No one says you HAVE to install a different ROM. If you can do it better please let us know and share it! I think everybody who's creating things like programms or custom ROM's deserves to be treated with respect!
The only thing most people do is install it and wine about everything. My advice, stick with your current ROM!

Actually I share the opinion from kremo. The PDAMobiz people are some sort of pioneers in throwing out new ROMs and it would be nice if they would release "virgin" ROMs with the real stuff on it and not dump all kind of junk into it. I for my own would prefer an "virgin" ROM myself rather than one that contains a lot of crap that I won't want to use.
totally agree, let us decide what junk we want. surely it would be eaiser to test a rom if it was clean, with all this on the instability and bits that dont work could be down to any of the 101 things they have installed.
So what's the problem. Just restart your device before instal of the "crap" begins. I always do thatand after that I instal what I like from the extended rom.
Isn't there just an easy way to remove all the crap before installing and placing your cabs in there yourself?
Can't be too hard can in?
Myself I'm 'somewhere in between', I also like a clean rom more than a filled one. But then again, they make the rom so they can put in anything they like. If you want a clean rom, just wait for a modded one or clean it yourself.
As for the aku 3.3, I suppose it's interesting. Any news on what's changed and stuff? Might give this stuff a try later on if I can get it and have the time
problem is the crap isnt in the extended rom, if it were then i would be more than happy cleaning it up myself, the stuff is embedded and in many cases cant even be uninstalled.

Like mentioned before, you probalby have to make a request to become a Beta tester. We'll just have to wait a while
That is my big problem too!!!!!
I'm staying in Thailand my native language is Thai but I have never installed that PDAMobiz ROM. I sincerely respect their effort, read their new update, keep in touch, but search from here for the clean one (thanks to lvsw, Jesterz... for the clean ROM I use so far). I have never complained anything about junk soft in PDAMobiz board, here neither because I know that there is the argument we usually see all the time... "if you don't like, make it yourself". Yes I'm the one who wanna be a cooker but I know my potential. I did something as much as I can but it's just only the bug reporter level.
Just my 2 cents
Hi,
1) All customised ROMs are not official. They are usually based on official or customised ROMs for other type of device. They may have some bugs. Even the official ROMs do have bugs.
2) When people customise their ROMs, they modify the ROMs in some way to make them work for their devices. They may also put anything in the ROMs to their liking. What do you really mean by a clean ROM ??? is it the official ROM clean ? Diferent ROM vendors make different ROMs even for the same type of device. Some do not include many extra programs, but some do.
Do you complian about the extra (junk) things the ROM vendors put in their ROMs???
3) The main reason people embed things in the ROM is to save the device storage space. What is in the ROM is not taking any usable space of your device. The more things you put in the ROM, the more usable space you have available for other to-be-installed programs.
4) If you do not like programs embedded in the ROM, just do not use them. If they are not loaded, they are not running, the ROM has kind of the same state of that does not have them embedded in the ROM at all.
Even they are embedded in the ROM, you still have a choice to load them or not, without uninstalling them.
Again just my 2 cents

The official ROMs might have bugs no doubt, but they are official. Whenever we find some bugs we can report them or the service providers help desk can confirm whether they are bugs or not.

If people make their own customized ROMs then its ok, but please stop pulling all kind of junk ROMs to the public and have experimental users brick their PocketPC's. In my former times as PALM User and Developer we only had official ROMs from PALM. There was just official 3.0, 3.1, 3.5, 4.0, 4.2 ROMs.
There is also a difference between extra junk put into ROM by my service provider that is required for proper functioning in germany for example (like correct emergency numbers 110, 112 rather than 991) or having it filled up with 50 other junk tools like PDAMobiz does.
I don't care much for PDAMobiz, when you go to their site you see their tamagochi and pokemon mentality. They have simply a different mentality and philosophy doing their business.

A 2gb SD card can be bught for 30 Euros these days. So this kind of argument is quite bull****. There remains enough RAM for the programs to execute. A ROMs place should stay what it is. The place for ROM. Not just that even PDAMobiz seems to be altering a lot of Microsoft stuff like patching around in the registry, putting their logo in the loader and add all their tamagochi and pokemon junk everywhere.
All I (and most others want) is a clean Microsoft ROM pulled down from a phone next to you with all the AKU 3.3 stuff applied to it. Then pack it together in a clean ROM and be it.
4) If you do not like programs embedded in the ROM, just do not use them. If they are not loaded, they are not running, the ROM has kind of the same state of that does not have them embedded in the ROM at all.

I don't want to use them but I also don't want to see them. Sorry for my somehow rough words here but it's how I see it.
Don't be so rough on cutomized ROMs. Some people like them, some people don't. It's up to you to decide whether to use them or not.
Bricking a phone is 100% up to the user of the device not the maker(s) of the cutomized ROM. When updating you should know you are taking a risk and should read loads of information on how to update before doing that.
When I read about people bricking their phones with a G3 rom while they have a G4 always makes me feel sorry for them, but on the other side can make me 'angry' why they just didn't take the time and properly read the forums here and gather all the needed info.
But all in all, customized roms are fun. You don't like all the crap they put in? Change it! Customize your own rom... but be careful though, because you need to know what you are doing. Put in some effort.
And don't forget, customized roms are made by volunteers for free. This can be a good thing or a bad, but that's up to everyone to decide for themselves.
imho there just shouldn't be an argument about this at all, it's what this forums is all about as long as I've been reading/using them. Customizing roms, trying to put upgrades in them, making them better. And it's the 'making them better' is what changes from dev to dev.
any of us finding the PERFECTIN in this world?
why don't we find the PLEASING

