i got this rom made for me by kareem9nba. I could not get past the "tap here to configure" screen, but kareem9nba flashed it to own device, and had no issues with it. Could some one with an at&t tilt, please download, flash, and test this rom... I have flashed it 3 times, all 3 times i can not get past the "tap here to configure" screen. I just want to know if its some problem with my device, or what. I have tried several other roms, all of which have worked great, but they were not what i was looking for. That is why i posted in kareem9nba's custom rom thread, and had this rom made for me. The strange part is, even though the touch screen seems dead, when i press and hold the power button, i get the power off menu, and can select yes or no via the 4-way pad and power down. if i recall, you can not even get to that menu until you complete the device configuration, and make it to the today screen. Its almost like my screen is just stuck on the same image, and never refreshes, while everything just keeps running in the back ground. Please, just so i know if its just my device, or a bad rom, or what, could someone please flash and test this rom to their tilt?
P.S.: To kareem9nba, i mean no disrespect, its just i am at my wits end.
I got you. I'll flash it and see if it works on mine. Hang tight.
edit: Nope, doesn't work. Can't get past the "Touch to Configure..." screen.
would you mind sending a pm to kareem9nba? nice to know / see its not just me. Thanks for testing.
Done. I had to give him props for the BIOS splash screen too.
We can lock this one down...

I've searched everywhere, and I can't figure out what to do. I bought my 8125 with the faria crossbow rom already loaded. I made some registry changes, using the registry wizard. All I changed was to turn off the message sent notification. After a reboot, I see the IPL and SPL (both 2.26)...and then instead of going to the crossbow logo, it just goes blank. After a few seconds, the green light starts flashing...and when I hit anything, all the buttons light up. It almost seems like it's working, but it's not displaying. I've pulled the battery a few times hoping for a miracle, but no such luck. I can get to the bootloader screen. If I understood the instructions correctly, I should be able to flash it from here with the love rom? I downloaded it, and the update utility is not in english. I tried to get through it, and I think I did it right...but I'm pretty sure it was giving me an error saying it couldn't connect. When I plug in the usb cable from the bootloader screen, it does say usb on the bottom. I'm pretty much stuck from here. Does anyone have any suggestions on my next step?
Thanks in advance...
You can just do a hard reset. Turn off the phone, then hold down the comm and Voice buttons then turn on the device. It will ask you to reformat memory. Press the green Call Send button to confirm. This will put you back to a fresh install of that rom (and you will lose anyting you loaded on the phone in regular memory).
If that doesn't work, then you can look at flashing. Read the sticky at the top of this forum on how to flash (by Vippie) and you will be good to go with doing that... Good luck!
The hard reset did it. I tried that earlier, but I guess I wasn't holding one of the buttons down all the way...or something stupid like that. Thanks for the help!
Hi, first let me say im sorry if this has already been covered somewhere, i have spent all day searching the wiki and forum to no avail. If the solution is already here please point me in the direction and delete this thread.
I have just flashed my kaiser from the original vodafone WM6 ROM to Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700. At first everything seemed fine, then when i tried to restore the backup id created with sprite backup it restored, reset and now wont get past the loading screen. It shows the vodafone splash screen then duttys htc screen then goes back to vodafone.
I used Hardspl 3.29 before flashing. I tried hard reseting which made no difference. i cant get into the bootloader (tried the camera, power reset thing loads) and i cant connect to my pc as it wont go past the splash screen.
I had a look at MTTY but it doesnt give the options described in the instructions and after reading the warnings about MTTY decided i shouldnt mess around with what i dont understand.
Any help will be greatly apreciated, i love my phone and the idea that ive just broken it scares the crap out of me.
Thanks
Sandy

first, are you SURE you can't get into bootloader?
I know it sounds stupid, but try REALLY pushing the camera button in while pushing the stylus into the reset hole. Once you get to the bootloader (tri-color screen), try flashing a different ROM
good luck

