1st off I DID use the search button.... 2nd HELPPP ME!!!
Waaah :'( I have a most intriguing problem I was running pdaviet 4.0.0.6 Touch for almost 2 weeks now without a single glitch.. the phone fell on my carpet and went to bootloader screen and eversince then it has never recovered I tried a hard reset it didn't work when I was pressing the send button it did nothing I did some forum searches and tried putting back the nvid RUU and it said that the update was succesfull and the progress bar on the phone moved accordingly but it went back to the bootloader screen ... then I tried pdaviet temp rom that was in the package still no go I can tell it works somehow because the USB lights up in the bottom left when I plug the usb cable and the progress bar that moves, but I'm getting desperate IPL and SPL info is in my sig...
same same... but i dropped mine before flashing the new PDAVIET touch rom.. still went fine..
now, it still flashes... RUU says its successful.. but PDA just reboots back to bootloader..
i can charge my phone fine in bootloader.. i can see the USB come on when i connect it to my computer.. other than that, can't do anything...
i've tried everything the past 2 days.. looks like i'll have to send it back to dopod.. will let u guys know what happens... probably something got damaged..
struck at bootloader
I tried WM6 (4.0.0.6 touch) from WM5 AKU 2.2 but it failed in between with some write message,which was bit strange as I didn't touch any key on laptop during that time and no program was being run at that time. (I am using VISTA Home premium). I got my phone into bootloader but it does not connect to my laptop...so cant upgrade back to AKU 2.2. In Windows Mobile Device Center, I cant see my device connected. So is it particular to Vista or my phone got bricked?
I am yet to try on Windows XP, which I have to arrange.
Please advise.

just go into bootloader mode-you dont need active sync connection and start the upgrade-search for 2.20 nvid rom download it and recover your device

I tried the same but when I run ROMUpdateUtility_No_VenderID, I get a message 'Update Error, 260' which tells further that PDA is not connected to laptop., although it is very much connected. However LED on PDA does not blink as well.
When I plug in this phone to Wall adaptor, LED does show up.
'USB' appears at Bottom Left corner of PDA when connected to laptop and certainly its getting recognised by Vista as it starts installing Driver as soon as this is connected to laptop.
Please suggest.

I tried on XP (I was trying on vista before)..I had to install Active Sync as it was not installed on that PC, then run RUU update for AKU 2.2 and update was successfull. Now will try Touch 4.0.0.6 again but this time on XP.
Hope this time I wont have any problems.

I ran the Hard-SPL on my HTC and it worked as it should. I'd say give that a shot, THEN try flashing the ROM of your choice.

Problem is, when I run hard spl it expects activesync to be running, but in bootloader mode AS doesnt connect so Hardspl wont load =/
- Disable activesync usb connections
- Connect to bootloader with mtty and type the following commands to know your CID and Model ID:

Paste the output here, and also tell me which SPL version you have on your device.
Also, does the tri-color shows "RUURUN" or similar in the screen?
You should flash a ROM matching your CID to fix it.

Run the Hard-SPL utility on your PC, and follow the instructions (sticky on this forum)
It will allow you to flash any ROM after that, I've flashed the AT&T Rom, the HTC rom and back and forth, pulling cabs out of the AT&T rom for the items I like (IM utility etc)