Don't Get It Anymore

Have been away for 4 weeks and I do not understand it anymore.
Wm6.1 is out, but no official HTC release, but several roms out here?
Can anybody explain?
The cooked ROMs here utilize a leaked version of 6.1. Thus 6.1 is not truly official yet.
so what is the best rom at the moment?
There isn's a best rom. different roms provide different things and you have to try them out to see what best suits your needs. Im using duttys 6.1 WWE and i love it, but you might not.

ive tried all wm6.1 roms around here (htc wwe edition) and i must say they all have big flaws (igo not working, phone getting stuck at one point, SoD behaviour, reset not working other than by stylus), some of them have workarounds, some not. If you want to stay on the safe side, choose a wm6 rom, one that suits you. if not, come join the boat and try each and every one of them until you find what you like. but trust me, you wont, the search will be neverending... its all about the sport...
for me, dutty roms were all unusable due to different errors i got. no disrespect for him or his work, most people love his roms and i use his cabs from his collection (thanks a lot for gathering that). so u have to just try them on...

it all depends.. it's all personal preference.
Best way to decide is just to try it all out yourself.
Dutty's is most popular for the most part. Radio depends on your area etc.
I can't believe you have 150 posts and post a question like that. You should know already that everyone has their own opinion on what is the best rom. I will let you know that Dutty seems to be the most popular roms, but I don't use any of his roms cause I cook my own.
Just giving you a heads up on these forums. We have a lot of new people in here and a lot of these new people ask the same questions as you did.
i noticed that the radio performance varries by area also?
the best rom, which came bundled with the best radio, was removed from the Internet by HTC.
It had full dual core utilization, 3d drivers, multi-touch capability, flash 3, and ran Mac OSX.
I think it was called you_should_know_better v1.24.2234

Sorry for the dumb question. Just got the Kaiser to try out for a few days only and am travelling. Just don't have the time to really evaluate the phone (not an excuse really). Have to return it if I don't like it. Hence the question to get the best feel. If I had more time with the phone, I would try them all.

You are travelling and willing to mess with your phone - you have GUTS man!
You know that if you mess with the phone you will most likely NOT be able to return it without putting it back to the shape it was in BEFORE you hosed with it?
All of that from someone who sounds like he has not done this before?

We have new ManilaTV tab cab. Why no new Document tab or eReader tab cabs?

Well as the title says, we have a cab for ManilaTV tab. Would love for cabs to come out for the Document tab and the new eReader tab (in 2.07 rom). Some of us dont want to flash custom roms and would prefer new tabs via cab entry. It was possible for ManilaTV so I guess we need time for the other new tabs to make it to cabs.
After flashing many many customs roms on my Blackstone and having it become slower and slower (due to remnents of previous rom files) I have vowed not to flash any custom roms and only flash offical roms
Lets hope the clever chaps on here can cab them up

ROM flashing performs a total rewrite of the ROM and then a hard reset. It's not actually possible for anything to be left over from a previous ROM.
If the ROMs were slower then it is because the ROMs were slower - end of. A lot of custom ROMs are actually faster than stock ROMs, so if it's the speed of your device that you're interested in, test more custom ROMs.
Sorry for the rant, but you're pretty much slating one of the biggest communities on xda and basically putting people off making their phones better with your misinformation.

I am sorry but I have had first hand experience of constant flashing of roms on my Blackstone. I have flashed many cooked roms and then finally flashed back to the official shipped stock rom and even then it was much slower than when I first bought it - even with the same rom. I went full circle.
MysticGenius says it simply: "Over the last couple of weeks, as all of us flashing junkies are continuously flashing devices there has been an increase in "Strange Problems" which to all intents and purposes are just “clog ups” and “bad flashes” etc"
This was why the MTTY thread came into existence - to totaly CLEAN the phone before flashing a rom. MTTY is used to clear the bootloader flags and to format the internal flashdisk for a perfect rom flash. If, as you say, it is not possible for anything to be left over from a previous rom, then you better break the bad news in the MTTY thread that they are wasting their time
I am in no way saying not to flash a cooked rom. All I am saying is (in my experience) by flashing many roms over and over, it will cause some slow down as I experienced. The best thing to do is not to rush to install a cooked rom. Wait and read up on the thread and do your research of which rom is for you. Try to get it right first time by waiting and waiting until you feel the rom is bug free and stable by reading the relevant posts.
I paid 500 pounds for my phone and I am not making the same mistake as I did with m Blackstone.

So why don't you do what you said by doing a total CLEAN b4 reflashing a cooked ROM that why you are sure that nothing is still lurking in the internal flashed.
Well, next time i flash a cooked ROM, I'll definitely do this.

Then you definitely should try Freda. It supports the same ePub format as the HTC eReader , except that it doesn't allow you to read DRM protected ePub-books (and doesn't support pinch-to-zoom). Except for these two things, Freda is definitely superior to the HTC eReader. It has much more options, such as use your own fonts for books, define the way you want to navigate through pages (yes it also works with gestures), built-in library to which you can easily add books etc. etc.
...And another plug for the free AIReader, I've tried every e-book reader and this one blows me away!

Making rom's

Can anybody give me a guide to get started ?
would really appreciate the help thx
What device are you trying to cook for?
You may want to get started by downloading a kitchen for your device. I recommend PPCKitchen since it is really easy to use and it comprehends a lot of the newer devices. Good luck!
its a rare device the samsung c6625, does the kitchen work for that ?
i dont think there is a kitchen out for that :/
I really doubt it.
Can this device use custom roms? (can it be unlocked)?
well im not really sure there doesnt seem to be any roms out for it. Its very similar for the black jack 2...almost identical specs

If it isn't unlockable, you may want to stay away from flashing or attempting to do anything to the device if you do not know what you are doing. You can seriously damage your device or completely brick it.
