SmartTouch - disable - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello,
I'm using Raphael for months and still is there one disappointing thing. SmartTouch - the round thing below display which works like navigation cross and (that's worse) wheel used e.g. to zoom in Opera Mobile.
Important question: IS THERE ANY WAY TO DISABLE IT?
I won't it. I prefer to use this round thing only as arrows, not a wheel. Often I fast tap upper and then bottom arrow (to scroll in browser) Raphael thinks I will zoom. I think it will be easier to use Raphael when SmartTouch function will be disabled.

Try to delete all programs in list of Advanced Config. Start AdvCfg,then go to Menu-More settings-SmartTouch.

Nope, that's different thing. This only disable listing with SmartTouch but do not disable native ST function - like zooming in Outlook or in Opera Mobile.

Well, new information for me. I am using smartwheel just for scrolling. I don't use Opera and camera I use once per month,so I didn't noticed it. It can be much better,if touchwheel can work inside of Opera for scrolling...

Hello, and merry christmas...
to answer your question, I advise that you use FdcSoft TaskMgr, go to the "Services" tab, look for the "SmartTouch(SMT0" entry, tap & hold to get the menu, then select --> Stop, Set Manual, and finally Disable.
Voila...
Cheers

How-to looks great, but there is something wrong - no process you described in my device Nor something similar.

htc cube...scroll wheel control?

hi,
is it possible to map the ptt button to bring up the cube and use the wheel to rotate it? I'm using dutty's new rom and I'm impressed with the speed of the cube...but I find the touch screen control useless for any sort of fast navigation...the scroll wheel would be a perfect alternative...espicially for 1 handed use.
Thanks
How would you like to control the cube with the scrollwheel? It just can turn up and down and not right or left.
Surely you can assign the cube to a button. Just use the command in the touch settings (i don't have a cube so you have to look for it) and create a link out of this in the windows\start menu\programs-folder. Perhaps you might call this one "Start Cube". Then go to Start>Settings>Personal>Buttons and assign this link to the button you like.
well would like to use the wheel to rotate the faces (ex: wheel up > cube rotates left ) and the ptt button to open up the cube and close it down...I can't find a way to assign buttons to the different commands of Tflocubectrl.exe (I assume that would be the way to do it) and wanted to know if anybody had a solution for this.
I like the fact that the cube offers quick acces to contacts and other functions in any program...I just hate to control it with strokes...it's just way too sluggish...I thought it would be a very nice feature if its not too difficult to implement.
That would be neat, unfortunately I don't think I've seen anyone else talk about it!
You can posibly do it with AE Button Plus. You will need a flash cube however, i.e. Slither2006 SCLPF 1-62.
I believe that with AE B+ you can assign the scroll wheel as a button. However you would need to individualy call for each ratation which means Okay = SCLPF.swf; Down Roll of wheel = left.swf, Up rotat of wheel = contacts.swf - something like that. So you see you will only have a three sided cube. Not sure of this 100%, it's been a while since I played wit AEB+ & the flash cube. I may have only gotten two sides running.
I see...thanks for the help I will try it out when I have time
were you able to assign scroll wheel to rotate the cube ?
I want that feature as well but I can't figure it out
Wow
This is probably one of the best ideas ive seen posted here in a while! The useless 2 handed way cubes are setup now make them only useful for showing off ur phone to friends. Using the scroll wheel and only 1 hand would actually make the phones cube useful for everyday tasks on the go. Maybe we could have to scroll wheel button pushed in to open cube and then have a chef here make a cube that only goes up or down instead of 4 different directions, i.e. up,down, left, right, thats really only for showing off puposes and not everyday life/business. This would make a cube much more effective and useful especially only needing 1 hand to do it instead of making a project of trying to get the damn cube to respond to ur finger swip across the screen that never works 1st try, haha. Hopefully Dutty or someone will take this serious and cook it into their next rom!
intersting how different ppl use things different ways. I only ever use the cube with one hand. I find it works way better using the thumb than using your other finger.

anyone using Opera mini?

I'm a big user of Opera mini; given the lack of buttons on the Raphael, I'm concerned it is not well-suited for one-handed use. I'm currently using a Treo 700wx and use the exposed keyboard's numeric keys to scroll (2/4/6/8) and #5 to zoom in and out. The whole navigation is extremely fast and smooth. What is the experience like on the Raphael?
Why not just use opera mobile (it's preinstalled)?
smooth zoom, using the touch wheel.
scroll with thumb on screen, or press direction arrows on touch wheel.

and you can rotate the screen with the accelerometer, no need to pull out the keyboard!

Opera mini works perfectly on raphael.
Some webs are very heavy and are surfed much quickly with opera mini.....
What if you're laying in bed on your side reading the phone? Can you turn off the automatic flip thing, because in that position it would always be wrong
I tend to use opera mini when i'm out and about as it uses data compression, hence reducing loading times and the amount of data downloaded. However, i have found that even with the text size set to maximum, the font is still very small and soemtimes difficult to read. It can also be difficult to select items unless you use the stylus.
does the scroll wheel to zoom work in opera mini? otherwise i think it will be impossible to surf one handed due to the lack of buttons.

Nope... the "home" and "back" buttons are not intercepted by Opera Mini so they both bring you back to the TF3D home screen.

There is a version of opera mini 4.2b that supports vga screens and large fonts. From your phone use opera mobile and go to http://mini.opera.com/beta/ Then click the link that says "If this version fails..." and download the first version with multiple certificates.

Thanks for the link.
I installed that version on my Fuze and it works very well except for the fact that I cannot zoom in or out. I can pan around the zoomed out page using the 2, 4, 6 & 8 keys (on the hardware keyboard), but pressing the 5 key only activates the mouse pointer.
Is anyone else having trouble zooming?
In Portrait mode, I use the capacitive scroll sensor (circle around the joystick) to scroll. I had to add "Java" as a running app in Advanced Config 3.3 SmartTouch settings to do this. In portrait, hitting the Back button does not scroll back (minimizes the app), so you have to use your finger to hit the back/right soft key on the screen. In Settings, make the font the largest helps to make this bigger.
Opera Mini 4.2 works better in landscape on this device. You can use the arrow keys to move around on the keyboard. You can use the Del//<-- key to go back. You can also use Function Lock (double press Fn) to lock in the numerica keys for scrolling around, though 5 does not do anything for me.
Thanks for your help.
I've never used Opera Mini before and I think maybe I just wasn't using it properly. I didn't have "overview mode" enabled in the settings, and I believe that must be enabled for zooming to function.
I also configured Java to use Smarttouch, which is allowing me to scroll a box around the screen which will zoom to that portion of the screen when I click the center button. Thanks for the tip.
I can't get the zoom feature to work at all in landscape mode though. It just stays zoomed in all the time. I can pan around the screen using the number keys, but I can't zoom out.

Keyboard shortcuts for OK n Start ???

hi guys,
Hope some one can tell me , how to create shorcuts like "Ok" and "StartMenu" on the keyboard.I think this feature would be very useful ,,, I am sure some body might be thinking about this already ?
And one more thing I heard is the American model touch pro At& T model has "ok" and startmenu keys on the keyboard, so if upgrade the uk model htc touch pro rom with AT & T rom , then will I be able to use the keyboard shortcuts ?
Expecting some answers from our pro colleagues....
vj
For me can be better to unbind the home/back buttons from their default functionalities and handle them with AEBPlus. So I can have 4 functions on each button without their preinstalled functionalities.
I am not sure you can unbound home. Anybody tried?

Yes Home will be really important so yuo have a better use of the phone with a single-hand. Hope someone will fix this topic!
any more suggestions here with regards to home and OK buttons on KEyboard ?
Thought I will bump this , so that some one can answer to this really!
I'm using PQzII to map Ctrl+Enter → OK. You can also setup keyboard shortcuts for Start, Today, Alt+Tab, etc.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
This remap the keyboard AND buttons or only the keyboard?

Thank you for the tip , I will try this and then I will report back.
PQzII it's a wonderful app, works nicely!
Thanks!
nice app, i will try this out as well
I realize that configuring PQzII might not be very obvious, so here's some hints on how I've set it up for myself:
Run PQzII_Setup.exe to open the options.
Set CTRL as CTRL. I want to use my FN key as ALT, so enter the key code 0xEC for ALT since there is no actual choice for FN (more info below):
Now I can use FN+[key] mappings to simulate a regular PC.
FN+S → Start menu
FN+D → Desktop/Today screen
FN+Tab → Alt+Tab to switch programs
PQzII doesn't list all available keys (such as FN) but you can use PQz_CHECK to figure out the keycode and then manually enter it into PQzII if it isn't listed. For example, the SYM key is 0xE6. Just be sure to exit PQzII before you run PQz_CHECK:
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQz_CHECK.htm
Note: there's some inconsistency in how the TPro and PQzII handle sticky keys differently, so you might have to press some keys twice. Also, it goes without saying that you might get problems if you map shortcuts that already have functions, like FN+W → £.
Hope that helps
Edit--
After some testing, it might not be such a good idea to use the FN key for mapping because the Raphael uses it as a double-sticky key (ie: press FN once for one symbol, press FN twice for FN-lock). Since PQzII treats function keys as single-sticky keys, it gets pretty buggy.
Thank you & one more request
I have also tried this software and I must say , this is a must app for every Touch Pro Users , you can literally run anything with this software.
Only one more hurdle left for me with htc touch pro, when I am using any 3rd party RDP clients like citrix ica client, input is not taking from the keyboard, its only accepting it from virtual keyboard, there is one more thread already opened for this. Hope someone can crack this one fianl issue for touch pro.
Thanks to all the users who suggested this app.
Crosslinkage
Although the current result of my little research project is limited to being able to define a different keycode for the back button for _every window class_, perhaps with some more work it could lead to actually being able to remap the back button properly.
The home button can be (slightly) tweaked using post messages as well, but more work is required.

