Battery life and other issues on ATT Fuze. - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi guys, this is my first post, even though ive been around on the wizard forum until i got this phone about 4 days ago. Ive tried searching for this but didnt find anything useful, so here goes, the battery life on this phone seems horrible, the first day i got it, it semeed to last about 8 hours, this is with me messing around with it, and getting familiarized with it. I charged it for a couple of hours, to get me half way. then at night the phone died completely, im like ok no problem, ill leave it charging overnight. the next day its fully charged great! so I go run some errands, left the hours around 1 pm by 4pm the phone has one block on the meter im like wtf, this is with only one 5 min phone call and a couple of texts... Today i measured the life of the battery at about 3 and a half hours. is this normal? also the phone gets sort of warm when charging. Is there tweaks, or something to do with the early charge of the battery? My wizard which is about 2 years old, lasts me all day and some of the night. Is my battery or phone defective? I have also noticed that while the phone is hooked up to my computer via usb and active sync, and im messing with it, it will not charge. thank you and I will apreciate your help!

A completely stock Fuze will have OK, but not great, battery life. The phone will get warm if you hold it in a manner that blocks the internal antenna. This is caused by the phone working harder to maintain it's signal.
Here's my advice:
Read up on HardSPL for Raphael. Flash it.
Flash a custom "cooked" ROM to your Fuze. (Mine are great [obviously ], but there are many to choose from.)
Security Unlock your Fuze so that you can flash radios from other compatible HTC phones. I'm using a Diamond radio at the moment, and battery life / performance is excellent.
Lastly, please do not ask "which ROM is best". There is no correct answer for this. Try them all until you stumble upon one you like.

Battery draining in sudden bursts?

I've recently started having this problem. I charged my wizard overnight, saw the battery was 100%, then as soon as i removed the charger, it drops to around 80%. If i follow this with a soft reset, it drops to 50%. During normal usage the drainage isn't so sudden, but it is still a lot faster than usual. For e.g. a 20 min video would drain 30% of the battery.
My extended rom is clear, I first installed the 2.26 tmob rom, then wrcx1, so I dont think that should be an issue. I've installed the power saving cabs as well. What else could be the problem? I'd really hate to have to switch to another rom just to sort this out...
Forgot to add, this is a recent problem. I used to get excellent battery life, this has just suddenly started happening. I haven't changed my charger or battery.
which BS are you using?
I was using the latest BS release (0263 i think) but have removed it from my today screen and still the problem is persisting...
Battery... that's what driving me crazy now! With WM5, I can use my device almost 2,5 days with lots call/sms and solitaire. Tried 3 WM6 version and couldnot save the O2 life last more than 3 hours (uncontinuosly). Please any one help to solve this.... (
Sounds like either your battery is screwed (they DO go bad after a year or two) OR you've got one seriously ****ed up ROM.
By the way, BatterySpace is known to do this if you use the dynamic overclocking. Somehow something in the ROM or Registry gets trashed, and then the system will peg the CPU at 100%.
This will WASTE the battery like nobody's business! Once this happens the only fix is a HARD RESET - I've not figured out what's getting scrambled, but whatever it is, a reboot doesn't fix it.
Shut off the dynamic overclocking if you're using it and see if the problem goes away.
I just had the same erratic behavior from my battery, it was over a year old. It would charge to 100%, but when off the charger strength would read random levels and drain really fast. I could kill the battery in about 30 minutes of browsing web pages.
A new battery solved it.

OK, thanks!
Now I'm thinking about downgrade to WM5 to check wherther battery died or not, before buy a new one.
I have the same issue on the g3 wizard connected thru tmobile us running the bd3 rom. I have had excellent battery life in the past but in the past 3 days or so the battery status is just inaccurate. The main prob is that when you go connect to the internet 5 min later the device restarts and sometimes it just keeps restarting in a loop. Then sometimes it restarts but battery is at critical, when before it was at 80%.
But i noticed when it gets stuck in the boot loop, just stick it on the charger for a sec and it will start back up fine, but then die after a couple phone calls or so.
I have also cleared the rom thinking it was some battery drain issue that usually happens when you don't flash the original rom before you flash a cooked one. I installed the tmobile original one and then flashed "boring rom for tmobile". That rom works quite well. But the battery is still draining.
I also changed the radio rom from the 2.69 and now went to the 02.25.11 but still the same issue.
I didn't try running straight wm5 and see if it did it their, but the previous poster is trying it so ill see if that worked for him or not.
The next step is to try a new battery but this battery is only like a year old
Believe me when I tell 'ya that Lithium Ion batteries, when they die, do so exactly like this.
Try a new battery.

