I have just brought an add on for my car head unit to enable bluetooth handsfree operation. It has the options for displaying text messages and some other features but they are all greyed out and only normal phone calls can be done.
Also the phone display turns on when you receive a call and so if its in your pocket you can press the screen by mistake.
Has anyone else used features like text alerts or with windows mobile devices or know any way to get these extra features working with car hands free kits.
I cant find anything much on the net so hope someone can help!
Bluetooth Profiles
The only thing I can think of is that a Bluetooth profile that supports the functionality you require is not enabled.
Check Profiles under Bluetooth settings and try enabling some of the unchecked profiles.

Is it possible to have my phone automatically pair up and start using it as the audio device when I turn bluetooth on? I have the new AT&T Tilt and bought a Motorola DC800 bluetooth receiver for my car. I'm new to this whole pda phone thing - and as of right now - I have to go into the settings of the bluetooth menu and click/hold on the DC800 and say "Set as Wireless Stereo"... since I get in and out of the car a lot - I'm looking for a way to avoid having to do these extra clicks...
Any registry tricks or programs that will auto connect for me?
Look for A2DP Toggle. It should solve your problem... not that it would automatically pair, but give you a much easier way to accomplish the above than what you are doing at the moment.
Hi all,
I am trying to use the factory bluetooth integration in my car, and from everything I've read, it requires SAP (or rSAP?) to work properly. I've never had trouble pairing to the bluetooth module, but the car still insists there is no phone.
After messing with it yesterday and installing SAPSettings, I can hear the speaker of the phone in the car's audio, but no microphone, and it still says "insert phone" in the car's phone menu as apposed to downloading the phone book and letting me dial on the screen.
The phone lists the SAP profile among many others, but if I go into the settings of the car's bluetooth connection, it only lets me choose "Hands Free", with an on/off checkbox. It seems like thats what it sensed was available from the car, and offers nothing else, but I'd like to force SAP instead.
Car: MB E-Class
Phone: Sprint HTC Touch
OS: WM 6.5
Thanks!
I'm going to put the official windows mobile 6.1 on it to see if it makes a difference.
bluetooth is a long list of various profiles
problem is that devices only need to implement 1 or 2 to call themselves
bluetooth devices and no if the maker of the bluetooth stack in both ends
didn't implement a profile you can't force it
I have this problem trying to get my HD to connect to my landrover freelander 2 hse. I can get it to connect to the phone, but cant get the call to play thru cars speakers.
Dont bother with winmo 6.1 or official rom, just doesnt work at then (cant connect).
Only way i can get it to work is with winmo 6.5 (manila 2.5) (profiles must have newer or more stable settings). Only thing i have to do then is to make a call (normally voicemail) turn privacy on, then off again and voila it plays thru speakers.
Downside is i have to do this everytime i start the engine.........
Now that probably doesnt help you much but you will probably find from your car manufacturer that you device is not supported with you cars handsfree bluetooth kit.
the only one fully compatible with the freelander 2 is................. an phone
I finally talked my wife into an Android phone when it was time to upgrade from her outdated flip phone. She hasn't gotten completly used to it and only uses the basic phone/internet/app funcitons at the moment. For her birthday I am getting her a car stereo that has bluetooth built in. I want to set up a bluetooth task/widget that will:
Turn on bluetooth
check for car connection
if present:
turn on vlingo,
give menu of media apps to chose from.
turn up bluetooth/media volume
if not present turn off bluetooth:
If disconnected from car bluetooth for more than 5 min (walk away from car).
Turn off all the above.
Is this possible? I know it is a lot to ask, but I really want to make this easy for her for her birthday so she will actually use it
I am new to Tasker so I may ask follow up questions.
Thanks in advance,
shadow.
I have not been able to find a thread about voice controlling the actual bluetooth as opposed to bluetooth dialling. I was looking for an app which could fix it for me if I forget to turn on my bluetooth before driving away. I found multiple apps such as Jeannie which offer voice control over everything else, but the snag with bluetooth (the only thing I genuinely need voice control over!) is that while it succeeds in recognising that I want to turn on Bluetooth, up pops a box saying that an app wants to activate my bluetooth, allow it to do so, yes or no. Not very voice controlled if I have to press a button to confirm that I want my phone to carry out the instruction given by voice command.
Is there a way to get rid of this pop-up for authorised apps, or some other way to activate Bluetooth without touching the phone screen that would not require rooting? I can't be messing around trying to press the correct part of the screen when I'm flying along at 60mph, but I can't risk missing calls because the Bluetooth is not enabled.
Hello Guys,
I created this app because i have a kia sportage 2013 with basic bluetooth capabilities pickup calls and bluetooth audio.
So i tried tasker to fullfil my need but tasker was to buggy for me. So decided to create an app that will make my basic bt radio into a smart one but making sure i dont have to look at the phone as that is dangerous and i have seen my self doing stupid stuff just to check on a notification.
So the point is to use the phone but not even look at it so you can pay attention to the road.
This is the best friend (BFF) of your Bluetooth Car Radio or speaker, headsets, headphones.
Features:
-Auto play music from your default player as soon it connects to your Bluetooth device.
Ex: get in your car, turn it. phone auto connects to car and start playing music through bluetooth using your favorite player.
Get off the car bluetooth disconnects, music stops playing.
-Proximity Sensor: You can use the proximity sensor to switch to Next Track on your music player or Open Google Now!
Ex: You are driving, dont like current song, so you dont look at the phone or radio. just hover your hand over the screen and
the next track will start playing. You can also use this option to trigger the assistant and make calls, send SMS, switch to next
song by voice command or any other google voice command.
-SpeakOut incoming Notifications: you can select which apps you want the phone to speak out through your Bluetooth device once you get them, (SMS,Emails, Artist - Song information, hangouts, facebook, etc.
Ex: While driving you will get voice notification of any selected app, you can also use the proximity sensor to shut them up in
case you get something privite and you have company.
-Disable WIFI as soon you connect to your Bluetooth device and re-enable it as soon as you disconnects from bluetooth, perfect for Car rides and save battery.
-Enable Bluetooth if you get a phone call, so it can connect to your Bluetooth device without taking your phone out of your pocket.
Ex: if are into safe as much battery life as you can and dont like to enable BT or you forgot. This option will enable it for
you and connect to your car so you can go hands freeand no stress/danger by looking for your phone in your pocket.
-Max out the Call Volume as soon as you pick it up the call volume incase you turn it down by mistake and ofcourse you cant touch your phone when you drive
-Drive detection,it will enable bluetooth if you are driving a car. in case you forgot to enable BT.
Ex: if you keep BT disable you can use this option to make your phone detect when you are driving so it will auto connect
to your car. It uses GPS but it didnt take more that 1% out of my battery during my testing.
-Android Auto Integration: This option will speak out any notification from android auto.
Ex: if you are privilege and have android auto in your car you can make it shout out all new notification from the android
auto system.
-Still under development, so please bring your feedback and any idea is welcome, i just want people to stay away from their phones while driving and the only way i can do that is to make sure they still have access to the phone with out looking at it.
Thanks and i hope you like. By the way is free:
