Hi, I've tried searching around with little luck. I'm running a Fuze with stock ROM and hacked up TF3D to my preferences. The one thing that I don't want or need anymore is the Start Menu button at the upper left. Is there any way (or any software) that will just shut it off? Obviously the task bar I'd like to keep with the status indicators and the current running program title bar there, I just wont want the start button.
Suggestions?

hi all.
in \windows\ I have an executable called keylocktray.exe
when I run it an icon appears in my task tray on the today screen but nothing happens.
anyone know what it's for - except for locking the keys, and why it does nothing.
i'm just interested.
wm5 - imate rom 2.16.9.1 wwe.
phone is a wizard.
what's that task tray for anyway? only tomtom seems to use it and since you need to go to start-today to access it anyway, isn't it easier just to click start-tomtom?
Hi eayuwna!
Actually the tray is used by many programs, but I guess you don't have the ones in question.
It acts pretty much like the tray in desktop windows (the icons next to the clock).
Have you tried clicking on the icon that appears there?
On my jamin (prophet) for example, the tray is used by the comm manager and the battery meeter. That way I can access power manager and comm manager from today screen without them taking up space in the start menu.
Keep in mind that start menu only lets you have 7 items in it. That's why there are programs like VJTrayLaunch (www.vijay555.com) that let you put icons in the tray to launch apps directly from today screen.
ok
ok. that's new to wm5 I think? is it?
I suppose if you have your device default to the today screen after inactivity then it's useful.
I do have comm manager there too but the wizard has a hard key for it so I rarely use the icon.
when I click the icon concerned it changes to a keyboard symbol with a padlock and a line thru but all the hardware keys still work. can someone else give it a try to see if it does anything on other phones?
incidentally, speaking of the battery icon, my old Qtek ROM used to have the cool green version. Since upgrading to the imate ROM I now only have the crappy windows one (actually I have wisbar).
Is there an executable I can get off someone with a QTek one that will give me my good taskbar battery meter back?
***EDIT***
Scratch that; I've just looked through the windows folder some more and found Powertray.exe. Copy this as a shortcut to \windows\startup to get it back.
The tray icon for Keylocktray.exe toggles the option for turning on the backlight using any hardware button. I love functionality but want to enable it always and remove the tray icon. Can anyone give me pointers on how to do this.
hey guys im sure its been asked before and been answered many times but somethings going on with the search function of this site its not giving any results that help
i want to remove that system tray and the 2 soft key buttons and the bottom bar ( all the stuff found at the bottom of my screen) i dont want to lose the functions of the keys i just dont need to see them there cuz i already know what they do and i think the screen real estate could be better utilized by LG menu which im trying to use
and also while im at it can any one help me figure out how to get the LG menu bar tp the bottom of the screen( in place of the tray and bottom bar with softkeys that im asking u to help me remove)
Thnxs again everyone
bumpity bump
have you found a way to solve the problem and remove finally the system tray and the softkeys?
could you post it
thanks
for anybody else that ever wants to remove the top or bottom bar, do search for TodayToggle and/or DciNoBar

check out the cabs provided by Spencepu3 ( 4th post from the top)
to remove the softkeys you need a program called dcinobar.exe. Once you download it just put in on your device somewhere and make a shortcut to put in your windows/startup folder and it will run every time you start your device. to get your softkeys back just delete it
And to remove the tray icons ( namely the battery and wifi icon in the tray) go to windows/startup using file explorer and delete wifinit and initray that should get rid of them.
anh lemme make it easy heres the link to DciNoBar