mine is doing the same thing..
if i start any aplication that requests more procesing, the device keeps rebooting, even if the battery was indicating 100% when i started using it
if i plug the charger when he is rebooting, he comes back to life 80-100% charged..
if i do not use it, and leave him on stand by, the battery lasts for like 2 days without any issues.
Draining in Sudden Bursts! Sounds like it feels good.
well i guess i will just get a new battery and hope that solves the problem since I have tried everything besides just using regular wm5, and someone posted that this is what lithium ion batteries usually do, so I'll give it a shot and report my findings after christmas, lol I hope I get a mda battery for christmas
anyone bought a new battery?
did it worked?
i´m still waiting for mine to arrive
I bought a new battery, but i cant say yet whether its working or not. It seems to work fine at times, and gives the same problem at other times. Not sure what acould be wrong....
Are you using TNT5 ROM? I've flashed two days ago this ROM to give WM6 a second go and my battery vanished like smoke... the battery that used to last for about 4 days, was gone in only half a day :\ I'm back to my ROM!
I'm using TNT5 for a few months now. All of a sudden i had batteryproblems. Tried everything but solved the problem with a fresh battery. Only 9 dollars on Ebay....
And now the phone is running smoothly again (lasts about 2 days)...
still waiting for mines to come should come wednesday, its getting worst and worst i used to be able to use it for at least an hour now only for about 15 min off the charger, when it says its at a 100%
I'm having a different kind of problem, except for the burst that I get after taking off power or after a soft reset, my battery life is exceptional. My last charge lasted about 7 hrs (including ebooks, mp3s, sms, and some phone calls).
I flashed XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 RC1 with .NET CF 3.5! recharging full battery. After flashing It showed low battery warning and when i restarted it, it showed full battery. And one hour later it swiched off. Now i flashed another rom .No problem yet.

Over 48 hours on a single charge w/ BT and WiFi

To make a long story short, my mom and I both got G2x phones on launch day. Two weeks to the day after our purchase, her battery died and refused to boot even while plugged into the wall charger (which I now know can be fixed by simply pulling the battery). I was busy at work and couldn't help her, and since it was the last day to return the phone within the 14 day period, I just told her to go ahead and return the phone for a replacement.
Prior to her replacement, we had pretty similar battery lives. I used mine more during the day, but she kept Bluetooth and other services running because she was used to an EDGE-only iPhone 3G where she never had to turn Bluetooth off. Our phones lasted between 10 and 12 hours depending on usage. Not great, but not terrible either.
Since she swapped hers out, her battery life is insane. I've attached a screenshot that shows 70% battery life after almost 24 hours. She had Bluetooth running 24/7 (notice it has the exact same usage percentage as Cell Standby) and WiFi running for a good portion of the time (though WiFi slept while screen was off). She had 4G running the whole time. While I know people might balk at the bad LG battery drivers, after 48 hours, she still had 17% battery life left. I apologize for not taking a screenshot--I didn't think about it until later that day. Though if anyone wants me to, I'll take one the next time her phone gets that far along.
I should mention that this is with no optimization at all. She did fully discharge the battery the first time she used it and charged it completely afterward, but that's it. The phone was unrooted and running stock everything with no special tweaks.
I'm very much considering going back to T-Mobile and seeing if they will swap it out. While mine doesn't seem to have the bleeding or other issues that other people have described, if I can trade mine out for a replacement that will quadruple my battery life, why not?
Wow that's amazing. I personally feel the G2x has excellent battery life. It has been way better than other Android phones I've had in the past (except for the original myTouch, I would get like 3 days out of that thing).
I wonder if the crazy battery life from your mom's phone is from the phone itself or the battery. I doubt T-Mobile will switch out your phone passed the exchange period (I'm a Tmo employee) but if they have any return G2x phones in stock, they should be cool to switch the battery out with you. I'm interested to see if it is indeed the phone or the battery.

