NB I use the Outlook free "backup" util to back up my pst files on exiting Outlook as double insurance).
Regards - Mallow1
PS I upgraded and v glad I did. Had a few AS issues but eventuall got there (took a lot of reading of forums and As battles, but worth it in the end)
cnimike,
One assumes that you have unzipped the zip file first before trying to reflash? If not try that (say use winzip). Also try reading the wiki as a guide to what to do (seee link attop left of page).
You are also best o use the HimaupgradeUt_noid.exe as at least it avoids the first error (esle you'll have to edit the flash files first and recompile them which is straight forward but if you are a noobie it's a step that can be avoided by using the "...noid.exe") and if you haven't unzipped the said file doing that may well sort out your second error.
Get back to me if you need more help.

I would suggest getting a hold of Sin's merged version (details in signature) or XDA2JoJo's version. Simply flash the ROM and you are there. Elsewhere, SIN has set out the steps in the most detailed fashion you are going to see outside a software manufacturer's manual.

Office 2007 cab

Ok i have been able to get it installed just keeps bugging me about certification. Anyone got any idea as to how to fix this?
Did you make a cab from the dump of one the roms?
Good luck with your endeavours to make an office 2007 cab. I heard this isnt possible because it has to be cooked into the rom....

Ya the only way of it working is to cook as you can not override the old office!!! Or you would have two different offices on your phone!
Well, even when i do cook it into the rom it gives me the cert issue. Any ideas? And the sad part is, when i cook it into the rom, OneNote works perfectly without error. LOL. I must be missing something.

Everything except onenote? that's really strange. I have imported mun rom's office package into faria latest real thing with no problem, and needless to say on mun's rom it's also working fine. If your moving the package to another rom dump the only thing that comes to mind is to make sure that you update/replace all office files. Another thing is the office suite opening at all, or does it give you the security warning and exit?
if its possible to create the office why dont u remove the files from the rom to start off with then install the cab

What if you cooked your rom without office, could you install it to the SD card?! Save space in your rom cooking, and save storage in your device!
I am waiting to flash my rom, but I am gonna try this. And yes I will pull the package from the ROM.
Oem Files Working On Wizard
Here you have all the files for Office 2007 mobile, tested and working on my Wizard (English), just copy EVERYTHING on \Windows and reset, if you can make me a cab installer will be perfect.... Enjoy and chears!!!
Thanks bfjosue, but why the files are very small.
Your ppt.exe is only 26.1 KB.
Same as excel and word mobile.
The real binaries (pword.exe etc.) are missing. It just uses the old Office binaries. So no, it is not Office 2007...

Fix for the Incompatible NETCF v2.0, v3.5 and SQL problem

While the WM6.0 and WM6.1 edited ROMs with the newest NETCF v3.5 come
out one by one, most of them have a problem of incompatible NETCF and SQL with some softwares.
< For example >
Software 1. " Six Law" -------> e-book database of law, sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab is needed for it (also installed manually)
Software 2. " All-In-Me" ------> business software, sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab and sql.wce4.armv4.cab are needed for it (also installed manually)
After the two softwares mentioned above installed and run,
I keep getting the error message listed below:
System.IO.FileLoadException : Could not load file or assembly
'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=3be235df1c8d2ad3, Retargetable=Yes'
or one of its dependencies.
The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
After the discussion in this thread (especially thanks to juju-35), we get a
solution to fix that problem. List as below:
For people who need the solution to fix the incompatible NETCF and SQL,
Just collect the files mentioned here and install according to the instructions.
1. NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab-----> I don't know why I couldn't upload this file
But you can get this file (about 2.13MB) from forum or download the
NETCFSetupv2.msi (about 37.1MB) from Microsoft website.
After installing NETCFSetupv2.msi on PC, you can get the cab
"NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab" from :
C:/Program Files/Microsoft.NET/SDK/CompactFramework/V2.0 /WindowsCE/WCE500/armv4i
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it.
2. sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab -------> I have uploaded this file
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it. It provides the assembly
of 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0.
3. NetCFConfig.zip -------> I have uuploaded this file
Unzip this file and you get a folder. Copy the folder to Kaiser's main
memory. The folder has NetCFCfg.exe and two .dll files(ARM version) in it.
Then run " NetCFCfg.exe " and you can see the configure screen as below:
Four menus:
About ----> Show the .Net Compact Framework versions installed
You should see 2.0.6129.0 and 3.5.7283.0
GAC-------> Show all the Assemblies installed in the Global Assembly Cache
Device Policy----> In this menu, you can set the default NetCF to v3.5.7283
and click Apply button.
Application Policy----> Here you can override device policy for applications.
That is you can choose which software to run with
NetCF v2.0.6129. Then click apply button.
After that, enjoy!!!
If anyone occurs any other special situation, please post it here for discussion.

Is there any way to have downward compatible?
Maybe the sqlserverce is in the rom files so we can't made any modification to them.
i dont see my rom listed
I've had the same problem with many of the new wm6 and wm6.1 rooms
the program i use is pocket e-sword which requires SQLCE 2.0 or sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab
the 2 wm 6.1 roms i've tried that works is sleuth's (which i'm currently on) and austinsync's hybrid.
i've tried laurentius, udk, dutty's wm6.1 all can't..

