Yep... I'm having the same problem. Seems like something similar happened a few months ago.
I too, am having that problem. If I tell it to cancel update, and then go to the old (un- updated) 5-day forecast screen, then to "more" tab, it does bring up the accuweather page in Opera - so the internet connection and the accuweather site are up. I looked for some sort of connection setting for this, but can't find any.
Weather update
Having the same problem here. I have data and wifi connections.
Same issue here.
Same here on Tilt even did a hard re-set as wasn't any posts and did change some files last night, the other strange thing is my Dash updates and it's AccuWeather too.
Yeah same here, will not update through wifi or data connection

yup, weather is ka-put!
Me too, i am using weather with custom cities, i remember custom cities weather is gathering weather information from a different server, maybe this server is down. Is someone is trying to use weather OEM?
the weather proxy:
http://weather.not2advanced.com/.... is down
do u have weather fix installed?
Same problem now in Spain.

I tried setting the Server URL in the Weather Database Editor to:
Code:
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=
with no success.
but this is the stock ive the "fixed" version , dont work,
ok i look out window and see weather for moment..
It is working again now.
OK... I managed to get mine working again.
For those of you who don't want to wait for the not2advanced.com server to come back up, try this: Open Weather Database editor and choose, Edit and Options. Change the server URL to:
Code:
http://htc.accuweather.com/widget/htc/forecast-data_v3.asp?ac=TR2cra9U&locCode=%25ls
(Note: That's an Ls, not Is or 1s)
proxy not2advanced.com is working again now too!
weather updated works ,)
proxy not2advanced.com seems to be down again...still not working for me

Since my first ROM flash (and who knows maybe before that) I have had tremendously hard time getting PIE to connect to the internet. What's strange is that after I install opera MINI it connects and loads pages no problem despite the fact that PIE loads nothing.
I need to download some files and I've tried:
-rebooting phone
-deleting cookings
-deleting files
-deleting history
I'm using the WAP.cingular settings because the ISP.cingular really don't seem to work at all (PIE doesn't work in either - I THINK MINI only works with WAP settings).
I have the Cingular Personal unlimited DATA with the 1500 text messages.
Any ideas why PIE is so problematic
Thanks
Did you registry edit any of the cache or history, etc to the card? If so, move it back to the original settings.

No, I have the same problem.
Opera Mini works fine but PIE does nothing. I don't have any clue why.

I can ONLY get online with PIE and not with any other app (Sling Player, Google Maps, Opera, etc). I don't know why, either. I hadn't changed a thing. It just started happening tonight and it's happening on my Tilt and the wife's Blackjack. Makes no sense whatsoever...
What network are you on, and where?
I called this evening, and from what i understood, ATT had been having data network issues since the afternoon
This has been happening for me either since day one or since my first Dutty ROM.
Here's what I've observed:
with WIFI only I get PIE to work
with Data connection only I get Opera MINI, IM+ to work
IM+ and Opera WILL NOT work with WIFI connection
Something is miffed?
Try enabling the "Hidden Proxy", and try using the browsers again.
Then Disable it, and do the same test. post your results.
My data connection was only working through medianet with the Proxy enabled. I hard reset, and reinstalled everything from scratch (something i was planning on doing), and now my medianet works without the proxy again.
Yeah, this happened to me last week. I installed the hidden proxy app to work with CingularVideo.cab and I could only connect through programs other than PIE.
I went into
"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings"
and changed "EnableAutoDetect" to "1".
Not sure if this will help, but it's an option for you.
Just checked- don't have that registry entry. just httpproxy (1) and some other settings nothing about proxy auto detect or anything close though. Checked all subfolders
Still no solution, any thoughts dutty?
Hello,
I know there a ton of articles regarding the HTC WEATHER fix, but no matter what I do, I cannot connect to the server to download updates for my city or any city I choose.
I'm using a T-Mobile MDA, with WM 6.1 (TNT version) and I'm using the T Mobile $5.99 plan to access the internet. I'm able to browse the internet and use google mpas just fine. Anytime I click on internet or google maps, the phone says it' s connecting to GPRS (T zones ) and everything works, except the weather update.
I'm using the HTC home version 1.0 because whenver I install the newer versions, it will not show on the today screen, as if I never installed it. I tried un checking and recheckig HTC under settings, soft setting the wizard and still nothing. So I'm using the 1.xxx version of HTC Home.
I've tried installing proxy patches, even went into the registry and edited the proxy and proxy type, like it says in some other articles and still nothing.
The HTC weather will update if I have the phone plugged in via Active Sync, but cannot find the serfer via the t zones
I've tried several things and spent days trying to figure this out.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm willing to try them and I will let you know f I already did try them as well