That's a good suggestion. I'll experiment by swapping batteries with her to determine if it's her phone or her battery. I am inclined to think it's something different with the phone, but we'll see!
this would REALLY suck if it's true... because I got mine at Radioshack.. and I really loathe going to that store... ugh.
I also have amazing battery life. I can go 12 hours at work and still have 80% left. Got mine from the store on launch day.
((LG Tegra G2x)) @FiberOpticRLD
Could you please post the manufactured date (back of the G2x Box) for the second phone? Saw some posts which said phones on or after 4/29 are really good without any of the previous issues.
Curious to see what the verdicts are. If we can get that kind battery life out of our phones, that'd be incredible!

Yesterday I pulled my phone off the charger at 8AM. Went all day. I leave Wifi and Bluetooth on. Made about an hour of phone calls. Occasional checking of a website here or there. Did not charge phone at night. when I went to bed around midnight it was at 25% or so. Did not put it on charger. This morning it was at about 20%.
Not to rain on your parade. But from your screenshot, it shows no voice calls at all and little to no display use. 24 hrs on a charge without every really using the phone isn't really an accomplishment. Now if she can get 24 hours on a charge and have actually used the phone at least moderately then that would be different. I'd like to see how long her battery lasts with actual use of the phone. That would be a more true indicator of the battery life.
I was going to state that... based on that... her screen was only on for a total of 30 minutes out of 1440 minutes... not a major accomplishment. These phones are meant to be used not just carried around like a flip phone from 2001.

Exactly! She could have pretty much accomplished the same thing by just leaving the phone turned off or just leaving it at home. Some of us would like to actually use our phones, not just have them around for decoration lol. Now if someone gets 24 hours on a single charge with actual use, then I'd love to see that thread as that would be useful information.

[Q] defective device or battery

friends and gurus
i need your help in deciding if something is wrong with my sensation 4g or is it something else i am doing. the main issue is that battery life sucks. the first sensation i got also had the similar issue, and i exchanged it for the new one. but i have the same issue. i have went thru at least four cycle of draining the battery and then charging it up. also did the battery calibration. i haven't rooted the phone. just using go launcher ex instead of sense in hope of getting more battery life. so, now my question is is it just my bad luck with sensation? should i try one more time in exchanging device with t-mobile or should i go with HTC service?
will appreciate any help.
this is a detailed log of today's observation.

It is easily one of the two... Try factory reseting the phone if that has no effect, id just return for a replacement
You could also s-off your phone and look into some of the roms in your region, could also be helpful :|
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1112
With my phone personally...if i charge phone to full at 5am..its full at 7am
(Currently using Stock Rom/Kernel used ADB to pause applications runs like a champ!)
Best of luck with your issue
thanks for your reply. but why it need factory reset? i got phone just a week ago. i have installed few apps like unblock me game, juice defender, battery calibration, volume control+
(underpower speaker is another issue). , google maps, go weahter, go laucher.
the phone i have is made in china and manufacturing date is 7/2011.
s-off phone will void warranty, so i will wait till warranty period is over.

seems to me that your getting pretty much the same use from your battery that i am. i had the htc desire prior to the sensation and to be honest the battery life is comparable. i was expecting the sensation to be better battery wise but but i guess duel core is desire on speed so will use more power sucks though, i just plug phone into charger every night. don't think changing the phone is gona help.....battery life on htc is just bad. maybe buy a backup/second battery.
i will be more than happy if i have to charge phone just once a day. it drains out by 3:00 pm, then it is a real issue. That too without any long calls. i am sure, if i talk for one hour, then battery will die on spot.
the usage of today is in fact much less than some busy day. i am inside my office so have used landline/ skype for calls. if i have to be outside my office, then it gonna be a problem.
on a side note, what good alternative to sensation is there with T-mobile USA? i have seen some amazing battery life with iphone 4g and motoroal defy. and my own blackberry could go on for two days without a need to charge.