Laurentius26 has released a new WM6.1 ROM~ L26 WM 6.1 Professional WWE V5.
It's fully compatible with Sqlce. I' ve tried this ROM and I like it very much.
Thank you my friend,

it was easy to take out the Sqlce from one of these

Not sure if you've realized the pattern, but the incompatible ROMs are the ones which have upgraded to NetCF 3.5 and SQLCE 3.5.
The ones that are not incompatible have NETCF 2.0 and SQLCE 3.0 just like the shipped ROM.
Hope this helps!
Your not completely right here!
I do have NetCF 3.5 running and my V5 ROM is compatible!
It was the first thing that I was thinking as well btw.

Was informing the original Op. It seems like you're the only person who tried to make any changes as everyone else has pretty much stayed clear of this thread.
Craig, I'm surprised you even listed my beta2 UltraClean ROM since it doesn't even have NetCF 3.5 SQL CE installed, hence UltraClean. You could always install Sql CE 3.0 and it won't be a problem. That's why I offer so many variants.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Alex, your rom is also very nice. The only one issue I occurred is that
after installing the E-book database of law I got an error message
as follows,
The file 'SLink' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try
reinstalling or restoring this file.
I have installed sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab and NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab manually,
but still got the error message.
Sorry that I didn't describe this in the first post.

Hello,
If your problem(s) come form the .NET CF 2.0 vs 3.5, which I think was mentioned to be the problem for esword in particular, there was actually a workaround posted in Quentin's ROM thread. I ran into the same problems with some of my cabs, I did the changes suggested in the thread, and it worked for me.
Basically, these were the steps:
1- Flash any ROM that has .NET CF 3.5 (most ROMs these days)
2- Install .NET on your PC (needed for step 3, I found out!). Can be dowloaded form Microsoft website.(Install file called NETCFSetup35.msi)
3- Install .NET power toys from MS. (File called NETCF-v35PowerToys.msi)
4- Install .NET v.20 on your PPC (cabs can be found on this forum)
5- Copy Netcfg.exe and its dll (ARM version) to your PPC and run it (prog can be found in Program Files/.NET directory on your PC)
THe NEcfg.exe is a nifty utility that allows you to detect all .NET CF versions installed on your PPC, and apply a default version to all programs but setup a few programs to run on a different .NET CF (like 2.0).
This way you can have programs that would run on any versions of .NET CF installed while having msot of your programs running on the faster, newer version.
I researched this to get Zagat 2 GO ( a great restaurant guide!) to run. Runs beautifully for me on Schap's, Dutty and 5.2 Alex ROMs (the program needs CF 2.0 to run and the default on those ROMs is 3.5).
Hope this helps.

Hi Craig,
I'd like to add this as a link in the wiki. Can you edit the topic to be more appropriate now that you've found the fix? It'd also be very helpful if you were to summarize all your findings and your solution in the first post.
Thanks much!

For the fix to be activated, the NetCF Config folder should be copied
to main memory. For me, if I put the NetCF Config folder in micro SD card,
the fix doesn't work. So I copy the folder to Program Files folder in main memory.
won't install for me...
this is a great work around it seems, i still have one issue. When installing NET CF v2.0, it won't install. It gets to the very end then says "Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info: 3." .. followed by the .cab installation saying "Installation of NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab was unsuccessful"
What is the issue here? how do I fix this???
I'm running ROM 3.49.NO2.5066 (19588 WM 6.1) on Radio: 3.37.20 on an Alltel Titan

i have this problem when trying to install .net 3.5
any help on this error?

How to get the newest version of CE roe your rom? Maybe im missing something?

Ok any hints or ansewers would be greatly appreciated! How do you guys get the newest versions of CE into your roms?
I am thinking you just get the official roms and use kaiser kitchen to extract them correct? Well so far ive tried the almost official winmo 6.1 rom for at&t, ive tried ddk.05, ive also tried laurentius v9. Everytime i extract these roms all the folders OEM, SYS, and ROM are pretty much empty?! I'm not look'in to rip people off i just want to get a base version of ce wich is compatible with radio 1.65.20.29. The roms in alex's kit 3.03 and 3.02 have alot of issues with the 1.65 radios.
Ive tried everything i can think of, am i acually maybe suppose to dump the rom off the device then rebuild it? Instead of trying to extract from the .nbh?
I mean im assuming all these 3.55 roms were mogul roms at one point right? and they just copied all tytan 2 drivers over?
I also really like ddk.05 i just don't think the page pool is big enough it seems to me whenever i run the page pool tool nothing happens. I select the rom then i click the size then change too and close. But the device always reports the same amount of free memory no matter what i set the page pool too. I like i a huge page pool because i play PocketQuake and it helps speed it up. Going from 18 to 32mb page pool sped quake up 2fps. I dont usually have alot off apps open either.
Problem is that you are trying to cook a ROM from a cooked ROM. Meaning you are taking ROMS like ddk.05 which is already cooked from the member.
Alot of members are using different tools then KaiserKitchen in order to cook their roms which in turn means there will not be any .rgu's or files in many folders.
Your best bet is trying to cook a rom based off of the ATT 19213 version...just type ATT 19213 in search and look for the rom. it should be around 118mb when downloaded and extracted.
Thank you! ill do a search around for that, but im still wondering where they get these new builds of ce, do they just dump them from devices?
Oh shoot i just realized http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391708 is the build your talking about. I already downladed that and then tried to extract it with the kitchen and it was completely empty.
My XDA Live 3 Rom is based on the at&t 19213 Rom and it has the RGU files intact.
As for getting the updated OS, yes they are taking OEM Diamond Roms and extracting the files from there.

