I finally thought I'd jump on the M2D bandwagon and see what all the excitement is about.
OK, I'm excited. But also frustrated. I've poked around in the hundreds upon hundreds of posts, but I just can't seem to find some instructions to do some pretty basic things, such as:
Identify which music player to use
Find my music files on my SD card
Identify which Photo Viewer I want to use
Specify Farenheit in Weather
Remove/Replace an application, contact
Add more than one city to Weather
So, before I invest too much time in this, can someone help me out on how to go about this? I'm perfectly willing to edit XML files or whatever to do it, I just don't know what files to edit.

Identify which music player to use
htc audio manager is the default music player that m2d uses.
Find my music files on my SD card
everytime u load the audio manager it automatically searches for new files (off main and sd). and makes them available.
Identify which Photo Viewer I want to use
htc album is default and works pretty well.
Specify Farenheit in Weather
go to weather tab click on menu.. click settings and select farenheit.
the controlling xml for m2d is called htchomesettings.xml and a detailed break down of this xml file is available in the dev and hacking forum by ababraker.

Thanks. That did help a lot. I'm discovering that there are a lot of things to install besides M2D Like audio manager. It's better than WMP, but doesn't really hold a candle to S2P, and I'd like to configure that as my default music player.
HTC Album is kind of in the same boat. Not really as good as S2V, and I haven't yet figured out how to make Album see photos other than in the \Pictures folder. Maybe there's a way.
But at least I got weather working for me

Quick question, probably a stupid one (I've tried searching for the answer here, but couldn't fin one, probably because it's to simple to mention)

With Titanium on Windows mobile 6.5, how do you change the location of the pictures in the Pictures tab of titanium.
It automaticallly looks in device\my documents\my pictures
but I have everything in Internal storage\my documents\my pictures
I've tried setting the album as favorite, I've tried advanced configuration tool
Nothing seems to work, any suggestions?

Please take your time to read the rules..
create a folder in your storage card root and name it PICTURES... all images you put in this folder will automatically show in the Titanium photo panel.

remember the folder name is case sensitive ..."PICTURES" in the root of your storage card...

Got it working now, only problem is, now I can´t get my camera to store the pictures there, even with advanced config tool.
Any ideas?
edit your registry...
go to...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\General
EnableDCIM
change the DWORD value to 1
soft-reset.
now all your cam shots will go to \Storage card\DCIM
and it will show up in the Titanium photo panel... hopefully.
i'm still checking the registry on how to make the cam shots lead to PICTURES folder... i'll keep you posted mate.

It's working!
Old thread I know, but this is a two part problem that took me ages to solve and now it's working on my diamond.
These are registry edits to do two things - change the camera default save directory to \Internal Storage\PICTURES (this makes them show on the main Titanium page), and then make the HTC Album the default viewer.
1. reg edit hklm/software/htc/camera/image
change savefolder 0409 key name to the country code your phone is set to in regional settings (0409 is US English, search google for '0409 language code' to find yours)
change the key value to '..\..\Internal Storage\PICTURES' [without quote marks, note the two ..\'s, this is because the diamond calls it 'internal storage' instead of 'storage card']
2. reg edit HKLM\Software\Mircosoft\Shell\Rai\:MSPIMG
change the value for '1' to 'HTCAlbum.exe'
The last frontier is to change the default directory for the 'all photos' titanium softkey, but it seems to be hard coded. But with this method you just need to choose 'all' from the 'album' menu and it will show all the pics - if you press on the main titanium bar it opens the PICTURES directory now anyway, so you can just put all your pics in there.
I have 4 duplicate shortcut icons in my start menu. They are htc music, footprints, people and calendar. They appeared after i installed then removed a cab file to extend number of icons in home screen from 9 to 16,
Can someone help me to remove them, many thanks. Also does anyone know where footprint images are stored, and is there a way to plot images taken with camera using GPS other than footprint