I think epimazzo may have included this option in his KhanX lite V3.1 rom. I am using the rom now - and there is no bottom tray or soft keys.
Either that - or I did something wrong during install.
The soft keys are still working - but do not appear on screen.
I've tried a bunch of new 6.5 UI roms and I am facing this problem with all of them.
1. The OK button (bottom right) does not close applications. It simply minimizes them. This is really frustrating since I dont know what apps are open until i pull up the task manager. This also drains battery life. How do i make the OK button close an app? (detailed instructions appreciated)
2. The earlier UI used to have a quick task manager on the top right corner from which we could switch apps and close them. that doesnt come anymore, instead i get this new and useless notification bar. How do i make it show the quick task manager? (detailed instructions appreciated)
The above 2 make it really annoying to switch/close apps because once u minimize, the only way to go back to them it seems is to pull up dot fred task manager.
3. Pressing the home button on the device while running an app (the home iconed hardware button under the screen) takes me to the opened start menu not the home screen. when i exit out of the start menu it takes me back to the app, so i cannot access my homescreen unless i press ok on the app and minimize it, is there any way to make the hom button take me to the homescreen?
Thank you in advance?
1 & 2 : use showcase : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4030896
3 : use end button instead of home (which is an HTC non-sense, get the start menu like your rom is configured is really a better idea)
fantastic app - showcase. that solves my task manager problem, but i still have to press start, go to apps and press showcase to bring it up, can i have it mapped on the notification area so i can simply fire it up without having to go to the start menu?
thanks.
I have been having issues with Showcase not wanting to install or run properly on the newest 6.5 build 23071. If I load v1.0.1 It will work for the most part and I can configure it to still to close a program by clicking on the clock.. How ever when I switch to the newer 1.1.0 build I can not get the lower X to close thing like it should by either holding it or by setting to single tap.
I'm currently doing a hard reset because of trying taskfacade and trying to go back to Showcase.
i just installed 1.1.0 and it seems to be working fine. i even managed to figure out how to bring it up from any app. just tap and hold the win key and it comes up. very nice software.
Ya I have it back up and working. The only other issue to look forward to with Showcase is that some report it closing tmail.exe from time to time. I also map my PTT short press to open it for those programs that take the full screen and do not have the Windows icon.
You can also check out AEButton+. You have to pay for it, but it's pretty cheap. I got it last week, and have no idea why I didn't get it sooner. Haven't tried it on the newer com3 builds yet (still using com2), but I'm pretty sure it will close things. It isn't tied into the displaced 'X' button like a lot of task managers. You can close apps with a button push, and it also has a nice little task manager pop-up that you can also map to a button push (similar to the htc quick menu). You also get ~dozen more mappable button pushes on a fuze. It's really worth it, although I haven't tried a com3/4 6.5 build yet.
Newer WM6.5.1 builds such as 23071... clicking on the clock brings up the new drop down taskbar...
Running HTC Task Manager, you have to tap and hold, then release to get the task manager to shop up. Does Showcase experience this as well?
It seems to be with the new builds. I would assume Showcase would function the same.
Why don't you people just use inbuilt taskmanager.exe from Windows folder? I've configured it to open with long press "send" key (talk button), and it's working great.
I use aebutton and tie it to my Ok/Back key to close apps and it's working like a treat. that's the best way to really close apps I feel
i have a custom winmo 6.5 rom aslo, everything runs good on it, except the onscreen keyboard is useless now, all i can seem to enter are numbers only and i have messed with the input settings to see if that can correct it and so far to no avail or maybe im just one of the weird people who actualy use the onscreen compact qwerty i dunno.
Hey guys.
Wanted to see if anyone could figure out a way to remove the recent apps from the notification pull down menu. It's not a huge annoyance, but it takes up a lot of space and I never use it (usually cos I forget it's there).
I searched the forum but couldn't find anything relevant to the Inspire.
Would be much appreciated
Also, I do understand that the various power notification mods out there give you the option to remove/add the recent apps, but I prefer the nice sense power widgets What can I say, I'm a sucker for sense.
This involves modifying the Sense framework, which can only be done if rooted...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Why prefer sense power widgets when to turn WiFi on when your in the browser for example, you have to exit to home screen, open settings, select wireless and network, etc...-then go back to what you were doing. Or just pull notification bar down where ever you are and press 1 button?
Just wondering.

Click to collapse
I think he's talking about the 'recently used apps', not the toggles.
I too support this. Cos long press on home anyways brings up the recent apps.
By the way, if u use GingerBeast by dilli, u won't have have these. And u won't have sense either.
Need TASKBAR on Android phones like windows on computer, it must be overlay on each open application so we can switch between running applications. Instead of Dock Bar .. Task bar will very useful to operate phone.
Just press and hold the home button?
Thanx,
That was a hint I did not know about
Holding the home button shows you the recently used apps, not ones that are currently running.