I too have been very frustrated with battery drainage. But for me, it didn't get bad until after I flashed modified ROMs. And I am not ignorant to flashing ROMs and I have done everything I can to find out the battery problem (battery calibration, bump charging, proper RIL files etc). But I can not get more than 8 hours in a day for any ROM. And these ROMs proclaim to be better on battery usage.
When I was on stock, I was getting 24 hours with moderate usage.
The thing I do not understand is that some people brag about their good battery usage and others with the same ROM are getting bad drainage. There are so many variables to battery drainage that trying to understand the problem proves difficult.
So I am just as dumbfounded as you.

How often does the mail client poll for new mail?
Do you leave your wifi on all the time? And if you do is it always connected, or just on and sometimes connected? When its on but not connected it will scan for available connections very frequently causing drain.
How is the is the mobile service in the places where you spend most of your time? If you spend a lot of time in places where the reception is poor then anytime you have no service the phone will search for service causing drain.

I am next to router all the time . As for mobile signal I usually get 3 to 4 bars. Email client is push gmail client as my company is using Google business app. Even if I dnt use the phone, it drains about 5% battery. If I use moderatly then all bets are off.
Since I have a similar battery problem and have done hours and hours of research including testing various ROMs, I think the answer to this strange behaviour (some people with good battery life, some without) is indicated by TechRadar's Sensation review:
UPDATE: We've finally managed to get our hands on a new review model of the HTC Sensation, and the good news is the battery life is definitely improved.
It seems that a combination of data-hungry applications and a slightly dodgy model caused the odd readings from before, although we're not entirely convinced the above scenario isn't one power users will face, which is why we've left it in.
But in normal use, and by that we mean sending 42 texts, spending 49 mins on the phone, watching an hour and bit of video and using the music player constantly, plus a few minutes spent using GPS to track ourselves and browsing the internet for roughly 45 mins, the battery pretty much lasted the day, although it was often in the yellow zone come 11PM.
However, what was more impressive (and a relief) was the sleep state of the HTC Sensation. Where before the phone would get very hot and start spewing out battery life in our pocket for no reason, if you leave the phone locked up for around 10-15 minutes on our new model the power consumption dropped to almost nothing.

I was going to switch to get a replacement model today since I'm still within my "grace" period, but something strange happened yesterday.
After trying out loads of different custom ROMs which all made no improvement to my terrible battery life, on Saturday I went back to the stock ROM (although the 2.3.4 version which is not yet out in Ireland), and on Saturday I suddenly had decent battery life (i.e. lasted the whole day and more)! Saturday night, still planning to return my phone on Monday (today) I switched back to the 2.3.4 stock ROM and put S-ON back on for warranty purposes. Then Sunday and today I still have the acceptable battery life of 1 or more days with light usage!
So, still have to do more research.
But simple answer:
Just get a replacement and hope you get a "working" model; otherwise, ask for a SGSII.
well, this is my second one. and i also have the same observation, after upgrade to 2.3.4 , battery life seems to have improved (OR is it just a perception? ). I have got much talked about anker battery, and just put it in. let it go thru couple of charge-discharge cycle, and then i will comment.

i have been using anker battery for last few days. looks good so far, it lasts a day. It works great with wifi, but using data on 4g (TMOUS) drains it a lot faster.

Is my battery on its deathbed ?

Ok, so I have my Sensation XE since februrary never experienced battery issues since, except in the past these days. I usually recharge my phone once every 2 days, but now I am *forced* to recharge it every day right before going to sleep.
I don't know what to say excepting giving you some situations. I fully charged my phone saturday at around 5-6 PM. Next day at around 5 PM my battery went to a little under 15%. My phone usage was minimal (only 45 minutes of display), i don't really talk much on the phone, I don't remember how many minutes I spent on phone calling during that time, but I know it was around 10-15 minutes MAX.
Now more recently... i fully charged my phone on the following day (sunday, yesterday) at around 11 PM. Now it's 7 PM, Monday and i'm sitting on 14% 2h27m display time (in 20h30m since discharging from 100%). I usually get a time of 1d10h with 2 hours of display on, but now I'm struggling to get more than 24 hours.
I'm really considering replacing my battery with a better one (not the OEM standard one).
PS: I haven't changed my usage habits, I haven't installed anything that could drain my battery (besides, I always follow the "Awake" bar on the battery history details, and it's ok), I'm using stock ROM.
Try rooting and install different ROM. See if it helps. If not then maybe its time to get a new battery. Btw Anker 1900 mah battery is cheap and works very well. I bought some time back and really happy with this.