Create new folders, move icons around...hide some, and, yes, delete as well...
I have the same problem of having duplicate shortcuts. There are the originals which have the usual icons, and the duplicates do not have custom icons, just a blank icon.
The problem with just deleting it in windows/start menu/programs is that I do not know which is the one with the icon, and which is the duplicate.
I started by deleting HTC Twitter as I do not use Twitter and deleted the one with the icon, and do not want to repeat with the other shortcuts. After a reboot the HTC Twitter icons have returned.
Any suggestions?
If they are returning then just use your file explorer "i use Total Commander" to change the properties to hidden

When I look at File Explorer on the mobile I can see two copies of the duplicated icons, when I look on File Explorer on my PC only one copy is visible.
I changed the attribute of HTC Twitter to 'hidden' and it is still visible on the phone.

If you delete the HTC shortcuts to Peep, People, Messaging etc and reset, they always come back. To hide these shortcuts for good (not the apps just the shortcuts) use the tweak below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable
Change to 0 and soft reset. You may need to change their shortcut's properties to hidden by accessing them in Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder.

Hi everybody.
Just deleted my HTC Calendar icon from Windows/start menu/programs. But deleted the original instead of duplicate. Is there a way to recover it somehow ? Or replace it with a downloaded one ? The duplicate is working now but too ugly.

Good tips.
I connected my HTC HD2 to Win Mobile Device Center, and thru the activesync connection, i go to File Explorer on the PC to try to change the attribute to Hidden for those 4 duplicated shortcut files on HD2...but in my File Explorer i can't get Windows/Start menu/Programs folders to appear...I initially thought the whole folders were "hidden" so i have already set File Explorer in my Win7 PC to show all hidden files...but still not showing those 3 folders (Windows, Start menu, Programs), any idea why? Pls help and let me know.

Have just done the same with the HTC Footprints icon but haven't got a duplicate. The program is still there because Footprints is still available as a Home Screen Tab.
Does anyone know how to re create a shortcut on the start menu?

i've just got my HD2 and noticed this too, can't access my windows folder from my laptop!! - total commander it is... for now!

shortcut links still appearing after being moved
I'm having some issues with moving various shortcut links around...
I've used JSPA program manager to change my HD2 start menu screen (not the sense home screen). I've created a few new folders and moved various shortcut links into the folders to make the start menu screen less cluttered. However I've an issue, which I can't seem to resolve.
I've created a folder "Skyscape" and moved (or at least I thought I'd moved) 60 various Skyscape application shortcuts to the Skyscape folder. After closing JSPA down, and navigating to the start menu screen, all the skyscape shortcuts still appear. Checking the Skyscape folder I find all the links are there, though they appear in a random order - is there any program that can help organize links & folders into varying order i.e. alphabetically, creation date etc.
I've navigated using 'Total Commander' and 'Resco File Explorer' to My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs and I find that the various Skyscape applications links aren't there... and checking the My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs>Skyscape folder I find all the links as expected.
I've also checked HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable is set to '0' which it is... as detailed in hint 42> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Seems like something is amiss, almost like the start menu screen needs some kind of refresh...
Anyone got any helpful advice or hints as to how I can rid myself of the links on the start menu screen?

ive searched all over and found only two cabs for the stock album and they both dont work...i install it gets to the end and says the program has insuffient privleges to install.
Does anyone have any suggestions? or know where i get a working cab for the stock album please??
Im running stock 1.43 rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have album running in the background this can prevent a cab from writing over a file being accessed. also install bsb tweaks and allow unsigned apps (not sure what this does but it sounds relevant and can't harm). see if these help. Otherwise i just use resco photo manager anyway
Thanks for suggestions optiknerv ive done the bsb tweak but still the same. I can access the album on the silder but it just comes up blank and doesnt show pictures. It does however show the number of files but no image comes up.