I agree here a lot of people don't realize the Camera button is a two stage button. It stops at Half-Press then you can push again to get Full Press. You need a Full Press to get into bootloader.
Just to clarify.
Press and hold the camera button and at the same time insert stylus in reset hole and hold until bootloader comes up.
In other words, do not let up until bootloader shows. It should take around 2-3 seconds.
yea ive been doing that. After trying many times i have found that holding the camera button down for around 2 minutes after the htc dutty series screen comes up brings up a white screen with the error message;
"the device is unable to boot either because you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from an untrusted source. press send to reset or any other key to cancel"
The message dissapears if i let go of the camera button, and resets back to the vodafone screen and stays there. If i press the send button same thing happens (just an idiot check but the send button is the green pick up button right?) ive tryed the enter button and both soft keys but all to the same result. I have tried holding down each button on that screen as well and the error message stays as long as i hold the button but when i let go it just goes back to the vodafone splash screen and stays there.
I have tried holding the stylus with the camera button all the way through to this error message, doesnt seem to make a difference.
just to clarify, ive done what you suggest and still cant get into the bootloader.
Thanks for any help, this is driving me mad.
hold the camera button and use the stylus to press the reset button, and continue holding the camera button until the bootloader screen pops up.
i used to let go the camera button as soon as the screen go black, but then it just reset the device instead of going into the bootloader...
oh forgot to mention. Shotly after the dutty series screen comes up i get the window appearing sound but nothing comes on screen. suggests to me that maybe its trying to tell me whatswrong but i can see what it is. maybe, i dunno..

Do you have a storage card installed?