No. I want to keep it stock.
If you're going to get a new battery, I'd advise you to get an Anker.
I'd try another battery then if you want to keep stock not much can be done in the way of tweaking. I highly recommend a extended battery. Anker is a good one. If you want an even bigger battery try mugen. Most are very happy with Anker.its inexpensive and works well..best of luck.

I've solved my problem, the battery is fine. I removed Google+ (or at least the data associated with it).

Battery Drain after update to OOS 11

Hi guys,
today i updated my OP 8 to OOS 11.0.2.2 and noticed a very fast battery drain...
Anyone else with this problem here (and maybe a solution ?)???
Should i rollback to OOS 10 and wait a few more update?
Thx a lot and greetings!
@stefan.irmen
How long after installing Android 11 on your OnePlus 8 did you notice this strange battery drain? If you noticed this during your first battery cycle I would wait and see what happens once you charge up again. See if it still seems strange. I've had my phone's have crazy drain during cycle one after flashing something new then afterwards never had it occur again.
I know you more than likely already know this since you are on XDA but I always only charge my devices until they're done and immediately take them off the charger and I only ever use the same exact charger that came with my devices because others aren't made for it properly and many generic chargers don't get any tests ran to make sure they're truly whatever the description says they are on their packaging.
I installed it today in the morning on 8 am and noticed it the whole day... After installing the update i did some new settings and after all i cleared cache and did a restart...
But you are right, i will charge my device now over night and will have a look about it the next days... Then i will make a short report if it is better ;-)
Taking off the device after charging isnt easy for me, because i often have to charge it over night when i sleep... But didnt have such draining problems over years with a lot of devices (except Apple )!

Taking off the device after charging isnt easy for me, because i often have to charge it over night when i sleep... But didnt have such draining problems over years with a lot of devices (except Apple )!

I use a OnePlus 6t now and the Dash wall charger and it takes me less than an hour to charge it every night. I just plug up when I get home in the evening and grab it a hour later and take it off and let it idle all night and get up next day and grab it and go. I'm at 98-99% from 100% by next morning. I use this way I charge up to kinda keep ma eye on my idle drain as well in case I have any rouge apps, I'd know when I wake up. I always flip data and all off just before I go to sleep. I'm sure your OnePlus 8 gets better battery life than my two year old OnePlus 6t does but I'm a BIG battery guru. To me, battery life is vital. I clear 7-8 hours SOT on my 6t depending on what all I do with it. When I'm off work I probably get 6-7 hours SOT and 20-25 hours total before I end up plugging it in again. I never plug up at night in single digits, my battery is usually 15-20% when I plug her in to my OnePlus Dash wall charger. I set things up from within my phone to be aggressive far as doze goes. (I use naptime & servicely apps) I know these OnePlus phones don't even need any extra tweaking far as battery goes but when I started modding Android back on Nexus S I first came to XDA trying to get my Samsung Galaxy S2 to get better battery life. I never would have imagined I would from that day forward read XDA news and go over whatever device I'm using at the times forum.
I didn't know I even was interested in computers, software development.. Coming here and reading is something I've done daily for hours since the Nexus S days.. Besides things like brushing my teeth and taking a shower, you know usually common human things, XDA has been probably one of the only things I've done daily all those years and never gotten tired of it.

Thanks for your large answer and the little look in your interests ;-)
So far i'm using my device today, everything seems normal, lets have a look on it in the evening...
It's very exemplary how you use and treat your battery - but i'm sure 99% of the user (including me) don't do that... And i think we don't want this, because -for me- my phone is a daily driver and i'm using it every day for a lot of things - if the battery lasts 1-2 years its quiet enough! After that time i will have a newer phone Mostly after one year ;-)