Windows Mobile 6.5 expiring, what now?

I purchased a second-hand HTC Fuze that is running:
OS Version 5.2.23515 (23515.5.50)
Manilla Version 2.1.19202517
Rom Version 18 Jan 2010 WWE
Radio Version 1.14.2535
Protocol Version 52.64c.25.35H
I received a warning message on 04-01-10 that said, "This copy of Windows Mobile will expire in 30 days on 05-01-10." What do I do now?

You need to flash a new ROM; I guess that the person who cooked that one didn't fix the time-bomb. Just go to the Raph rom development forum and pick whatever you want. You may want to get another 235xx build-I'm sure there are plenty. Do it now, before you lose all your data.
I guess it's possible that the timebomb is only for Office 2010, and not for the entire ROM. You could test this by first doing a full system backup and then advancing the date a month to see if the entire device croaks on you or just Office. The newer versions of Office 2010 in the 235xx branch aren't time-bombed. You'll need to upgrade to get a stable version, anyway.
Probably the OS, not Office.
Unfortunately, I'm thinking that's referring to the O.S, not Office 2010. At least, the error I got on my ROM in the wee hours of this morning. (235xx-based ROM from WoZZer by way of Lioryte). What's funny is that it allowed me to hit "snooze" and the warning doesn't come up now when I did a soft reset.
Someone over at Modaco has suggested that there's a registry entry that can be modded to fix this problem, but as of this morning there were no suggestions on what to change the key(s) to.

Sounds like a timebomb as stated above. Just follow flashing process for the HTC fuze and flash another rom of your choice
I doubt a registry tweak will fix this for you; there is a registry key that puts a watermark on the Today/Home/Start Menu screens, but removing it won't change the time-bomb, which is coded into shell.exe (maybe shell32.exe). The key is like HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta, but if you don't see the watermark, then the date and 'Beta' have been removed.

One thing you can try is to copy shell32.exe from your \windows directory to your PC. Then you can use reversemod to turn shell32.exe into a module. Then use the attached patched shell32.exe, navigate to S000 inside shell32.exe module (folder), and patch it. After that, use recmod to turn it back into a file. Copy to phone and use total commander/resco explorer to overwrite the shell32.exe in \windows. I recently did this same thing as I forgot to patch the timebomb and did not feel like re-cooking a rom at the time.
Just to clarify, since we're talking a WM6.5 tweak, this should work on all phones, right?

I wish I was savvy enough to try the quoted advice but I am a stupid noob and wouldn't know where to begin. I am going to have to reflash. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise since it will force me to learn to flash.
I got this Fuze to be a back-up. We have three others in our household running the stock rom.

If you like the stock ROM, you can just download the stock ROM and Flash that also. You don't have to use a custom ROM unless that is what you want. Since the Fuze didn't come with 6.5, you would just a have a 6.1 stock ROM.
April Fools Joke?
The latest information I have on this expiration message is that it is an April Fools Joke. It is a calendar alert and not an official Microsoft notification.
I am laughing outloud over this. I never would have thought this was a joke. Most of my laughter is in relief because I am seriously loving this energy rom!!!
After studying flashing all day in preparation of reflashing maybe I'll now have the confidence to flash our other Fuzes.
Thanks everyone for the help and advice.
It may be a joke, but some of the guys over at fuzemobility got the message, and one of them advanced his date a month and the device crapped out, forcing a hard reset. (Hell, maybe that was a joke, too.) To be safe, I'd still recommend doing a full backup and bumping the date up to see if there are issues.
Can the patching process be done for 28xxx rom please or the patch is only for 23xxx?
That's more than likely NOT a joke, those builds are in fact timebombed (at that date) - so be prepared for the device to present you a message similar to "thank you for testing this version, it is now locked, please obtain a new version..."
If that occurs, you may still be able to sync up with the device to copy your files etc. off. But i would do that now before it happens if I were you
yeah, i have been out of internet for the past 5 months... mine gave this message, finally it expired, and now it wont sync... How do i flash a new rom without syncing my device

Put the device in bootloader mode, connect to PC and flash away. Or, you can also flash from SD Card.
Help
Please tell me How to patch file shell32.exe in my rom.I copied shell32.exe to PC but i didnt know how to patch it.
Truthfully, I never did see a way to successfully update the ROM to get rid of the time bomb. Plus, that was a CF03 ROM. There are a whole bunch of DC22 ROMs out there that are great, and as far as I know none of them have the time bomb intact.
You might want to just bite and flash to a new ROM.