i think you can't install the cab because the album process is running in the background. install a fully featured task manager, kill the album process and then install the cab you want.
anyway do the images show on sense but not in album? can you see anything accessing album direct from start menu? are you viewing the correct folder where your pictures are?
I can view the pictures if i use the start menu and then go to multimedia but they dont show on sense just blank screen with number of images that i have. Would a fully featured task manager be touch x longpress task manager??? sorry still trying to figure out the wonderful world of WM.

not sure if deleting the contents of \Application Data\HTC\HTC Album\ would help forcing album to refresh the cache? this could make it worse though but its nothing a hard reset wouldn't fix if it all goes tits up

Sweet task manager thanks for that bud.
Um yeah the pictures show up in the link labelled album but they dont show up on the sense interface for photos and videos which sucks coz i like the way you could landscape scroll and what not with a flick of a finger.
I killed the process and install album cab but still no go...ill try another cab from earlier on and see how that goes.

taking a look at my process tree i presume album searcher would also have to be killed. but since you can view images in album not sense i wouldn't have thought that album is your problem. try taking a new picture and see if that pops up in sense. would have thought this would also refresh the cache on the rest.

Try deleting that folder contents listed above first. If not then HR or wait until someone with more knowledge than myself gets out of bed lol.
Ok does anyone else find this weird....i have try all the above mentioned methods and even hard reset to factory standard and now when i install one cab file even if its remove top bar or change to cookie tab home screen the same problem comes up. I cant view pics in the sense album using slider and i cant set an alarm i can get into the menu but it just comes up blank.
Any suggestions???

Just got my hd2 (tmobile) day before yesterday and its amazing, i can go on and on about it
on my previous winMo device i had spb mobile shell installed which allowed me to add a shortcut tab "my shortcuts" on the home screen clicking on which would open a window where i could have my favorite programs, contacts, docs etc in one place.
is this possible to do this on the home screen of sense UI, where there are 9 customizable tabs present or is it possible to put a shortcut of any folder on the home screen.
i ask this question because one of tabs on the home screen has a transformers icon on it, and clicking it takes me to the transformers folder on the sd card which has transformers 1 and 2. this same transformers icon/shortcut is also present in programs menu.
i added some mp4 files in the transformers folder on the sd card which has both movies and after doing that when i click on its icon it does direct me to its folder but only shows me the 2 movies not the added mp4 movies.
i hope iam able to explain myself

Touch and hold over an Icon, and drag it off the screen to delete it. Tap to add a new shortcut.
Look into Cookies Home Tab editor to add more shortcuts
Explore folders, find and select program file and hold it, tap copy, now explore windows folder-startmenu- programs- edit- paste shortcut, done. Now you can add it to quick links. If I understand you right.

yes you understand completely what iam trying to do,

but i am trying to do this for a folder not a single file.
i tried coping a few files and or their shortcuts and put them in a folder in programs folder, when i click on home tab slot it show me add quick link menu which shows program, contact, bookmark.
when i go into program it shows me those files but not the whole folder than i am trying to add.
any advice.

I am Resco explorer 2010 and it works well for me. For testing purpose I have created a shortcut of my music folder ( located on Storage Cards) to the startmenue. now I can select it as quicklink...

If you are referring to Cookies Home Tab editor, yes it is uninstallable.
i have a couple of movies in my storage card and i would like to have an icon on my device to each movie on my storage card, that way i can put them in my quick links ,
The T-MoUS version, has Transformers pre-installed. it has a Transformers icon in the start menu that when selected, it opens a window with both movies lined up in a list type format located in the storage card . Is there a way to create your own?

i had to return mine today at the store because it had a small spot inside the screen, maybe a dead pixel, giving the same affect as you would see when you would sprinkle a drop of water on LCD.
the store reps. were acting up for a replacement saying that even when they get new onces they have already reserved them for new customers, also the tmobile (611) rep told me they would be able to help me had i purchased the phone online
so i returned it