As far as I know, the Weather panel will not work with T-zone but full Total internet. Try to use SPB Mobile shell 2, I like this program the most and weather panel will work with t-zone.
I'm in the same boat as you.
Does anyone know if there is a hack out for HTC home weather that simply changes how it pulls the weather data so that it could be used with t-zones?
I've used the SPB before and it worked well. I just reinstalled it and it downloads fine. I think I was getting wrapped up in the challange of making it works vs. actually getting the weather forecast. I'm going to take your advice and just use the SPB. Thanks for making me come my senses.
..in case, that someone needs freeware solution.. use bsweather with bs.
wondering how it works with that t-zone..
f htc soft.
Is it normal that Weather tab in TF3d doesn't update using activesync when connected to the computer?
it only connects when clicking the tab, it never downloads the weather data by itself using activesync or gprs if the tab is not active.
it has happenned to me using ROMeOS 1.40 & the "unprotected ROM"
of course i have set it to download automatically the weather data but it doesn't run. The setting about roaming is disabled.
it is me or it is a common bad behaviour of TF3D weather tab. it is really anoying!
I've looked for it in XDA without results so if you know something about it please tell me something. If for you it runs good also tell it to me.
thanks
Nobody know anything about it?
so i can deduce that only me is suffering this bad behaviour that means that I've made some kind of mess with it, right?
and it is not the weather server problem neither of course!
(i feel alone here nobody confirms this bad behaviour or at least says that in their TP this feature is running fine)
As far as I have seen, this is how the weather app works (connect on navigating to the tab). Do you really need it constantly updating?

That's what i've experienced as well.
Closing this thread as the question has been answered. It's just how the program works.
The weather of the current location is displayed in the "home screen". But this information wil not update. Doesn't matter what i tried.
It keeps to be "Emmen" (the Netherlands) and the last update was done yesterday(just after i installed dutty's 6.5 rom). I updated all data in the weather tab and all other locations do update, but the current location doesn't. I can't delete the current location of change the place which weather info i want in the home-screen.
Does anyone have a "FIX" for this or any other solution ?
On the weather tab, did you go to Menu > Settings > Update > Auto-Update?
This will then update the weather on the home screen also.
Hello, I too have the same problem, the home location is not updated with a WAP connection but only directly from the internet (wifi). Maybe you can fix by acting on the register?
Ciao.
WIFI helps....
Hi totix.....
Setting up only the WIFI and lose the 3G and data connection helps for the update in the homescreen....
So thanks for this tip.
I wonder if it is possible to update this screen without a wifi connection. Should be possible, right?
How to fix this in the register is a big question for me.
Maybe someone else who can help me / us ?
Over the last week or so the Weather widget and app show my Current Location to be 'United Kingdom' rather than the city I am in.
I have tried refreshing many times, updated location on Google Maps and even reflashed my rom but still no luck. Has anyone had this problem and know a fix for it?
Many thanks.
Have you already clear data from Google Maps, Clock Widget, Weather, HTC weather sync provider and Weather Provider? After you delete all of these data, then try to update your location in google map by GPS and mobile data.

Tried everything suggestd but still no luck. Added the clock widget from Beautiful Widgets to see if this would make any difference but this widget just says "Null" instead of "United Kingdom"

Yes Google Maps shows my exact location with no problems (GPS and Mobile Data).
Ive done what invisiblebm has done and change the weather provider to Google in BW and now the widget is fine but it still shows UK on the weather lock screen
I'm having the same problem and I've done all the above steps too.
If you open the htc weather app and press more details online, it will load the web browser with correct location.
Therefore, I think the problem is kernel/rom related.
Btw, I'm running the Virtuous Rom with the 1.6 beta6 Brick kernel.
Since ARHD 4.1.7+Bricked v1.5 I have ever got the same problem too, but after I tried a solution from above reply that I have wrote. It's works fine for me.

I think you may be right. This only started happening to me when I moved from ARHD 3.6x to ARHD 4.1x. Is Virtuous Rom with Sense 3.5?
Im wondering if the problem is Sense 3.5 releated?
No it uses Sense 3.0
I'm going to try stock kernel and see if it makes any difference.

Think it may be more Rom related that Kernel. Ive been using Bricked 1.5 for a while now and it always use to work.
Please report back though if you find stock fixes it. Does yours always show the country or does it sometimes report the correct city? Mine seems to be very intermittent...
Now this is really strange. I've tried this on both stock and bricked kernel.
I followed all the steps in post 2. I had to go outside to get gps signal in google maps, and it showed the correct location in weather widget.
However, when i go back inside, the location is back to United Kingdom. It seems as though a constant gps signal is required in the background.
This was never the case on the stock rom.

I only changed the weather provider in BW. As far as im aware you cannot change it for the HTC app.

Something very weird is going on. Im at work at the moment and it's showing the correct location but I know as soon as I get home tonight it will change back to United Kingdom. Perhaps its a problem with Accuweather?
If it is rom related then I guess the only way to test this theory is to go back to stock and see if this makes any difference.

Spoke to soon......just changed back to United Kingdom after a refresh!
Think I may be getting somewhere here.
With WiFi connected weather shows as United Kingdom - with WiFi disconnected weather shows correct location.
Can someone else test this to make sure...
I do have a nand backup of the stock rom which came with the phone. Contemplating whether to give it a try!
EDIT:
Just saw your post now. When you disconnect the WIFI is your data connection then turned on?

Yes once WiFi is disconnected the mobile data comes back and correct location is shown.
Yea the same happens with me, with the data connection it reports correct location.

How strange. I cant say I have ever noticed this before - Im sure I would have as I use WiFi all the time so I wonder if it is a recent bug.
Well at least we got to the bottom of it!