remap "back" button in IE?
It's not perfectly matching the topic but I don't want to start a new thread since it also somehow matches the topic:
Does anyone know if it's possible to map the "back" hardware-key in PocketIE as "history back"? In Pocket Outlook for example you can use the back-button to return from an email to the folder list but in PIE if you hit the back-button you just minimize PIE.
Problem with install.
When i install the app to my Touch pro, i can see the icon, but when i launch the app, all it does is show a small white square next to the "START" (top left)
I have uninstalled itn and re-installed but with no success.
Any ideas guys

tap on the small white square, select "Setup" in Kontext.
Or run the setup application located in Mein Gerät (my device) - Programme (programs) - PQzII - PQzII_Setup
How can i make PQzII launch 2nd today?
I can't seem to make it find the program.
EDIT:
Copy the .ink to somewhere within my documents (I used templates nice and out of the way)
Then add a shortcut to a program select view all files and find the shortcut.
Installed and couldn't get the app started. In fact it kinda hanged my Touch Pro.
So it would be better if it works with Fn , cuz we all use it more than any key ...
nobody suggest it to the programmer ?

Go Back/Front option in Start menu

One of the things I find annoying in browsing for apps through the Programs entry in the start menu is that if you browse sub folder in it (like Games) you can't go back without closing the Programs menu...
Is there any freeware and lite app or hack that can add a Back and Front options to the WM bottom bar only when browsing Programs?
Thanks in advance
Bump...
Come on it's been a week... Doesn't anyone know of an answer?
Sorry if this seems shameless but if I get it right this thread has only one week left and then will be deleted...
If nobody posts an answer, then it's probably because nobody has one.
I don't have an answer for your question, but a piece of advice instead: ditch the default start menu - it's crap Use QuickMenu, TouchLaunch or MortButtons (this one takes some time to configure properly but it's probably the most powerful), or more than one of them. They all have their pros and cons, but all are better than the default start menu that hasn't changed at all since windows CE 3.0 (probably since 1.0, but 2 is the oldest one i used ). QuickMenu is great because it behaves like the start menu on a "big" windows - it's cascading plus it has some neat options lik ebuilt in task manager, screen rotation and SIP selection. Also, it can replace the default menu entirely. But it's not very finger friendly and it's best used with a D-Pad, a stylus or with a finger where you're not in motion. But it's rather hard to use with a finger on a bike or on a bus.
TouchLaunch is still a beta, but works really smoothly, and is very finger friendly. Also, it can view all shortcuts you have in the start menu ignoring folder structure, so as long as you know program's name, it will be really easy to find.
All of them are free and availible here at xda-devs, just do a search. So my advice is to try them all and choose the one you like the best, but forget about the default menu.
Thanks for the reply
I realized that people might not now the answer but they might as well have missed the thread since it was burried by a whole week of q&a's...
I've actually tried QuickMenu and TouchLanch in the past but I removed both. The first is a lot less finger-friendly than Omnia's big screen implementation for the start menu and seemed kind of unstable (at least the version I tried. I switched to wktask as a task manager/lister/launcher (I keep only the most usefull shortcuts).
The second is kind of heavy, didn't fit to my whole screen (and I couldn't config it to... at least that version) and the Launcher that comes with Omnia has a feature very similar to it (which is also heavy... that's why I still use the default Program folder sometimes)...
I generally use the default Start menu Programs browser for apps I use less often.
Will try MortButton though I don't know if this is what I'm looking for (or if I can even use it)... I always thought there would be a small .exe or scipt to address this WM flaw.
I don't understand what do you mean?
When I go to 'Programs', then 'Games' via the start menu, if I press OK it takes me back to Programs.
Maybe you have a task manager set up that closes windows when you press OK.
Strange... Is there an "OK" in your system? Mine is WM 6.1 (oficial rom). I don't have any buttons in the bottom bar while browsing Games and on the top bar there's an "X" in the right.
It doesn't seem to be the task manage. I'm pretty sure I remember this behavior as the default and I just double checked after exiting wktask and even after a soft-reset (with it's autorun feature disabled)... Even without a task manager that folder is closed without returning to Programs...

[Q] Scroll slider?

Hi,
I tried to search on this forum but with no success if is there any application/mod that changes the look of the standard windows mobile scroll slider? or better have them disapper?
Thanks.
i am searching for something like that too!
If you're talking about the scroll bar on the side, there is a registry key that tells how wide you want it. You can make it really thin, or wide. There is also FtouchSL that enables finger scrolling in all apps.

I was looking to skin it too but being able to hide it will at least not show that ugly shape. Do you please have more infos on the registry key?
Thanks.
found it, thanks
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE]
cyHScr=13 - Default height of horizontal scrollbar
cxVScr=13 - Default width of vertical scrollbar
You can download Schaps Advanced config. Its a tool that allows you to easily make these changes. Just launch the app-->go to user interface-->vertical scrollbar width. Set it to 0 pixels = no scroll bar. Ditto for the horizontal scroll bar.
Now if only I knew how you guys plan on scrolling through the screen without a scrollbar...lol
i strongly suggest NOT to hide your scroll slider unless you have a backup of your system.
not all apps support touch scrolling and you might get stuck.