Ok, so here is my situation. I have a Tilt and Vista.
I ran HardSPL and I am at the tri-color screen. I have:
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.JumpSPL
CPLD-8
USB (in the middle of the screen)
I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it several times. I cant get HardSPL to run again (it hangs at the first section looking for ActiveSync) I tried restarting Vista several times. I can NOT turn off my device, as holding down the power button does not appear to work.
I have tried just running a couple of .exe roms (AKU 0.7.0 ROMS) and I get the connection error [264]. I cant re-establish my ActiveSync connection. In device Manager I have Microsoft USB Sync for the mobile device, but I cant get ActiveSync (Mobility Center) to see it.
I have tried opening MTTY to run "boot" but it says USB Port Can NOT be opened.
I just need some direction here, as it seems like everything hinges on my ActiveSync connection. I have been up and down the Wikis for Hermes and all the similar ones, and I think I am SOL.
I WILL GLADLY DONATE if thats what it takes for someone to help me. Thanks guys, I cant wait for my HTC Rom to work.
Vista Problem.
First off, i had the same problem as you so i just found an XP box to use.
Second, even with XP i still managed to **** up because i did not read the directions all the way through. This device is totally different so make sure you read all the directions.
If you have no access to an XP machine then u can just "obtain" a copy of XP and dual boot just for flashing your device.
If you have no idea what I am saying then read some more. the hermes forums have some great information when it comes to flashing via Vista.
For all you guys that just saved between $300.00-$500.00. How about sending POF like %5 or %10 of what he just saved you...

Have you installed the XP activesync drivers under Vista? The Hermes Wiki mentions somewhere how to do that.

I got it working. I had to pull the battery out of the phone to get it out of bootloadr, it was just plain stuck. Then, in Vista, I needed to F8, disable driver enforcement, I replaced the wceusbh.inf in device manager, and relaunched HardSPL and there she was! Now for the BigStorage.

ok, i flashed BlackDiamond 3.1 rom and all seemed well
computer said everything was complete
phone was stuck on 99%, left for 10 minutes and nothing happened.
now phone starts in boot mode, wont hard reset, and isn't recognized by the computer to attempt a wizard_love flash
please help
Hi,
What did you do prior flashing a custom ROM? Give us more information regarding your device and settings so we can help you out better.
Devices stuck in a bootloader mode normally aren't bricked....that's actually a good place to stay sometimes!

i copied the nk.nbf file from the unrared BlackDiamond 3.1 .rar file to the SoftSPL folder and started the softspl process
everything was going well, it showed 99% on the phone and the computer said
that everything was finished while the phone said 99%, i left it plugged in to
see if it would complete and it never did, it was stuck at 99% and wouldn't budge
i tried soft resetting to see if it would help it along thats when it started up in boot mode
when i plug the usb cable in it shows up on the phone but my computer doesn't recognize it
also RUU is in the top right hand corner
Find the wizard love rom and flash it .....You can find links to it in the G4 section of the wizard forum. Then I suggest you unlock your G4.

i have the wizard love rom on my desktop but my computer will not recognize that my phone is connected through the usb cable.

Activesync does not work or connect while in bootloaders mode,if you say it shows usb in the bootloasders,it means your phone has established connection with your pc,just flash the love_wizard_rom and let it finish,hope it'll start working.As it's a G4 device,try the SoftSPL or HardSPL method to upgrade.

I just had my phone hang on the welcome screen - and was able to get it into the bootloader screen, and reflash a base rom.
The one thing not mentioned is that on your activesync settings - you need to uncheck the USB connection item, so that the rom update utility can run.
Once I did this - I could flash the oem rom without issue

Did you try flashing either the tmobile 2.26 rom or the wizard love rom?

Which method are you using to upgrade ? SoftSPL or HardSPL ? have you tried any of these methods or you are just simply trying to flash black diamond straight without either SoftSPL or HardSPL ?
to unbrick your phone, you should try to do the unlocking sequence again. go back and use the lokiwiz02b and all of that jazz. if you fallow the guide to unlocking the phone, you should be able save it. i had the same problem, took it to a shop, they could not fix it, then bought a new phone thinking it would never work again. i got brave and fallowed the directions on the how to page for G3 phones and poof, it was up and running and i got a full refund on my newly purchased phone.

i have tried soft_spl both times and it has gotten to 99% each time, then stopped
Try installing black diamond using the RUU MUN. Just paste the kb file in the directory of the RUU MUN. Then just double click the RUU installer.