OK But are you also holding your stylus in the Reset Hole?
If yes, And you can't get into Bootloader, well I think you are "boned"
Yes im doing that. Boned? really? What about the error message that eventually comes up? isnt there anything i can do from there? Any other way of reseting it so maybe the bootloader works?
And if its really broken, do you recon my network will send me another or have i just properly voided the warranty?
Hello:
I have searched to forums, but did not find a thread that addressed my specific problem. I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help...
I have a Fuze running the EnergyRom August 1st build. I have not had any problems to date except for the occasional lag and the battery drain. I've never had to reset or anything.
Last night the phone was working fine, I set the alarm, plugged it in and went to sleep. At 2:30 this morning I woke up to my voicemail message on the phone. The phone had somehow called my voicemail. I hit the end key - no problem - but after that my touch screen would not function.
At first I thought the screen was broken somehow. (There are no cracks or spots; it hadn't been dropped. I did not get the "broken screen" or any black/white "noise" that others referred to in their posts.)
I did a soft reset, no result.
Hard reset, no result.
Then I realized that the screen actually works, but so slowly that it is almost imperceptable.
Right now I am on the align screen part of the boot-up. It is taking approximately 8-10 minutes for the phone to register each touch of the target and move to the next.
I assume that eventually it will boot, but my questions are:
Where do I go from there?
Should I just reflash?
What the heck happened???
Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Flash back to stock ROM, then reflash a custom one.
Your issue will be resolved
Hi, Bruce. Thanks for responding.
I tried what you suggested, but still no luck. I flashed back to the HTC OEM ROM, then to EnergyROM 'Genesis' (SYS 23016). Now I am stuck on the "tap the screen to set up your Windows phone" screen.
No response at all when I tap the screen.
Any thoughts?
There's an empty text file you can put on your sd card that will let you skip alignment, but I don't remember what you need to name it. Try searching for skip alignment in this forum. Also, there's another recent thread in this forum where 3-4 other posters had sudden screen problems with that rom or one in the series. They may have had black screens. The phones still worked, like with MyMobiler, but the phones were messed up. Search for that thread to see if there's any help. This may be return time, I'm afraid.
When you flashed back to stock, did you see the same issues or only on Energy ROM?
I would say try another ROM.
As Ted said, many users had issues like this on his ROMs.
I looked it up, and the file you need is called "welcome.not" (no quotes). Just rename a blank text file that and put it on the root of your storage card.
Here's another thread on screen issues with that rom.
So, I installed the Evo4G statusbar found in the Themes section of the Captivate section, and it worked fine. But today, I decided I didn't want it, so I tried to install the stock one (Also found in the same thread), and it asked me to reboot. Once I did, it rebooted, but wouldn't go past the splash screen. Well, it did, but it stayed at a constant black screen. The bottom four buttons light up if I touch them, and it vibrates if I hit it enough. But the screen doesn't seem to work. At this point, I held the Menu/Home buttons (See if it did anything?) and Safe Mode came on the bottom left of the screen. I'm able to boot into the Recovery Menu, but none of the options do anything to help with my problem..
I really need my phone, and hopefully I didn't brick it. Any ideas?
I have an unlocked HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus imported from the UK to the US. Ordered from Negri Electronics.
It's not rooted or modded in any way.. Mainly because I don't know how to. As far as I know, it's running stock ICS.
I was using it normally, (using the fb messenger app if it makes any difference) when it suddenly rebooted by itself. The Google logo comes up, then the start up animation, and sometimes the home screen will appear but is not touch sensitive (i cannot slide it to unlock), and then it 'hangs' and the screen goes black. Repeat.
I've tried to fix this by myself and there's a video on youtube (sorry, noob here. can't post links. video is by robbidwv and title is "my galaxy nexus won't boot..") of the same problem that I have, but the posted solution doesn't work for me.
So far, I have entered Coin Mode and pressed Start. Entered Fastboot mode and gone into Recovery Mode (no options appear after that. it just starts booting up and the loop begins), and I've also tried Restart Bootloader.
I've almost given up. Now all I want is to extract my SMS, if they're still on my phone. I can't access the folders on my computer because it won't boot up and connect. Is there a way that I can extract my SMS by using DOS in either Coin Mode or Fastboot mode?
Or even better, does anyone have a solution to this boot loop problem? I'll contact Negri Electronics tomorrow and hopefully they can send me a replacement.
Please help!! Thanks
that problem just started happening with me an hour ago!!
i hate this!!
we need a solution please!
Hey guys, sorry about the issue.the major problem I see here is you wanting to retrieve your txt messages, which might be possible with a little Modding, but if yourwilling to lose them to get a working phone back, then this is what your going to have to do. Make sure your phone is completely off. Hold the 2 volume buttons and the power button together. You will get into a mode with an android Guy. Press the volume button up or down until it says reboot recovery at the top. Press the power button. It will rebootand come to a screen with an android. Hold volume up,down and power at the same time. A menu will come up. Go down to wipe data. Click it, and after it is done reboot. Your phone should work now.
If this helped you, or you simply appreciate me taking the time to write this out then please press the thanks button
Hey!
Thanks. Yeah I 'fixed' it already. I was just about to post something similar. After a while I just gave up on trying to recover my data. Good thing that Google syncs everything so the only issue would be recovering my messages, which I decided weren't worth sending it in for a repair which would probably not be able to recover anything anyway.
The thing I didn't know about was to press power + volume up WHILE on the recovery screen. I thought navigating to the recovery screen was it!
Still, this kind of sucks. I love my GNex, but I can't help but be slightly pissed seeing that my crappy iPhone 3GS never did this in the 2 years I had it. Oh well, hope it doesn't happen again!
hey guys! i also did a complete wipe on my phone and got it working again!
but i wonder why this happened in the first place?
last application i installed before the crash was double twist, i dunno why but i feel that it was the reason behind the boot loop!
Sorry for reviving this thread, but I just had this happen to me TWICE!
It happened to me first last Monday, the 23rd - the phone crashed when trying to send an email with an attachment - and went into a boot loop - Google logo would appear, no make it to the animation, and reboot....
I performed a full reset and things worked again. I didn't install all the apps I had before - figuring it must have been due to some app messing with the OS.
Well, it happened again to me yesterday! I was connecting to my bluetooth headset when the phone crashed and went into the boot loop. Full reset worked again, and I've installed even fewer apps - essentially only those that I use on a daily basis.
My phone is still on 4.0.1 and I'm hoping once 4.0.4 is pushed this may get resolved? I have a canadian GNex from Negri. I will call them again (I called the first time, but when the full reset worked I never contacted them again).
I would like to this this is a software issues, and not hardware.
I have the same problem. If you figure it out let me know.
Today my phone also entered a boot loop: [Google logo]->[black screen]->[vibration]->[Repeat]
I tried Recovery Mode, but this is what happens: (sorry for the link but I am not trusted with powerful tools such as outside links apparently, as I have not yet reached the maturity of a person with eight posts... )
dl(dot)dropbox(dot)com/u/53568097/Android.jpg
This is what I see when I navigate to Recovery Mode
For a split second I can see an image of an Android with spinning cogs in his innards, but then this little sad fellow appears. WTF is this?
EDIT:
Oh, and I'm running Android stock 4.0.2, never rooted or unlocked, Swedish. At the time when the phone started doing this, I was using Endomondo, and was about to set off on my bike when it died on me.
Stock ROM galaxy nexus bootlooping after wiping data also.
Hi,
My GNex went into a bootloop so i searched xda and found that factory reseting would be helping my prob. But after wiping the data also its still in going through the loop . Please help .:crying:
