Has tmobile realized what were doing - General Questions and Answers

i just got my phone for Christmas i live in the UK, i have rc8, im on a flext 30 contract with t mobile obviously
now i understand that google wants us to have root access but t mobile doesn't so if i downgrade with the new method to rc7 and install a modified version of rc8 will t mobile know this is happening and stop it in anyway thank you and sorry if im being a noob

By refering to root i'm guessing you are talking about linux (so the g1)? You never said what phone you had.

t mobile dash

hi all....ok 3 things i would like answers for if someone could help me.
1. i have the t mobile dash and i am running wm5.it is unlocked and i wish to upgrade it to wm6.now i know on the t mobile website they have the upgrade for free but u have to have a t mobile number in order to get the upgrade.i live in Ireland and we don't have that here.i am with o2.just wondering is it possible for me to get wm6 and will i have to pay for it.
2.is it really worth upgrading it too wm6.
3. does anyone know if i can get this for free an were to get it..thanks very much...
a search here on this site would provide the answers to all of your questions.
1) yes... it's possible. no you wouldn't have to pay for it. (make sure that unless you're cid unlocked too (not the same as sim unlocked) you get the tmobile update and not one of the other non-tmobile roms).
2) depends on who you ask. the majority of folks though have made the upgrade. the advantages seems to outweigh any issues.
3) yes. search here for it.
I would recommend searching for the Rogers rom - You will have to enter the settings for your specific carrier after you flash it, though.

unlocking phone

Hi guys, I hope this is the right area to post this, sorry I am fairly new and couldn't find a better place
I have a samsung spica gt i5700 and a few months ago I flashed the firmware so now I have android 2.2 on it. Yesterday I changed network provider and moved to 3 (from Tmobile) so my tmobila number will be unusable tomorrow the latest. What the idiots at tmobile failed to tell me is that the phone is locked to a t mobile simcard, so I can't use the other sim. I need to unlock the phone so I asked t mobile and they want £15 and 28 days to do it - unreasonable. Walked in the local off-license-unlocking-hut and the guy tried but it didn't manage to unlock it because he said that having flashed the operating system makes things complicated and he said he can't do it.
So now, can anybody kindly let me know how I get my phone unlocked please, any guide or anybody who can walk me through the process please?
thank you

Huawei U9200

Hello xda! I'm just another fellow newb here. So on to my topic, I would like to know that if im in Canada with wind mobile and I flash a Chinese rom, will it say I'm roaming because I'm not in China? And will flashing the b508/b226 firmware (official non rooted) void my warranty? And also do I have to unlock my sim before I can do this? Or can I just go ahead, install the Chinese rom and change the language to English? I don't care about the software much as i can add missing apps in later, I'm just worried that the device may not even work as a phone after I do this ( I'm worried the cellphone radio would be searching for Chinese providers and frequencies and wouldnt work on wind mobile-they won't return or exchange it) I'm not so sure about wind refusing to fake it back because I didn't root the phone and I only updated to a not yet OTA update. And can I still downgrade back to my original carrier software (wind mobile Canada) (which I have no idea how to do once I flash the b508/b226)???? Thanks to all those who can waste a little bit of their time to help me out. I'd really appreciate any efforts as I know I cannot get great help like xda's from anywhere else! Thank you so much xda community!:thumbup:

s4 rogers i337m canada

nc1 org everything never messed with secret menus blahblah
i went to cellunlocker.net
and i really didnt wanna do this but the guys here in town vegas want 50$ to help me unlock it when he said 2days for a code i figured id try a code myself
ordered @ 8am got code by 2pm in email i was soo skeptical but it worked 8 digit code i thought it was suppose to be a 6digit but whatever
ok biggest thing is make sure you select i337m galaxy s iv 4
and when asked u put correct carrier locked to .... i really figured i had just gave 14.99 away but nope it worked i put my h2o simcard in it it asked for a code i put code and it worked
some people were talking about fastgsm.com but on the the checkout it says they cant unlock anything above a certain baseband and im like wtf ? so some services want to tunnel over net into ur pc and over your phone remote and those wont work at least not on my nc1 baseband 4.4.2 and free unlock way isnt avail to me anymore cause of that
im sorry if this post is stupid but i wanted to let anyone needing a unlock know 14.99 should get them unlocked with cellunlocker.net
now i did read that if you played around in your service menu that using a code might not work idk about that but hey i figured 15$ gamble was better then wasting 50bucks or 40bucks locally
now i can jump on wifi and see what the heck this s4 is trying to do with a update cause wifi kept trying to auto downoad a update even tho it was unchecked so i kept it off wifi untill now
woot woot waiting 6hrs sucked but its nothing compared to olden days of waiting a week for the org carrier to email u back the code

VZW apps on my phone?

This may be a silly question but I hope someone can answer for me.
I am currently living in Thailand and picked up a Pixel 2 not too long ago. I got the OTA up to January while my phone was still stock/unrooted with my Thai Sim card. I then unlocked the bootloader rooted Magisk etc... At one point I flashed the stock image from google (not the UK or verizon variants) as I wanted to go back to stock.
I then updated to the February update by flashing the factory image without the -w to prevent wiping. Currently on OPM1.171019.019
Just earlier today I was snooping around and found the following installed but disabled:
My Module: com.vzw.apnlib
Retail Demo Mode: com.customermobile.preload.vzw
Vzw OMA Trigger: com.android.vzwomatrigger
vzw_msdc_api: qualcomm.com.vzw_msdc_api
VZW_Multicast_MW: com.qualcomm.ltebc_vzw
My question is, are these Verizon services baked into the stock image files? A Verizon had never been in the phone, as far as I know.
Thank you kindly
I know that this post is a few months old, but I was just searching for the same answer to this question regarding my phone. I am currently seeing these on my T-Mobile branded Snapdragon Note 8. If anyone out there might be able to help answer?
I think this thread and this thread are related.
For some reason there's a cross over between what the VZW and Google should be. It must have something to do with the partnership between them.
I just had the issue of VZW potentially (NOT confirmed) locking my boot loader...
Also on my Sprint G965U
same thing with me on a us cellular s8 that i bought brand new in store. I found a verizon service agreement in my network config. i called and questioned them about it, i asked what their affiliation with vzw was , they said they had none unless it was above their paygrade. they ended up telling me the phones are programmed for multi carriers from the manufact then the acutual carrier will optimize them which leaves pretty much dead files that cant be rewmoved. use activity launcher you dont need root and you can access almost every file in a readable state and also control tons of **** that is in your phone but cant access. i cant believe all the settings that you would never know about. anyway getting off track. back to vzw, i first thought vzw files on a new us cellular device meant maybe it was rerfurbished and they lied, i wish , bye bye contract lol. i think this could be made into a big deal, possible void a contract , going to go to the store and see what they think, i know they wont have a clue. thats what im hoping because ill easily take an s10+ and not pursue it any further haha

it all comes down to business. those apps are preinstalled, yes, baked in? yes and no. they have read only permissions but are not an integral part of the system and can be removed. some users report having trouble using verizon apps with their verizon service after uninstalling com.vzw.apnlib i'm sorry you didn't get an answer sooner, but these things happen.
