Windows Mobile device Center on Vista has gone mad!

Hi!
I want to sync my HTC Artemis with my Vista Laptop.
The problem is that I cannot open Windows Mobile Device Center on Windows Vista.
When I run it, theres only this Connection settings dialog appearing... everytime i open it! Normally there should pop up this bigger green nice designed window with many function (one of them the connection settings)
So I can nothing do!!
Though I can connect to my phone by USB and Bluetooth (I can browse the files on the device) I cannot set up WM Device Center to pair for a Sync connection.
It is also strange that all my contacts, etc. were gone when I tried this first.
I think this is because I had my device still paired but installed Vista new on my Laptop.
Can anybody help me?
you should search first grasshopper, or atleast check the second page of this forum.

ActiveSync via BT on Vista with 2125?

Has anyone been able to get ActiveSync to work over Bluetooth in Vista with a 2125? Which English ROM will I have the best of luck with as my USB Bluetooth on my desktop computer running vista ultimate x86 keeps telling me that my phone doesnt support activesync over bluetooth.
Also where can I get the Stock Cingular ROM for my 2125?
Can anyone point to to a guide on how to set it up?
any ideas?
many thanks,
SG
No one has because you dont need Active Sync in Vista, Vista comes preloaded with Windows Mobile Device Centre
Sorry I meant to say "Windows Mobile Device Centre"
I cant tell if it is becuase of my USB BT Dongle or my 2125. When I try to esablish a BT ActiveSync connection from my 2125 it says there is no partnership setup with a computer that supports activesync. yet I believe my BT Dongle does.
Any ideas?

Have you done a wired sync with that computer before? If not, you should do it. I've read that in the past. It fixed a sync problem with one of my phones, however, I've done it w/o too and it works. Have you created a BT Partnership between your computer and your phone? When you create the partnership, click on Advanced, re-confirm the PC name, then on the Services Window, checkmark Active sync. Then open active sync on phone, and click on right menu and chose Connect via BT. It should work. Good Luck!
EDIT: The partnership has to be created from the phone, not from the PC. If created from the PC, as far as my experience, it'll create a Modem Dialup connection partnership that will allow the PC to connect to the internet via BT using Wap connection on your phone. If you do want to create that too, use *99# as the dialup phone number. Leave blank the User name and PW.
Thanks for the reply.
When I try to setup a partnership from the phone I see my computer but I only see 3 service. Stereo somthing, handsfree, and something else but none of which are active sync. Yet when I look on my computer I see that activesync is in the list and selected.
I have a IOGear BT211 (Broadcom 2045) USB Dongle running in Vista Ultimate SP1.
Could it be my BT211 Driver? I have the latest version 5.1.x
Thanks,
Well the new phone I bought has all the drivers for Vista on CD. But its installed on my son's Laptop and he don't let daddy get nearby his toys LOL so, I really couldn't help more. I do know active sync works over BT with Vista. So I guess you'll have to keep trying. Do you have any instalation CD for your phone? From what I remember, if you don't have the "Outlook" that comes with the phone instalation, you might not be able to. I remember it didn't work untill we installed the one on the phone CD. All though, his Laptop had MS Office already installed. So... take a look around that.
My Bad. I had the wrong Window drivers installed for my BT on my desktop. LOL. Who would have though that the Windows XP drivers wouldnt work under Vista? lol
Thanks for the help.

activesync (Windows Mobile Device Center) via bluetooth on Vista
I went through a similarly difficult experience with a Lenovo laptop. I blogged about it here:

FUZE Not connecting with Windows 7 laptop

Any ideas why? Should I admit defeat and download active sync 4.5 even though the sync center is supposed to sync my device automatically?
I use EnergyROM if that matters
I dont know if this will help but im using Windows 7 and my phone synced just fine! so its not a prob with win 7. i can soft reset and retart win and try again!
hmm
what rom do you use? maybe its the EnergyROM or maybe my computer is messed up =/
I'm using TAEL and it works fine with W7
try to
-reinstall windows mobile device center
-restart the pc
-hard reset
-use other rom
as an alternative, you could use google sync to save contacts, calendar and mail
You need to download and install the Windows Mobile Device Center.
Moved as not ROM Development
Assuming the following
-Installed Windows Mobile Device Center
-Connected your phone with the "Active Sync" option
-Getting an error saying "cannot install Generic RNDIS device" or something like that
Do this to fix your problem
-Go to your phone's Settings > Connection > USB to PC
-Untick the "Enable fast data synchronization"
Your pc should now automatically realize that's a phone connected to it and should start installing it properly
if you want to transfer files across, do it in "Disk Drive" mode, since ActiveSync is painfully slow
Thank you very much guys, works just fine now
I used myphone to sync my contacts and such, i just needed a sync to a computer because it's faster to flash roms that way
and i use disc drive for transferring videos and pictures
just for a reference, for people searching for a solution to a similar problem, which one did the trick for ya?
