Looking for a way to sync Activsync via external port other than 443 or 80 - General Topics

I have 6800 Titan running custom firmware... the problem with my setup and the default sprint roms is that activesync only uses port 80 and 443 and I can't get ssl to work correctly and port 80 is blocked.
What I'm trying to find is a way to sync via an alt port via software patch/hack or a reg fix that allows me to change defauilt port it syncs to the one I designate on my IIS Server... Any suggestions would be awsome and thanks for your time
I almost forgot I can sync internally on port 80 but due to my isp blocking port 80 I'm sol if I'm not on wifi in my own network... I have multiple ports synced via my iis running port 80 locally and alt ports for same server so it's just a port hack or something I need... I have scoured the web with no sucess on any forums I've searched

Did you try exchangeserverort ?

yes I did servername : port and it fails to work it refuses to use an alt port... I also tried http://servername : port/Exchange and only will stay on port 80... I would think w/ all the posts on other forums somone would've fixed the dang program or hacked it by now... not my specialty
PS spaces in between the colon not on my setup, it makes a smiley

I'm not sure if posting my e-mail would be violating TOS or my PTN to txt but if anyone has any ideas I'm up for anything to fix this and answer all the 50 forums that have been struggling w/ this issue...

Chaning default ports of Imap and smtp

Hi,
I've recently acquired a GPRS data plan for my Wizard.
Unfortunatly they transparantly proxy the connections to Imap port 143 and SMTP port 25!!! So all my emails go through there servers! (T-Mobile netherlands)
It is quite revolting to think they now want to know with who I email, and in theory also look at the contents of my emails!
Anyway, I was wondering whether I can't simply change the ports the wizard connects to (Imap and smtp (pref. through SSL ofcourse)) and make a port forward on my router to my internal mail server.
I'm hoping somone knows where (if) you make this change in the registry?
Thanks!!!
I found the following on this site:
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/corp-e-mail.htm
The ports can be changed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\IMAP4 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\POP3 respectively. The key name is Port and the value is the port to use in either hex or decimal. I do not know of a way to change the SMTP port based on my review of the registry.

So now, I only need to redirect my SMTP traffic somehow?
And the SMTP solution is here:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/specify_outlook_smtp_port
Note do not try this with an existing account. You must create a new account in order for this to work. - Setup your email account and when you get to the Outgoing SMTP enter the server name as specified by your ISP. Proceed the server name with a colon and your desired port number. - Example: smtp.yahoomail.com:2500

So I'm done! Thanks!

Will Arcsoft MMS work with Sprint using Diamond Picturemail server settings?

I have the Sprint Mogul, and was trying to see if i could configure Arcsoft MMS (version 5.0.31.16) to work thru the Sprint server now that the Diamond is released with picturemail capability. I took the advice from here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=58 and set my server address to 68.28.31.1 and my port to 8080 with the gateway blank, and the connect via set as the internet. Now when i try to send an email it goes to 99% sending then i get an error saying "Method Not Allowed", which is different from the usual, "Unable to send your message(s). Your message(s) will remain in the Drafts folder".
The Method Not Allowed error is a server error, and can be caused by the server reading the header of the message and not accepting the information in there. Anyone know how to alter the header of an Arcsoft MMS (prolly a regedit) that could possibly trick the sprint proxy server to accept message.
I also put the ip address 68.28.31.1 in my P.I.E. browser and it opens a pages that says:
"You have reached the Openwave MAG Proxy Server. This server does not serve any web content. Use this server only for routing proxy requests" Anyone know anything about Openwave Mag proxy servers?
I think with the diamond having picturemail it is possible to get Arcsoft MMS to send, its just a matter of having the correct settings to make the proxy server accept the message.
This is just a suggestion, i have tried a few things but i am not an expert in any of these fields i am just going off trial and error, which is ending more in error right now, maybe someone else can take what i have here and be able to fully implement this idea.
Well...
I would love nothing more than to do the same with my Sprint Mogul seems though nobody is too interested in working on this, too bad...
This thread will be moved to the Q&A section.
Next, please post these queries over there.
thanks

Need WM mobile browser with SOCKS proxy support or workaround

Hello,
Im using a htc hd2 with WM6.5
Does anyone know of a mobile browser in which I can change SOCKS proxy settings - just like mozilla firefox? (ive tried minimo and fennec a3, but no good, unless I could use some addon in fennec).
I want to tell my browser to listen on port 1080 for a SOCKS connection (im port forwarding with pocketputty).
Alternatively, does a program like 'tsocks' exist for windows mobile, in which I can socksify for my mobile browser? I havent used tsocks before btw.
Or finally, is there a way to edit the registry in WM6.5 so that the browser does listen on port 1080 for SOCKS?
Thankyou,
Will
yeah...bro..i need sm workaround as well !! please read my thread if it relates !!!
Summary:
I am attempting to use a remote SSH server as a proxy for browsing the web on my htc hd2.
This is called a "Poor man's VPN" - If you have never heard of this, please read this: http ://wiki.freaks-unidos.net/ssh-port-forwarding
I'm currently using pocket putty with dynamic port forwarding to forward port 1080 on a remote SSH server back to my localhost on my device.
I cannot seem to find a mobile browser that has the ability to configure SOCKS proxy settings. I need to be able to tell the browser to use a SOCKS proxy, to listen to localhost on port 1080 which is being forwarded.
Since I havent found a browser to do this, I have tried to use proxycap to sockify a browser. I basically want to redirect the traffic coming from the ssh tunnel with proxycap to the browser even though the browser has no SOCKS support.
I dont have a technical background.
I dont know if this actually works
Is it possible to do the above? If so, how do I configure proxycap to act between the SSH tunnel and the mobile browser...
well I found a way to configure proxy settings on minimo
you type into the URL "about:config".
Then you change some entries
network.proxy.socks......
however, I ran into another problem...does wm6.5 have a problem with with localhost or 127.0.0.1???
Because i read that localhost doesnt work on wm past version 5...
how else can get a loopback address??

SSH tunnel to use Gtalk?

Hi,
I can't access Gtalk on my Desire since the company uses a special APN instead of the standard APN. So the port is closed.
Can I use SSH to port forward somehow and use it? I have an online ssh account.

[Q] Help my nexus s get past the chinese firewall asproxy/connectbot

hi
I have a Nexus S. Great phone. Would be better if I could get around the Chinese Firewall. Just moved to China from US.
I have rooted the phone, I have connectbot and asproxy. I have a server in the US. I can open an ssh connection via connectbot and can forward ports, but I'm not sure what I should forward to - the IP address of my server and port I'm opening on the server? - localhost?.
I tried a few things:
Tried connectbot ssh tunneling to my server, and forward port 80 to localhost:8080, then type "localhost:8080" in my browser. No luck.
Tried with connectbot ssh tunneling to my server, to forward port 80 to server IP address port 22 (this is what I open the connection on via connectbot also). No luck.
Tried with connectbot ssh tunneling to my server, to forward port 80 to localhost:9999, then with ASproxy set up a proxy - which is also to my server.com using my login name, and proxy port 22 (which is what connectbot is connected to) - then tried to have ASproxy forward port 9999 to proxy (port 22). No luck.
I figure it has to be possible.
What I want: to forward all app info (gmail, gtalk, browser, gvoice, SIP, facebook) through the SSH tunnel.
Any thoughts very much appreciated. I feel like I have a faucet, and two hoses, and can't get the water to go through them.
Some interest in my post I guess but no replies.
If I hired a freelancer to program this would it be very complex?
How long would out take a competent developer to build?