i cant upgrade my phone. i get an error 264.
i even hardresetted the phone and tryed.
when i start the "hardspl.bat" my mobile wants to run a jumper file. but when i press yes the screen turns white the connection brakes and i cant upgrade too.
and when i dont press yes and do nothing the updater starts but its stock at 0% and after some time i get the error o0

its just not working! i copied the jumperfiles, i plugged the phrophet i run the spl i plugged the propeht in again and when i run the update thing i get an error.

okay i think i found the error ... i had windows runnin on my mac with a virtuall mashine and it wasnt able to connect virtual windows with the bootloader.
but i got an other error now. if i run hardspl, i everything seems to run find. but its still the old 2.15 hard spl on the prophet even if its supposed to be a 2.20.
do i have to crack some kind of romlock befor? (its a german o2 XDA)
oh okay do i have to unlock the CID? i searched the prophet forum but didnt find anything specific.

I was trying to Upgrade my O2 XDA Exec Rom with Windows Mobile 6.5 by explode. The process went successfully till 99% and after that it ended up with Error. Then I unplugged my pda from the pc and tried to restart the device. I was surprised that the device did not respond to any of the following
Soft Reset
Hard Rest
Boot Loader mode Start (Bulb + Power + Reset)
It is totally blank screen whatever you do.
When I connected the device to the pc with usb cable, a Red Light is shown for 2 seconds and then goes off and a message comes up on the pc that "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED".
Then I tried to Remove battery from the device for a whole night and the next day morning i did all the above procedures again to get no results.
Kindly Help me out

if it's not recognized, remove the SIM card, the SD card, and on the PC open activesync and disable usb connections. for more info open this link

you have to find another rom and try to flash it to your PDA.

I had already done those steps to get no results.

If you cannot get into bootloader and you have done the steps above, then you cannot flash to another rom.......it would seem you now have a paperweight im afraid
I am still not able to revive my device. I know that it is just due to corrupt bootloader but don't know how to repair it.
If anybody ever has solution for this... kindly let me know.

it says can't open usb port
One More thing I have noted is that when I keep the device connected with the pc, at a certain interval of about 10-15 mintues my device's Led shows RED Light for few seconds and then turns off followed by the the "USB device not recognized" on my pc.
I hope this can be used as a hint towards reviving my device.

have you followed orbs advise above and pm a chef on that section, they maybe able to help. From my knowledge (limited on that device) i ddont think there is any recovery proceedure that you have not tried. Have u downloaded offical wm5 rom and tried it. I know and appreciate that it will probably not work due to corrupt bootloader, but what else is there to do??
To understand more, what did you do PRIOR to trying to flash to 6.5.
Did you hardspl correctly? Had you already flashed to another rom and just felt like flashing to another new rom?? Give us more detail.

I had used 3 other Rom versions of WM6.1 on my device. They ran very much fine on my device. But When i found WM6.5 xplode, I wished to try that too. But the rom update procedure went successfully till 99% and after that it showed an error that upgrade was not successfull. I pulled out the device and tried to restart if by all methods but I wasnt able to power on at all.

ok, goto the thread that you got the rom off, click the chefs name and you will get a menu there to send pm, do it, he might have seen a similar problem or know how to correct bootloader.

my bro has bricked an Universal and the same led turns red no power off no bootloar no power it means the flash chip is dead!

He waits too long for the upgrade it tooks at least 40 minutes
then ERROR... but you know... the batt was died in middle process ( th batt was ****ed up, it say full charged but no! it was on 60 or 50%) then the stupid thing is make a hardreset.. i told him dont hR your device... justa simple reste and reinit the process... and huh! its bricked.

maybe my bro want some parts.
my advice(similar to other people):
1. Charge your batery somehow (in other device or anything else)
2. put your devce in bootloader mode and connect it to pc - it wll be detected like microsoft usb sync
3. use mtty try difrend versions becuse sometimes 1.42 does not detect it properly - read here for what to do with mtty
IMO this may be battery problem or nand chip problem - in both cases it is hardware fail
