When my Cruise is connected with ActiveSync to Windows (XP),
then pop up the Windows user folder
(C-documents and settings-windows username).
When disconnect ActiveSync pop up again...
How can I turn off this?
Maybe if you use group policy editor (not available ox XP home) and disable the autorun feature

Hi, is there some way to make activesync to synch only manually. I'm using HTC Wizzard and Activesync 4.2.0. When i connect PDA to PC it start synchronizing and that's annoying.
if you mean by usb then in activesync in the pda
you enter activesync click menu choose connections
it says "when cradled"
But then it will not connect to pc ? i wanna it to connect to PC but not synch data.
well dislect all the options (as in remove the ticks next to mail, calander ect)
or
Under schedule choose Manually
How can you disable a conduit, like for example the calendar/contact sync conduit BEFORE you plug your PocketPC to your PC and activesync starts the synchronization ?
you can disable it once the sync done, but then it is just too late, if you did not want your current data to be sync.
Ok, I have found how to, by going it the ActiveSync app on the PocketPC (and not on the PC like I was doing), thought it does not work so nicely. Strangely the Note conduit was greyed out so I could not disable this conduit (so that my .pst will not be modified).
"Once upon a time" when I was using Windows XP I was able to sync my phone with my home computer from anywhere using an application called "USB to Ethernet Connector". It (I mean the application) basically shared my current USB connection over the ethernet and I was able to map it back home as real USB port.
For some time now I'm using Windows Vista. It is all ok with "USB to Ethernet Connector" except that the Vista's "Sync Center" does not recognize my device. It appears as "Windows Mobile-based device" in my Device Manager but it cannot sync.
Can anyone suggest where the problem might be?
P.S. Settings
Windows Vista Firewall - disabled
Windows Vista Defender - disabled
Symantec Endpoint Protection - Installed with Firewall disabled
up up up up up
vista changed a lot about security from xp
so
1. the program would have to be remade to work with the new security model
or
2. the vista security model is too strict for the program ever to work
I don't think that security is the problem here. Otherwise it won't work at all. My USB stick and the Bluetooth dongle work.
There is "Windows Mobile-based device" in my Device Manager.
So obviously the problem is with the Vista's Sync Centero or within it's settings.
I am using WM6.5 and computer has Vista. If I plug in the wire, the phone syncs fine. But I want to use Bluetooth. I paired the devices ok. But where is activesync? I don't see it in the new start menu and I looked in \windows for the file but couldn't find it. I think it will sync if I can just figure out how to open it!
Vista doesn't use ActiveSync. Instead Vista uses Windows Mobile Device Center....it should be right there in the first seciton of you Start menu under All Programs.
